Found two of these while i was doing the promise, they look beefy but are they worth it? Also Starsector thread
SS
is there a way to make fleets follow me?
raiding the hegemony with a single fleet sounds dangerous
If you're only just starting out, they're not worth it because of the huge crew+fuel requirement of these things. Better off with a smaller strike force and build up some bank.
Store it in the terraforming platform in Corvus for free.
>lvl 38
>explored like half constellations
>still 0 (ZERO) red remnant beacons
WHAT THE FUCK
Is there even any payoff? I kept the deal and the mission is gone from my intel, but I didn't get any kind of follow up about it. Didn't get a scene where I delivered it either.
Only with mods.
What kind of butthole star is that?
>lvl 43
>haven't found a single planet truly worth colonising
All that fucking time wasted. Guess I'll settle for a bunch of shit tier 150% planets in a single system.
>12 supplies a day
what do?
if I take less ships I get wrecked by bigger fleets
They're extremely powerful.
There is nothing else after the deal with the scientist. You either get the credits or the alpha core and a bunch of pirates ambushing you and that's it.
In my game they all got clustered in one quadrant.
Lame. I got ambushed by pirates anyway too.
>only learned about XIV division ships a while ago
>Might have scrapped a couple and not knew about it
SHITFUCK
Well this save is overrun with beefy pirate after my booty, so I might as well start over.
posted this the other day but
>make a carrier fleet
>every single ship is a carrier of some sort
>aorund 35 fighter wings and i only have 2 capitals so far
>get into a larger battle with piratess or whatever, a lot of ships so i deploy almosst everything
>give an order to attack
>35 fighter wings descend upon the enemy fleet
>game slows down to a crawl, literally 5fps
>check system resources
>cpu at 20%, gpu at 5
>mfw
>dual star system
>smaller star has 2 fucking pulsars
Fuck pulsars. I need that silly ship from Star Wars, the one made of indestructible alloy and armed with bombs that can destroy stars.
Who are you fighting? A 4 supply/day fleet can wreck the biggest pirate fleets easy.
Hegemony on the other hand...
>colonies consistently growing and making money
>growth is slow
>want to make more colonies so they can grow concomitantly
>can't afford both that and refueling fleet
Scrapping the ones in the wild isn't the end of the world. Buddy up with the Hegemony and you can buy them (rarely) from their fleet markets.
which ship is that?
if you install arsenal expansion and complete the promise mission, you get a special ability that summons a fleet to follow you for some time
sindrian niggers
about to pick a fight with the hegemony tho
Not him but pirates get WAY stronger over time, especially if you sell a lot on the black market
especially ESPECIALLY if you sell blueprints and nanoforges
Wait until you’re getting a decent monthly payoff from your first planet before you start a second planet. Once you do you’ll be getting mad bank. Make sure you invest early into heavy industry. Especially if you have a pristine nanoforge. It VASTLY reduces the cost of ships and armaments
I have a decent size colony up and running and the pirates are still fielding a few atlas and ventures (+ shittons of rustbucket frigates) at most.
Then again I haven't sold any blueprints on the black market.
*AHEM*
FUCK TACHYON AND FUCK FAST PICKETS
I’m glad I learned about that from here. I don’t sell heavy weapons or blueprints to anybody now. I’ve got a massive stockpile of them. Actually I do sell path blueprints because those ships are trash anyways
They also get blueprints from their raids of other factons
is there an optimal onslaught build laying around for making things go pew pew?
If you're going to pick a fight with sindria/hegemony the supply problem shouldn't be that big of a deal since you're near the core worlds to buy and sell shit. Not to mention the supplies looted after battle.
You can sell them on the open market without fear. Heavy weapons are just another commodity. Blueprints only beef up pirates if they're sold in the black market.
I sold all the blueprints on the blackmarket and I'm still wrecking pirate ass.
Yeah I learned it the hard way, several fleets of 0 dmod deathships using [REDACTED] technology was not a good time.
I don’t want other fleets having any more access to high tech shit than they already do
AND FUCK THE SPACE JIHAD
Faction fleets don't appropriate ships from other blueprints. You're not going to see a Hegemony fleet full of Odysseys.
How do I make ships follow behind other ships? When I tell my carriers to escort my capital they'll sometimes end up in front of it.
>Most of the work is done on a single thread/core.
Hopefully you weren't expecting to raise battle size to see what 1000 DP fights were like.
You can't really give that kind of direct order. The best you can do is wait until the fighting reaches a deadlock and then put a waypoint behind the capital to defend.
Bro, is something very weird about your straw hat.
You can't. Being retarded is part of the job description to work on carriers in the sector.
That's no hat... IT'S A SPACESHIP!
I did this, I sold 3-4 corrupted nanoforges, a fuel thing, and one pristine nanoforge.
I needed the money, and it ended up with pirates having huge as fuck Armadas with 4-6 refitted oil rigs.
total war can have 10k dudes on the screen at one time. starcraft can have 800 zerglings with perfect pathfinding. i get that this guy isn't a huge studio, but still, the performance is abysmal.
>got caught in a pulsar for too long
>forgot about supplies
>last save was 15 minutes ago
I lost a needler and forgot where I got it. Fuck me.
Its java dood. What do you want?
not java, apparently. even unity would do better
>10k dudes
not really, it has 40 cohorts of ~120 dudes that work in unison. Individual units don't really have a mind of their own, so it's not as daunting of an achievement as it looks. By that logic, every gun on every ship should count as a single dude.
>implying it's about the dudes
the biggest drain on resources happens when there are a lot of explosions. You gotta think about all the effects that are going on simultaneously.
I get that Alex probably didn't optimize his game as well as he could, but space battles are more demanding to render that dudes hitting each other with a stick.
am i a little bitch for restarting my runs if i don't find any good colonization candidate systems?
the obest i've found in my current run is a system with double 150% jungle worlds, both with no-bonuses foods/rares/ores/organics, and no volatiles nor extra planets
i mean i could colonize those and try to figure something out, but even just the resources it means i'm gonna have to put a farm and mine on each of them, plus the patrol industry, means i only have 2 spaces left
one of them has to be commerce, meaning i have 1 space left, which obviously has to be heavy industry, which leaves me with no fuel/light industry/refining
it's just a fuckin mess and i hate it
You'll never get fantastic planets near the core worlds, at least not without the "random core world enabled" option in Nexerelin.
混沌裂隙。 If you like hyperspace storms there's something similar around that one in Augustin.
That system is wayyyy out on the fringe
I'm level 34 and there isn't a single
Even then they're swarming with pirates and other things.
Its almost always you find unprotected jungle and terra planets far out.
Also, are all large planets high gravity?
>You'll never get fantastic planets near the core worlds
Lad I've had a 75% terran planet with 3 abundant resources in Duzak or whatever the fuck that system is near the center of the core worlds.
I got a system with a terran planet with good minerals and an ice planet with abundant gas right next to the core worlds.
It may be unlikely but it does happen.
>You'll never get fantastic planets near the core worlds
blatantly false unless something changed from last update. it's all just RNG
>Individual units don't really have a mind of their own
yeah i get that, but still they're individual objects that need to be (flow field?) pathfound, animated and solved for game stuff like collisions. and they do it very efficiently.
>every gun on every ship should count as a single dude
sure, but even with that you have WAY less dudes than in what i mentioned
>the biggest drain on resources happens when there are a lot of explosions
no man, i get 20 fps at the start of the battle and it only goes down from there, while my rig literally falls asleep.
