just beat pic related. I would start playing the second one immediately, but I've heard on here that it's the worst of the franchise. Should i play through it, or read a synopsis of the story?
FUCK MUNDUS AND HIS TINY RED LASERS

replay 1 on hard bitch

what but prepare to lube up because game stops fucking around
you can skip 2 because its weakest game in whole franchise that doesnt really add anything significant to the story and go straight to 3, but be warned because it doesnt fuck around at all and this game WILL fuck you

The events of dmc2 are practically never mentioned in later titles so feel free to skip it

You don't even have to bother reading a synopsis of the story, it's 100% inconsequential and worthless. Story-wise it would make literally 0 difference if it didn't exist.

mundus just tore me a new asshole on normal difficulty. you really want me to go through that again?

3 is a prequel and 2's story never affected anything else in the series. You can skip 2 and its sinopsis if you want.

The game is not as hard as you think. The fist playthroughs are always the hardest. Once you know what you are in for, where to go and boss tactics it's a much smoother ride.

yes, on hard mundus isnt that big of a deal
fat cat is the problem and appears multiple times per level and not always alone

If you got questions or want to know a few strategies, tips of tricks just ask.

Oh man fuck Mundus how the hell did i beat that when i was 12.

It's not the worst at all it's different. It's just like the granpa of a family, there are those who enjoy his old ass tales and ancient ways but even those who really don't want to be around that old idiot still treat him with respect at family reunions.

It's objectively a bad game, but if you're just playing through these games once to begin with just play it and see for yourself, it's not like it's an RPG that's gonna sap dozens of hours from you.

It's contender for best soundtrack in the series, so it does have some merits

Give 2 a shot just so you can understand what everyone is talking about.
You don't have to complete it, just try and give it a fair go and then drop it as soon as you start getting bored.

I don't see why it would be a bad game, you didn't explain. Take your chance i'm not an autist but i do take issue with your objectivity.

If you buy like 7 devil stars you can super easily cheese his fight. I didn't even play him legit until the HD version released.

Skip 2, it's a bad game and its story doesn't really tie into any of the other games.

I beat both discs as a kid.

>It's objectively a good game

Let him come up with a post i want to see his crits.

Guys he was calling DMC2 shit.

He's talking about 2

2 is bad but since I assume you have it you can give it a shot for context and insight. Replaying 1 on the greater difficulties first is probably the best option though.

Did the PS2 version of DMC1 have that weapon switching? I think I always used the menus since back then it was so uncommon for games to have real time weapon switching.

Shame it takes so long though, still it paved the god damn way for future action games.

Don't listen to these fags.
Play 2 for an ultimate DMC experience

Yeah, R3 in DMC1 on PS2 swaps between Alastor and Ifrit.

Play 2 to form your own opinion

A DMC thread with anons actually recommending the higher difficulties of the first and not just rushing to 3. what bizarro world have I stumbled upon today

Mundus is one of the only fights in the series where I use items to beat him. I could not be fucking bothered to do that terrible arcade shooter section at the beginning legitimately. Also, fuck the 2nd phase with those platforms. Depth perception on those fucking sucks.

Attached: 1565591569166.png (269x216, 94K)

Another user but I'll try to explain

Gameplay is fucking atrocious, melee weapons are shit, deal low damage meanwhile the pistols deal absurd damage and you will use them most of the time because of that and there is not incentive to try and engage in melee range.
Only good boss in this game is the final boss, all other bosses can be cheeses for a more easy time or because it's only way to actual deal damage (lmao possessed helicopter), some are stupid (lmao possessed tank), and boss arena have lots of unitended safe spots to make them even easier.
Water levels with a water boss that goes fucking invisible in it with forced changed moveset and a forced to use only missable harpoon gun, needless to say, they are both awful.

Levels are mostly extremely boring to look at it and there are some recycling levels in the late game and 99% of it is reused for Lucia missions in the same order too.
Common Enemies are boring and uninspired expect for a very few and the story is so fucking boring I even forgot there was one in the first place when I reached the villan of the game
Don't bother, if you really want to see how bad it is, play the rest first and play 2 later.

>not a single DMC5 fanboy praising it like a mindless bootlicker in sight.

blessed thread.

The only one bringing up DMC5 is you. However, I will say that 5 is great.

This thread truly is a gift of light

Look man i've been up for 24 hours, i have another 24 ahead of me and i just got done arguing with a shithead. I don't think i have it in me to argue why i think a widely panned game is a hair shy of mediocre. I played the HD collection this year and i got the platinum for that shit so it was not the worst thing i have ever seen in my life, i've played action games that are lauded on this site as the best in the genre that i hated more than DMC2. I'll give you some bullet points off the top of my head.

>Even though the animation for your moves is fluid it's a very floaty game, for you and the enemies. It's bad at portraying momentum
>Encounter design is bizarre. Often levels are deserted with enemy spawns that don't feel that thought up
>Only one moveset per character except Trish
>Enemy design is really poor, they alternate between doing absolutely nothing and doing poorly telegraphed attacks
>Guns are busted, you can beat the whole game by just shooting the enemies, including bosses and some of the boss design actually encourages this
>Story and characters are forgettable and second rate compared to the other games in the series. Except Lucia since she cute.
>Very bland art design save for the look for the two main characters
>No atmosphere whatsoever, the game just feels like it takes place in a dead world

There's probably more that i can't think of right now. It's worth playing if you're curious, if you don't have the attention or drive and just want a good game, it's probably not. I don't regret playing it just to see what it's like. Here's a meme video to distract you from lack of properly formulated arguments:

You’re pretty much just supposed to focus on his balls, they give you a ton of DT and then you can just hit him and regen a ton of health.

