I like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games. Can you guys recommend me some good jrpgs with fantasy setting and without moe?
I like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games...
Vagrant Story
>without moe
>DQ and FF
Mana series
Octopath traveler, it's getting a sequel
Earthbound
octopath is always my response to people that want FF to go back to the SNES era of design. that game was painfully boring at best, and shows that nostalgia only gets you so far
JRPGS are unoriginal trash
Breath of Fire
Suikoden
Lufia
Lunar
If I like dq will I enjoy grandia? game looks comfy
Treasure of the Rudras
You sure will.
Octopath is a meme. The setting and story is some of the most bland rpg trope shit in history
have sex
Octopath is the premier tourist JRPG, avoid at all costs
Never really tried, it's good? Also, it's connected to FFT?
Only finished Legend and Sword. Which should i try?
My toaster won't run it.
Lack the fantasy setting. But I'll try it someday.
Is gba Lufia a good entry on the series?
Everything else is a DQ clone, Persona is at least modern instead of high fantasy but is mostly shit
Legend of Dragoon
Bravely Default
Bravely Second
Super Mario Rpg
The Last Remnant
You’d like Lionheart Legacy of the Crusader.
Can't help you on the Lufia question, only played it on SNES.
>The Last Remnant
One of the worst recommendations you could give someone who likes FF and DQ
>I like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games.
>but doesn't like moe
I'm getting mixed messages here
I played it on the Switch and thought it was a very enjoyable experience. Really looking forward to the next game.
Anyone who says Octopath Traveller is good clearly hasn't played the superior FF homage, Bravely Default & Bravely Second.
The difference is that Bravely Default is an homage to a good game
Someone play Final Fantasy Dimensions dammit
FUCK OFF NORMALFAG YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT MOE IS
>without moe
there are no others
you must play dragon quest for all of eternity
Really? I never played it myself. Sorry. I was just listing other games that seemed similar
How do I into this series? She looks cute
>bravely games
>good
pick one
Mana user, Secret is a classic and Trials is good if you have a Switch, both were recently rereleased together. Trials is also getting a multiplat remake, if you want to wait on that.
I wanted to like it but the Brave/Default system was retarded. There was no reason to not Brave nuke most random encounters and there was no reason not to just default to max on each boss fight before actually deciding to play the game
You were probably thinking of lost odyssey, the other xbox 360 jrpg
There's also Blue Dragon.
Lost Odyssey is awesome though
I played the remake of Secret a bit. There's that delay time when you hit a monster that get me nervous, so i dropped it. Should i give it a second chance?
Secret is shit, just wait for the Trials remake.
What in the fuck does that mean you pseud queer? We’re talking about games not wine or books.
Not out yet(and won’t be for a couple of years) but re fantasy from atlus seems to be the next big project
It gets more complicated later on. The real problem is that the gameplay only needs you to get granular when you hit cap, right before it starts the looping bullshit
kind of an obvious one, but i haven't seen it mentioned yet, so chrono trigger
Good shit, although I have to admit I got burned out by the third scenario, I have to go back and finish it.
1 and 2 are a bit archaic, they are similar to early dragon quest, meaning you will have to talk with most npcs to know what to do and where to go. 4 is more casual friendly and plays like snes/ps1 jrpgs, people seem to like it the most, you may appreciate it more if you play the first two games before it, but I don't think it's needed.
First game has first person dungeon crawling, you will have to draw your own maps or google them if you are lazy. I was told to play the SMS version with a translation patch, so go with that too. You will have to grind for a few minutes before leaving the very first town, after that it's a walk in the park.
Second game is made for masochists, it drops first person dungeons for classic top down view. It's got a very slow movement, high encounter rates and giant, tedious labyrinths for dungeons. You will have to return to your house every now and then to recruit more characters. Not sure I can recommend it. Major plot element is explained in the intro of the fourth game. I like it's music the most.
Most people skip the third one, worst OST, the battle theme will make your ears bleed. Dropped it after second generation of characters showed in. A couple of characters return for the fourth game. Artbook gives the characters what they lack in the actual game.
Stopping here because I'm tired.