>but space battles are more demanding to render
surely you jest. i can turn tw:tk right now and my gpu will roar to life, working hard at rendering all that advanced 3d stuff, while in starsector it does nothing. it's literally at resting temperature.
the game is just terribly optimized, that's a fact.
Not necessarily, I have found some normal sized planets that were low gravity. I don't think the two correlate
How are the combat character skills? What are some must haves and something to avoid in general?
For my first run I made a full Industry/Technology + government skills from Leadership. Now I am fighting Remnant Battleships doing shit from my Conquest with storm needle + mjolnir, and watching my entire fleet get shit on.
I don't think it's pure RNG, it's more likely that it's semi random and weighed somehow by the distance to the center. Just like most of the black holes seem to be on the fringes.
I've had a planet practically next to the sun with "poor light" so I doubt it.
Nexerelin gives you an ability like this right off the bat. You can make commission faction or your own factions fleets follow you for up to 15 days in-game.
i got good farming/biosomething 75% and a 200% ultra rich mining literally in my factions homeworld
is
is that what request a fleet does?
well, I did take a look at how the save files are made, and there seems to be a lot of redundant code, it's true
>each industry is represented in five distinct nodes on a planet when one would suffice
small independent studio, unironically.
why would I play starsector when I could just boot up a Distant Worlds game as an independent faction?
>>each industry is represented in five distinct nodes
u what? care to elaborate?
How do you start with your own faction and be cool with it, the nice thing about setting your own is finding your own little nook, at least for me.
Having my faction just thrown into the core worlds is annoying as my future colonies will be the fuck out in the boonies of space.
Less upkeep means your colony starts generating a profit wayyyy more quickly.
However once it's all built up and stuffed with AI cores I don't think it matters much at all.
yes
It's a rule of thumb not an objective rule. You could start your first colony on a radioactive planet if you have the overhead to cover it.
No, it's a hotkey ability you should have if you've got the mod enabled.
The request a faction option allows you to pay to commission a strike force to attack a pather/pirate base or an invasion to try and take over a colonized planet.
why would I read your posts when I could get my fat nuts sucked on by your mom instead
t. seething cause he's too dense for Distant Worlds
for you
the save file is a giant xml tree, made up of nodes, that contain nodes, etc., like a russian doll.
Let's say a planet is a big node. It contains smaller nodes (ex, the building, the fleets patrolling it, prices, etc.)
Now, you would think, since the code has to somehow finds the node, less would be betterm right?
Yet, one building can have as much as five dedicated nodes (one for production, one for status ailments, etc). It would be better to have one big node called "Building" and make "production", "ailments" subnodes contained withing instead of five "Building" nodes scattered around.
One red russian doll is easier to parse than five red russian dolls.
one is an rpg and one is a 4x rts
can't hear you, getting my fat nuts sucked
if you play as an independent faction it isn't a 4x, the mechanics are totally different
>found 3 XIV Legions, Pristine Nanoforge and Synth Core in first hour of gameplay
>gathered enough shit to make a colony
>its under attack 24/7
>slow as fuck and can't get there in time and gain money at the same time
>can't lift a gigantic upkeep of a fleet and -10k/month colony
I imagined losing the game by losing a fight
Instead I lost to jewish trickery
Shameful display
also, is it worth to have only production industries on terran worlds with 50-100% HR and gather materials for it on ~200%ish HR planets?
Tell me about it. I am lvl 48 and best planets I found are 175%.
>one of them has to be commerce
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>patrol industry
Patrols are not an industry until they're upgraded to a military base. I just saved you a slot.
>no volatiles
Build a fuel industry anyways.
>which has to be heavy industry
correct
>no room for fuel/light industry/refining
Stop being so autistic about having to import goods to keep your economy running. Every planet in the core has some degree of imports coming in. Unless you decide to declare war on every faction at once it's a non-issue.
Your first and foremost concern when looking at any colony candidate is HAZARD LEVEL. If it has low hazard then it has low upkeep, which means any industry you put there will make a lot more money in the future even if it has to import raw materials.
Is there a difference between storing a ship and mothballing a ship and taking it with you?
anyone else feels like leveling is too fast?
Fuck off
>you will be tied to the burn level of the mothballed ship.
>you will also not be able to make transverse jumps as long as you have it mothballed
Got a picture of the colony management page?
Its fast in the beginning but after you hit 25+ it slows way down, at level 42 I have to genocide armadas of pirates to get a level.
ic, I was wondering if it slows down
jesus, that sounds pretty retarded. i'd rather have a file with planets and then list every planets' shit, then another file with fleets and list ebery ship with status in them, with a status like "orbiting that entity" or "pursuing this entity".
there is a reason people don't use XML anymore.
Do you miss out on something by skipping the tutorial?
free shit
>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
fuck off, i need to have a place to sell shit like blueprints off without it coming back to bite me in the ass
>Patrols are not an industry until they're upgraded to a military base. I just saved you a slot.
ye and you have to upgrade them always or else you gotta babysit the system like mad
>Stop being so autistic about having to import goods to keep your economy running. Every planet in the core has some degree of imports coming in. Unless you decide to declare war on every faction at once it's a non-issue.
fuck imports, autarky is way more efficient
also both of those planets were 150% hazard level lmao
If you do the tutorial, you can first farm the forced pirate bounty in galantia for 2 months, turn in the tutorial mission, and then farm the other bounty for 2 months, if you skip it, both bounties spawn at once.
It really shouldn't matter though since these bounties pop up often
What are some good loadouts for tempest?
retard
no wonder your colonies suck
yeah like 150k in free stuff if you exploit the shortages
>fuck off, i need to have a place to sell shit like blueprints off without it coming back to bite me in the ass
You know nothing about the game then.
>ye and you have to upgrade them always or else you gotta babysit the system like mad
Or you could just upgrade the orbital station and ground defenses and ignore raids entirely. Even better if you complete the game's sole story quest and get planetary shields
>fuck imports
Never gonna make it.
>also both of those planets were 150% hazard level lmao
Food and organics are rare so you would have colonized those worlds regardless.
A free guaranteed trash fleet. On the flipside doing the tutorial also tanks your pirate reputation since you'll be fighting them.
weak, you can get millions from the shortages
>Or you could just upgrade the orbital station and ground defenses and ignore raids entirely.
and have negative accessibility because all the trade fleets get yeeted by pirate fucking shits
the trash fleet is still there if you skip it
teach me the way of the nose
i can't earn any money
You know that's gonna happen with or without patrols right? Do you really think convoys only get intercepted right outside your jump points?
Also, having a bunch of high commands don't really stop pirate activity. Pirate activity is a DEBUFF and it will rape your accessibility even if there aren't actually pirates nearby. You need to kill off the pirate base where the activity is being supplied from. Learn more about the game's economy before trying to optimize colonies.
buy low sell high
What are the best carriers for each class?, and the best bomber/fighter setup, i've been trying them but it takes so long
>Install Nexerelin
>Assemble a suitable force
>invade a Derelict world
>Strap everything that isn't magnetically bolted to the planet floor
>get money round 1
>transfer the planet to any faction
>stick around
>the planet is poor as fuck, can't even buy food
>orders start piling in, and even if they don't prices for basic commodities are through the roof
>go to the neighboring planets, literally stripping them of any commodities they have
>sell it off to the new planet
>buy it back on the black market
>repeat a few times
3 million in the bank.
procurement contracts
can you disable the vanilla portraits?
that's some advanced jewry right there
BUY HIGH SELL LOW
>and the best bomber/fighter setup
Any combination of cobras or daggers/tridents. You can't go wrong with fighters that have FUCK OFF missiles as their payload.
