Starsector

Just started playing, where the fuck can I buy ships bigger than a destroyer? Or do I just have to find those.

Will this thread be deleted too? Which mod doesn't like videogames?

they are sold on markets, but you need to be lucky because they might not appear from the get go.

Some factions require you to have sufficient standing with them to buy destroyers and other fuck-huge cruisers. The black market doesn't require standing, and is way cheaper, but the ships might have D mods. Look into finding Military or Size 6 or higher worlds for the factions you're allied with, since they'll have a way better chance of selling cool shit.

what the fuck is this thing?

Attached: 1552936919598.png (1920x1080, 558K)

its a mod cruiser....maybe from nexerelin. I have tried to use it, but i can't really make it click.

a champion-class derelict cruiser

cruisers and up are more rare but are still available, but you'll have a better time finding them on black markets and especially military markets
i suggest getting commissioned by one of the factions (hegemony is pretty easy because their space is large enough you don't even realize you're hostile with anybody most of the time) so that you can improve your relation with them and eventually use their military markets

also, the pirate falcon is a fucking fantastic cruiser if you wanna still have destroyer burn speed, and you can find a ton of them on the black markets at pirate bases and elsewhere

Which ship is most into anal?

Paragon. it even has a gaping hole and all of that

Legion comes first to mind.

>start my second save after getting blasted on my first one
>start as some dumbass in a combat freighter with a drone tender salvage ship
Buy a lasher and a civilian transport just for crew capacity and start doing suicidal survey missions

Oh fuck oh god what the hell

one of the most kino ways to play is to play this shit like eve and hit deep space surveying planets and looting ruins while dodging ((((them))))

I didn't get a real answer last thread, I have the resources for colonization and a good planet, should I colonize now or are there other things I should do first?

good job, retard

Have huge stacks of cash

do whatever you want dude, it's a fucking sandbox. Do you want us to tell you when to go to potty as well?

I'm a total brainlet at manually fitting ships
Keep trying out different autofits and then get dunked on in a 1v1 sim

Attached: 1556188362665.png (172x158, 38K)

And your question is? Or are you just stating how shit you are?

I think i might be too much of a brainlet for the Doom cruiser, or any phase ship , how does one play a phase ship?

buy them from military stations

Just stating, I suppose. I did put together a pretty decent Silverfish but I suppose I need to shop around a bit more for different weapons on my shiny new Desdinova

Still sneaking around in that system. This place is a gold mine.

Attached: sector2.png (1148x669, 500K)

The autofit section has empty slots for you to save your current setup

This is why you always seperate saving and loading by several buttons. F5 for save F9 for load

Okay thank fuck all I could find was a mod to export them out

Attached: 1546291313164.jpg (395x428, 46K)

I did, but the room was dark and my function keys are separated into groups of four. I thought I was hitting f5 but I was one group too far over.

How do you make GIFs of this game?

You can also overwrite the stardard loadouts that appear there

gotta make room for smash threads

oh nasty. You gave me a new paranoia, my new load key is now F10

Keep doing it and paying attention to what the autofit puts where and how it performs.
Eventually figure out enough to not be shit at manual fitting anymore.

Alpha cores are your greatest allies.

1 mil and a decent fleet is needed, I'd not go for anything that's over 125 percent desu. Needs a decent industry.

>Military base counts as a different building and not an upgrade to patrol hq

Attached: 1557035915546.gif (260x216, 301K)

but that's wrong

Not him but I can understand wanting to know that. Was playing mount and blade after a long hiatus recently, was making shitloads of money as a merc, pledge allegiance to the faction now struggling for money since they don't pay me anymore and only have the one shitty village giving me cash.

Patrol HQ is a structure, but its upgrades convert it into an industry

Tell that to my game

Attached: why.png (893x751, 744K)

it's still the same building
sure it takes an industry slot because it produces marines

What ships should I look for to get?
I know phase ships can be modded to god teir lengths, but what should I focus on getting apart from them.

Attached: 1564513797584.png (218x227, 76K)

You playing vanilla? Condors, Drovers, Hammerheads, Sunders, Medusas, Dominators

What's the best way to outfit onslaughts?
One thing lead to another and the only people who don't hate me are independents and the Hegemony, and I need to start spamming battleships.

Whatever you like :)

literally whatever you enjoy playing. They all can be good minus combat freighters.

So, blueprints, sell or learn?

The whole thing is a crapshoot for them. People talking a lot about a game day in day out? It fits the "general" criteria. Piss off everyone in there now stuck looking at what is -already- an abortive mess on /vg/ Seriously mod go take a look when you cap this thread again. I get these are the rules, so do your job no qualms from me.
But what about daily TES-game threads? People enjoy those, and they're pretty much daily, but move that to /vg/ and it'll almost certainly die, and whatever manages to survive WILL be an abortive mess. So do you move that? Do you let it slide? It's video games, but its breaking the rules the same way. What do you do?

Maybe the rules are shit, maybe the Yea Forums /vg/ split has not in any way, shape, or form done achieved its stated purpose of "allowing space for video game discussion". Instead on one side you have AT BEST an unchanged Yea Forums that is as bad about talking about video games as it always, always always was, and on /vg/ you have this incestuous tribe unfettered by the self-controlling nature of a board with high post tempo and varied opinions.
What we have now is a generic if extremely mentally degenerate video games board on one side, and Yea Forums where you are bound by the rules to delete video game threads. I don't know what the answer to that is mod, but its not fucking this. It never was.
See you around buddy.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 20K)

put on some destoryers to escort her user, surely you would want her to be anal gangbanged?

I don't know but if you want the ID of the ship doing the remodeling its right here, if a ship it would wear tiger-print and get your shipfu hardcore addicted to drugs and working on a street corner.

Attached: fiat_panda_with_a_cloak.png (240x300, 15K)

Made some money for the first time and I'm not sure if I will be able to sustain my fleet after investing in it. I have 500k and my fleet is mostly a bunch of low tier freighters, so I'm wondering if an investment in 2-3 big ships would be smart or if I sticking to smaller ones is easier to handle in the beginning.

Let me know when smash threads get booted to /vg/ and I might be sympathetic.