R E N T F R E E

You're gonna get twice-fucked so you're in the ideal state to start over, yes. By the time you get through it you should be gud enough to tear Mundus seven assholes

Yeah, what this guy said. I just wish you only played as Dante in V.

Also DMC1 in hard is a cunt and a half.
>get stuck in that large sin scissors
>eventually beat him
>next mission makes you fight 2 shadows at the same time while your health is draining
>hitting one shadow while it’s not vulnerable causes it to throw spikes at you
>you will accidentally hit it constantly while hitting the vulnerable one

I should get back to it, but god damn.

>uses Roman and Arabic numerals in the same post
Decide which you wanna use and stick with it but if you wanna be precise, use Arabic numerals for all DMC games since they're all called 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, not I, II, III, IV and V

Well i feel foolish now.

Attached: 1529246896411.png (652x822, 944K)

The first phase is the easy part. Now that i think about it, beating Mundus on DMD for the first time might actually be the angriest i've ever been at a video game. I tried him again a few days ago out of curiosity and i died a bunch of times before i was able to beat him again somewhat consistently without items. It's all a matter of destroying the spike spitting balls he keeps laying down and parrying his big projectiles when he summons the big balls to him. There's quite a bit of RNG involved, both good and bad.

I also gave DMC3's boss rush mission a go and i sucked even harder. Faffing about for 20 minutes chasing a fucking chess piece around just to get to the proper fights just takes the motivation away though.

Sometimes i pull on it so hard i tear the heart from my chest.

Attached: good advice.jpg (1280x720, 58K)

Two is a genuinely terrible game, but if you are curious, I was able to beat it in under 3 hours the first time I played, so its not a big time investment if you are curious enough to play it.

You telling me i typed all that shit up for nothing? How can you even misinterpret my post?

Attached: REST IN PISS.jpg (1366x768, 193K)

So are there any cheats or whatever to unlock higher difficulties on HD PC collection? I've already beaten the games on DMD on PS2. Do I just use a trainer?

Daily reminder that you've got nothing and nothing's got you

Should be one for DMC3 that unlocks everything.

DMC2 is one of the few times people aren't being hyperbolic and it isn't just a matter of taste. 2 isn't the worst game ever but it is definitely a bad game through and through

>Don't worry

Well it was useful since you described why DMC2 is bad, it's more thorough than a simple DMC2 don't play it.

My daddy taught me a few things too like how not to tear the heart by filling it with someone else's light.

>he thinks he knows pain
Call me when you get to nightmare 3 on DMD

>What does D- Don't Worrry mean? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!
The Bit and Brit playthrough of DMC2 is a gem.

Do healing items effect your rating in 1? I remember hearing it did years ago so didn't use any ever so I wasn't scrubbing my way through the game. Does it actually or did I get memes?

Attached: cute cerberus.jpg (800x533, 100K)

It does for all the games

wish you could sell healing items for orbs or something

>filename
im sensing that something's not what it seems

Thanks Dante.

Now I'm die!
Where's your trash!?

What ever could give you that idea? :^)

>your nightmare begins here
>i'm gonna scum
>this will be your gravy
>it's over
>goodnight

DMC2 is complete shit, but you should see for yourself how shit it is.

The coin is the key to the whole plot. You'll see once DMC6 comes out.

>Only one moveset per character except Trish
What? I'm pretty sure DMC2 Dante has more moves than DMC1. Though they're all just sword swings and gun moves, lol.

Attached: Dante.full.2530459.png (1300x900, 905K)

I marathoned all the DMCs just very recently. I did skip 2, and checked a summary. In a hind sight, it was not worth even that much.

Do you know what the word "moveset" means? I haven't done the math but i doubt he has more moves in total than Alastor and Ifrit combined.

Try 2 for yourself and see if you like it. I don't think you should ever completely skip a game in a series you like just because someone else said to. I personally think DMC2 is pretty fun outside of some really garbage boss battles. Lucia's disc especially is really enjoyable.

>He plays dmc and does mess around with taunts at every chance.
No excuses!

Attached: Smoothest man alive.webm (640x360, 2.91M)

the coin was vergil

By moveset you mean different wepaons, right?
Well 2Dante has DT moves and SDT moves as extras, and yes he does have more moves than alastor and ifrit combined

Wait what the fuck's going down in China?

You're right, i forgot he has different strings when he is in DT. I would still consider that part of the same moveset though. I remembered SDT but that's kind of a special scenario.

It's where the surgery is the cheapest.

Yeah, but I would still say he has more moves than 1. I kinda find it funny though, they focused so much on quantity over quality in 2

Since i forgot those yes, he probably has more moves than 1.

I don't think it's a quantity over quality thing, i think they were just being creative within the bounds of their limitations. Like i said, i actually think the animations are surprisingly good and fluid for how much shit they get but they lack that acceleration and snappiness that the previous game and the sequels have. If you put those same animations in a different game that is intentionally designed to be slower paced and deliberate they would probably be considered to be pretty good.

Also this just reminded me that DT Kick 13 is still one of my favorite moves in vidya. It's so satisfying.

Mine too, I always try to make sure I have enough to purchase it as soon as I get Ifrit.

play it just to see how bad it is. it's pretty short at least.

Attached: 1553665919685.jpg (1274x912, 83K)

I hope more of these moves and ideas from 2 to be implemented in later entries, I hear that some want Dante to have a different moveset, maybe a more polished 2 moveset would do the job.