If you have mods installed, use the BRDY Vespas. I'm pretty sure their rockets are kinetic but that doesn't make the punch any weaker. Neutrino's Floh drones and drake bombers are also damn good
how about talon/kopesh?
So is it actually possible to make the pirates and Luddic Path get their shit together? I vaguely remember someone mentioning that selling them blueprints or nanoforges would actually make them available to those factions, but I'm wondering how big of an impact it would actually be.
It's like someone made a game out of 40,000 in Gehenna.
yes, delet all the images in starsector-core/graphics/portraits and replace them with whatever you like.
thanks breh
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if every pirate armada had multiple Paragons? Now imagine four of those armadas raiding Corvus.
Kopesh are a good alternative, but their lack of shields makes me dislike them. Talons are...eh, not really worth it;upgrade them to a gladius or equivalent ASAP.
>In a system with both an independent system and a Persean League planet
>by some sheer luck they BOTH issue a system bounty at the same time
>make double per ship and flatline TWO (2) Pirate Armadas
made 700k in 30 minutes.
fuck pirates
How, alpha cores?
What's the best way to speedrun this game to the point I have Auroras? Start off with exploring the far reaches of the sector straight away? Raiding Tri-Tachyon bases? Taking up a commission?
Someday I'm going to do a deliberate pirate run and see if I can make them indestructible.
What’s the best profile picture mod?
Another portrait pack, it has Jennifer Lawrence.
Have enough cargo to carry a months worth of supplies, you should be stopping by enough planets to keep it topped up
How are you not making money with that set up?
Expand cargo holds hullmod, invest in some specialized freighters, not the combat hybrid variety.
why does the hegemony/church/whoeverelse care if I bomb the pirates out of existence?
Same shot happened to me, store your bigger ships, find ways to pay off your debt like a good Goyim and wait till your heavy industry is up and running to make cash.
You can also take a commission off one of the factions for Gibs until your in the money. Invest in colonial defense.
If your undercrewed you have to mothball since odds are you aren't finding crew in deep space
The same reason why every civilized country has a justice system and not a field of mass graves.
Thats kinda cheesy though
>bombing pirates is bad
>raiding them until whatever semblance of society they had collapses into sheer anarchy is good
Guys the Hegemony are coming to visit, do you think their on to me?
Is it possible to completely genocide pirates and ludds from the sector?
Artificial Intelligence's what?
Nope. There base's keep respawning, its annoying as fuck but you can fix it with the nex mod
>INTELLIGENCE'S
What does it say when you F1 your income, how are you losing so much
Never fix the jump point in the tutorial and use transwarp skill to get the fuck out.
You now have exclusive supply rights to Ancyra and Derinkukulueulk station.
Are you on the very fringe of the sector or something, or does everyone just hate you?
>no way to sort weapons by range, dps, manufacturer or anything
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
GO IN RANDOM DIRECTION
FIND STAR
FLY AROUND STAR
FIND RESEARCH/MINING/WEAPONS CACHE
Congrats you are now 200k - 1.5 million bucks richer.
NO, you don't need a combat ship. There is literally no combat involved
You waltz up to that fucking research station and you slap it on the ass and get rich
It's that fucking easy if you can't earn money in this game it's a low IQ brainlet YOU problem.
Holy shit just flying around randomly you should be making fuckloads of cash by sheer fucking accident how the fuck are people like you struggling in this game I'm fucking blown away
>holding an entire solar system hostage so you can get sell your lobster at a higher price
brilliant.
>[redacted] blocks your path
Now what loser?
>big ass fleet
>loosing capitals to a single low tech star fortress
is it normal or am I doing something wrong? my fleet can't even get close to the damn thing with so many fighters and bombers, not to mention my rockets getting destroyed
Go to a different system without them
It's normal. My only suggestion is to increase the battle size so you can field more capitals at once.
There's no significant difference between tech levels of stations. Low tech star fortress is just as good as a high tech star fortress
If you're throwing a fleet of 30 frigates at it you're going to get rekt. Buy some capital ships.
Don't send anything below a cruiser and send at least three batttleships. That works for midline/lowtech. High tech, well, double that.
Avoid warning beacons? I mean its a literal fucking warning beacon.
go dark and scoot away, or activate travel mode, or transverse jump
I've heard that, but High tech have ridiculous shields and Plasma guns. To me, they are way more difficult to take care of.
Has anyone ever tried going inside a black hole?
Star forts are top tier planet defenses regardless of tech level. Even moreso if you have an Alpha core or officer manning it.
use bombers. lots of them.
Its not a big deal, theyre only a little bit better than the hegemony version of the ship. A good captain makes a bigger difference so slap at level 20 in there and youre good.
BEST STRATEGY
Get yourself 8 Drovers, 6 Tempest and 1 ship you like, i have a Sunder but any ship that has long range (700+). Drovers and Tempest are fucking OVERPOWERED AS FUCK. Easily take out capitol and crusier ships while you pick off anything else in thier way. The combination of fighter spam and high dps of the tiny Tempest is too much for even space stations.
>tfw 4 onslaughts and 2 astrals
the really shitty part is that my onslaughts just chill in the back end of the battle without doing much shit
J̸̩̳ͪ̇Ȍ̸̷͈͓́͘Ĩ̵͈̩̈N̨̺͓͈͙̮̙̑ͤͨͪͭͫͦ͞ ͕͔̯̠̪͎̯͌ͣ̈́͑̂͜ͅƯ̦̘̠͌ͤ́ͨͪS̟͙̜̓
I haven't been able to find a non shitty Earth like planet, should I just give up and start colonizing the other planets in my system? This is what my colony looks like so far.
I wish X was more like starsector. I love the series but everything looks the same and there's no live to the universe.
the game limits itself to 1.5 gigs of ram
unlock your shit
fractalsoftworks.com
>wake up in the middle of the night
>look through the window
>see this
fuck that
The benefits of having more than one colony in a starsystem can not be overstated. Go for it.
>Solar Shielding
Yeah I go over them sometimes when it's convenient.
You really just want High accessibility and decent resources, doesn't really matter what kind of planet it is except to affect accessibility.
Don't they risk decivilizing?
Getting 3-4 150% planets in a single system is WAY better than getting 1-2 100% planets in different systems.
Your 150%ers will trade among themselves, preventing loss of profit due to smuggling if you plan them properly enough so they can provide each other with enough goods to remain self-sufficient.
Once you do this, you can close ports and build up until you have enough production and infrastructure to take over every market in one feel swoop without having to deal with inspections or raids or the -3 stability loss.
>YouTuber shills this game
>Yea Forums gobbles it up
Pathetic.
Not sure about the planet but can stations even decivilize?
To add to what the other user has said, if the resources needed by the planet come from the same system and faction, all the maintenance costs are divided by 2 on that planet. Think about it, you are getting a 75% terran planet equivalent with a run of the mill 150% hazard world.
there were starsector threads for a long time before his video
>474130109
(You)
Its a good game, you'd know that if you actually played games instead of just coming to Yea Forums to shitpost
yes, they can.
already did, no change
Even if they don't really have good resources? The best planets I've got are a 250% with +3 rare ore and +1 ore and a 200% with +3 ore.
What happens to them gameplay wise then? Do they disappear or are they like the research and mining stations you find exploring?
Ultimately all that matters is that they have the resource at all.
>youtuber shills thing
>its not [insert /ourguy/ here] so it must be shit
that's very good resources, user. You are going to make bank with refining industries.
