It's not really a copout, except in the case of Abyssal.
Most of the Rare species are attached to the ancient Towers with only Gold and Silver leaving it after G. Given that the Guiding Lands icon looks like they're bringing in a new Tower map it makes sense for them to bring back Rares.

It's 100% give or take on whether they do unique models with a weapon or not. Sometimes you get a unique model, sometimes you get a weapon with shit slapped on it, sometimes you get a recolor of bone/iron and nothing else.

yeah, the capcom german fuckup doesn't seem to differentiate between variant and sub, and there's suspicious poison and blast weapons on the LS tree that could easily be lucent narga and molten tigrex.
Amusingly if those two are in and the metal raths are (and they always are in g-rank games) then that's every mainline rare sub other than abyssal lagi. That last one isn't happening of course. Hell, even if Lagi were in, abyssal lagi still wouldn't happen.

To be fair the Freeze Gale is not really considered a Legiana weapon.
Which is sad because most Legiana weapons look really good.

What would make Lucent exciting is that it means they've figured out stealth cloaking. That would mean Chameleos is in or post launch.

I only kind of considered it that because, well, Legiana was the only ice monster in the damn game and the Frost Blade/Freeze Gale uses its parts.

I think the Freeze Gale is more like the Water Dual Blades in that regard, not related to the monster it needs parts from.
It would have at least some Legiana parts slapped onto it if it was the case.
Also I think Legiana weapons are one rare occasion where every weapon is unique at the end.

I actually found White Fatalis to be the easiest of the three in 4U because his shitty quick slaps don't do 80% of your HP like normal Fatalis, and you don't need to build for fire resist out the ass to avoid getting roasted like Crimson

Nargas sometimes gain the double tail slam and double spin, but what makes Green Narga truly unique is its instant stun properties the tail slam and spikes have.

That and he has some of the best damn para weapons with awaken.

I agreee, he's not "hard" to melee in the same way that it isn't "hard" to kill F1 days basarios with a yellow sharpness weapon. It just isn't fun.

I have only 740 defense and his bolts only deal like 60%. Big Daddy got nerfed to hell in 4U.

Crimson was the real winner because of his amazing rework. That fight was great and half his weapons didn't look ugly anymore.

But he's not that tedious either. Just hit the glowing parts and trip his ass to access the head when he goes on land. When he enters armor mode, hit his glowing spot on his ass and then hit the dick when it breaks. Miralis is fine.

He was an AOE spammer mostly because his animations were simple and hard to rig back on the PS2. Look at how little he actually moves.

My guess is that it's the New World's version of the Tower, with gameplay mechanics of the Everwood in 4U. Variants spawn here during Expeditions are you hunt them down to acquire special Variant investigations.
Since expeditions were almost never really done in World outside of gathering of misc materials that each individual player requires, I thought the devs might want to focus more on the expedition aspect and encouraging players to go on expeditions more. You can even SOS during an expedition, which literally no one does, so I think this can help multiple players to join in what is technically a boss rush that has their desired target spawn, in order to obtain the target's special investigation.

It's ok to use perdition's hand like right after you kill nerg for the first time, but you should move on from it pretty quick. Jho's lance and empress styx are better. Once you get either 3 piece teo gamma or 4 piece drachen, you move on to odo lance until you win tarroth crest claw from kulve.

Odo+non element and Lunastra styx are too weak. Nerg outdamages both despite only hitting blue sharpness while having more than enough white to maintain sharpness relevant against targets that don't always trigger WE like Lavasioth and Lunastra. Jho weapons are disgusting post-release power creep. 230 raw, white sharpness with only Handi+2, and high elderseal in a game where any weapon can have high affinity is just too much.

I DO have Taroth Claw on console though. I only bench it because I just don't like Taroth weapons despite it being one of the only good looking Taroth weapons in the game. Maybe I'll just transmog Urugaan armor with it. I like wearing both.

Jho, Nerg, Vaal, Kirin, Bazel, Legiana, Lunastra, and Diablos weapons are still really good, user. Plus you have the occasional oddball like Divine Slasher, Wyvern Ignition, Anja Arch III, Jyra Bullet III, Earthshaker Magda Lahat, and Magda Gimetus which are all fantastic weapons.

There is no shame in not using Taroth weapons. If you don't wanna use Jho gear either that's fine. There's plenty of good gear from MHW on release.

No, Tobi literally has a charge mechanic. It's just that he charges a lot quicker. Don't believe me? Equip Agitator and you'll realize it only goes off when he roars into rage mode like every other monster except Diablos.

Because the truth is HH is actually very simple and straight forward. You hit the monster with the corresponding note attack, you hit the monster with the song and encore the monster's face if your opening is big enough, and use X > A infinite combo when you have "downtime" or the monster goes down. Think of HH as a hammer with a longer reach and trades damage for songs.

So what's next for the series after Iceborne? Will we be seeing MHW Portable on the Switch? Is MHGU gonna be the last "old school" monster hunter game?

