a hopper picks up eggs made from a bunch of chickens on top of a slab and puts it into a dispenser which fires the eggs, some of them hatch and when they grow up they get hit with a click of lava which will set them on fire and the cooked chicken falls into another hopper which goes into a chest

There are many strong sources of light that have much better range than torches. Stop being so poor and make some lampposts with them.

Never had a problem with this, just placed a torch here and there and mobs werent spawning. I think you legit have autism, but not that kind of high functioning autism that makes you efficient, but the kind that makes you incredibly obnoxious to other people.

The hopper+dispenser setup is pretty easy by itself, just having the hopper feed into an upwards facing dropper and a dispenser both attached to a clock. Also handling the production of chicken is... somewhat more difficult. You could do something like this:
>Grown-up chickens lay eggs, eggs are put into a buffer chest.
>Once the egg chest is full (using a comparator to check), chickens are killed and their meat is sorted away from the egg chest.
>Once the hopper is empty of meat (another comparator), the egg-chest is emptied into a dispenser and the eggs create new chickens
>Repeat
As long as you know how to make the parts required it shouldn't be too difficult.

I have the basic design down to the point where I can get baby chickens next to the lava dispenser but I have no idea how to detect either when they grow up or to do a single click of lava rarely
I'm doing this underground so something like a daylight detector is out of the question

okay let's talk about this objectively
in order to prevent mobs spawning in a large area, you have to litter the ground with light sources. This looks very ugly and takes a lot of time and effort. I even have to resort to using a mod which shows where mobs can spawn depending on light level to ensure there is no bit of ground left unlit.
I think this is poor gameplay and I think there should be another method of marking terrirory. Sorry for whiiiiiining

Remember that only grown-up chickens lay eggs, and you need eggs to make new chickens. Use that to your advantage. I wouldn't recommend having separate hoppers for eggs and meat.

Since dispensed eggs can hatch that's what I'm relying on to make baby chickens
Right next to the slab is a lava dispenser to kill off the chickens

It's okay user, just remember that if people on the internet disagree with you it's no reason to lose your composure. Maybe just turn off the computer and go to sleep.

The first thing that comes to mind is that baby chickens can fit through slightly smaller spaces than full grown chickens (like the space between a fence and a wall, and maybe a single block of height where a full grown one needs 1.5) so you could maybe make a chicken grate where only full grown chickens can make it to the other side. Then a pressure plate in front of your lava dispenser on the other side. A more involved solution would be to wait to start the frying process until the chickens are all grown and just fry all the fuckers, firing up your egg dispenser at the same time with the same lever as the lava.

Never messed with liquid in a dispenser so idk about that part.

Why is it that you need such a crazy area lit anyway? If it's for building, light an area bigger than mob aggro range. If it's for house safety, extend the range past your buildings. Set it to peaceful if your going to have some sort of fit over your shit being blown up by creepers which is what it sounds like.

My last minecraft singleplayer game was literally ruined because a village that wasn't properly lit lost all of its villagers except one. I spent days improving that village

Admittedly there's not a lot I can think to ask for. My issue with Minecraft is that "Survival" is no longer an issue, once you get three pieces of wool you're set. I want to go back to the old early beta days where I had to build my base with a spider-proof roof, and glass windows to view any Creepers clinging to base wall. I want to have to build a moat around my base again. If I actually actively avoid using beds in 1.14, the game punishes me with annoying Phantoms. It should be the other way around.

I think it's just that we've gotten much better at the game, which is why it feels less like "survival" and more like "conquer" now

In multiplayer, I build a cult room with red carpet and dim lighting leading to my nether portal. I'll make a bar where I brew potions, with barrels and store rooms.

In Single player I build the nether portal behind my library cause it makes sense. I make some nice looking balconies and a ton of glass windows.

I respect mods but the bulk of them are too autistic and change the flow of the game drastically. It's a shame vanilla blows ass and has no future going forward (especially for java).

You can slap down a base in seconds?
building under ground requires you to mine the area, then replace the walls with the desired material.

This exponentially increases the more space you want.
And minecraft still doesn't have anything efficient for removing space outside tnt which requires more effort to make than clear the area.
