not roleplaying games

I bought them all

It's shit.

(USER WAS BILLED $90 FOR A COPY OF TES V: Skyrim SPECIAL EDITION)

I liked fallout 3 though.
New Vegas is bad.
Fallout 4 is bad.
Skyrim is bad.
Oblivion is bad.
fallout 1 is bad.
I have no idea why, but only fallout 3 succeeded to win me over.

A franchise with lore as fluid as water. Why they don’t care to stay faithful to it and still expect us to take it seriously as a role-playing game I have no idea.

>being Australian on purpose

Could unironically be better as their own Scifi universe, unrelated to Fallout but with the same open-world gameplay of Fo3/4. They actually do want to make their own "lovecraftian" Scifi fantasy but they can't do that fully since it still needs to keep it Fallout. So it's a burden they're stuck with now.

Minimum Viable Product "RPGs" which actively try to strip RPG elements because they introduce too much thinking. Todd actually said he looks at sequels in terms of what he can streamline instead of what he can add/improve, which leads to viewing everything as a function (fundamentally conflicting with the concept of roleplaying and player choice).

76 is better than 4 imo. Keep in mind they're both shit and not RPGs, but 76 only improves the explore, loot, sell gameplay loop that 4 has.

Not to mention it doesn’t have 4’s awful dialogue wheel and God-awful story.

And?

Shit carry weright
Shit storage
Shit merchants

Exploring is fine looting and selling are beyond fucked in 76.

Shit unless heavily modded

Better than the old shit, that's for sure.

>Liked Fallout 3
>Didn't like New Vegas
This isn't the first time I've seen this retarded opinion, so I ask of you: help me understand retards like you. New Vegas is literally Fallout 3 with every single aspect done 100% better.

To be fair, the lore's been a fucking flip flop since the Black Isle days. FO2 alone couldnt even decide when Jet was made (Mrs. Bishop was addicted before Myron even came around), and ghouls in general got a bit of back and forth on what exactly makes them and how much sustenance they needed.

What the fuck were they working on all these years. Why no Skyrim sequel? Its been nearly 10 years

Just buy the loot scraping tool from the shop friend ;^)

shit taste

Attached: 1561671982009.jpg (699x705, 43K)

Not him, NV honestly does some things worse. Every enemy is preplaced and there's no random encounters which takes a bit of the surprise away while wandering. At this point i've memorized the exact number and locations of every notable encounter on the road from Goodsprings looping to Boulder City.

except it's not.
It's just like someone throw 10 storybooks together and think that makes a complicated and good story.

They have no understanding of the setting and lore and what made fallout good, but they're still fun.

Not to mention no shop so you can't support Bethesda for their backbreaking work

Maybe it's because New Vegas fan(atic)s are obnoxious sóy boys who get upset when people don't like their slightly above average game.

I bought them all twice

youtube.com/watch?v=Cp7_-2uDTnI

>Too stupid to follow the plot of NV
Stunning.

They're just being ebin trolls. You'll only get extreme pedantic nitpicks or 500 iq replies.

this
>best bethsoft map
>great atmosphere
>surprisingly high amount of mob types
>an actual decent story (granted it all takes place before you leave the vault)
>might be Inon Zur's best score
>build a comfy countryside camp
>can actually join the Enclave
>Wastelanders is apparently gonna be more like Fallout 3, not 4
it's not perfect but it's in a much better spot than it was a year ago. Probably not worth more than $20 and still not an RPG but if Wastelanders and following NPC updates deliver it's actually gonna be better than 4. Quite a low bar but still.

Honestly gave it a try during the half off Quakecon thing and it really isnt all bad aside from the usual jank. The northern forest areas are comfy as fuck, being only around 30 years after the bombs makes for a unique point in the survivor stories and all, and the dreadful mood in places like the mining camps and such is perfectly somber. It also helps that fusion cores don't empty at the speed of light by default anymore and the new heavy weapons are appreciated. Can't fucking wait to bring out the Plasma Caster again.

I'd pick it up off a key site for $10-15 before normies catch onto the fact that the game is good now like they did with ESO and No Man's Sky and keys went through the roof. Especially with their content release schedule.

I like New Vegas. Can anyone recommend an RPG game they think is better than games in the fallout franchise cause I would like to play more RPGS.

Only if you compare vanilla versions and no one sane plays fo4 without mods.

Bethesda has a good gameplay loop, and I don't care about "roleplaying games"

In case anyone was curious, this is what actual shilling on Yea Forums looks like.

