Why the fuck does Torna get so much praise?
The Titan wasn't as new or original as the ones in the main game, and the combat is much worse.

I get the feeling most people who think it "fixed" the combat are complete brainlets too retarded for the maingame combat.

I'd say start by emulating Xenoblade 1, that way you can experience the gameplay without spending 60 dollars. If you like it enough, then get 2. The gameplay's a little different but generally similar enough that if you liked 1's you'll like 2's.

Xenosaga was tasteful waifufaggotry. KOS-MOS was always pandering yet her design was still aesthetically pleasing and could be taken seriously when need be though I will admit the boob knife was a bit much. She's also canonically holy and pure.
Mythra's design on the other hand just isn't good outside of some neat motifs and a nice palette, and I found myself having trouble taking any scene with her in it seriously.

Mythra is wearing glorified lingerie with her shitty low-poly ass hanging out half the time, and giant anti-gravitational melons that have 0 physics for some reason despite her hair flying all over the place at the slightest movement.
The scene that pic related is from always comes to mind. Just look at how awkward her ass looks and how her hair is blatantly clipping through her model and even itself.

I still loved 2, but things like this are frustrating because they're pretty much all that prevent it from being my favorite Xenoblade game.

These are pretty much the things that I find awkward about Pyra's and Mythra's character models, along with some proportions that look off. The "glorified lingerie" is a non-issue and the clipping/ass looking odd is a technical problem, not really much to do with any specific design issue. I'd have liked it to look more polished, but it's nothing that really impacted my experience. Like I wasn't even paying attention to Mythra's body during that scene.

It's funny because what prevents 2 from being my favourite are more things that actually impact the game (for me) such as the odd pacing difference when comparing the early chapters to the later ones, the field skill blade swapping, the lack of Blades that can be gotten from quests, and a couple of questionable writing choices.

i would very much enjoy a game with a world as xboxhueg as any of the 3 but being action oriented instead of this mmo-style gameplay

Breast physics in XB2 are all over the place for some reason, they're extremely subtle on some characters and then you have situations like Vale's jello tits.

Outside of pacing, which I really didn't have any issues with outside of the first half of chapter 4, I definitely agree with those issues.

imo the best way to play XBX is to just take your time and explore as much as you want instead of focusing on story goals, as that's where the game really shines. I didn't get the flight module until I was 80 hours in and it just made the moment that much more satisfying.
Also the flight module kinda trivializes the exploration since you can easily get anywhere with it.

The online is only useful as a time saver. You get reward tickets that let you buy rare materials that you'd otherwise have to grind for, and when it was alive, there were 2 secret bosses you could fight. They're not that special. Yggralith Zero is just a reskinned Pharsis the Everqueen.

You also got to see other peoples' mims in the overworld, and you could recruit high level ones to cheese some parts of the game.

Except they could have just as easily made a symbol for each Monado art the same way they had symbols for the other Arts.
Especially that they physically appear on the sword. Shit could have just been color-coded where the Monado's circular area changed color and that would be enough.
The thing that really makes me think about it being sort of like anime is the fact that the Kanji actually appear on the sword. That's an aesthetic choice that definitely seems like it was meant to be cool rather than purposeful, like how Cloud's Cross Slash spells out "misfortune." That aesthetic detail has no value other than to look cool

Xenoblade 1 is still extremely shonen anime-esque in how its story plays out and how its characters develop and interact in its story; but to be fair every single Xeno game is extremely anime. Xenoblade 1 is just the most stereotypically shonen out of all of them. I think a large part of this is because the focus of Xenoblade 1 wasn't to have a crazy indepth story, so they went with something simple and relateable that could be executed perfectly.

For how generic and simple Xenoblade 1's story is, I think it's the most well executed Xeno story in general.

The game really grew on me after reaching Mor Ardain, it's still a couple away from you but relatively early in the game
And yeah XC2 has too many systems in my opinion, level ups happen almost automatically don't don't matter that much but then you have blade affinities, weapon skills, that character skill chart, weapon chips, aux cores, accessories, etc.
It all is a bit much and seems to be complicated for the sake of being complicated, I enjoyed XC1 a lot more in that regard
I also loved how XC1 remembered which armor you wore and showed that again during flashbacks, it was a small feature but I enjoyed seeing my old equipment every time it happened

-Use Pouch Items as much as possible, especially the ones that lets you recharge your Arts faster. Makes the flow of the battle better.
-On skill trees, you will see an ability unlock "Cancel a driver art with another driver art". It's imperative that you unlock this ASAP because it boosts the flow of battle tremendously.
-Also get the 3 skills that lets you start a battle with the Art already charged on the X, Y and B buttons
-Understand the Attack Cancelling mechanic, as it makes the flow of the battle better by recharging Arts quickly
-Swapping blades refills their arts palette.
-You can combo into and out of swapping blades.
-Most enemies will aggro you if you aren't 8 levels above them. And look at your environment before taking a step in the wild, or you could get your ass raped by a Gorilla 80 levels over you. But the game don't punish you for exploring, so don't be afraid to do it.
-Don't use too much bonus XP at inns unless you really need to because it can completely trivialize the game.
-Focus on the Driver Combo of Break > Topple > Launch > Smash when they will be introduced. The sooner you can understand this set up, the better.
-You can raise trust between a Driver and their Blade by repeatedly using pouch items over and over again. It costs money, but later in the game money is a non-issue.
-Raising trust with your Blade is needed to unlock the Blade's skill tree in most cases.
-Don't waste protocol overdrives. Especially on common blades. The game only gives you a few.
-DON'T kill the little Arduran in Torigoth until you feed it to Lv.99. He'll become the best Legendary Cores farming spot.

The more time passes the more I think XBC2 was just a decent game. Combat becomes a rhythm game after you unlock art cancels and mechanics such as crit healing really trivialize the game. Doesn't help that you can't make blade specific runs because most rare blades are gacha blocked.

KOS-MOS is literally a hentai-inspired character. They hired CHOCO, a guy who normally just does hentai to design KOS-MOS in Xenosaga 1 and nobody else. They wanted KOS-MOS to be sexy/sexualized. KOS-MOS's design is the basis for Mechon Fiora's design, Ayylma's design and Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma's design.

CHOCO came back to redesign every Xenosaga character for Xenosaga 3, hence why Shion looks like a stripper. CHOCO also did all the armor designs for Xenoblade X, hence why some of the armor is the most sexualized in the entire Xeno series.

Tanaka draws half-naked loli catgirls in diapers and also used to draw exposed breasts all the time.

Xenoblade 1's character designer is uncredited because Monolith didn't have a character designer. Instead, we know that the characters were designed by a group of Monolith's internal artists.
Honne and Monolith's internal artists drew the basics for the characters so the Armor designers and storyboard would have something to work with. An intern (Tonny) used built-off those basic barebone designs.and turned them into the characters for the final product.