>not wanting a nice ocean world with sexy beaches

Get bigger ships

tfw one of my colonies is a waterworld. It must be pretty comfy sometimes.

the same shit happens to Lobotomy Corp thread we have to hide them so mods dont nuke on site meanwhile CTR has 24/7 threads and there are 10 smash threads at any given timne

Fucking this.

Not wanting a planet worthy of being the capital of an imperium

Or terrifying, all things considered.

>deep sea all around
Sounds spooky to be honest.

What do I get rid of?

Attached: mods.png (460x907, 87K)

Don't upgrade too much too fast. Did that in my last run where I bought a couple cruisers. Found myself in an awkward spot where I was missing just enough firepower to take on the 200-300k bounties/bases but my fleet was big enough that supplies and fuel were slowly bankrupting me. Now, I've got a nice, little salvaging/exploration fleet and I'm sitting on 2 mil and it's only going up.

Is 1.4mil enough to get a colony running? My fleet isn't big but I have this XIV legion battlecarrier I found somewhere.

>wanting to live in a desert
t. space jihadi

I wonder if they have to just compartmentalise or going after threads like this is the jusification. Kill anything mainstream and 10 more threads pop up, it would take 50 mods to trim out smash entirely, you'd have no hope, but you can move something like this or lobotomy pretty easy. I would guess they see it as "well that must be 20-40 of the same people so they can just move!".
It doesn't work though, and it has never worked. The worst part? I'm pretty sure people who don't even remember pre-split would flip out if we relaxed the impossible-to-actually-enforce consistently rules.
I mean it, its a crapshoot. What the fuck could anyone do?

if it's outside of jangala just put it in the abandoned station til you can afford it.

SkilledUp. Nothing really, nice list.

Attached: 0.9.1a modlist.png (236x1000, 21K)

Not him, but teach me the ways of the condor. Is there something I'm missing? Everytime I've gotten one it ended up dying in the very next battle. They're extremely slow and didn't seem to really be doing much.

but LC and Starsector threads easily hit 500 replies in around a day but is a trend not a game series so it would just die on /vg/

How does this game compare to Stellaris?

not all of it can be deep

it's more like mount and blade than a grand strategy, you can dictate general tactics but have little actual control over your dudes beyond your personal spaceship

Found a mothership. Can I take it or am I about to get raped?

Attached: mothership.png (1017x583, 570K)

Totally different style of game.

Know how I know you're right but also not right?
It's got a general right now. Go look, scream a little and come back. Honestly, I encourage you to experience what happens.

I thought so, thanks. I will try to not overspend until I'm more familiar with the game in general.

what fighters it has is the only thing that matters. a single carrier on its own is garbage. you need multiple or as many as you can field at a time for that fighter/bomber spam.

I don't...know what is happening to that first automated defense. It worries me.

>multiple factions send expedition fleets 100 light years to attack your colony because you export too much food
any mods tone down the expeditions and raids so I can do something other than babysit my colony?

You are dead

Your question would be like comparing EU 4 to mount and blade.

welp it will die a slow death and become infested with Trannies and discord niggers like all other /vg/ that fucking sucks

They both take place in space, and you are basically the endgame crisis everyone unifies againt their petty disputes to stop.
Not the rogue sentient fleet of hyper-advanced ships piloted by superintelligent sentiences rendered incapble of feeling anything but contempt for our fleshy frames. Oh no, the nigger growing spacewheat three hundred lightmiles away is the one to get out the big guns for.

I need Dakka webms!
RIGHT NOW!

Attached: 1517597204621.jpg (427x432, 25K)

Does the game have end or do you play till you want to stop?

Vulkan java-less version when?

Attached: 1538248548480.gif (305x320, 890K)

It will probably die completely because it's not a big enough game. Unlike sc2 or something which got infested with normalfags kpopniggers.

It was actually the easiest ship to kill of all because its health was split up among modular points I could disable. I couldn't salvage it though so I'm really sad about that.

The latter

psssh nothin personnel kid

nexerelin mod makes factions war against each other so technically the end is when your faction is the last one standing

That's rad

Any tips for a newfag just starting out?

is the aurora class any good?
for 200k a pop it better be

Drone tenders.

This on the other hand looks like a problem

Attached: battleship.png (1008x554, 398K)

its ok to die dont be afraid to get completely wiped the fuck out. as long as youve got credits you can come back. if you dont have credits well just restart the game. your going to be restarting alot anyways if you get into this cause mods.
play on normal.
shift is your best friend for everything

tfw a star is right next to a black hole. Poor thing is FUCKED.

Early game, a few Condors with one or two PD focused destroyers as escorts (I use Enforcers) fuck things up really nicely. Just make sure that you use the good fighters and bombers. Broadswords spamming can be effective, these pricks overload frigates and destroyers easily enough.

Where do you get mods?

Its the dark souls of stellaris

buy hammerheads and give them safety overrides + lots of dakka

How long can you survive as a fleet of fighters for hire?

What weapon/fighter loadouts do you like on the Astral? Also what hull mods? I like what I have now but I feel like I might be wasting points.

by typing the magic words starsector mods into your search engine of preference and head to the modindex page. Drag and drop into the mods folder and activate them at the bottom in the game launcher

It will literally just orbit it. Black holes don't 'eat' stuff unless the stuff is really close and not moving fast relative to the black hole.

Good early game ships to look for?

I'm a scrub.

Attached: galo.jpg (1000x1000, 155K)

hammerhead

Hammerhead was the first early ship that clicked for me once it had the right loadout. Just try different things.

>find a Legion
>it's 4 dmods

Omae wa mo shinderu

Lashers blew me away when I first got them. They just rush in and blast down other frigates in an instant.

Are Shrikes work it?

mules
dont buy em but keep em if you can salvage ones that arent that fucked up from pirates. 1 mule on its own is shit 3-5 is a solid wall/good distraction why your real ships do the killing. the shielded cargo hold and general capacity helps .

I remember seeing someone say you can do something with duplicate blueprints in your colony if you have Nex installed but I don’t remember what it was.
Anyone have any idea?

You make webm instead retard

I hope at some point we can terraform worlds. They can do it as far as lore goes. I can see how that can get op though.

I've done that too, I feel you.

Attached: 1557473294447.jpg (839x610, 110K)

Domain could terraform. Modern powers can't.

>Girls Frontline
A man of TRUE culture, I see.

Attached: oWo.png (425x397, 148K)

They have solar mirror sand shit around some planets. They can, it's just not fast or cheap, I imagine.