I noticed more threads about the game recently didnt know it was because of a youtuber who was it?
>he's not playing starsector right now
>ngo never
>templars never
>dong never
That can't be right, you should have some at least 175% ones? Have you tried sorting by hazard in the planets section?
And yeah you can always just farm Light industry and heavy industry and upgrade when you get a nanoforge
>tfw templasrs come out in 2020
How do I make it so my colonies stop producing pirate-tier ships with 5 fucking d-mods
I resigned my commission and Hegemony still hates me, how do I build it back up?
You can edit what they make in the command screen by pressing D and you can stop D-Mods by building heavy industry and finding Nanoforges
modify your doctrine in the command tab>doctrine>ship hulls and then give your orbital assemply an ai core and a pristine nanoforge.
Turn in cores, do missions and trade legally. So not worth it
command screen, blueprints tab, check the ships you want to prioritize; assign more squares to ship quality on the left.
Do I need the heavy industry in the colony itself or does it work as long as I have one colony with heavy industry?
are hyperspace settings in the config file? I cant seem to find them in there
just like usa lol
Do you have any heavy industry?
The more heavy industries you have, the more things you will be able to produce at the same time, but i think that the defects they produce will get averaged between all the factories/orbital assemblies.
Its a case of diminishing returns when you have more colonies, so if you have 2 colonies you might get like 1 D-mod every 20 or so ships but if you have 5 colonies every ship might have one. If you have 2 orbital works for every 5 colonies with pristine nanoforge and Alpha AI, you probably wont have any D-mods at all
thats completly wrong. The game states that it takes only the HIGHEST quality heavy industry into account. As long as you have 1 orbital work with a pristine nanoforge you will always get perfect ships no matter how many other shitty heavy industries you have.
Building one on my second colony atm
We used to have Starsector generals a few years ago, newcunt.
>People find out an obscure but good game exists
>"Oh wow such shills hur dur"
>the colony on a gas giant is making more money than the colony with 200% hazard
At least I make a million a month and can print as many capital ships as I want
I thought that was only with player produced ships and not patrols and pickets?
Okay anons, whats the most profitable industry and how do I make big cash money?
Then upgrade it to an orbital works, that'll bump up the quality by 20%, then get a nanoforge, even a corrupted one gives +1 products and more quality, that'll bump it up considerably.
They won't be perfect but it's a huge step up for your colonies.
Does Vayra's Sector still have that code snippet that causes the game to crash if ran alongside NGO?
Alright, thank you user and everyone else that replied
>find Guardian-class Drone Battleship for the first time
>my biggest ships are two hammers and a gryphon
If I have both a pristine nanoforge and a synchrotron, which one should I make first?
Fuel and refining, hands down.
Organs, just raid the other planet producing them and you can corner the market, just make sure you have 1 or 2 Alpha cores or find the secret facility
damn, that's just cruel.
Any way I can boost the refining production like the sync helps with fuel?
Just alpha cores
but you can escape those encounters, right?
slap an alpha core on the industry.
What do your core worlds look like?
>Everything is core
I'm using default
how the FUCK do I find ILLEGAL AI CORES

nah i'm good
if you sell blues on the black pirates get 'em

>spend the next 5 minutes hunting that one drone that is hiding at the edge of the map
Just fucking retreat, you toaster piece of shit.
>try pirate start in nex
>sector I spawned in has pirates, blackthorn and diablo cosplayers and level 7 military bases
>quit after a few hours and never load the save again
It was fun going dark and raiding them while trying to evade patrols, but goddamn my butt is sore. The pirate base was only level 3.
Rip user
So I tried playing this, and there is nothing to salvage, at least nothing that seems worth my time.
when a skill mentions (piloted ship), does it mean ONLY ships I am actively piloting?
you lose nothing from salvaging though?
yes
I just salvaged a 4 fighter bay cruiser with one dmod, salvage more
You spend money on supplies every day trying to find salvage though?
Legion is too slow and costly to be worth it really. It makes an alright tanky flagship for earlier game though.
how the fuck are you running out of suplies while salvaging?
Yes, basically the effects only apply to the ship you are controlling. i don't know if the benefits apply if you jump to another ship in the middle of the battle, though. my guess is no.
lmao what? unless your hauling like 3 capitals your pretty much always gonna get more supplies then you use.
can't find any salvage
I must be blind but there wasn't anything in the systems I went to
>lvl 3 pirate hideout
>deal enough damage to cause an overload
>it drops shields so I can wail on it
>hp never drops by even a sliver
wtf how do I damage this thing I even killed all its protective ships and any fighters I instantly destroy
Alright anons I need your help.
Sitting at about 3.3 million right now with a semi-decent fleet. Been scouting lots of sectors for a place to start my empire. I found 12 potentially decent sectors. Already have a bunch of shit stocked up including AI cores, both types of nanoforge, and one of those fuel tumor things.
Which would you choose?
Playing Ironman so I need to make smart guy choices.
go to systems with pirate activity
5,6 and 7 look good, mostly prioritize the level of the planet over hazard rating.
I like those ones, I also really like 10 but it's right next to a heavy remnant system. Will they raid just because of the proximity or do remnants not raid colonies?
What is Distant Worlds?
Right off the bat, I'd say 10 looks very promising. Char is OK, and Morga is probably among the best planets in the sector.
5 is also good, Kaliya has lots of shit and The Fastness will have bonus pop growth due to the decivilization ailment.
10 wins, though.
Yes, with Nexerelin, but it's not tied to proximity.
Is what stellaris should have been, except it was made by an indie studio ten years ago and looks like it.
Not using Nexerelin since it's my first playthrough. Good to know though thanks, I'll keep it in mind when I eventually install it.
5 actually has one more planet, a barren-desert world I didn't survey. I can't remember now if it was because I was out of supplies or if there were remnant there.
Assault chainguns when the shields are down
Is it worth colonizing a planet purely for Vast Ruins?
HELP
Go for 5, then. One more thing to consider is how far these systems are from the core worlds, simply for convenience purposes. I am 15 days away from my home system, it's a real drag to go back everytime I produce a new starship.
Big no
They can net you everything from alpha cores to capital blueprints
Just make sure it never goes over 3^10 population
1 5 7 and 12 look good. I'm inclined for 12 because you can create a very profitable farm from the get go, but its your choice.
if you have other high value planets on the same system, yes. otherwise no.
Not like I fucking bought it.
>all three ships are not in formation are far apart form each other
>bottom cruiser just decided to yolo it and go after lonely kite shuttle
>literally managed to get surrounded without destroying a single ship
How did you manage to get entangled in that one?
I just double checked. 5 has a high warning beacon. I remember now The Fastness literally has a remnant station orbiting it. I surveyed while in dark mode. Looks like I'm going with 10. They are both about the same distance from the core 15 or so ly.
Also should I colonize one planet and then wait til it's established to start the 2nd? I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with 10. Since it's my first time idk how fast this 3 million is gonna disappear.
Should I even bother keeping marines around? It seems like you need a fuck ton of them to do any raids. I wanted to keep a small force of marines with me to do some light raiding to keep myself afloat while killing enemies of the hegemony behind enemy lines. However, it seems even small planets have like a 600 defense or whatever. How many marines would you consider "worth it"?
I am pure garbage at controlling ships and the XIV Legion has done so much for me all on its own that I usually let the AI take care of almost everything. I'm gonna have to learn to git gud soon enough, this battle just went all the way south.
start with char and a farm so that your people don't need to import food, then when the colony grows, go for mining and begin planning for the second colony.
