They didn't fail, they wanting to implement shaders into their c++ engine and having maximum performance, the one they showed during e3 was staged the real was suffers from random crashes and graphical bugs, also mc bedrock has render distance of 75 or something i don't remember but it runs really smooth thanks to that engine
