Saints Row 2 was good by mistake, every game since has been exactly what the devs wanted all along (shit).

Remember Ride to Hell: Retribution? That game was announced in 2008, got its development rebooted a couple of times and in the end it was just trash.

So the only thing we know is that it's a Saints Row game and they've been thinking about it for years. Was Gat Out of Hell and Agents of Mayhem not that well-received?

How To Throw Away Your Potential: The Game. It could've been so great if they just didn't do so many little things wrong. Somehow it got a board game, though, and from what I saw, it looks like people are actually buying it, so good on them I guess.

I love both Saints Row and Timesplitters, i didn't know THQ could be so blessed.

3 was great, it just had a whacky fucking intro.
4 was kinda shit though, mostly because it was a "You're in the Matrix, Neo!" asspull with super powers.

I liked the 4th game, 3rd was okay. Are the first two really that good or is this just a meme?

SR3 was good despite being very short and having too wacky start.
SR4 was okay, and had some moments that either made you burst out loud or cringe.

2nd game has a great map, more restraint with the stupidity as well.

from what I hear Saints Row 2 was like the San Andreas of the series. I havent gotten around to playing it either.

SR2 had a nice balance between wacky shit and serious shit. They lost that completely in later games

Some people say Agents of Mayhem was based off of Gat's wish. I'd prefer to see a crooked cops kinda saints row game. They aren't the saints but they're just really bad police.

I love the more "lol so randumb" kinda feel of the newer saints row titles honestly. Beats a game pushing some sorta agenda.

Bethesda have used the same engine since Morrowind and every Battlefield/Battlefront game has been a copy-paste with a different instagram filter since BF3.
You can be guaranteed that SR5 will be the same engine but "touched up" and still just as crashy/buggy (and plenty of multiplayer disconnects)

it's very much like san andreas. you do cool shit with your gang of interesting characters and the whacky moments are spaced out enough that they don't get tiresome

There are no "wacky moments" in 2, outside of the side activities which are disconnected from the plot. Main story is actually full of hard hitting shit, and it's over the top in the way the best hollywood movies are, always taking itself seriously.

it also have some very heavy moments, which contrast great against the not so serious ones
