Physical has persistent value. Digital does not.

Digitalshills are just trying to sell memory cards and shitty services.
>Physical game 50$
>Digital game 49,99$
You are giving them free money you idiots.

Can't collect digital.

When I sell my consoles I can actually turn a profit if I buy all my games physically, because Ebay buyers love seeing huge collections of games paired with consoles (assuming everything is in pristine condition, which for me is a given).

Most of the economy depends on people not thinking too hard about who's taking their money.

>deletes your digital games

You were saying?

I used to sell the physical copies when i was a teenager but its not worth it.
You get ripped off pretty bad.

I have tons of friends and we all trade our physical games among each other. This remains one of the dumbest fucking things I see written on here. If you own a digital copy of the game you don't actually own it.

Digital is more expensive at full retail price
You actually own physical copies
You can sell them and lend it out to friends

I can acknowledge the convenience of digital but for some reason I can't give up on physical releases.

This
I hated tropical freeze and Tokoyo mirage sessions luckily I borrowed my friends WiiU and brought the games used so it wasn’t that bad only cost me 40$ instead of 420$ between buying everything new

>online service with store is dead
>all your digital games are gone and you cannot redownload them
>have to literally wait until an emulator can run your games and pirate them

Value of my working Physical Valkyrie Profile collectors edition: few hundred dollars

Value of my Digital ROM of the same game: Literally nothing

rip Wii Shop Channel

I get physical to share with friends.
However if I'm looking at 50%+ savings, or a game around or under $20 I'll do digital.

>Nintendo games never drop below full price
>Physical copies mean my brother and I can just share games we only intend on playing once instead of buying 2 copies

Learn 2 finance zoomie.

I’ve literally brought games twice because I enjoy them too much
Splatoon 2 and MHGU I’ve put 400 hours a piece into each game I brought physical originally then later digital because I got sick of switching out carts

My rule is unless I put an ungodly amount of time into a game or it’s digital only buy physical 1st

>You actually own physical copies
>You can sell them and lend it out to friends
Remember when they tried to make physicals locked to one console and people got so fucking mad? I wonder why they are pushing the digital shit so hard.

And your arguments are...

Doesn't happen. They only get removed from stores. Retail stores don't always carry ancient games either.

>When I sell my consoles I can actually turn a profit if I buy all my games
I tried this with a Switch filles with digital games and it actually sold good.

AHEM

Both are necessary.

For people who are concerned with salvageable value, how much money do you make? Seriously, because that would be the deciding factor in thinking this is important versus seeing this as discretionary (ie. not worth the concern, or the storage and transporting burden).

digital is for brainlets

800$ a month

i'm still fucking mad i can't play the scott pilgrim game because it was digital only and the store dropped it when there were licencing issues

lol mad? get over it and move on with your life nigga

>physical has version control
>digital doesn't
Oh yeah man, I love having to buy a game on release if I want to have the option choose what version of the game I want to update to

As someone who primarily plays on console, I tend to go digital for PS4 and physical for Switch. I do lean towards physical if I buy new releases, though. Games nowadays have so many patches and DLC that having the game on disc almost feels pointless.

if you're getting digital games on a console you are being fucking played. PC is understandable because you have more control but we're moving towards a world of streaming and leasing (cloud gaming) where even PC might not be a safe bet.

>alt right kotaku as a source

>buy physical version of new game
>complete it
>resell it
>get most of the money back
you also actually own them and not just renting them or whatever shit companies tries to pull so they can stop letting you download games like nintendo did to wii recently

Technically, even owning physical is only a license, but it's not like they can stop you from using it if they did revoke the license

>Ducktales Remastered removed from all online storefronts, making it now unobtainable

WOW digital only is fucking great

>muh_alt-right™

Can you Resetera faggots just fuck off finally?

That's a shitty example since it had a retail release for consoles. In PC you can pirate it, it's not like you're hurting anybody.

i purchased a game for switch i didn’t like, i recovered 90% value on ebay :)

Always physical, sometimes old-school is good. However, someone once made a point to me that multiplayer games you play regularely for an extended period of time are quite good to have digitally, cause you don't have to swap cardridges nearly as much. With single player games, you just leave it in while beating it once or maybe twice and then leave it be for the most part.

Empty handed, empty headed.

They both have benefits.

Digital is far more convenient and is my preference for preservation reasons. Other people prefer physical for other reasons, and I can accept that.

Tell me v, are you actually so autistic you cant accept other opinions have merit?

Being able to resell them alone makes physical far, far, far better.

>want to buy digital licensed game in the year 20XX
>game is unavailable because the license expired, or because the server has been shut down
>can never purchase the game nor play the game under legitimate means ever again unless I just so happened to have bought it while it was available
>must resort to piracy in order to play game

>want to buy physical licensed video game
>game was made ages ago, but exists on secondary markets for a fairly cheap price
>buy game and have fun with it
>resort to piracy anyway because it's practically abandonware
GOD PHYSICAL SUCKS SO MUCH

>Selling shit as a lot instead of by themselves.
Do you want to lose out on hundreds of dollars plus deal with high shipping prices?

If money is an issue why not just pirate?

Almost every single pro physical argument goes out the window if you factor in piracy.

In the future when people try to find out what the early 21st century was like they won't find shit because it either ceased to exist or the DRM encryption renders it useless

It's not worth the time for those few extra dollars. Just sell them in a lot

>I hated tropical freeze and Tokoyo mirage sessions
Your fault for having shit taste.

If you want to go that route paying for digital is completely worthless.
piracy > physical >>>>>>> paying for digital

Not him. Because I can.

Or the game sold horribly, but gained quite a lot of popularity over the years. Then it's either 100 bucks or piracy.

calm down, sweetie

Go buy Ducktales Remastered then.

Why is this being used as an example when it had physical copies?

Because if it didn't have a physical copy you wouldn't be able to buy it anymore you retard.

>Anyone who thinks physical is better than digital is a retarded boomer stuck in the past.
Anyone who thinks having DRM is a good thing is a fat fucking neet with no sense of self-preservation.
Prove. Me. Wrong.

I usually buy digital games on sale. Buying day one is usually retarded. If I like the game, I'll wait for them to release a complete edition physicially so all DLC and latest updates will be on a base copy.

>self-preservation
Good luck playing any game decades from now when you don't have access to all the patches or DLC. You're fucked either way, just pray for piracy.