I’ve got every other deco in the game, and enough of each to max out their skills, so it’s getting kind of tiresome when I can’t be excited for any rarity 7 or 8 deco I get anymore. It’s all just wasted rolls to me. On the bright side I have become extremely efficient at hunting the worst monster in the game.

IMO the best way to make a poison monster is the one that makes you not depend on antidotes and more about avoiding getting poisoned in the first place. That was the gimmick behind Gigginox

Monster Hunter World still simplified and streamlined a lot of aspects of "old" MH still present in MHGU that I'd count it as old school, namely the skill tree system.

Sony practically owns Monhun, RE, SF now as none of those games would have gotten a modernized sequel/remake without Sony's big dick funding. DMC5 was a much smaller title.

MHGU introduced Valor, which simplified a ton of things. Mainly evasion, a bunch of weapon power gimmicks, and even buffs weapons to ridiculous levels. In my eyes, that is worse than what World did.

Worldbabby here. If I'm going on fully solo runs with Great Sword, should I expect to be getting a fully charged TCS on a fairly often basis once I get gud enough? Right now I'm farming Nergi and I find my opportunities to go all the way into a fully charged TCS nearly impossible outside of when he's knocked down or he's asleep. Most of the time I'll just get an SCS before I have to nope the fuck out of one of his attacks, because trying to shoulder it and then charging the TCS just leaves me attacking the air. Or am I doing something wrong?

Issue is I'm straight up losing my interest in IG, I've had SA as a secondary weapon for awhile now in World.

Not that guy, but it's actually a 30 hunt trophy. Base world had 6 elder dragons counting Xeno too, and had a 50 elder hunt trophy. So they can get by with less than 6 for a 30 hunt.

If it's possible to get some maps remade I'd want Jungle to come back. Consistently been one of my favorite maps in the series.

To add to this, they can easily do rusted kush, raging brachy, savage jho, and add them to shriekeing legi and ruiner nerg and that's already 5, more than enough. But they're probably doing a bazel variant too. So there's that.

Most Layered Armors come from beating the AT monsters, usually twice since they need 2 tickets. There's a few headpiece layered armors you can get from doing event quests and "Name's Lavasioth" quest gets you Beetle layered armor.

Honestly though, they know everyone complained about it before and after the beta demo. They're gonna be on their best behaviour until release. I've been using HR Anja, but Deviljho is kicking my ass and I think I need something better.

Just get ready to unlearn certain things. I'd say the most annoying thing is mining nodes. Since it's literally cracks on certain walls that never change appearance you can break a pick axe whilst mining only to find out there's nothing left in that particular spot. Also weapons don't have certain moves yet like Great Sword's side smack, the SnS shield bash, Gunlance is completely different, and so on. Hammer is the most unchanged because why change perfection? Just be sure to make the gunhammer because that's what winners use.

I'd say learn the first two as soon as you can because their shields will save you from a lot of bullshit, mostly involving the flying and piscine wyvern. You can go all hammer if you want, I'm just saying don't be surprised when you're blind sided by things that clearly shouldn't have hit you. Also be careful with Khezu as there's no panic running at all. They commit to the whole blind angle fully so you have no super man dives what so ever.

I only started using LS after having trouble with arch tempered monsters. Now it's almost all I use

High Metal waist gives you capacity boost. You can probably mix anja and lumu stuff to get artillery 3, and then either try to fit in as much handicraft as possible. Conversely, 4 piece Odogaron will give you protective polish, so you can fullburst all day every day. Item Prolonger will extend the time you have infinite sharpness.

Overall though, normal gunlance is a bit of a poor matchup against deviljho. His legs are too thin to safely get fullbursts on. A wide gunlance or even a long one like the Zorah gunlance would probably be better since individual shells are easier to hit with. If you go for the Zorah route, get as much Focus as possible. Long shells get the most out of being charged so you want that to be quick.

MHF through early MHFU it was Hammer, late MHFU through the rest of the handhelds it was DB. World it's been GL because it finally feels fucking good to use. I also secretly love the HH through all the games that've had it and at times I might've answered that, but man it really fucking sucks to feel like I'm gimping myself in solo hunts.

It's nothing against you, but LS and GS are consistently the most newb friendly weapons along with Sword n Shield. Hell you can argue Long Sword is when you want to actively think less while still not only doing lots of damage but also be an equal contributor to your compatriots in hunts. Having said all that, glad you branched out and don't be afraid to get your feet wet with some weapons. If you really want to improve with the ones you're not doing good with do some arena quests; they're free and there's nothing between you and the monster.

I've been fighting ATs and shit and I still have no clue what to fucking do in the Kulve quests. I did it twice and all I did was poke it and get footprints.

Join a Kulve room
Bring a Lightning weapon to the first 3 rooms
When her coat falls off see if people are chasing or just letting her time out (she leaves after 5 minutes in each room roughly, only peak autismo rooms will be going for a 1 run clear and you're not gonna be in one of those)
If they're chasing her to the last room, go back to the tend and switch to either really high raw, high Ice damage, or something that can shit out Sleep/Paralysis
Only damage to her horns matters after the coat comes off.