Anyone know how to get the Sylphon Outcasts ships/blueprints in the campaign? That variable-ammo battleship is sexy
3M is plenty enough to colonize two planets at the same time. With that level of hazard, you won't be losing more than 30K a month grand total, and you'll start making money as soon as you've built your first industry.
they COULD, but it's very unlikely. Tech mining as a whole is sort of a waste, by the time you could set up a colony you most likely already have most of the blueprints and lots of AI cores.
My concern with 7 is that it's very far from the core, like twice the distance as all the other systems.
With 12 is having one planet with the abundant farming better than say 10 where there are two planets with farming but the penalty?
Since this is my first colony I don't fully understand how the resources work. I was under the impression that having the farming icon with the penalty was better than none at all.
Nah. Just know where you can get troops if you need them. Carting marines around is a waste of resources unless you are raiding full time.
Where do I find more pilots? I haven't found a pilot all game and I am maybe 10 hours in? There has been just me. I tried going to bars but it says that they are agents. Are agents and pilots the same thing?
All you need is a buttload of fuel to make those marines turn a profit.
open comm directory and look for merc officers that you can hire
but isn't... isn't fuel bombing people illegal?
Don't be shy with the battle orders buttons. I usually like to start each battle by telling my ships to escort each other, that creates a semblance of discipline and coherent battline.
You could say that about 90% of whats happening in the sector RIGHT NOW
select smaller ships and right click a big ship to have the smaller ones escort the big ship. For me it works best for monitor ships since they are basically frigates that give away everything offensive in exchange for defensive.
Not when it's "tactical".
Appreciate the tips. I'll take some time to learn the commands properly soon enough.
>want to join a faction of dakka
>everyone is midline or hightech
Which one of these faggots love dakka like me? I don't want to grind for hours to join the shitty pirates who will end up getting high tech blueprints eventually
Only if you leave survivors...
>like twice the distance as all the other systems.
distance is not a problem, if anything, the colonies become a refueling station for the corners of the map
>With 12 is having one planet with the abundant farming better than say 10 where there are two planets with farming but the penalty?
there is no real penalty, but given that you only have two industry slots per planet, do you really want to have two planets with the same industry? so far, i have a single planet with abundant farming feeding 7 colonies of varying size and they still have enough extra product to export to other factions. I'd rather use the extra farming slot on a military base/command base than on a farm.
>I was under the impression that having the farming icon with the penalty was better than none at all.
if the planet has no farming icon(of any kind) then you can't place a farm there, but its a non issue since the colony will trade for the resources they need. that's why a single planet with a high output of farming is important, because that single planet can feed the rest of your faction with no problem.
Pirates with the Underworld mod. And Arkgneisis has some dakka too. Pic related
Is the early game of this as hot trash as the early game of Warband is?
How many faction mods at the same time is too many?
lmao git gud shitter
When you pilot a carrier, is it possible to specify which suqadron's target? I haven't yet found how to control them aside from the engage/regroup option.
Picture unrelated
Assign pussy officers to your carriers, they'll stay as far away from combat as possible.
Any idea where I could get frontline capital ship like Onslaught or similar? Playing as pirates and I only buy pirate ships while every other ship has been salvaged after combat. Same with most of my weapons. But I'm just having really tough time to find any salvageable capital ships. Can't even buy them from Prism Freeport.
Why the fuck are fun games in questionable form like Java and unity Yea Forums? My 2000 usd PC is getting ridiculous under used.
is there any reason i shouldn't recover every single ship possible and immediately scrap them for resources? is the crew consumed for restoration gone?
>the Pandemonium is essentially two Maelstroms welded together
>has 2x the weapon mounts
>has the same fucking flux stats
R
It reduces the amount of supplies and fuel you gain from the post battle salvage
How is it that planets are over taken by other factions? For example, I see a weak planet of the tech jews here in a hegemony system. I want the hegemony to take it. How could I make that happen? It says if I "saturation" bomb it, it will destroy the colony. Which is what I want. But independents and luddic church will hate me?
I really wish there was a "go first and tank" order for my AI captain piloting the capital ship
Play Nex mod and order invasions there, especially if you have a Hege commission
because you get more salvage if you just scrap them initially rather than just recovering then scraping
which fighters are best for fucking with shields or overloading the enemy? i want to try a setup with tanky fighters fucking the shields up while I use explosive weapon on the carrier
take it for yourself and in the contacts section, tell your secretary to give it to the faction of your choice, although I don't know if this is only possible with nexerelin.
Thanks user will check out.
Is there a mod to make the sector larger?
>scuttle a ship
Vs.
>restore ship to minimal performance state and THEN scuttle it
no wonder you are getting less stuff that way.
Nexerelin allows you to put more colonized planets per system, but that's about it.
I don't know if it's how it exactly works, but in my pirate run at the moment, I have stipend with them and when I invade a planet and then just take the spoils, it goes right to pirates. I'm not sure if that's how it works for all factions.
If it doesn't you can just capture it yourself, and then talk to the base commander and give it to your faction of choice.
Broadswords and Longbow with the Heron's system
I savescum all the time
cobras and longbows
are lux and flashes good fighter/bombers or is remmant tech just a meme?
me too but I do the same in M&B, it would probably take me a month to get anywhere without savescumming
that's fine. however you get your fun is alright.
I found this thing adrift with only one D-mod and spruced it up for surprisingly cheap, but I have no idea how to kit it out. This seems like a decent setup to you guys?
i don't think that the hypervelocity canons at the back are doing something useful. you'd be better by changing them for PDs.
it's stated right in the description that fielding more maelstroms is more effective than a pandemonium
but you can't beat the sheer big dick burst damage of 4 uhlan siege lasers
>fps 60
what teh fuck
drop safety overrides, it fucks your range which is crucial on capitals. ITU is superior to DTC if you have it. Drop reinforced bulkheads and if you want more survivability replace it with heavy armor.
Lux are great heavy fighters to either deal with frigates or distract capitals with flares. Flashes are better piranhas. Not to mention both are drones so no crew losses.
I have an i7 overclocked to 5.2ghz
yes. Flashes are weird because their mines have no FoF recognition, but the fighters eat everything that you throw at them
but is it worth to take flashes over daggers/tridents?
You know, if this game was written in C# instead of Java you could have ten times this number of ships at 60fps on an a laptop with integrated graphics.
Just saiyan.
seriously making friends with independents is 10x more rewarding than other factions, I just go from planet to planet picking up quests and making way more money than bounties or exploration
>soviet anthem playing
i haven't found a single independent base yet
>I just go from planet to planet picking up quests
you can do those types of quest for any faction, even pirates
not really, the bombs are indiscriminate so if you're up close to an enemy they'll come up behind you and take out your own engines because they're stupid like that
yeah but independents pays much more and most are just delivery
>tfw barely scraped through the tutorial, poor as fuck, constantly running out of supplies, ships literally falling apart and exploding
how do I make money early game
I'll give those a shot, thanks.
Daggers are great with longbows, trident are a bit too op heavy for just one more torp on a slower platform. Like piranhas, flashes are very great when massed.
how are fucking up this badly
>Your relationship with the Hegemony, currently at -75 (vengeful) is already well-established and is not affected
I am very sorry officer, but for the millionth time, I will not turn on my transponder.
Reminder that using AI cores to boost your industry isn’t worth the price you pay either in bribes to keep investigations away or in reputation when the investigations come and find the core or evidence of its removal.
