How would you guys fix the new metroid so that it's a higher quality game that meets the high standards of the originals? Boy, I've got a few ideas.

We need bosses who will beat you into submission
Other than that, everything should be set out already. The series has plenty to work off of.

That wasn't me user. Sorry. seeI don't make alot of threads. When I do, I try and make them as video game related as possible, without any distracting images. I would never even touch a ZSS thread, let alone make one. I'm just frustrated that gameplay discussions are very hard to get going.
You can like the story, I guess. But does it need those mandatory dialogue dumps mid-elevator? And the mandatory briefings with Adam weren't very compelling either. At the least they could implement a new game + that makes all of this optional. As it stands, it's really hard to go back to Fusion because of this.

I don't like gimmicks. I like when a game doesn't need story or sexy main characters, and can just be good on its own. Can a game co-exist with these things? Maybe. But for now I wouldn't trust the company behind Metroid: other M to make such a game. Samus Returns was actually a welcome return to form, I'd rather them not regress. imagine if you will: would Samus Returns be a better game if all of the chozo memories were mandatory, unskippable cutscenes, and Samus monologued over each one of them?

Fucking up countless threads? I only post about video games and, worst case scenario, I post some controversial video game ideas like removing the majority of story in a game, or downsizing the graphical budget, or in the case of Zelda games or Xenoblade, removing the voice acting to cut down the budget. That's why I think most Metroid games don't have voice acting, because Metroid's budget is too small to allow it, and that was a major failing of Prime 3, which I assume ran out of money because of it so the levels had to be made linear and more scripted. That might not have been the exact reason, but it was a part of it I'm sure. And then the forbidden game had voice acting, and that was an even bigger drain on the budget, which made the gameplay even worse. Like with many games, I see it as an unnecessary expense.

She needs to return to an older slate. Back in the old days her being out of the suit was a minor element of the game. Maybe 5 seconds at the end if you did very specific things ingame. The last update was quite a while ago, and not much was talked about until then. This will be the final gameplay update, and 1.5 will officially be the graphical overhaul (they didn't want people to feel forced into getting the graphical update just for the gameplay improvements).
It's actually nice, it was a good announcement for Metroid's anniversary and it'll give us content to hold us over until then.
I've got a 2D Metroid V idea that I'd love to see done: >Brief Super Metroid style intro informs us that Samus got arrested and framed for the BSL fiasco >Gets sent to SPACE PRISON in orbit around a new planet, and genetically nerfed of most of her Fusion powers >BSL reverse engineered her suit while she was out at the start of Fusion, so all the Federation guards are basically SA-Xs >Story over, game starts: pirates attack the prison to bust out their bois, Samus escapes her cell >Inmates, guards, and pirates are about, get a glimpse at some future bosses amidst the fighting >Opening is played suitless, in pseudo Zero suit prison garb and ends with her beating a boss and getting the Varia Suit >Prison then breaks into pieces in orbit and crashes into the planet >Bulk of the game: Prison wreckage is scattered across the planet's surface, Samus must traverse the planet's ecosystems to recover her equipment and get off world >Recover old equipment by beating alien inmate bosses who are using the reverse engineered prototypes of her shit >Get new equipment by defeating wildlife bosses and absorbing their essence (because she's still got some X in her now or some shit and can do that) >Enemies include wildlife, inmates, guards, pirates, robots, etc.
