The Scarlet Crusade tmog set with Drake-Talon Pauldrons has been my DK's look since Legion and before that I used my own missmashed set to look like a crusader.

that's retail, and it's green-quality so you have to roll for it. in classic it drops randomly off the trash mobs that swarm into herod's room after you kill him. also it's white-quality so you don't roll for it, so you gotta spam click the corpses to loot it before your fuckhead squadmates do.

I don't remember exactly if it was always green or white because vanilla was over a decade ago, but I remember that when humans could be hunters, I offered to run people through SM as an 85 hunter so long as they passed on the tabard (I'd pass on everything else) and some fucking night elf needed it anyway. I always thought it would've been cool to let you join subfactions at 60, which would change your allegiance and hostility to other players.

For example, Druids of either faction could join the Cenarion Circle and would be neutral to most everyone, humans could join the Scarlet Crusade and be hostile to everyone but other humans, Argent Dawn would take any priest or paladin, Wildhammer Dwarves would take other non-priest, non-paladin dwarves and allow you to change your class to Shaman.

It depends if you think their harsh methods are crazy or not. On one hand, it's said they're hostile and attempting to kill any non-human they come across, yet they have at least one dwarf and high elf in their employ, and they do have emissaries out in various places in alliance territory. Their inability or unwillingness to enter diplomacy with groups who would likely help them (The Alliance would generally like to see the undead erradicated from Lorderon) isn't speaking too much for their stability, though as time passes, it's shown they do eventually work with the Argent Dawn to help drive out the Scourge once and for all.

Any nuance in the faction went out the door for WotLK though, they were a harsher, more wicked Argent Dawn at that point and although Balthazzar was expelled from their ranks, the destruction of Tyr's Hand and eventual conversion of its members to undead was the end of them for anyone but RPers.

Just because transmog doesn't exist in vanilla doesn't mean you still can't ERP wearing it.

They're not enemies, not even formally at war.
Scarlet Crusade mobs are hostile to Human players because A) They could be tainted, controlled, or otherwise untrustworthy B) You're the one attacking them, and C) it doesn't make any sense, blizzard ran out of time to make more faction-specific instances, so don't look too hard into it