They’re MEGA not worth it if you put them in charge of your colony as admin. Play it safe folks, don’t use free port and don’t use AI until you’ve decided to become a warlord and wipe everyone else out.
step 1: stop salvaging every ship you find because you're not going to be able to support them
step 2: do exploration missions
it's that easy
Look harder their everywhere, but they might be hard to see because there font color looks nearly exactly the same as unpopulated planets
>>tfw barely scraped through the tutorial
Even if you didn't exploit the market in the tutorial, you should have like 30k credits from rewards, plus a hammerhead and condor. Costs like 1 supply per day to maintain.
>tfw space sovereign citizen
kek
I wonder who could be behind this post
It is if you have a lot or can resist the Hegemony
do delivery mission or sell lobsters
can't unsee
I just kill everyone who comes to bother me. It is very profitable
>construction completed on battlestation just as pirate raiding fleet shows up
Better luck next time, space somalis
Exploration or transport missions. For the former you need a fuel tanker ship or two so you can actually reach the required places. Often enough you get money for the finished job and the system itself might also have some expensive loot for you to pick up as a bonus. For transport jobs you need to land on stations and go to bars and see if anyone needs a transport job, it's basically free money.
Or just become a drug mule. Press F1 while hovering over drugs or any other commodity to see where you can buy low and sell high. Luddic Path planets usually have a high demand for that shit.
>use AI cores for literally everything
get a steady supply of debris fields to salvage and derelict ships to recover
>red planet mission
what the fuck there is a story in this game? I thought I was just supposed to fuck around with cool ships and jew the sector?
Its just a little side-mission, there's no actual story
I've been salvaging everything I find and then selling it at the orbital station, I thought it would be profitable but I've ended up spending all my credits on supplies for repairs
Pls no bully
paragons fucking suck
as soon as you get one it sucks all the fun out of battles, you can put your best officer on it and go afk, impossible to lose
Hardly a "story".
>there's this red planet and it's spooky
>go talk to this guy to learn more
>bribe him 10-20k credits, get location
>go to planet, kill some [redacted] and loot the place
t. Beta AI
Listen, I don’t know what you have to prove, but I don’t want to fight invasion fleets every other week from the actual armies. I want to make mega bucks being an independent nation while I explore the off worlds and return to a safe, slow growing set of colonies that only gets raided by pirate fleets and easily crushes them every time. I also want to be able to visit the core worlds without having to fight a fleet at every jump point.
I sold the hegemony which I am a part of the blue prints to build midline ships and now I see a hammer head in its fleet buy list.. is this good or bad? Is them making this stuff going to reduce the chance of me seeing other ships? Also, should I just keep funneling blue prints into the hegemony? I want them to wipe out the tech jews and win the war.
It's a Bethesda story.
If you sold a salvaged ship once and notice it didn't generate a profit, why would you keep doing it?
Only way you'll get a profit from salvaged ships is with the industry skill that repairs newly salvaged ships 20-40% instantly for free, then immediately suspend the repair. But even that is not really worth the effort.
LOOK AT DIS DOOD
are there any ships that can aid with raids and other ground operations? I want to carry more marines.. but is it a good idea?
I am pretty sure the hammerhead is a starting ship for the Hegemony.
IT JUST WORKS LITTLE LIES MONEY FLOWS IT JUST WORKS
>are there any ships that can aid with raids and other ground operations?
Valkyrie Troop Transports
>I don’t want to fight invasion fleets every other week from the actual armies.
Two well developped colonies in the same system both with patrol HQs and your faction can beat pretty much anything they throw at you.
And they're going to send invasion fleets regardless, what's another AI inspection every once in a while?
lmao what a doofus
which faction typically makes the valkyrie? I don't think I have ever seen one. then again, I haven't been playing long.
But they don’t.
I have 2 nearly max level colonies, both without free port and without any AI (although I have a bunch of them in storage) and I’ve been making bank while also being left alone and having a safe place to rearm and refuel for free.
I also would like to emphasize, I like going to the core worlds without needing to literally fight everyone all the time.
Ironically considering their codex entry, Valkyries are pretty rare
I dont even know which faction you'd usually see them in
It's pretty rare, I think I've only seen it once or twice on the open market
I think it shows up in military markets more often but you'll need a commission to get it
So how fucked are you if you default the loan. I am thinking of doing it on that 2mil loan
do you have any blueprints? otherwise the biggest ship your defenses will produce will be the Venture.
don't do it bounty hunters are the dirtiest fuckers in the game
If you used the 2 mil to arm yourself to the teeth, you’ll be fine... Unless they have a paragon.
You ever see those giant bounty hunter armadas floating around?
Hope you can beat that
either longbows or the lux heavy fighter
how?
I don't know how you did that but that's not normal. As soon as you get a significant market share of just about any commodity, one faction or another will send an expedition to attempt to kick your shit in.
Also why would you want to be left alone when 95% of this game is its combat?
Newbie here, Found an Alpha core should I sell this thing or hold onto it for the long haul? I only have 300k so I'm really far from a colony
you gun get hunted down corporate style
Bought one from independent military market.
I think hedgemony and sintria carries them too but you'll probably need a commission.
pisses me off that they won't leave you alone with this shit, hell just fucking fight me but stop interrupting my fleet
they camp hyperspace
if you really want to sell it, give it to the tri tachyon dude. they pay triple for it and gives you rep for their faction.
Alpha is rare and can't be reliably farmed.
The other two are whatever, they drop often on survey probes/ships.
I’ve been going out to discover as many blueprints as I can, and learning them all. As well as buying them when I can. I have so many I lost count, including a lot of remnant ones that I got from exploring black hole systems. I’ve been focusing on defenses though despite not being under much threat. Fully upgraded space station, heavy batteries, patrol HQ, planetary shield. I have like 6k defense rating and I want to be absolutely 100% sure my system is well defended. Working on upping the defenses on my second and third planet now, one of which has ultrarich ores and ultrarich rare ores I’m using as my one stop mining, refining, and heavy industry shop. Haven’t gotten it up to size yet to have heavy industry yet.
is pic related OP as fuck? am I a bad person for using this?
I keep in the good graces by doing missions for the faction after they attack me, get BTFO, and I lose 5 rep.
pirates and pathers are the only ones affected by blueprint selling
Have you checked its maintenance cost?
There you just found out why nobody flies this thing.
If it's that rare I guess I'll try to hold onto it. Will ti get confiscated as contraband? I'm making most of my money smuggling right now.
>efficiency overhaul on a frigate
why? maintenance can't be more than a couple of points. what you really need here is something to boost the range of those antimatter blasters.
15 supplies to send it into a fight, costs more per day then a fucking battleship, and it just has two medium mounts. its trash if you wanna fly a Frigate just get a tempest.
In my opinion, the supply cost is too high and you need to put in too much work for what you get out of it.
Yes, but just have a mule in your fleet and its shielded cargohold will block scans.
1) Any way to stop pirates making OP ships I accidentally sold them?l blueprints for?
2) Is there a way to improve relations with the Luddic Path? I actually like the idea of being friends with them, using them to attack others indirectly and arming them up so they crush them easier. I already trade with them a lot but I’d prefer being on positive relations as well so they don’t send cells after me... I mean they haven’t yet but I fear they might.
>Is there a way to improve relations with the Luddic Path
Mostly the same as any other faction. Mass trade, delivery missions, turn in AI cores, etc.
Huh, Hegemony just scanned me and didn't care. I'll still get some shielded cargoholds just in case though
???
