If you're a legit player you can just copy the EDF file, apply crack and steamworks to make a pirate copy. Steamworks is compatible with legit saves, so you'll be able to use and update your save, keeping any loot from the pirate session. It's actually seamless (aside from having Spacewar playtime on your account).

That's not true, steamworks is not a crack, you still need certain codex files, but you do need to apply steamworks fix to overwrite some of the codex files

those are cracks to get around steam's drm
steamworks uses one of steam's api's to connect with p2p without having an official copy

Well, a pirate copy does produce a save that transfers to a legit steam copy, as long as you apply the steamworks fix. You can play online or offline, as long as the steamworks fix is on, and it should transfer to your bought copy. I started with a pirate copy and transferred over and it worked perfectly.

They're actually really good as WD, they'll cover you during emg charges, or at least tank damage for you. Always take a NPC WD squad as WD.

i found double vulcan hammers fun since you get a 90% defence boost while swinging, you can sit and tank a horde while the air raider blows everything up, the only downside being you get bounced around like a pinball

Ranger is the only class the game was designed for. You can tell from the ground up each stage is setup with ranger in mind. The other three classes are easy mode when comparing to ranger.

the roller can be used as a ground dash that also protects from damage. you fire it to launch yourself through a pack of bugs, then at the very end of the boost you can cancel into a dash-jump. it is also possible to revive teammates while rolling over them.
the vulcan hammer is just a portable short-range explosion. throw yourself at a boss monster or a big pack and fire it
the point of the hammers and haken is to kite the ground enemies into a big line and whack 'em with the shockwave which can stun insects and also remove limbs from aliens and frogs, but at low level they really don't do much damage and the charge up and swing is long and requires forethought. the hammer makes a line shockwave and the haken makes a fan shape. the blade is fun to use but the other strikers do more damage. its primary benefit is that it can hit aerial enemies, but then so can a gun. all of them get significantly more useful with upgrades.

They got introduced in this one for the first time. They replace the hectors and legged tanks of the previous games.

force blades/force axe lets you fuck up groups with penetrating swings from a much greater distance than pierces. it just sacrifices raw power for range and quantity (you're supposed to use two at once as mentioned in the descriptions)

Hectors are more amusing or funny but the ayylmaos are actually fun to fight

The only superior aspect of Hectors is the dance they perform after being hit

The Ayys AI is rather sophisticated even when compared to other games. Most games don't have their AIs take cover behind buildings and such or dynamically switch targets.

what was your strategy?

start with a tempest ATS aimed at the erginus, hit it with 105 rapid cannon Z, drop a power post ZM for the npcs, hit it with another rapid cannon, hit it with the tempest, hope it actually fucking hits and dies. If it does, summon an EZ nix, hope I can get in the fucker before I die or erginus steals it and then kills me, slap a power post on its leg and go to town, summoning a new one as they're available.

Ontop of that, start running towards them straight away, where you start is actually a terrible place to stand because all the other erginus that zerg it after barga dies.

I remember the EMCs going tons of damage to the kaijus and even downing one without my help too. But then again that was on hardest so I dunno if it'll work on inferno.

the npc allies can and probably will take care of a couple, but put bluntly (to me, it seemed) you'll be doing most of the heavy lifting. Main reason I go with a power post over a second cooldown gunship is that your mech has a fuckload more hp than you do, and the EZ does an obscene amount of damage as it is, it's just slow and has low-ish ammo.

It is the strongest weapon in the game.

vulcan hammer is one of the best side thruster weapons against everything but bees. insane damage and hyper armor allow you to jump into a horde of enemies to nuke the everloving fuck out of them. at the same time the hyper armor can be used defensively to bridge the cooldown duration of the boost jump.
only enemy it's kinda fucky against are ayys for god knows what reason but that's where you can utilize your secondary weapon, which should always be a dispersal mortar.
aside from that vibro roller is the best crowd clearer and very late force blades can be alright for crowds

They should bring back the mirror drones from EDF2. And the centipedes while they're at it.

the best way to negate hyper armor bouncing is to start swinging during a dashjump.
also fun fact: if you reload mid charge, the charge does not drop but in fact continues on normally, meaning that you should always reload before emptying the magazine

They can't jump, though. So you can sit up on a rooftop and snipe them. You just have to be careful to not kill them too close or they'll blowup your building.

