WoW Classic and What It Means

I'd like to have a classic thread without home posting or streamerfaggotry, please.

In the business of brands, you evolve the brand and strengthen it. You show the consumers your newer, better brand, and you absolutely do not compromise your brand. One of the most devastatingly compromising things that can be done to your brand is to roll it back to a previous iteration. Doing so harms your brand irrevocably by making it look like your brand, your strategy, your everything, was incorrect. Misguided. Poorly thought out. It does not strengthen your brand to put forth an older version of your brand, it makes your brand appear weak. I feel like blizzard is making a dangerous move for the World of Warcraft as a brand by creating classic. They are basically saying the game they have created today is flawed. No matter how true or not that might be, by saying it they are playing with fire.

Do you think they made the right choice? Do you feel that going forward, WoW will grow as a game after Classic?

Yeah, they should've kept New Coke.

Layer #251, home

I'm ready to gank streaming cucks and their orbiters.

actiblizz have irredeemably fucked the game, and it has been hemorrhaging subscribers for years because of it, this is their last desperate push to keep their shit afloat

this is what happens when you remove all challenge and emergent gameplay from a game, and turn it from a living, breathing world into a stale lobby

Obtuse and largely successful marketing strategies like new coke are too much of an exception

>post yfw retailcucks have to pay €15 to play while we will not

can you ever stop SHITPOSTING so much?
there's a reason why they are called shitposts

What? user I just want to gank streamers and make them have meltdowns.

fuck off retailcuck

Yes, they've made the right choice. Unlike real life products when discontinuing old models in favor of newer ones, the old product has been made unavailable to all. Imagine if a manufacturer destroyed your old model of their product because they "upgraded", which in this case at least is a very subjective matter, and gave you their newer one instead.
They are not "rolling back" to the old product either, they're reinstating production and sale of it. You can still play BfA if you prefer it.

What's the point of Yea Forums if not shitposting?

I think they're cutting their loses. The current state of the brand is fucked. There isn't a single real person in my monkey sphere that has said anything nice about modern WoW. The last few expansions have damaged the brand to the point that Classic has stronger marquee. It's indeed dangerous for a company to admit mistakes but they have to eventually if the current brand is not viable.

Layering will kill classic in its current form

sub is 9€ on keysites m8

Making posts that can be judged on the merits of the information contained within them rather than posting history. Stop poisoning the well.

Will be good for emulation that will have a more reliable database.
The blizzard is just doing it for the money, but the fact that people are looking for a more fun version of the game in the past means that a lot went wrong in those 20 years.
If the project is successful it will inevitably create expansions due to the nature of an MMORGP, so it may have two timelines or the retail version will be canceled/forgotten and there will be a reboot on the expansions.
A reboot will not be good for digital archeology, two versions of the same game will split the community of private servers, both developers and players. With that the game ends up dying sooner.

>retail version will be canceled/forgotten
that is like an apocalypse scenario my man

>I'd like to have a classic thread
you already have like a fucking dozen, retared

those are just excuses to post wojaks all day

You're legitimately crazy if you think Blizzard will split development or discontinue retail. At most they'll expand and add simultaneous BC or Wrath servers.

Remember that Classic is part of the regular retail sub. All Blizzard will see is that subs are up. They will not care which half of the ant farm is driving profits.
