You have _less_ responsibility as tank in dungeons than in trials and raids. Your job is mostly just to keep the boss locked into the middle of the arena, and occasionally use provoke or shirk if the fight requires tank swapping. Meanwhile the DPS are the ones running around doing the mechanics.

People are scared of bringing BLM I assume because they need good knowledge of fights compared to everyone else and a lot of bad players can't do this.

In fairness they're filtering out a tremendous amount of BLMs that are just total mouthbreathers or think they can use a job oriented towards already knowing the fight for prog.

When you get to HW, beeline the MSQs because flying mounts are locked behind it. They make a huge difference in traversing zones.

Coil isn't feasible unless you unsync. 2+ hour long queues for crap items and a lot of confused sprouts.

take the MB cost of ALL the materials needed, include the cost of crystals, configure how much of each mat you will need to figure the money needed to create amount. Multiply the amount of finished items needed by how much the sum of how much the materials cost on average, then add 30% or so.

A better way would just scale all the spells to levels, and lock off some spells until you reach a higher level.

Or, do it like FFXI. You need to EQUIP spells, and each spell has a point value. You only get, say, 1 point per level, and spells can cost up to 15 points, with simple spells being 2-4 points, and powerful or very useful ones being 15.

Your "role" is assigned by weighing which spells you have equipped.
Lots of defensive and hate management spells? You're now a tank.
Buffs and healing spells? You're a healer.
Damage and debuffs? You're a DPS.

Conversations about BLU are usually pretty interesting because people end up bumping into the same problems the developers did, and I've noticed some repeat posters in particular will try to heavily downplay those problems since they have a case of the ass against limited jobs. For example you can't gate off spells because that makes no sense with the Learning system and Learning has always been core to Blue Mage, but without gating off spells or completely removing Learning it can't ever be balanced for raids or even be allowed into dungeons, because nobody wants a Water Cannon machine when even a class can finish a lv. 80 dungeon. Giving BLU a completely separate spell-pool for PvE instanced content totally defeats the point of the Learning system and renders the multitude of spells you can obtain as just glamours.

It would have to be like, say, the threshold for having a viable build requires 51% of your points being in a "main role".
So, each "role" would have 2x 15pt skills that are required, and you need to equip the entire set at level 50, and at, say, level 65 the third 15pt skill unlocks and the third "main skill" block opens up.

This ensures that the majority of your skill points are spent on role skills, but still gives lots of flexibility.

The main 15pt skills also give the requisite stat boosts to set your stats to match your job, and all Blue Mage main equipment would have fairly even stat bonuses so that it's viable for all job roles.

the secondary skills would add those secondary stats like Tenacity and Crit Chance, etc.

It doesn't work in XIV's set-up without being a BLU-flavored caster because there are far too many context-sensitive effects tied to monster abilities and spells to work in a game like this, but the very moment it's not allowed into raids people raise the fucking klaxons to make it a BLU-flavored caster so it's allowed in, I don't get it

Easily fixed by tying Self-Destruct to the Limit Break gauge, unique to BLU, and having it reduce their HP to 1.

This way, it's just another cool limit break that does damage and maybe adds a useful debuff.
Example: Consumes limit break gauge and 2000/4000/8000 potency. Enemies hit take 3/6/10% more damage for 15 seconds, reduces BLU HP to 1 and adds res sickness.

There, now Self Destruct in a party setting works and is pretty useful.

BLU is a limited job and doesn't touch the typical endgame so neo-vaginas weep blood at it not being allowed into raids or theorycraft full rotations that don't replicate monster spells so it can be allowed in. It's mainly useful for farming allied seals and poetics tomestones because it has its own weeklies.
