Since nobody else is mentioning it, optimisation seems pretty fucking awful to me. Needing a good GPU is a given, especially the volumetric clouds ask a lot. I have a 2080 Super though so it manages max on 1440p 60 FPS, but it fucking destroys CPUs. I hadn't upgraded my OC'd 4770K since there was no need but this one game can bottleneck it enough for drops below 60. Not a huge surprise I guess because even Ubisoft's official system requirements mention 30 FPS targets for both minimum and recommended.

So I've played this for like ten something hours and the combat as spongy and brainless as shit, and having assassinations not kill people unless your arbitrary stat is you enough is ass. I'm basically only considering continuing at this point if the story is actually worth it and/or the environments actually get more varied. Knowing Ubisoft though it's just a giant copy pasted map.

this is a game about platforming to get collectibles and looking at beautiful scenery
combat (and the grinding required to level up and make it easier and faster) is an obstacle to make the game last longer. if you are not enjoying climbing greek temples, you won't find anything else worth your time
if you'd rather do something else other than collecting stuff, I'd suggest playing Black Flag or Rogue which have good scenery too and you spend a lot more time pirating (and upgrading your ship) than fighting

I own both and the game looks like potato on the pro. If you own a 1070 or better there is no question you should be playing on the PC at 1440P with everything maxed. It's a beautiful game. Also play it with Japanese dub voices. That way you can avoid the cringeworthy english voice overs with obnoxious hambone greek accents.

Headshot everything. You can still have fun with melee but if you make a point of delivering a fatal blow with headshots (especially against mercenaries) you consistently get xp boosts. Personally I made a point to try to clear the map and never found difficulty due to scaling an issue. I had less than half the map done by the time I hit 50 and at that point I could kill anything with a single headshot.