Taking them out instead of bothering to make them prettier is something I would agree on from a gameplay point too. I'm sure no AR likes those areas and it seems the devs understand that shit enough to have very minimal shield bearers this time as well as 0 missions with story related reasons why the AR can not call for anything nor did we get any sort of Earth Eater replacement.
They were also kind enough to make bulge go through the mothership instead of it blocking your shot for attacking things below.

Thank god. I hated the eartheaters. Annoying as fuck to fight, and they blocked basically everything from Air Raider. Couldnt call in missiles, couldnt have vehicles airdropped in some missions. I think even some missions couldnt have gunships as well.

It's very wrong to assume that considering the amount of people I see fuck around with the mentality of disregarding if a map has teleportation ships and do fuck all with their equipment to help kill them and rather focus on killing the spawns, even fucking worse is when the WDs are doing this.

and if AR were to get any weapon to pass through the shields it should be the roombas / beetles, give those weapons an actual non meme use.

Not to me, but if everyone was like me there wouldn't be people that main every class. My second favorite class is Wing Diver. Takes a lot of getting used to her weapons though as she deals shit loads of damage from up close but only mediocre damage from range unless you take something that drains your entire energy bar.

I use air raider as my "fuck it i wanna win" character, but i enjoy fencer a lot

I like WD but dealing with swarms is just a huge chore with her, and you can't always count on your team to be worth a shit in hardest and inferno.

She's really fun when you have a reliable team and you can focus on her strengths though.

She has some tools for it, but you usually just wind up zapping bugs for a minute or so straight. I kind of enjoy that though, simple point and click gameplay, and you kill them fast enough for it to feel satisfying.

Doing my first playthrough on hard with ranger. What's the best strat for beating 68 crashing giant pylons solo? The best I can figure is keep the squad alive, but I can never get them all the way to the last pylon, there is just so much bullshit with 6 different enemies coming out of it. I learned from the first 2 to stop and fight in waves as each one hits you, but during the last one I only make it halfway before everyone else is dead and it snowbalks out of control.
Using monsoon, it rips thoug everything in one hit and even that is not enough.

That's only a lvl 10 weapon.

Yeah, I mean she kind of can if they're conveniently clumped up but all of her powerful AoE weapons are huge energy hogs so usually you just end up killing only a portion and then have to find a place to recharge. Or, like you said, you just fly around for awhile sniping one at a time with a lance.

Like I said, to me she's the most fun when someone else can deal with that nonsense while you do WD shit. Like killing ships, frogs, ayys etc.

That's acid gun. Idk if it's good or not, never used it.

Super Acid Gun. Actually a really strong weapon and can carry Ranger through hardest, but unfortunately it maxes out at lvl 50 something so not as good in inferno.

It was better in 4.1, like A LOT better. It had penetration and high damage, but shotguns do that now without the wonky aiming.

Only somewhat agree. In 4.1 it was the highest dps weapon in the game but its range was shit.

It still has good dps in 5 but its range got a huge buff as well. I think it maxes out around 250m and it actually shoots pretty straight at max lvl instead of a goofy arc.

You can host online from any mission that you've completed online, even if it's in someone else's lobby.

One WD is generally enough. So either two Air Raiders one Fencer, or vice versa. Kind of hard to say for certain really. A good AR is worth its weight in gold but so is a good Fencer.

No offense to Ranger mains. They kinda got shafted in 5.

Super acid gun maxes out at 800 meters, not 250. Still shoots straight. Its super solid for all of hardest and a fair chunk of inferno.

Why does Wing Diver's weapons range from "insanely OP" to "complete and utter shit" with little in-between?

Thats every classes weapons. Theres a few OP as fuck ones, and everything else goes into the dumpster. Which is a shame, because I wish everything was useful.

Nix's are, but rangers get tanks, EMCs, choppers, and bikes. Also rangers can still drive everything, even what the air raider calls down

ranger sort of. You can carry healing reversers and use support equipment that increases how much they heal when you pick up medpacks.

Maybe if you get two people working together, one to throw the turbo roombas and the other to slap C4 on them.

Don't release HAIL if you have any downward velocity at all, unless you're miles off the ground. You also have to be aware of any inclines and buildings near you since you might dash into them from off-camera.