You can take it to Prism Freeport for credits (talk to someone in comm directory) to exchange for other BPs. It should be in hyperspace if you don't have Scy, it should be in Acheron if you have Scy.

all those solar mirrors were put in place by the domain iirc, it's why there's that one planet that has some abandoned terraforming shit because the sector was abandoned shortly after construction began there.

what's the biggest dakka in the game? I just got a pirate modified atlas and I love the concept of just stripping everything and adding dakka

Attached: 1435523268780.png (600x411, 210K)

Can you ever get rid of demods? either over time or by paying someone?

You can at any port in the fleet menu.

Just restore the ship in Refit

good.....GOOD!

Attached: doomastral.png (1008x538, 316K)

Oy vey
Sell that Doom blueprint to pirates
Think of all the shekels

No real point in doing anything outside trying to keep it going here so it doesn't die in /vg/. It's obvious that certain topics here are promoted content that flood the board with zero checks and balances. If moderation were a real thing here the massive amount of bait, troll, porn and off topics threads would actually be addressed.

How do you get more deployment points?

options setting

That thing has the turning radius of a train, so you're safe as long as you're behind it.
Wish i could say that about the other kind of AI as well..

>drone tender
splatting Yea Forums into 3 boards was just dumb imo. The mods should of just nuked all the spamming samefags who don't actually discuss video games and not given them a place to erp with each other. Also I miss talk about older games and /vr/ is kinda dead.

Fuck [REDACTED] batlteships. Absolute aids to fight against.

On another note I've found exactly zero orange or red alert [REDACTED] systems so far and its annoying as fuck.

Does Nexerelin introduce new factions over time or is that in the base game?

Why are you trying to get him killed user

So what's the best mod for endgame stuff? I'm not really looking for new ships or shit like that, but stuff to actually do after you get powerful enough to hypothetically influence anything in the sector. Currently I'm getting the same vibes as X3:AP where absolutely nothing ever happens or changes and everything in the universe basically exists in permanent stasis regardless of market changes or supposed large-scale invasions. Basically I want to turn the game into Mount & Blade.

Schwigiity

I wonder who was behind this post.

Attached: hmmm.png (625x605, 62K)

Can someone explain to me why pirates have literally massive armadas on the scale of the Hegemony?

Legacy of arkgneisis. You got it from the guy in the bar right? Throw antimatter blasters all over it for maximum damage potential, it can handle it

That's from Arsenal Expansion

Because you haven't figured out how to use them yet.

Which missiles are you using? If you can aim, the torpedoes do massive fucking damage. I got a missile cruiser that just melted the shields of other ships with kinetic missiles. If you're using small missiles, they'll probably just get destroyed before doing too much.

...

Is it just me or do commissions do more harm than good in the late game?
>try to build up a rapport with other factions
>reputation drops by 50 every time my faction randomly declares war

I need high-end flagship blue prints and I have been through half of the sector searching research facilities.
other than robbing tri-tachyon(since they have been obliterated with no military base left), where else can I found them?

you can pay in refit but it costs more than what that ship would cost new. only do it for stuff you really like.

it also adds communists.

youve been selling blueprints and nanoforges on the blackmarket

not really since you would most likely end up hostile to every faction if you run solo.
the game is fucking retarded at faction relations.
>hey we have good relations but your fuel factory is making mad profiz and we cant allow that
>we are gonna send out a fleet to trash your starport hope you dont mind
>wth did you just destroyed our fleet?! relation -5!!1!!!1

Literally not a single one.
The only thing I've sold on the black market are heavy weapons and marines to the space jihadis.

Buy lodes of drugs where they're cheapest (usually that Tachyon station Echo Brass or whatever it's called in the middle), sell them to drug addicted pirate faggots that can't maintain their economy so they pay double.

yeah that is so annoying. Hey man your doing good let me not even ask you to share the profits or make a deal with us nope I'm just gonna try to blow it up and get pissy when you dont let me. I really like this game but It needs alot of work on fixing some of the bullshit.

>selling drugs to pirates
no, buy from kanta's den and sell to pathers in epiphany. pirates sell drugs on the cheap

Oh, I buttfucked Kanta's Den's trade caravan so they're hurting for everything. I just waltz into the system with a gallon of PCP and make 300% profit off their thieving asses.

Hell, I don't even turn off my transponder when I slap my dick down on their station, their pickets won't do shit.

Nexerelin will do what you want

theres plenty
miners are the ones that crave drugs not pirates.
now plenty of pirates are based on mining stations but not all of em.

Do you have the salvage skill? Are you checking black hole and neutron star systems for research stations?

no salvage skill, focused on combat and tech

Nope, the special ship in AE is an upgraded Brilliant-class. It does have similar phase mechanics, though

I've gotten 7 in my current sector. Always go for salvage skill

Alright lads, after watching daily threads for the past week I'm going to give this game another go. I want to stay off space freighting and actually do some fighting this time. Should I start on a small sector rather than a normal one so bounties don't end up at the edges of the map?

nex has that

Go for it, do the hammerhead start so you have a destroyer from the beginning.

Why? Are there only a finite amount of orbital habitats and research stations? Does anything respawn, I haven't noticed?

I'm not too far in, but it seems to get the job done. Just be careful and check it when you do, I blindly autofit a ship at a station that had no guns and my frigate ended up completely equipped with nothing but pd lasers.

is it viable to make my ship a battering ram?

what weapons do I want in my ships anyways? I havent bothered with seeing how weapons perform in battle yet I just let the AI beat the enemies up

Do I have a chance to win?

Not at all. You could just sell all of your forges and cores for easy money, but if you wanna put up with the trouble and play the long game, colonies are insanely profitable, especially considering you can just produce more ships and weapons, assuming you have the blueprints.

>10,700 credits a year
Seeing how a space faring frigate goes around 20k that's not that bad for a single person to earn in just a year. It's not like frigates are cars, they are capable of space flight and use antimatter fuel. I bet most well payed people on a planet get payed way less then that guy. He also has to endure crippling space journeys that will take literal months to cross the galaxy

How do I dismiss administrators when I haven't started a colony?

Attached: 1555322174632.png (600x632, 253K)

Mostly the same with me, I'm just so bad at manually flying because DUDE WEED. I try to have a balance where most of my ships will have at least one weapon for anti-shield and anti-armor.