I've explored tons of black holes systems and never found anything of the sort. Should I comb the empty space away from the center and the black hole itself, or am I just being unlucky?
nigger who gives a damn, I'm sitting on 10mil+ right now and it keeps going up thanks to my colonies without me even moving a finger but wasting hundreds of thousands on supply for fruitless expeditions.
on the other hand with this I destroy 10 enemy ships per fight of which 4-5 are destroyers or cruisers. totally worth it.
well i'd say that using it takes lots of skill and is also lots of fun, this single ship has made me enjoy fights in this game when I was about to quit them for good
this specific frigate has a crazy maintenance cost, but I'm also considering your point
I'm at the end game but this is incredibly tedious, pirate raids come non-stop to my systems.
Is there a mod that can make me send fleets to their bases or something?
If you find a ship and it gives you the option to salvage and you say no you still scrap it for supplies/fuel/metal + items. The supplies and fuel you get are usually worth more than selling the junk ship. There is almost no reason to ever sell junk ships, just scrap them because the supplies and fuel are more valuable.
If it's a ship you want to use at some point you can salvage it and then mothball it and then take it to an abandoned station where you can store it til you have more money. If you do not mothball or suspend repairs as soon as you salvage the ship it will start spending supplies repairing it which you do not want.
If you find a ship that looks cool I'd only suggest salvaging if it has 2 or less damage modifiers (the orange rectangles), maybe 3 if it's a really cool ship. The increased maintenance dmod is one of the worst once as the ship will use way more supplies. You shouldn't field a lot of ships with it otherwise your supply cost will go way up.
There is an abandoned station in the Corvus sector where you can store ships and items for free at no cost. You can bring mothballed ships there and store them til you have money/supplies to repair or restore them. Restoring a ship removes all the dmods and is done from the Refit menu, but it costs a lot of money.
4xSabots
Hv driver, 2xRails, and the biggest cannon you can find on aft mid
2x Mjolnirs 2xHeavy autos 4xRails on aft port and starboard
2xPd of you choice on aft port and starbord
nothing in back
Rest into missile racks, flux hullmods, vents, armor hullmods, and then capacitors in this order
>Use burn drive to close distance to enemy capital, eat damage with armor, deploy shields and fire all 4 sabots instantly dropping its shields and overloading it, open up with front cannons and slaughter the target in under 60s
Nexerelin lets you hire fleets to attack targets
>Is there a mod that allows me to-
Nerexelin.
You know the abandoned terraforming station in Hegemony space? Just store it in there until you have your own colonies.
you can also store it on an abandoned station. I use the one in Corvus but I know there are a couple others in the core worlds.
will the hegecucks/church cucks immediately be tipped off if I pop an alpha core in my colony?
I feel so strong now I don't think they could even do anything about it
is there a reason why some carriers just stop attacking? they still bring out fighters and the fighters just stay next to the carrier.
when they have 0 combat readiness or so, they will stop sending fighters out.
What ship do you guys use for chasing fleeing enemies?
Right now I'm using a tempest with safety overrides because its pretty fast and can take small shit down quick with its damage skill and 2 medium energy mounts.
Alright I have made it to end game and want to start over. What are some good mods that will give me some more end game shit to do?
Anyone have some tips for how I should fill out my fleet? I have about 500k saved atm and have bee doing exploration/delivery missions for a while, but all the pirate bounties are starting to get to large to kill.
WHAT THE FUCK!? THE HEGEMONY CALLED A CEASE FIRE AGAINST THE TECH JEWS!? The tri tachyon were my primary enemies. Now what the fuck do I do? I was roleplaying as a hegemony soldier just getting gritty and doing work in the field. WET WORK!
Now I have no enemies except for long distance ones I guess. Is this what its like to be a soldier in times of peace? What the fuck do i do now? Bash pirates?
Sell those small civilian ships, I doubt you're using them at all.
Sell two buffalos, get one colossus instead.
Get some hammerheads and an eagle or two. Another heron wouldn't hurt either.
Hire some officers and put them in your biggest ships.
more sunders, with high intensity lasers and graviton beams a sunder gang can delete ships very fast
Eagles are pretty neat. Slap 3 HVDs on them, pulse lasers, harpoons and you got a very solid long range cruiser which is mobile enough to keep itself at range and out of danger. Get rid of those frig shits, they barely contribute to any battle and blow up when hit by anything.
>ai can shoot their missiles even when they are overloaded
what
But they cant
You could just commit warcrimes and continue the war forcibly
IBB bounty ship just did
>40k LARPing
ew
Thanks, I didn't know those would preserve your loot
>What the fuck do i do now?
Time to join the space jews. Alpha core time.
Sure they didn't fire just before overload? Missiles cost 0 flux to use and have a delay so it's probably all they had.
My nigga.
posting infographics
Was it the titanX?
I have been in the last three threads, screaming at user's not to fucking sell nanoforges, fuel, or blueprints to the pirates.
Yet they still do.
They must love being invaded by 6+ armada's with 4-6 battleships each.
just let them learn.
This is some John Madden shit right here.
If a faction im allied with is fighting another fleet of pirates, how do I help out my allies in the fight?
Do I click on the allied fleet or the pirate fleet?
I mean, I sold one corrupted nanoforge by accident. No blueprints though. I've sold them all to the Hegemony.
>Genocide Outpost, part of Reparations Society
What in the god damn?
it doesn't matter.
Either one, then select join battle.
If I have 2 colonies in 1 system, should I get High Command on both or will just 1 suffice?
Alpha AI
just get 1
>decided to fuck up the hegemony's biggest weapons producer so I become the top dog of the market
>do a raid before
>get XIV onslaught battleprint
thank you semitism for this boom
When it comes to carriers should I just use missiles, flak pd and long range lasers?
>install nexerelin and underworld along with some other mods
>hanging out with the tri-tach boys fucking up the perseans
>kinda forget about underworld for a bit
>some fucking techno blasting weeblords run up to me and ask for 100k as an invite to their LSD laced rape dungeon
>tell em to piss off and smoke their fleet
if you want me to join you, make sure to send someone actually threatening next time
Depends on what carrier
>Find a system with multiple good planets. One that can grow food(if at a -1) and organics, and rare metals at a +3

I think I found where to build my faction.
shill me this game, it's not even on steam, how did it became so popular?
Damn son, lay a claim as fast as possible.
/our guy/ made a video on it
Are there any mods that make it so the characters aren't all Amerimutts? I don't want to see brown goblins every time I hail someone on comms.
It's basically Mount & Blade in space, but 2D.
>how did it become popular
Youtube memer Sseth Tzeench made a video about it and at the end of the video he just showed his real actual CD key and told people to go play it.
I fully intend to. I just need to get the starting cash to get the first colony off the ground.
>tfw the only faction that has never given me shit for my colony is is the tri-kikes
yeah, they're alright in my book
tri-kikes are the least nigger faction
they dont give a fuck about what war crimes you do
they dont care about how many babies you harvest for organs
they just want those sweet sweet AI cores
>weighed somehow by the distance to the center.
It's fucking not, Alex directly deconfirmed this already.
>No rule of law or morals
>Least nigger
I think you don't understand how niggers work
anarcho-capitalism is the white man's political ideology
There are portrait packs available and you can swap out vanilla ones to ensure they never show up. The Persean Sector is so diverse because the Domain of Man dropped off shitters before deactivating the gates. It makes sense why after 200 cycles they still can't get their shit together.
Heavy industry
Blueprints become useful
>he didn't start selling drugs to the pirates when the planet officer told you "hey senpai my guys wont hastle you when you turn off your coms till you do this job for me"
literally made 100k in a half hour
Fuel makes more money, Industry lets you custom order ships.
