Am I an ironic weeb if Senran Kagura is my only weeb series, but it's because they draw the girls very well and they are very hot? I mean, that's why I buy Shantae games too.
Original fans of the series seem to hate current SK because how dumb down the characters and plot has gotten and making fan service the center piece. You could say fan service always been the center piece of the series but it was well balance out in the original 3DS games and wasn't over done unlike when the versus came to play. Now of these days it's hard to support the series because became a former shell of itself over the years. Only people who care about the series just want fan service and do stupid stuff in the dressing room.
Pirate Peach Beach Splash. Have some fun with that. If you want to know more about the girls, start with Burst Renewal, then Shinovi Versus, then Estival Versus. If you haven't killed yourself from redundancy yet, there's the spin offs (Reflexions, Bon-a-petit, Peach Ball, I feel like I'm forgetting one but whatever.) Personally I felt PBS is their strongest title, game-play wise. And the stories don't have a strong tie to the main story line so you won't feel out of place. But those first 2 are your best bets for actual fun.

It's been silently killed. Takaki, the man behind the series, left Marvelous and went to Cygames. There hasn't been any updates of 7, since Takaki's scuff with Sony.

No it's just a standard lock-on shooter with the visuals being water guns instead of real guns. It has some movement options but they're tied to the same meter as your ammo, so you end up limiting yourself anyway.
Can you really call it content if you are just grinding one stage over and over?
It was very telling when their oppai day stream was mostly about their new game and the only SK stuff they talked about was for the gacha.
to clarify, 'movement options' means using a water-based Mario Sunshine jetpack. Like that. You're character is not on rails or anything. You have total freedom of movement.
It's shit. SK died with 2 and it definitely didn't get enough support.
Grinding cards is optional, though. Between the main story, side stories, over 1000+ cards/art, intimacy mode/dressing room, etc etc - there is definitely more content than any other SK game.

Senran Kagura had a fluke where the anime of the first game came out at the same time as the first Vita game. The sales numbers led to overprinting SK2, which sold about what a sequel to Senran Kagura would sell and tons of unsold stock. Obviously the answer was to double down on the Vita/PS4/PC versions of the game and make gacha mobile games.
Like, not even trying to start a debate, I just don't see the appeal. Her looks are mid-tier compared to other Senrans, and she's just SUCH A CUNT. SK2 was doomed to fail due to expectations being all over the place from everyone. Sucks too because it's objectively the best game in the series with the most soul. And it sucks even more because the final patch for the game broke a combat mechanic (can't launch stunned enemies) and it'll never be fixed.

I didn't watch all of it, but she was pretty much the MC of it. The very first episode is 90% filler staring Yumi, and then it ends with all of Hanzo jobbing off-screen and getting captured so they don't get to have any role in the story.
She faces the final boss alone, who manages to "kill" Yumi. The rest of Gessen are there but rather than having them avenge her or something like that, they simply shit talk the villain for thinking she won. Yumi then powers up again and quickly finishes her off.

Is your team composed of only free cards or something? I have a very shitty team without any sinergy at all and I can beat everything story related without problem. The only things I can't beat are those super difficult event towers, but those don't have any story at all anyways.
A lot of the story chapters are just filler or promotional stuff but the "main" story chapters are pretty good.

Storywise it wasn't that far off EV either, I guess my biggest grip with it was the excessive DLC, but I ended up pirating everything with the PC version anyways.

I've only played the Shinovi Versus and Estival Versus games and only Miyabi's story in Burst Re-Newval, so I don't know about the story of the first two games. But that is my entire problem with the series, I feel like you can have tons of fanservice spread out through the entire story, but it just keeps on going from 0, to 60, then back to 0 all over again.

That does help but you still lose out on each girl having their own moveset. When you get to this point in the series, you're just in it for the characters and that's just another side of them you're missing out on. They also condensed the side missions so they didn't have to do one for each girl.

I liked the idea of having team based stories and I think that format should've been used in the main games too, for both the main story and side stories like the dual shinobi heart dlc, but like with everything in the series it was lost potential, repeating the same jokes as ever or focusing in a single girl with the rest as tag alongs.
It's a pair of very sad tables the size of my ass, and 90% of the shots are toward the waifu that takes up 70% of the stupid things.
