The thing that gets me the most when people post Witcher 3 combat is that retarded spinning. It's so fucking gay.
I'm glad I played The Witcher 1 first so I didn't fall for the hype.

The combat in witcher is not bad, its just simple.
the only real flaw is the retarded spins and somewhat flow of it, it feels pretty weird like if you throw an attack it "latches on" to an enemy general direction.
Not really surprising considering its a game meant for consoles and that audience in mind, TW has been aiming for the console audience since 2.

Also take into account that, with an open world game you cant really have a good mix of everything. depth of game mechanics must be somewhat simplified or it becomes too complicated for its own good. the real meat of open world games is having an interesting world to explore or at the very least a good set of mini-games, substories and activities to do, they are never purely about the gameplay itself but rather the amount of content they give you while keeping the gameplay somewhat polished and easy to play.

So, it's supposed to be shit because it's more of a movie or a theme park than a game.
