Anyone else exploring old dungeons & not really bothering with the main quest?

Yeah, I've been saving a blast with this.
It's been years since I've played daggerfall, and I've been playing with the smaller dungeons tweak.
The one thing I'm truly waiting on is for someone to make an hd paper doll mod, how hasnt it happened yet?
bump
best mods?
There's only a handful at the moment give it a year or two to see the big ones come along
i was just trying to keep the thread from dying
>a year or two
Did something happen recently with this game?
What would cause there to be mods in the future as opposed to years ago?
it's been ported over to unity after being on the back-burner a number of years just like grimoire
Are the thieves guild & darkbrotherhood any good to join?
Wayrest, home.
How is it in Unity? Does it improve QOL or is it purely just for graphics?
So can you have a 100% purist experience with QoL that doesn't affect gameplay on this Unity build or not?
yes. i don't think there is any major qol that affects gameplay or make the game baby mode. things like clicking quest log locations to prompt fast travel or being able to loiter longer than 3 hours is pretty much the extent of it. nothing major.
its both
depends how purist you are, lots of bugs in the original game that could be used as exploits are fixed in the unity version. Also there is no option for the original hud with the buttons as far as i know. It is very configurable and moddable though.
closest to original visually is probably retro rendering with point filtering in the settings.
I wonder if someone will make a vampire edit for each race since the vanilla version was missing a ton like pic/related
are the vampire spells unique or are they just they just the same but given for free?
there are some different types of spells that you can get by region but nothing you couldn't make yourself, but vamps get massively low MP cost
turns out if you rest in an area your enemy's will respawn forever giving you a chance to get endless loot!
post horses
They need to make an executable mod tool that can run on its own instead of needing Unity. That's the only thing holding back Daggerfall modding.
Mods sometimes require Unity API to get things done (finding game objects in the scene, etc) so it can't be done without Unity
KoW - Dream is pretty damn impressive if you're looking for a fresh coat of paint to put on the game. I also recommend the mods in the recommended mods section with the exception of the loading screens mod. For whatever reason, it causes my game to stutter whenever something has to load in. It's not worth it. I would also add Improved Interior Lighting to that list.
>I would also add Improved Interior Lighting to that list.
To the list of mods that make your game stutter or to the list of the recommended mods?
what kind of toaster you playing on lad
That's what I was going to ask you
I've been playing for years and never touched the main quest
Daggerfall certainly doesn't have a problem with lack of loot or gold
Where the fuck do I get daedric weapons
what level are you
they start dropping and showing up in shops around level 10-12 or so I think
Guys does anyone have the instructions to download? I wanna play this but I'm a total fucking moron when it comes to downloading anything remotely complicated
So I download the base version of Daggerfall, then download Daggerfall Unity, then add the Unity file to the base game files like a mod? Jesus I'm sorry user, I'm fucking retarded
Google daggerfallsetup. Use that for vanilla install. It's designed to be easy. Then have the unity version in a separate folder, when you first run it, it'll ask you where you got original daggerfall installed.
click the daggerfallsetup link and install
then click the alpha 0.10.4 link for your operating system and unpack it anywhere
then run daggerfallunity.exe and point it to where you installed the base game and you're done
Thanks bros. Im gonna sink the night into playing this, this is much appreciated
You are indeed. But we're here to help, hopefully. So, do you get how WIndows path names work? When you install the base game and you are given the option to install it in a certain location put something simple that you will remember like
>c:\games\Daggerfall\DF
Then, when extracting Daggerfall Unity put it in
>c:\games\Daggerfall
So not actually the dir that the original game itself is in, but the one one step back from it. When you run it for the first time it will ask where you have the game installed and you can easily navigate to where you installed it in the first step.
I'm bad at explaining, but I hope you get the gist of it. It's really pretty simple.
