>Developer Comment: The goal of these changes is to make Brigitte more of a primary healer for your team, at the cost of weakening her survivability. Since Brigitte will now be only one of two support heroes for your team, it is important that she can provide enough healing to be valuable in that role.
Creativity in Overwatch is officially dead. Now, every "Support" hero, every "Damage" hero is going to be a cookie-cutter copy of eachother, so any Support hero can be replaced by another Support hero. Say goodbye to unique heroes that can do a new thing that no other hero can do well, or even heroes that can do many different things sort of well. Instead of Blizzard having to balance many different heroes, now they just have to balance three "archetypes".
>any Support hero can be replaced by another Support hero How so? And don't answer "they can all heal well". Lucio's speed boost is still unique. Zen has a defensive ultimate that an Ana can't replace.

>actually literally unironically non-figuratively playing Overwatch or any other live service "esports" game in the current year of our Lord >complaining when it is heavily regulated, censored, corporatized, or otherwise soiled You have no one to blame but yourself
>Barrier Shield >Barrier health reduced from 500 to 200 They basically turned Brigitte into a full time healer, like they said they would. The shield might as well be a cosmetic at this point, it's barely worth anything. The thing is, Brigitte as a healer is really boring, you're basically just tossing health packs at your allies. At least her old concept as a crowd control hero with some support was somewhat unique.

>ended 4100 last season >placed 4372 on tank

Overwatch hero creativity died the moment they gave up on non-healing supports when they changed Symmetra. I wish support would've meant "utility" in this game.
Oliver Torres
>lock in a tank >next 4 people all lock dps >last person locks a redundant tank role and no one swaps to heal
every. fucking. time.
Christian Anderson
>tfw the game is even more "Who has the better DPS" focused
Like isn't overwatch asymmetric? Does the attacking team get attacker heroes and the defending team get defenders? Or are DPS both?
Ian Cruz
So this. Old Symmetra used to be something unique and one of my favorite heroes to play. New Symmetra is just a generic DPS with a beam.
Camden Campbell
There was never such an asymmetry. Offensive and Defensive heroes were once separate categories. Snipers belonged to the defensive hero category, as did the turret building Torbjörn or Mei who could put up ice walls temporarily. Those categories had only been labels for the longest time, something that was supposed to help newbies pick an appropriate hero according to Blizzard. Defensive and Offensive heroes were merged in the hero select screen not so long ago. Now they're all "Damage" heroes. Former support hero Symmetry got reworked and moved to "Damage", too.

>Creativity in Overwatch is officially dead. 2/2/2 lock forces more creative solutions for your role. Played torb into a Overwatch League genji today to counter. Molten core completely shuts down nano blade. Yesterday I would have just swapped to Brigitte and ran 3 support. This type of thing applies in several situations. Picking the most direct counter regardless of team comp is less creative than counterpicking in 2/2/2.

What if my team want to try something crazy like 3 DPS and 3 healers?
Landon Miller
it died when the took out duplicates
Zachary Ross
Arcade exists.
Lincoln Powell
The game was always casual ability+shitter roulette garbage. It's even more comical now with a sigma in every game assuring that there will be a permanent 3 layers of shields in every engagement.
Nolan Parker
>here are your healers bro >also here are your opponents' healers bro >also you can't switch to someone who could compensate bro
Then you can no longer do it. Blizzard is too lazy to balance around all the different hero compositions that are possible now, so they are forcing you to have two tank, two damage, and two support in EVERY team.
Easton Martin
The problem here is?

This is what happens when you listen to consistent whining from the community and change it to their demands.
This is what happened with WoW, this is what happened with Starcraft, this is what's happening with Overwatch (and been happening for a while) True "balance" can only be reached if everyone is the same, or as similar to eachother as possible. You cannot balance fun characters and gameplay, people will always find a way to complain. It's sad but unfortunately true.
I've played for 9 seasons and I'm silver league I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong but I don't care enough to send in a vod to some pro to tell me what's up. I imagine I wouldn't be able to pull off 6-man hammers in plat anyway.

dota is doing ok at least
Andrew Wilson
And Brig still has her stun, flail and shield, which makes her a good anti-flanker support.
Christian Turner
Most of Brig's healing comes from her passive, which is her flailing her mace around and agressively attacking people
Colton Rogers
>everyone in the OW community has been praising the 2-2-2 role queue as the second coming of Jesus >people having more fun playing the game now that shitter are forced to pick good, effective heroes instead of going 4 DPS and ruining the match Yeah, sure bud. Your TORtanic tier opinions don't hold any value.
Ethan Turner
>not playing better, free Overwatch They just added a new support character, rebalanced a bunch of shit and will announce a new patch tomorrow. If like the genre, might as well jump in now.
Where did I say anything about "TORtanic" and the game failing? Did those other games I've mentioned died? Absolutely not. Did they get ridiculously stale due to them constantly trying to force balance and lost all of their initial charm? Absolutely.