This user's pic will help more with specifics though.

Same way you dismiss officers.

How do I do that? clicking the fleet menu?

click officers on the fleet menu

you could win with just the legion

May have finally gotten a good loadout for this thing.

Though, I'm open to changes.

Attached: Seems to work.jpg (766x618, 80K)

why expanded magazines

Fellow strategy brainlet here. You can enjoy it pretty well. I just did auto-fit for most of my ships and left stuff on auto-pilot and got by really well. There’s an easy setting as well that isn’t unsatisfyingly simple.

Got about 40 hours in already, and just finished a Nerelexin campaign

Your average crewmans salary is 10 credits a month. That nigga has to survive for over a year just to buy 1 unit of drugs. Think how many of your dudes die each fight .

... because for some reason I though it did something worthwhile, like increasing the burst size of the needlers.

I guess it's only effective for things like the AMBlaster with limited ammo then?

>find Terran world

I started a new character and I'm going to focus on exploration for a while and then maybe take up smuggling or some shit because Jesus fuck even when I fail miserably I love this game.

Also why the fuck is Nexerelim not already integrated? Why have factions if they're just gonna sit there not slaughtering each other and committing atrocities?

yeah things with ammo charges that recharge over time

It's a research station so presumably they were researching new blueprints using AI cores

>That nigga has to survive for over a year just to buy 1 unit of drugs
well "one" unit of drugs is enough to supply a lot of people
probably a container's worth

You mean clicking the portraits right? I can't seem to find any admins in there just officers

>its been so long people dont even remember earth anymore

I lied. D and then like q or something.

check your income in the colony screen, they should be listed as an expense you can click

They remember it. Old Earth is not well-documented but everyone knows the name of the world Humanity was born on, and that it was destroyed. But it was no longer politically relevant by the time that happened.

Why are you hiring administrators if you don't have any colonies?

So, think it would be better to have stabilized shield, accelerated shields, or put those five points into Cap/Vents?

Can you get Alpha Cores by killing Remnant fleets? I haven't been really lucky finding Alphas by exploring.

you can get them forced on you through events

probably vents just by looking at your max weapon flux build up vs your dissapation
but I'm not familiar with the ship you're using

You can find them randomly while salvaging out in the sector, if you find them like that they come with 2 skills unlike the usual 1 or 0 that you'd get from hiring them normally

>want to buy it
>don't trust their pay site that looks like it was made with GeoCities
Are they ever going to put this game on a 3rd party vendor?

>implying a unit of drugs isn’t a freight container full.

I can click them but that's it, no button to dismiss or anything

you can use paypal on that site

I got them from the pods and now they're a unnecessary drain on my income

Is it ok to sell LPCs to pirates?

where do I put the fucking nanoforges?

I want to play this game without having to deal with creating a colony, is it possible?

Heavy Industry in colonies

sure

Press D to go to command, go the the colonies tab, and there should be a selection for managing your administrators.

Fire their useless asses.

sure but it's more of a thing you do late game that generates infinite money for very little initial effort
Makes late game pretty comfy

I don't care about late game. I just want to fly around and kill bounties until I get bored.

Of course you can. You can be a pirate, a trader, a bounty hunter, an explorer, etc.

But if you want big-ass fleets and imperialism you gotta establish colonies to feed the war machine

>Assault Chaingun only good with safety override
Literally what?
They rip and tear through hulls once shields are down, they're my main station engaging guns too.

>tfw too retarded for this game

Attached: 1460687454509s.jpg (124x121, 3K)

LPCs are weapons. Single, discrete, non-duplicateable. You're good.

Finally, now I can have my income unraped

Could be worse, if you're too big brain for the game you can have a successful end game fleet and level 30 in like 2 hours.

Where did you find needlers?
I haven't seen one anywhere.

without the speedboost your ship will never get close enough to use them

so, hegemony scum have taken over an orbital station that is in a system previously dominated by my faction only (using nexelerin)

if i hang around the jump spots and harass their incoming and outgoing merchants how much of an impact will that have for them? can i make hegemony bleed money by doing that and weaken their faction overall? are other factions funds even simulated? attacking the station is not an option yet i keep getting my ass kicked hard

Is there a tanker larger than the Phaeton? I can't afford to maintain the Prometheus yet but I need more fuel

Enforcer Class.
They're honestly not great, but I have a weakpoint for dakka.

Just stumbled across them. I check the markets every time I pull in, and they're at the top of my "Always buy" list alongside Dual flaks and Vulcans.

Want to say they seem to pop up more in tri-tac stations, but I also feel like that's incorrect.

Really wish I knew how/when markets and bar's refresh their contents.

You can destabilize the colony like that,so yes, but i'm not sure if the faction as a whole will suffer.

Attached: Enforcer.jpg (1006x938, 144K)

unless you sold them the cobra blueprint
then all those collosus mkIII are spewing reapers

He said L(imited)PCs, not blueprints.

>tfw played the game enough where I make a pilgrimage every patch to level 30 then drop the game again
>tfw it takes less time every patch

Attached: 1 don't click.jpg (1100x1077, 255K)

And next major update, it's getting cut to lv15-20 max.

But safety overrides rape your range.
It's just too counter intuitive.

oh cool another feature I have to fix with mods

Attached: 1478137432600.jpg (640x480, 48K)

They're reworking the skills, but there is a possibility that yes.

Is it possible to fix those bad mods on ships, and where? (Compromised Hull, for example.)

Entire skill tree is being reworked you dummy

Restore option under refit.
Though it costs somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5x as much as just buying a new ship without d-mods.

in any station, go to fleet and click restore, it costs a little more than buying the ship brand new but often times it isn't terribly expensive

If I make a fleet full of ion beams and go around killing people with it, will I get to salvage a bunch of ships with no D-mods?

Enforcers ARE great.

KILLBOT ENGAGE

I just discovered that you can buy single piece of anything on buy screen by pressing left shift while clicking on any item on the store inventory. Discovered after 5 deaths. Wish it was on the tutorial.

Then share with me how to make them great, for I love them so.

What kind of super retard programs these things

I get PD is Point Defense. But what is KE or HE?

