Vivi is cute as fuck without ever being annoying, is an important character plot wise, and mechanically a good party member. He had the most engaging plotline in the game and it was pretty sad. Probably the most kino thing FF has ever done. I actually wish that japan didn't lose this sense of characters that are naturally cute without specifically 'cute' being their 'thing' so it becomes obnoxious and neuters them from actually being interesting or engaging.

It's missable, you can only get it during the card tournament section at the beginning of Disc 3. Have Vivi visit home after the Active Time Event and leave Treno to visit Quan's Place. Vivi will have a flashback and rejoin your party early.

In Disk 3 you get to see all this via flashbacks if you examine the broken clock in Vivi's old home. I think the implication is he went a little crazy because by the end he said he could taste and "eat" food just by imagining it, which might be his starvation getting to him.

If Square Enix ever considered doing an FF9 remake, one think I would absolutely love if an expansion of Quina's character and more integration into the plot, and let them grow in motives over the course of the story.

As a kid, once I realized they were two separate items I just assumed Bowser was the only one who could wear it since all his other armors are shells.
Mario was the only one to use shells as a weapon and I figured that was just the way it was, so I guess I never really got a chance to see it show up for other characters.
It turned Bowser into the embodiment of a turtle too, so it just fit too perfectly for me to question it.
