What was the name of that evil bitch in the last series, before this one?
She was a much more popular character, and she was female, so why not make a spin off series on her instead?

It would work as well as the show. Which is to say it's fucking awful diet pop sci-fi that only soi drinkers and women enjoy.

The only way that I could see this working was if you did a turn-based JRPG kind of game like the earlier Final Fantasy games where your main party consists of the player's chosen doctor and their main companions. Each version of the Doctor would use their version of the sonic screwdriver as their main weapon and each would have different abilities stats and moves based on their personalities and stories.

The companions would use generic weapons but they'd have unique stats and moves

Yeah. The gameplay wouldn't really be exciting or anything so the games would have to have a great script to keep players interested. But I just don't see any other way to adapt a story-driven show about over 10 versions of the same character that each have their own supporting casts and unique stories.

Alternatively, I guess you could ditch the established canon entirely and make a more exciting, open-world game. You could kill off the current Doctor introduce a new, game-exclusive version of the Doctor with no companions at the start of the game and have them exploring the galaxy--fighting solo at first but building a team along the way.

Make it about some other timelord during the time war, Have the doctor be a supporting role at most, regeneration could work as a kind of game over, certain actions over the course of the game could have you get killed and regenerate as usual unless you get to your 13th and get killed in which you'd receive a bad ending. the universe should have to be entirely explorable as well, either that or have a completely sandbox gallifrey. Not sure how to make time travel work though.

There already are Doctor who games and some of them were free for bongs at least. I played one of the Vita I think. They were basically adventure type games a mix of point and click with some puzzles and platforming.