Kinetic Energy (Anti Shield)
High Explosive (Anti Armor)
There's another type as well, bad against shields and armor, but rapes hull.

kinetic and explosive
aka
shield breaker and armor breaker

Thats fragmentation, but its usually only used against fighters and missiles.

2 arbalest, 1 heavy mortar, 2 flak, 4 annihilators

extended missile racks and a bunch of other mods

what are the must get skills to get for my character?

Attached: Paragon.jpg (1293x1320, 332K)

Ah thank you both.

Explain your fleet doctrine, Yea Forums.

I like directing bomber squadrons and using long range artillery to bring down shields. My frontline is composed of 2 Legion Battlecarriers fitted with Hypervelocity Drivers, 3 bricked up Moras piloted by flux and armor officers and a bunch of Drovers. The strikecraft are a mix of Tridents, Daggers, Broadswords and the occasional Longbow. I find that it does well against factions with similar fleet size, but less effective against . [REDACTED] battleships since they can just jump away when their shields are about to overload. The fleet is microheavy and eats a lot of command points though, but ordering a massed bomber strike on an overloaded/unshielded target never gets old for me.

Attached: DiYvKFR.png (588x319, 285K)

I WANT TO MATING PRESS PARAGON-TAN

Condors harass with interceptors, Omens protect and disable ships and are generally being invincible little pricks, Hammerheads and Sunders kill the prey.

Cruisers and capitals are for losers. Until I replace my Condors with an Astral.

I love my Onslaught, purchasing it on the black market was my best decision.

just use whatever with autofit since i'm a brainlet

I've honestly just been massing carriers with mostly Wasps, and some torpedo bombers. Sometimes I'll have 2 Astrals in battle at the same time.
Then I throw in some meat-shield ships.

Yeah, freeing up the OP from my high-tech guns might make for ultimately better combat performance...

>0.8a
That's why. They got a 50% damage boost in 0.9.

Driver Enforcer is fine but it just acts as a turret rather than the frontline enforcer it's supposed to be, by no means is the build I postes supposed to act alone though. With the right armor oriented skills and hull mods it's a real tough nut to crack and very cost efficient as well.

DONG WHEN

Is there an updated version of the image then?

Do you like broadside ships?

>non-P Falcon

Attached: 15142.jpg (660x371, 51K)

No and there's a reason nobody makes them

Working on it.

I love the Odyssey but thats about it

Build a Commerce node and sell it to your own colony.

There's like some smaller ships and shit, they support me while MY FUCKING CONQUEST OBLITERATES EVERY SINGLE SHIP IN THEIR FLEET FUCK LEADERSHIP SKILLS COMBAT ALL THE WAY

AI Gryphon armed with Squalls for long range pressure.

Good idea y/n?

Is there a benefit to a Commerce industry besides the fact you, the player, can sell/buy stuff there?
Or is it mostly wasted space?

It gives you 1 stability

I don't really see the point unless your frontline is already cluttered with big ships. If that's not the case, just alpha strike everything with harpoons.

if you also have fuel production it's gives like 2000 fuel to buy

So, what do I do with this thing? I have the upgrades that give me less maint.
And what's a good ship that lets me move, shoot and dodge shoot em up style?

Attached: screenshot009.png (1366x768, 577K)

DOOM

So basically only have it on my 'main' world(the one I plan on using as my main storage space/where I unload my stuff) and my Fuel Production world. Got it.

Thank you user.

where do I get one?

>people apparently ignore combat skills entirely when one point in helmsmanship and evasive action gives you 50% acceleration and maneuvering
I dont know how they even live

Hyperion has almost no equals. Can solo entire fleets in it with proper fit. Good luck getting one though.

Tri-Tachyon sells them in their military stores, or you can try to find a blueprint/wreck. I've never seen one on the black market.

tri tachyon but you have to have 76 relation with them AND be commisioned so murding tru tach and hope it doesnt have awfull d mods

>domain ara ara
kek

I love the combat tree just because it allows me to armor tank
Seeing shit like hellbores and autopulse lasers just hit your ship to no effect never gets old
Projectile speed is really useful too

Salvage 3/3 gives me alpha cores and nanoforges out the ass

blueprints are rare, but obtainable. doom is one of those ships you shouldn't really "go" for, but if you get the opportunity you should take it.

also if you ever get the chance to salvage one, do it

Sometimes it's better to let the enemy come to you.

>oh hey, a convoy heading to the trycuck planet I just snuck away from

>Yeah, they're hostile with my hegebros

>...
>3. Disengage.

And once you have them what does it do?

there are 2 per sector, one is pristine, and they're usually in the same constellation, so nice you found both your xiv legions

btw those are the only 2 you can get

Shit, there's a domain era probe right next to a star, but I can't get too close. Can I do anything about this?

Any tips for choking a planet's supply lines? Even with a high burn-rate the supply ships often seem to escape me.

Worst people to owe money to beyond the pirates (who assume everyone who has a smaller fleet owes them money) or the pathers (who hate tech but clearly have a money counting machine in every fleet ops command centre)

*consumes your fuel*

they consume a metric fuckton of fuel, and there's almost never a reason to increase your burn level

>last month before my custom made ships are done

Because they're so thicc they get stuck in nascent gravity wells and it costs 599 credit fuel tanks to pull those fuckers out.

a single tug in a fleet of such size its justified I.E we're talking 4+ capitals. Anything less and its like having the fuel-chugger of a capital with none of the firepower

How many Salvage Gantries should I bring at all times?

look in the neighboring systems, the second xiv legion is usually in one of them

For interdiction? At least sixty.

>not having a high command and star fortress
>not sipping your space coffee comfortably while reading reports of your fleets destroying invasions on their own back home

There are a few utility/misc mods I just don't add because I don't care enough to install it. Pip should be a vanilla feature.

Anyone tried an all stealth/phase ship configuration for that sensor impression of 0-30? I keep meaning to but every new start throws me down a completely different direction. I want to know if its possible to have a "for all purposes invisible" fleet.

how do you keep getting this fat loot

I keep getting embarassed by my fucking AI squad. Fucking Mantas of all things pulling their weight.

So I'm in Heg space and I was delivering a shitload of weapons on a contract, but some nigger stopped me and tried to confiscate all my guns. I told that spook not to tread on me and dipped out.
Will this have some kind of real consequences later, or does it not matter? I lost like 3 rep or some shit but I gained it back after fulfilling my contracts.