It's a test of patience if you go with randoms. Basically you're going to sniff foot prints round 1. With randoms, you're going to try to actually fight her and then fail round 2. Then you're probably going to fail again round 3. Round 4 is the real battle. First part you just knock the rocks from the ceiling. Second part is whacking her shit. Third part is knocking rocks from the ceiling and whacking her shit. Fourth part knocking down her horns.

That's the extremely oversimplified guide KT

40 hours is completely reasonable, read the post. By that point in the game you should be getting to the real meat of HR where the game could reasonably be considered "hard" by a new player. If it takes you 200 hours to hit your first HR Elder then something has gone horribly wrong or you're grinding out every single weapon/armor when you don't need to.

Kulve's fight is all about breaking her horns and getting her research up. Smack her gold coat in the spots where it hasn't been broken with a thunder weapon and when she gets naked do your best to hit her head, or focus on one leg until she trips and you can attack her face. It requires some serious autism to get the horn break at lower pursuit levels (fighting her and breaking her stuff increases pursuit level so subsequent fights are easier by reducing her part break thresholds, including the horns) but the average pub group can clear it at pursuit 3, which they usually get to after a single round if everyone is competent.

Thunder element only applies to weapons that actually benefit from element instead of going full raw. If you're going to use Hammer or GS you should obviously do the latter so yes, the shatterer is fine.

The fight is divided into 4 areas and 2 phases as well as Pursuit levels. In the first phase you want to break as many parts as possible until it sheds its gold armor. Once her armor is you want to damage its horns as much as you can(admittedly you should be attacking her horns every chance you get) until you break off the horns completely, by which point the hunt/Siege is over.
In the 1st area the best thing you can do is learn her walking routes and drop boulders on her, preferably right over her head. If she slumps over, you got the timing right. Don't bother with cannons except the one right next to the entrance of the 2nd area if you have enough time to load it. The 2nd and 3rd area are about dealing damage to her, just try not to cart and break as many parts as you can. Area 3 also has 3 boulders you can drop on her, try to lure her to them if you can. Once her armor is shed, it's down to Area 4. Focus on her horns as much as you can. If you're a melee player try to get a mount using the center pillar. Her tail is also breakable if you can't reach her horns safely.
Don't worry about completing the siege in Pursuit Level 1/2, it's practically impossible without spamming mega bombs. Once you're in P3+ focus on the horns when you can and use mega bombs on them any opening you get. The hunt is stupidly easy if you reach P5/P6, the only way you could not complete the hunt is if you never aim at the horns at all. Hope this helped/was understandable.

Kulve stands out as being the monster most weak to elemental damage. You can get away with it if you're really good at taken advantage of when she softens her armor, but without a lightning longsword you'll be doing shit damage otherwise. It's not that bad though: gem for partbreaker for an effective 30% increase in damage (because the whole fight is essentially breaking parts) and bombadier (because she takes triple damage from bombs and you should try to lay bombs down at her horns or her front arms whenever she falls down). With a decent group it doesn't really matter, just bring your highest damaging stuff and all the bombs and bomb making materials you can carry.

Also, her horns themselves are actually weak to ice, so if you're going the elemental route, you should switch out for the last phase.

Hammer's a bit of a poor matchup but it should be decent. Just try to not hit the head too much before the final phase because KOs are essentially wasted because the horns don't actually take damage until then, despite damage numbers showing up.

Hammers aren't really the ele type and only last stage is weak to ice, but that shit doesn't matter in pubs. As long as you don't die and do damage, you're more useful than the average rando.

It's only optimal if you have at least two full groups in the lobby. Otherwise it's faster to just go ham. Sniffing will take 8 minutes and get you to pursuit 2, while fighting normally will take 12 but at least get you to pursuit 3, where you can get a break reasonably.

All we've seen is that you can make Layered Sets at the Smithy now and there were tabs for Low/High Rank and Master Rank Sets. Could mean all Armors, could just mean when you unlock one of the select Sets it will be in the corresponding category for you to go craft it. We have our hopes up though.

they basically are, many think and some evidence can be found that the fish monsters where added late because they couldn't get the levithan skeleton to work. lava and mud fish are similar like uragann and radoban in that if you look at them closely they're slightly diffrent but not enough to make you think they didnt just copy and paste them

The end of the Lunastra special assignment and talking to the blacksmith unlocks a delivery quest for the only non-event layered. Everything else needs tickets from various events, mostly arch-tempered monsters.

Most playstyles spam SAEDs because they're your biggest damage. If you're spending most of your time in sword mode, keep your sword powered up when you safely can, use the Shield Thrust to keep you combos going endlessly, Charge Slash for big damage, and yes, learn to GP. GPs are essentially counters since you can instantly attack or do an SAED off of them, and this will land 70% of the time. Not to mention GPing just makes the weapon 300% more fun, especially when you get KOs off of them. They're also much safer than evading IMO.

Join a room at the gathering hub, equip LBG Styx with lightening ammo for the first few phases with partbreaker and some sort of ice weapon for the final phase. Make sure you're never in a position to take damage because a lot of AT Kulve's hits will cart you pretty easily.
