There really isn't a reason, especially in some of the later maps that are covered in terrain obstacles and are generally a a pain in the dick to get around.
The stat requirements can be a pain in the ass, though, especially since you can't get levels in flying or riding through seminars.

Made Byleth and Felix one first playthrough.
High crit rate does compensate for Felix's shitty magic growth to the point that he hit S in Reason and never did with swords. It also may work okay with characters like Lythisea who excel with swords but she's a nuclear bomb that doesn't need the crit rate to OHKO 99% of the game.
Still wouldn't recommend over a dark/holy knight. High mov is the way to go.

The bullshit is seriously reduced in part 2. I run around to talk to everyone because I like hearing their opinions on the plot developments and then I just do that month's tournament, get motivation up with meals and get faculty training in whatever I care about. Whole thing takes maybe 10-15 minutes and around that point you don't have to care much about instruction since everyone's on pace with Advanced/Master classes anyway. I just dump everyone onto authority so they get better batallions.
As for missions, I should hope you're on Hard/Classic, but even so we all agree the game is too easy. Lunatic & Infernal later will hopefully fix that. I found the maps adequate and the story was more than enough motivation to keep playing. Punished Dimitri's wild ride lasts 22 chapters and seems to be mostly agreed to be the best story of all 4 routes. Just be warned you won't get much lore, it's all about the characters and their personal struggles

Radiant Dawn is almost like a proto-Conquest in some regards. It's got good maps and difficulty, and I for one like the rotating army thing even though it kills unit viability, but the story is absolutely fucking retarded with a shitty Mary Sue protagonist whose insuffrability is surpassed only by her spiritual successor Corrin. It also kills character depth by getting rid of supports and characters from PoR are largely flanderized and butchered. It's a good game, don't get me wrong, but it has a ton of problems that really suck the fun out of it

When trying to retake Dierdrue she acts as a tank on the bridge. Dunno if she dies if she gets killed by the Empire in that map because I warped Dimitri in to end it turn 3.

I had recruited Raph(intentionally) and Ignatz (I just asked him once, he was benched besides that) so I never knew they were supposed to die there.

That entire chapter was weird. The cutscene before showed the battlefield with fire and looked a bit more chaotic but when it starts and Edelgard says she's gonna create chaos literally nothing happens to 'cause confusion between each side. I'd understand if there was limited view, traitors or messengers but there wasn't. There was no real reason for Claude's forces to try and attack your army at all. Honestly felt like this was happening just for the sake of story progression. I know there was a Blue Lions soldier found dead shortly before the battle upstream or some shit that was in Alliance area but even still.

Later on that lack of speed really starts to hurt and hyper offensive strats with Warp+Stride are far better later in the game when turrets turn into legitimate threats and making big plays is better than turtling.
Dedue was a super tank in my playthrough, still got fucking demolished by Caspur and started to become a bit of a deadweight by the end due to his class.

No you aren't getting screwed by rng. Most people don't know how to build tanks. If you switch them to thief class at lvl 10. It bumps their speed to 11. All melee units should classed as brigand at that lvl after that.

Yeah, i was in the same boat with tank like dedue. He's invincible to everything but mages are his weakness, he's like a pegasus knight that can't dodge arrows. To mitigate that weakness i deadeye sniped mages then warped my armored unit in the middle of the enemy once all their mages were dead and they swept up the map afterwards.

I played and loved DeSu2 too.
I played both the ds versions and 3ds versions of both games.
DeSu was my gateway into SMT, persona and just megaten in general.
I should have specified that.

Eh Stella Glow isnt everyone's cup of tea, as an srpg it can feel pretty bare boned and it's basically a spiritual successor to luminous arc(if you didnt like the original...) but with a slight emphasis on jpop music.

As for binding blade...eh, it can feel kinda dated even by gba standards, blazing sword/sacred stones are more recommended and even then they arent really a good indication of how much you'll like 3H because the series evolved a lot since the early 2000s.

Pretty much my main problem with him, they built him up to be a "schemer" or 4D chessmaster when his most stand out feature is that he's just the most grounded/consistent person among the options.

Sylvain is unironically one of the most interesting supporting characters I've seen in recent vidya. He's a well-written character, you just have to do his supports to find that out.

I really wish that in non-GD routes, Claude would fuck over the other lords' campaigns in some way, maybe ruse them into falling for a false alliance only for him and his units to betray you in the hopes of ensuring the Alliance's independence or something. Not ruling all of Fodlan, just shit ton of safety measures so that the Alliance gets away scott free from the war, as it would fit Claude's supposedly shrewd scheming personality where he's out for himself and his people.

Instead he feels a bit wasted outside his own route

He doesn't make any big mistakes that affect the state of the game, he doesn't have any psychosis that makes him act out, he's only true lord in a game about weird personalities.

Her route tells you a false history. She betrays and tries to kill her friends. She never grows or changes, it's all just "The ends justify the means!" all the way to hell as everyone's crushed under the boot heel of the Emperor. Despite the fact that her Empire won't hold/last and it'll dissolve into warring states within 20 years.

And ultimately the other routes solve the issues she's got better than she does.

OK, seeing all you lucklets is making me feel bad.

Here are some TIPS it all starts with Certification base stats.

Males go sword and axe first, focus on heavy armor and faith on the side as a goal.
Rise sword as Myrmidon/Brigand and work your way as mercenary.

The moment you hit 20 you should be able to certify assassin, fortress and bishop for a minimum of 14 speed, 17 Def and 15 Res.

If you end up a lucklet do this, the faster you do it the better your units will be as these are free base stats that can be built on.

Females can't go Hero or Warmaster but have pegapony to fix bad speed growths so they can ignore assassin, it's still wise to get some heavy armor for that 15 Def 28 hp boost of fortress though.
Brigand can patch low strength too and it only needs a bit of axe, D is enough to gamble on it, if you are doing merc this is piss easy.

Don't be a lucklet, by level 20 there is no excuse to being a sub 28 hp, 17 strength, 14 speed, 20 Def and 15 Res chump.

Merc is the easiest path, don't forget to set goals to faith and armor, heck getting 28 hp and 17 Def for free in your females and Lysithea is broken.