>every single pirate ship has fucking engine disabling missiles
why the fuck?
what mods?
>100k in half an hour
bro just buy drugs, babies and armaments from tri-tachyon and sell them to the jihadists and make at least a mil an hour
So, nothing will happen to my colony unless i decide to take out the alpha-core admin right?
Can you make independents powerful by selling blueprints and nanoforges?
Can you do the tutorial stuff in Nex?
No. Selling either only powers up the Pirates, and only if you sell on the black market.
I think.
Probably because they're pirates
Does a military base make as big a difference in security as it implies? These patrol HQ fleets are dinky.
My battlestation can't carry me forever
Upgrade to the final tier of station, get heavy batteries, and use planetary shield. You don’t even need patrol HQ at that point... but best to have it anyway.
These posters don’t have wolves or tempests
Pretty suspicious how all the trash the Dominion didn't want ended up in the same sector at the same time right before the gates cut off, huh?
Thx
patrol hqs only send out 2 fast pickets
military and high command sends out light, medium, and heavy patrols that scale with colony size
Any benefits of keeping world surveys or just sell them?
Also seems like a bad idea to sell your colony survey too yeah?
>remnant fragment flights directly on your path on an unbeaconed system
now what smart guy?
Wait a second... you mean...
But I thought it was because they tried to transfer an AI through the gates and shit went bonkers and now after shenanigans the Luddic church is actually led by that AI.
No downside, it’s just a flat fee you get for discovering things. With so much to discover it makes for a good source of profit for awhile. But with so many other more lucrative and even easier methods once you sold all data for the world’s near the core it’s solely just to help pay off the cost of your curiosity.
That was something someone posted last thread but he never provided a source.
Thats because its mere speculation, there is no stated reason as to what happened to the gates
As far as we know the entire gate system collapsed
Speaking of sources:
>One such alliance was formed by the only real marines in the sector at the time of the Collapse. A detachment sent by the Domain pre-Collapse, as matter of policy, they were hardly an elite unit. However, they had the equipment and the mentality to be fighters. The name of the unit was the 465th Legion, and their settled world remains Selenius IV, in the Selenius system. They banded together with those they considered their fighting equals in space – a patrol wing of the Naval Colonial Security Forces, based off the asteroid belt in the Sanguinar Major system. Neither one of the units accepted the control of Task Force Pollux and fought for the independence of their planets. They fought not only the Hegemony, but pirates and corsairs, warlords, Ludii and other small time alliances.
I found this here fractalsoftworks.com
that user was fucking retarded
just found all this stuff in a derelict space station next to my very first bounty skirmish
holy crackers
I have a high tech battlestation, will that hold off pirate armadas? I saw a fleet almost destroy my first tier station and now I'm paranoid
Thx
How long does it take to decivilize a world?
I got tired of hegemony penis inspection day and started raiding every single one of their worlds. It's been almost a cycle, with repeat visits to 'top up' the instability, and none of their worlds have decivilized. Am I doing something wrong? They're all like -19 stability.
Also, can anyone recommend a late-game setup for surveying? Fuel and supply costs for my combat fleet are so utterly ridiculous it's not worth going far.
The game has changed quite a bit
Even in that same article it states the domain ruled from earth, yet now we know earth ceased to be important and even was destroyed at some point long before the domain became a thing
To me they sound like independents.
Maybe a subfaction, but there's no independent colony fitting that description as of now.
Started the game for the first time last week and found a paragon blueprint + synchrotron on the tutorial world where you go to crew ships.
>Pick a gender neutral avatar
>Give my character a masculine name
>All the NPCs refer to me as a girl in the rare cases they refer to me at all
started a new game
no pirates to kill
salvage isn't profitable
down to like 10k credits and running low on supplies
this sucks
Analyze derelict missions, nigger
Oh yea, you good nigga.
I bit the bullet and bought a Promethus to go alongside three Phaetons. Three Collusus for storage. One Starliner. Expanded fuel/cargo/crew (respectively) and militarized systems on all of them. A tug and a survey ship. I find this to be a pretty effective support fleet for traveling all around, but I still want more cargo space.
I need an Atlas :(
They'll collapse eventually. Just keep raiding their star ports.
>late-game surveying setup
Surveying is expensive as fuck if you're trying to carry a bunch of battleships along. Stash the ships you don't need before a survey or get more colonies up to fund your exploration later on. Apogees can survive in Medium threat areas without much difficulty as long as the robot fleets don't gang up on you so they're a great cruiser for broke explorers.
Is three colossus better/cheaper than an atlas?
Fucking the only people who will sell me an atlas are the hegeMONEY and I need both commission and to be their personal dick sucker in terms of rep.
Why
Damn
>no pirates to kill
Check intel screen dummy
>salvage isn't profitable
It is if you take a derelict survey first (CHECK INTEL)
>running low on supplies
Just start a new game and apply yourself. If you need easy jobs to do while figuring the game out then go around bars looking for delivery missions. You'll know it's a delivery because a "concerned" individual will be one of the people you can talk to.
Cole ass sauce has 900 cargo, At-not-less has 2000
With militarized subsystems and augmented field drive you can bring to atlas to a total of +3 speed and 9 total. 9 is what I like to run at for all my fleets.
>this post
Go to the largest military worlds for any faction and keep checking their markets. Even the open market and black market will spawn superfreighters on rare occasions.
I killed more pirates than there are faction guards already, where do they come from?
>travelling through hyperspace
>super massive pirate fleet hits a storm and bounces to me before I can even react
anyways whats a good way to deal with frigate spam from these shitty pirates?
TEMPEST
>Ludicfags disrupt my new colony's spacestation for 120 fucking days
I'm bringing hell to these fuckers
killin' 'em
They spawn infinitely. They come from the randomly generated pirate bases out in the fringe worlds.
Use lots of anti-armor weapons.
So the 3rd level of coordinated maneuvers and electronic warfare both give 5% bonuses, right?
They're just shit?
No. An Atlas is more efficient than two Collusus in cargo space and upkeep plus you get an extra ship slot. That said I have given up on traveling fast, I think I'm at 7 burn.
Same but tritach for me
I just want to raise my colony, I don't need your wars, JUST SELL ME THE FREIGHTER
>1 atlas
>10 upkeep and 2000 cargo
>2 colossi
>12 upkeep and 1800 cargo
DO THE MATH BOYS SUPERFREIGHTERS ARE THE FUTURE
>he doesn't walk around red beacons full of [redacted] using with a huge ass fleet while having 100 or so profile
Plebs, I can fucking lure pirates into their turf then scavenge everything under their noses
Atmospheric battles when?
Tempest
>get caught
>100k replacement just for the big boi
>repeat
Even with augmented drive mods, your Atlas will never reach max burn speed, which automatically makes a ship garbage.
>pirate shit
>unmet demands
>probably a single planet in the system
>no cores
>shit administrator
>in middle of fucking nowhere
>in war with everyone
You asked for it, I bet you live in a fucking black hole system
So everything that isn't a frigate or destroyer is garbage? What kind of logic is that?
give them 20 bucks to fuck off
works every single time
anything that is a noncombatant that doesn't reach 10 is garbage.
You can get most ships to max burn, even a paragon. +2 from aug mod, +1 from navigation skill.
>he doesn't know
I tried to make a colony in one but its a pain
yes it just works
>played the game for years
>random person on youtube comments about it
>now I must hate the game because someone on Yea Forums said so
Sometimes I wonder if its really ironic shitpost or actual retarded people
