They released a translation of the original because they were localizing the remake anyway and the original was on Switch already in a collection. That's the same script the remake is going to have. There was literally no reason not to slap the new script onto the collection so they could sell that, too.

They are not prohibiting anything. There is no official translation they are locking in a backroom.
There is no suppression. Itoi doesn't give enough of a shit TOO translate it over seas or it would have already gotten one.

Oh man I started playing Mother 3 today.
Im 3 hours in and I love this game already.

I've played all 3 and my favourite is Earthbound. I don't have any bias towards it because I played it in 2007 but Mother 1 felt like it was missing a lot of features that Mother 2 had and Mother 3 felt like it was one big cinema experience. I just wanted to be left alone after the first long cutscene so I could explore and fight things but instead I get a bunch of weird cutscenes and characters that don't feel like they are fully part of my party and the storyline is slightly off when compared to Mother 2 (earthbound) because they don't really reference it. The heartbeat monitor thing was a weird concept and because I was emulating it I didn't get the full experience but overall I would prefer more basic combat like in Earthbound and every other SNES JRPG but that's just my preference.

I've been playing a lot of M3 and EB lately, it's better than most RPGs I've played. Kind of a shame they're not makin any more or localizing the game, but the ending of 3 would kinda be neutered if they decided "hey guys! Lol that apocalypse wasn't actually an apocalypse!"

If you had any knowledge of the history of 64’s development then you would understand that what they’re asking for doesn’t necessarily imply it needs to be made from scratch. Neither are reasonable to expect anyways so yes I would prefer 64 as well.

A playable demo exists of Earthbound 64, it's not worth releasing on its own though, it should be bundled with Mother 3.

This game is so fucking unfun. No wonder it bombed in Japan back in the day.
The gameplay is tedious and laggy as fuck...even the menus are laggy.

Seiken Densetsu 2 had its issues but it was a more fun game than this.
Secret of Evermore is the best "Mana" game despite not being a Mana game officially.