Attached: 1522173261761-2.png (1800x1200, 683K)

I -think- disassemble/reassemble. It's a modified hammerhead so it goes slightly faster.

Attached: ffffff.jpg (1920x1080, 393K)

need a comm relay in system to see it from afar

Go to market
Click on manage colony
Click on any of the commodities on the right, it should bring up the global market.

No that's it, though I assume by dipped out you mean "retreated". Generally if you ask "am I being detained?" All they do is shoot you. If you can get away you'll just take the reputation hit.

does having more crew then the skeleton crew requirement actually do anything?

In my experience trying to actively manage your fleet by assigning specific commands makes them go dumb. The only proper level of engagement I've been able to get from them is by selecting the entire fleet and assigning to escort the flagship. This promptly becomes a murderball instead of your fleet flying off in every opposite direction or huddling at the edge of the map in fear when faced with slightly overwhelming odds.

Safety net in case half your crew gets spaced after a reaper hit

If you have a surplus of anything you need to do surveying/scavenging, it adds a limited bonus to your haul which is stated on the specific screen that comes up when you do it.
Beyond that not sure, I always float with a good 30% backup over skeleton minimum just because labour is cheap.

A) get lucky
B) go to systems with [REDACTED] in them or try and find areas full of domain era stuff

Yeah they tried to engage after I refused but I outran them. Good to know that it doesn't mean anything.
Is there any way to reduce my overall suspicion level? I have been dinged with rep drops a few times even though the searches turned up nothing illegal. One time I even got a rep loss out of nowhere despite not being searched at all.

l love the Manta but the spam of the shitty overclocked fighters ruins the mod imo

LASERS - GOOD
MISSILE AND PROJECTILES - BAD

SHIELD - GOOD
ARMOR AND HULL - BAD

Attached: brain prolapse.png (621x702, 56K)

Why

pilm long range missiles are absolute trash, they are extremely easy to avoid and a waste of ordinance points. They dont pack enough punch to even be noticed by shielded frigates and the chance of the missiles arriving at just the right time to hit hull is highly improbable. + the ai is too smart to fall for it.

you should just replace the 5 mounts with salamanders, that shit will fuck up the ai on every single ship withing 1000 clicks of you. Or 5 Atropos torpedoes to 1 shot enemy supper heavys, that are too slow to avoid it, once your fighters overload their shields.

There is 0 reason to run a carrier that big unless you are going right into the thick of it, 2 condors cost 1000000x less and have the same amount of slight decks. So you shoudl really ask yourself why youre running long range missiles.

Attached: 34258cf8-0a9f-4ade-8460-7c52692f28c7.png (1696x2400, 896K)

Just send the dominator, put some cruisers on guard duty and snipe shitters with my Conquest, Pirates of the Caribbean style.

I'm low on money and decided to do a nearby procurement mission for 200 fuel, I have a lot of fuel so I figured I'd do it, problem is that the guy I'm delivering it to won't take it and is saying I don't have it, anyone know what's wrong?

Well, do you have 200 fuel?

Are carriers good? Can't figure them. Sometimes they fuck everyone up, sometimes they get fucked in seconds.

yes

It's just more complex Space, Pirates and Zombies.

Yes they are the most powerful ships in the game

unlike real life, pure carrier fleets aren't great due to how close range battles are and shields providing protection. You want a solid wall of line ships to engage and tie down the enemy for the bombers

False

use them to keep the enemies busy while you get close and use torpedoes and the mjolnir cannon.

So let's say I'm in a friendly system and I decide I want to start robbing smugglers for fun and profit. Will anyone powerful object to this, or will it make all smugglers hostile in the future?

Attached: fernando-correa-st2043.jpg (1920x1920, 503K)

it will make the independents angry for starters and you might destabilize the markets in the system and probably in other systems as well.

"independents" will get mad, you cant attack unless they are flying their pirate colours.

Smugglerd are in the independent faction

Am I autistic for refusing to use any mods?

same here

independents are great targets for banditry. the big guys don't give a shit if you murder smugglers, but if you do it too much independents will become hostile to you and you may run into mercenary detachments at some point and come to regret what you've done. i never did, though, and it's pretty easy to get your rep back up with them later on when you're tough enough to do system bounty stuff. that, in my opinion, is the fastest way to make a shitload of rep and money. 1500~ per frigate really racks up when you're taking down fleet after fleet of rats, and you get about 3 rep per fleet doing that too, so even if independents absolutely hate you, that'll sort your rep out quick.

also, taking down smugglers and even independent trade convoys will seriously fuck up the economy of the system you're in, which is great for you. you can blockade a system, hanging out in hyperspace and ambushing any independent trade at all, then you can sell all the loot at a huge profit to the systems that you've deprived.

Nah, at this point there isn't anything wrong sticking to vanilla. I think I had Starsector for a couple years before considering mods. First time using it was during 0.7

Attached: 2019.08.13.21.52.45.03.jpg (1457x1007, 275K)

It's okay, user. Get rekt and learn how the pros do it afterwards.

it has great burst damage for decent flux but when it needs to recharge it does shit damage. Works best with extended mags and ships with enough speed to get in, unload, and pull out then repeat.

Do you need a mod for this? Or just get incredibly lucky?

Thinking about colonizing soon, is this a good system? The hazard ratings on a couple of these planets scares me, but the other modifiers seem so good. So much abundant ore, volatiles, even 2 ruins. All in the same system.

dont know if this is real though.

>"suicide" link is a perma 24/7 rickroll livestream

I did not expect that in 2019

It's has been posted it everywhere for at least a few days. Ignore it.

Just had a mother of all battles in Yama. TWO pirate armadas vs the station and their defenders. niggers had like 6-8 Atlas, so I had to retreat the flagship because it had like 1k hp.

It's pasta you fools
It pops up randomly on Yea Forums as well

I tend to let bigger ships do support and make a bunch of small, fast heavy-hitters. My flagship is a Wolf with a Heavy Blaster on the nose and an Antimatter Cannon for when the shields go down, plus a pair of Reaper torpedoes for whatever opportunities come up. A few light carriers, a destroyer or two, a cruiser, but mostly angry frigates with lots of firepower

That's all one system? Colonize the fuck out of it. Farm on the Terran. Get mines on the volcanic worlds, start sucking up volatiles out of the gas giant, and you've got everything you need to support heavy industry, which means SHIPS.

