Literally every single immersive sim series has died from low or lackluster sales in the past 5 years (Thief, Dishonored, Deus Ex, Alien:Isolation, Prey, even Metal Gear if you consider it one).

Everything is riding on System Shock 3, and I bet Nightdive's 5 year stint dicking with the remakes/remasters/enhancements of the franchise will somehow fuck that one up with bad press.

Underworld Ascendant was a bomb and they rebooted the System Shock Remake because they didn't know what the fuck they were doing. That's their outright reason for doing so.

Doesn't matter if Thi4f was a shit game, the series is effectively dead. Long hiatus + bad sequel means we probably aren't seeing a new one for a long while.

Two different teams. I don't like Otherside's track record but at least they've published a game (Specter should help... ) Nightdive has just coasted on the System Shock name for 3 years while unnecessarily switching engines and managing to produce the same 4 levels over and over. But if SS1 remake comes out first and sucks, SS3 is going to have to work four times as hard to pull the series back to profitability (unlikely).

I feel like I got enough fallout, despite loony toons 3 and pants on head retarded 4 (didn't play). I just wish the people buy those games at least new it was an interplay/black isle creation, and Bethesda just grabbed the coat tails.

Pokemon, I suffered through the 3DS era building a collection hoping they'd go balls to the walls on hardware that could handle the models only for the culling to happen.

It's like a point by point recreation of Resident Evil 1's game design, unfortunately also complete with unskippable cutscenes just like in the 1996 original.

Pokemon. Started with Gen 1, and each gen got better and better until Gen 4. Gen 4 was peak competitive. Gen 5 was good, but then the series just started going south, culminating into the abomination that is Gen 8.
