why hasn't Sony/Microsoft put a good D-pad on their controllers yet?

Why did you post a controller with a shitty dpad?
why isn't this the standard
How durable are these? I'm not going to be playing Smash or action heavy games but I worry as to how sturdy the joysticks are.
whats wrong with it?
What’s the best six button controller on the market? Is the jap edition of the hori fighting commander alright?
>get the retrobit Saturn controller
Already have it, the shoulder buttons are trash.
because it is a nintendo patent
It's not as good as picrelated honestly. Pro controller's only flaw is how it's always wireless but it's very comfy to play on PC.
pretty good. The dpad sucks ass though. Unless you push it perfectly in one direction, it'll misinterpret it as you pressing two directions at once
the sticks seems solid to me but then again i don't play on my switch much. my only complaint is that the sticks don't cut it for precise aiming in a shooter. should be fine if you're not very competitive.
Why do companies keep changing the fucking d-pads with every controller? It was already perfected fucking two decades ago
kys boomer technology improves
God this controller was good. Why the fuck did they change the design on the Switch.
because this is better
It's easily one of the worst dpads Nintendo has ever put out. The fucking joycon "dpad" is better. It constantly misses inputs and diagonal inputs barely work.
Nothing. People like bash it to the extreme even though theyve never used it.
Why has no 1st party company tried to emulate the Saturn D-pads? 3rd party controllers tried but some were trash
The Vita dpad AND buttons were literally the best on any console or controller ever. Period. Better than the fucking dualshocks for whatever reason. I am willing to die on this hill.
Are the og vita and 2000 the same?
2019.... I am forgotten.....
I never had a 2000, still have my original OLED Vita. I'm not sure, but I would hope so. The only difference I ever heard talked about (aside from the size) was the screen so I assumed the buttons stayed the same.
i hope this one won't suck, i'm waiting for the EU release
Too squishy
(You)
Microsoft tried with the 360.
heavily considering one of those and switching to the best controller color scheme ever. want to know what the polling rate is and most of the reviews so far are non-technical.
Do people honestly see nothing wrong with the Switch Pro Controller d-pad?
You've people played on Nintendo consoles, you should know how a fucking d-pad should work.
Nice controller. What's the retail on one of those?
it's fucking bizarre, Nintendo has always had top tier d-pads and this one is trash
$49/49€
for a third party controller it's really expensive, for me the d-pad and the config software are the main selling point. i have more than enough controllers for pc, but on the switch i only have a gamecube controller for smash (which isn't very good for most switch games) and the joycons.
This mod looks kino
50$
$50. First full sized controller they've made and people love the stuff they've done prior. Just came out.
Seems like the revision was drastically different from the first release since my controller is perfectly fine.
It has analog triggers too
>people love the stuff they've done prior.
I don't trust the Chinese or anyone who receives free products from them.
>
I literally have one of these right next to me and both variations of the D-Pad are ass. I love it for console shooters, wouldn't even think about playing a 2D game with it.
>Over 150 plus tax
Nah, no controller is worth that much
That thing reliably fucked me up so much in t99 I've sworn off of it. Moving a piece L/R and it suddenly drops.
>in 4 stop fat fingering it
Except I don't have this problem on any other controller. If a game needs dpad, I use joycons.
what fucking technology do you want to stuff into a dpad you tard
>waah waah too expensive
Are you poor? Is poorboy seething? I would take your lunch money and laugh
>Switch Pro
>Good Dpad
yeah about that...
Does it natively work on the switch?
You mad zoomer?
What did that actually do? Just make the d-pad trigger with less force?
Look into it but considering that's what most people seem to be buying it for I'm fairly certain it does.
yes, it gets detected as a procontroller. the only things that are missing are nfc and hd rumble (regular rumble works fine), which i'll gladly trade for custom button layouts and macros
try the 8bitdo m30
>Maybe if I use buzzwords my controller won't be shit
based, still use it now. God tier
Wii U Pro is good shit. Got one for PC and my Switch.
>proper fucking D-Pad
>it has regular rumble
Fucking sold.
>for switch
Does it only work for switch and pc? Would you need a seperate one to use a wiiu pro on ps4/xbox?
according to the reviews i've watched the rumble is on the weak side, in case you care about that.
>maybe if i green text itll make the controller bad
>Hardware thread
>acctually talking about design
Just when I thought I had lost all faith in Yea Forums
That's fine. I can't count the number of times it was a dealbreaker for me because the controller couldn't even do basic fucking rumble.
It let's you use xbox/ps4 controllers on the switch but not the other way around so yeah I think you need something else.
MadCatz controllers were pretty bad iirc. Hori needs to do them in their next Fighting Commander controllers
fucking madcatz
My left stick tracks downwards and was unusable on the second day I owned it. Really frustrating and I hear it's somewhat common.
does this shit have a gyro?
because they like money
How does it feel to use this controller to play retro games?
i'm starting to sound like a shill, i don't even have the controller yet lmao
just watch a review
I just bought one because I was thinking about it and this thread came up so at least one person got shilled into it.
Oh well.
Nice bait
What makes a good D-pad? It's just four directional buttons
Does it has amiibo reader? 50 dollars is pretty expensive though, it's the same price as the switch pro
no nfc chip = no amiibo reader
The feel and build quality that doesn't allow mistakes. A 360 D-pad is shit for fighting games because it continually misreads the inputs unless you're used to the shittyness like smug
Feels pretty good, much better then my PS4 one honestly.
The way it detects said directions (plus diagonals) and the physical feedback. I like clicky pads because they let me know that I, for sure, pressed a specific direction. Some pads can feel "difficult" to just move around, and in my opinion they shouldn't require a lot of thumb strength.
Based
I can't think of official pads that are clicky aside from the DS. What are your favorites?
xbone is clicky
The pro controller has known dpad issues. If you're just using it for a random platformer or menu selection it's probably fine, but try a fighting game for a while and you'll see.
I dunno about the buttons but that dpad should be industry standard.
It doesn't have gyro
I would like to see some proof of these claims
My dpad broke after 3 months and its a common issue. I'm still mad
Most handhelds are clicky, yeah. From my experience, the GBA SP and 3DS ones were pretty good (and everyone seems to like the Vita's). I own an Xbone pad, but it feels too stiff compared to the "loose" feel of the handhelds.
so, is the only benefit of this the button customization and PC compability?
Pretty much the same, I used the sticks and buttons from a vita for a SBC project I had.
It was fucking NICE.
take your switch pro controller right now and push into the center.
take literally any other controller and push into the center.
can you feel the difference?
Shit dpad if you play too much, not only will your thumb hurt like hell (doesn't happen on dualshock or xbone controller) but the inputs are not properly registered sometimes
Pokken controllers are like ~$20 each. Got two of them just for emulation.
The SN30 Pro is a huge improvement over the older version.