>enemy fires torpedo at me

Attached: cat.png (132x126, 11K)

Is this actually possible? My current """testing"""" of a heavy artillery fleet kitted out with the macorss-pattern bullshit spray would pretty much obliterate itself if my own missles hit my fleet.

yeah, missiles can hit friendly ships once you see the "burn" from their backside disappear and they just start free floating. Eventually they just disappear if they hit nothing.

Interesting.

Keep in mind unguided missiles always hit friendlies.

It depends
Dumb fired missiles like reapers and annihilators always hit whatever ship is in front of it
Guided missiles like harpoons pass right through friendly ships until they burn out

>Colonizing then abandoning decivilized planet removes decivlized mod from it

How do I find good ship?

I know the AI ships are in the next update, but is there a mod that adds them now without any extra shit? Also, has anyone experimented with increasing the sector size beyond "normal"? From what I understand a lot of things are hardcoded for the regular size (i.e. the number of constellations), is it still playable?

don't forget to sell blueprints at the black market to dodge taxes

Which one? Most are still available on the forums.

Look at your nearest man-made asteroid field and scavenge. Now what you want to do is look for how high-rank a ship is when it offers to recover a ship, that's top right, the more orange bars the better. That's a D-mod, otherwise known as a Dayum son you got that ship for free too? What a bargain. The more the better. Try and fly a fleet with as many of those orange bars as you can and soon you'll be the envy of even the most luxurious pirate buccaneer swanking by.

AI ships?

How do I maximize salvageable ships from my own battles?

if you got the ordnance points for it you can also put athropos torps on thoe two turret slots in the back, their guidance system is good enough to be able to hit something infront of you despite the turrets pointing to the back/side.

Yeah well nincel threads need to move away to /vg/
It's fucking annoying to see trash """leak""" threads instead of actual games like this

OH SHI-

Colonize another planet in the same system and get another patrol HQ

industry skills

Not sure if salvage rating affects it
Also, make sure you comb through the debris field

Starting this for the first time.

What am I in for? I only briefly played new vegas and thought 4 was good but crafting and story were uninspired garbage. I'm told 3 is a lot better if I can get past the datedness

What mods should I install (aside from the regular bethesda unofficial patches, texture packs, etc)

>take my humble explorer fleet out to do some derelict hunting
>enter random system
>stumble upon some kind of scavenger civil war
>massive scavenger fleets smacking against each other while I try to skirt around them to get to the derelicts
>some of them start following my fleet but don't engage
>others zip around erratically, flying right by my fleet and attacking the one that was tailing me
>mfw pure chaos all around me as I try to salvage in peace, praying they don't turn their guns on me

Uninstall

>Illegal to sell
Even in the grim darkness of the 200c cycle, there is DRM.

Steal their derelicts.

That's such a cheesy way of getting ships I hope they fix it. Kind of makes salvage only runs feel moot.

>not helping your fellow salvagers out against the pirates

poor form, user

And the 50 smash and pokemon threads are fine? How can you explain this?

wrong thread buddy, fallout is 2 doors down, also if I remember noone is the good guy/"right" in 3 so becareful who you help

>Transponderless fleet perilously close to my comfort zone of engagement in a distant system.
>starts flying to maintain radar contact.
Oh lord I hear em circling. Lord Ludd please spare me the cries of my drone tendies and take me first!

The waifus besides the girls' frontline pack, I must complete my yuri harem.

>see salvagers getting close to a pirate patrol
>"I'll help them out"
>salvagers team up with the pirates

>Pirate breaks off before I make contact
>Scavenger bubble turns red and attacks me.

>Tri-kikeon fleet is coming to raid my colony because I;m making too much ore
>I'm not there to stop them, but my colony defenses rek them without a sweat
>I lose 5 rep with Tri-Lackeon despite them not only coming to attack me first but the literal quest message said I wouldn't lost rep if I only attacked the fleet coming to raid me
The fuck? Do I have to commit genocide now because these space Israelis losing their cosmic silicon valley to my production won't leave me alone and keep blaming me for stopping them?

Yeah, this is kinda bullshit.

>go to system to see if there is any thing neat in it
>300K bounty appears in a day before I warp in
I'm glad I'm too lazy to drop off my battleships when doing salvage.

Attached: epic.jpg (900x260, 37K)

The pirate was probably a scavenger.
>Get attacked by scabs
>beat them back and they retreat
>try to reengage to finish them
>suddenly they're independent and I would get relationship penalty
Fuck you dev's

The only other anime one I use is Degenerate Portrait Pack from the forums with all the add-ons, it still works with 0.9 since it just adds portraits after all. If anime doesn't matter then Another Portrait Pack and Portrait Pack are still available too. Messy was made by some user sometime back and is a variety of things for someone like me that doesn't care about consistency.

There's a back up of those mods on vg and mega.nz/#F!saoRzApR!OYv8n07HKsSttBOa9p0_Bw

>made colonies at edge of sector
>-29% accessibility for isolation from other colonies
>can't import anything at all

Am I fucked? The highest I've seen it go so far is 3-5% when my commissioner, the hegemony, happened to more or less be at peace with everyone. Is there an easy way to raise this shit? Working on getting the leadership skill for +15 accessibility now, but not sure if it'll be enough.

>Hegemony AI inspections every 2 months
I think they're onto me

Attached: screenshot040.png (1768x992, 335K)

Does it matter if you have good relations with Indies? They take AI cores for relationship points so they can be reasoned with. I know Pirates don't cause much of a mess if you have good relations with them, and pirate activity does fuck all to colony trade if you have it so.

Ludds can eat a all natural dick tho

The best solution is to be rich enough that you can just throw money at the problem instead of wasting your resources to kill them. It's more like a tax than a bribe, really.

>Have 3 planets in the same system
>All 3 of them have military bases
Come try me Heg-cucks, I'll put you in the fucking ground

Attached: 1565526675122.jpg (640x628, 103K)

How do you get a station colony?
All I know how to do are planets.

>install new factions
>get neg faction points because they never post reasonable quests/bounties
>cant get the ships I actually want from them

I LOVE LEGION-CHAN!

Attached: Legion_xiv.png (300x308, 158K)

Only way I know is to capture one

>Colony finally profitable
>Pirates raid every 18 days without exception
>9 full capital pirate fleets every raid
>Can't even intercept half of them before the new ones show up

What the hell is up with this pirate spawn

The pirates probably have a star fortress somewhere

The best way to deal with pirates is to play whack-a-mole with their stations

I doubt I could handle a station on top of their sixty to eighty capitals plus whatever home-defense fleets they have set up

Was kinda hoping the patrol buildings plus star fortress plus continued fleet destruction would deter them at least a little, but it's only getting worse

Mommy Legion best girl

Someone redpill me on Alpha AIs

Is there /any/ downside to having them manage your shit? Every colony I put an AI in charge of starts printing money within weeks

why is there an anime on that beautiful raven
why have you sullied it so

Luddites get mad
Heg-cucks get mad
Hoes get mad

Hegemony AI searches,
but otherwise I haven't found any

Outside of the Heg and Pathers getting salty and sending AI inspections and sleeper cells the only problem you'll have with Alpha cores is if you ever decide to remove one.

Listen up master chief, you outta know how dangerous AI can be.
Just try to pull her out, I dare you.

So if hypothetically hedgecucks were down to, I dunno, one size 4 station in the entire sector that's right next to my homeworld, I'd only have to genocide luddite fucking shits to get off scott free?

why would you pull out?

Having a sucessful colony pisses everyone off eventually anyways. Might as well speed it up.

If you don't care about good rep you can just pull the cores before the inspectors get there, take your -20 and slot them right back in

Not if you don't use open port and don't use AI cores. You just sit in your corner printing money and resources, then get to pick what you want to do with them.

Lmao I don't have to
I wasn't being hypothetical, that's literally the situation in my game right now.

I don't remember who they pissed off, but eventually the Hedgehogs got pushed back to one station in my starting system and they never recovered. they can't inspect shit

Can you bribe the inspector?

Vanilla game or mods?
Because I'm doing my first run vanilla and it's taking quite some time for displacement to happen. The first to go was Skati station for the Kikeon^3

Tbf, the sleeper cells give like 2 negative stability which gets outweighed by what you get from having AI admin in the first place. So you don't have to bother with that either

Attached: 1564496914622.jpg (372x248, 68K)

Yeah, costs I think 100k per level of colony starting with 3

>-1 ore
>-1 volatiles
>-1 transplutonic
>-1 food
>+1 organics
>shitty ruins
>class V survey data
real fucking funny, game
fuck you too

Attached: 14316432050530.png (426x444, 184K)

Yea but it's pretty expensive. I don't think the bonus money you get from having AI cores makes up for the ludicrously high bribes you need to pay to not have to go to war because you have them.

Yeah my game is modded to fuck
I even have approlight in even though it's all ??????

If it exists, it means you can get it. Better than thing not existing at all at least.

You could DM the guy in the forums for his Google Translated "cheesegrater" version. He seems friendly enough. Though remind him to give you the updated strings.json because he fucked up for some anons it seems and they didn't really give him a big report for it.

Attached: 1564355087682.jpg (531x531, 20K)

Haven't played in about 2 years, is there now a functional economy system? Only fun way to play back then was to start with the ships you wanted and only do combat

I didn't realize that was an option, but I honestly don't even feel like making an account for that

Besides I used to play the shit out of AL so I've got like 95% of the weapons sprites memorized for what they do

How balanced is Approlight?

>It's obvious that certain topics here are promoted content that flood the board with zero checks and balances.

Holy fuck you are right, now that I think about it there is nonstop WoW classic threads going on with shit like: what will you roll, why did you lose interest, are you hyped etc

It's not

I'm sure it's been nerfed a little since this, but you used to be able to steamroll Knights Templar with AL. Suffice to say that you could just raid Remnant systems with this faction and not worry about anything.

Give me the quick rundown on D mods boys

>how many are too many
>which ones are acceptable
>which ones instantly ruin a ship

>Console command and check out their capital class
>KAGE BUNSHIN NO JUTSU!!!
>CHODORI!!!
yeah, balance is not why you would play with this faction in the game, not at all... and I love it

Attached: 1564237342410.gif (498x278, 1.13M)

Isn't that a boss and not something you can play?

I just avoid the ones with increased maintenance.

I kinda want to know how many files you have to translate to get it to work.

>balance
It's fun to fight and has big lasers. Don't you want your high tech Onslaught trophy? It'll go well with all the other mod Onslaughts.

Attached: al_ds.webm (1400x798, 2.91M)

Depends on if you've got the reduced maintenance and/or reduced D-mod impact skills, the type of ship and what you're gonna use it for
There's not really an easy answer

Huh, haven't faced it in the actual game yet so probably, it also had a pre-installed mod that apparently put it's drive field to 0, so God knows how that shit works.

Degraded engines are a bitch, always scrap or restore these if the ship is rare/subcap/capital.
what he says

Almost everything else can be dealt with considering d-mods let you pay less and deploy more ships. Use your brain though - there's no need for a domi with compromised armor and reduced range, but degraded engines are the only hard pass.

At least it's a boss in one of the missions. I can't see it in the simulations either

1
None
All of them

Is there a modded ship created for soloing the game? I think it'd be really fun.

Yeah, I believe it's to prevent you from properly using the boss ships, IIRC it used to randomly kill a % of your crew instead so you'll never be able to use them.

Given what I saw it do, I don't really know what composition CAN kill it. let's just hope there's a way to cheese it explained in the dialogue

Wait, restore?
Oh god, you can fix D-Mods?

You can do it but it's almost double the base price of the hull.

Damn, no wonder damaged ships sell for almost nothing

Experiment and find out what fits your choice.
Paragon seems to universally be seen as the best capital ship, though it's boring as fuck IMO
Honestly, the game needs way more ships with different gimmicks for my taste (I don't want overdesigned, brightly-colored, overpowered mod shit)

how?

I don't see any of those included in the latest version of ApproLight. At least when I add all hulls through console command

I need more pictures of capital ships being anthropomorphised into curvy mommies

In the refit screen hit the restore button

A lot of mods are pretty vanilla friendly and are worth adding while waiting for more designs from the devs. The Ship/Weapon Pack almost looks like it belongs in the base game. There are some fairly balanced factions to play with too like TSC.

They're from an outdated version of the mod