>adopt a child
>treat it with zero care and love
>perform weird experiments on it

>people actually LIKE a video game
>REEEEEEEEEEEE SHIIIIIILLL
dude I don't like Fallout 76 either but cmon

>someone likes something
>go buy a key that's probably stolen
MUST BE A SHILL

Depth in role playing takes away nothing from the "Bethesda gameplay loop". You can still be a brain dead retard and enjoy TESVI. It just gives people who care about that sort of thing more depth

get's better every game. fuck the boomers who say the old piece of shit clunkey games are any good ctfu

cant wait for fallout 6

I haven't played in awhile.
What does it do? Is it in the Atom Shop? If so did they bail on the cosmetic only thing?

>To be fair, the lore's been a fucking flip flop since the Black Isle days. FO2 alone couldnt even decide when Jet was made (Mrs. Bishop was addicted before Myron even came around)
That was just a minor oversight, and you could easily fix that by having her only become addicted as soon as Myron invented it, and nothing about the story would change

That doesn't even remotely compare to the shit Bethesda did to the lore.

Plebs.

They even put guardrails up to keep you on the proper narrative path. How much do anons need their hands held?

>contrarians and revisionists are so far up their own asses that they now unironically defend the Star Wars prequels and Bethesda's vidya post Morrowind

Sad!

> I like the old games so the fuck ups are fine.
I bet you have a hand wave for Obsidian putting Jet in the Sierra Madre casino as well don't you old timer?

the name "Fallout 3" implies that it's a direct sequel to a game called "Fallout 2: A post-nuclear role playing game". Instead it's just a shooter.

>FPS with ridiculously shit gunplay and melee play
>Ridiculously shit feel of control
>Most dialogue choices don't matter unless teh epic l00tz are hidden behind said option and thats all
very good so amazing wow i feel young again! thank you todd!

>> I like the old games so the fuck ups are fine.
I'm not excusing anything. You're retarded if you think BLack Isle getting a minor detail wrong is on par with what Bethesda did, like completely retconning the setting so that the capitol wasteland is still in shambles 200+ years after the bombs fell, as well as retconning the super mutants and brotherhood of steel to be present on the other side of the country somehow.

Fallout 2 itself has far bigger issues than that jet thing you listed.

Also there are no evil follower characters. There's only one who thinks that the Legion is not that bad, and everyone else is a goody two-shoes.

>>surprisingly high amount of mob types
Scorched, Scorched everywhere
>super mutants 20 years before the Master is even made and somehow it's in West Virginia
I like some of the creatures in 76 but why do people shill for a blatant bullshit game.

Yes but it went tits up when it was an RPG. Why repeat something that didn't work in the first place?

>To be fair, the lore's been a fucking flip flop since the Black Isle days. FO2 alone couldnt even decide when Jet was made (Mrs. Bishop was addicted before Myron even came around), and ghouls in general got a bit of back and forth on what exactly makes them and how much sustenance they needed.

>make thousands of threads complaining about the jet consistency
>nobody seems bothered by far bigger plot holes, like how the plot of fallout 3 is about finding a clean supply of water despite the capital wasteland having survived for 200+ years at that point
Oh, you're one of those.

>democracy elected Hitler, why repeat something that didn't work in the first place?

>Why repeat something that didn't work in the first place?
By making a sequel that's a better role playing game. You know, so that it actually does work?

The BoS walked across the country I believe.
They wanted the BoS on the East coast and it isn't some impossible task.

Bethesda was in a damned if you do damned if you don't dilemma with Fallout.
If they did bring the BoS and SM east they faced "Why don't you make your own factions?" outcry.
If they don't bring themeast they faced "Where is the Fallout in my Fallout game" outcry.

Not being able to win with a certain faction of the fans is liberating. They don't even have to try.

It's possible to acknowledge the flaws in all the games, user. Point is Fo2 was hardly some bastion of writing when the Enclave are arguably worse antagonists than The Master by quite a shot (essentially genocidal nazis rebranded compared to the warped soul who genuinely wanted to help the Wasteland in his own twisted way and even stops if you provide proof his plan will go nowhere).

Are you saying we should elect more Hitlers or shit can democracy?

No, haven't. I like the 1st person aspect of FONV. 2D games feel so slow and unintuitive. I guess they are worth giving another try..

>ghouls
>scorched
>mole miners
>super mutants

and more being added with each content update

Or
Ghouls are zombies, who needs food and water. *cough* necropolis
Super Mutants everywhere
T-51 is best power armor before war but so was T-60 and X-01. What do mean they weren't made for another 100 years.
Food still edible after 200 years
No new nations ever forming on the east coast some how? Not a single vault has established their own vault city on the east coast? Also rewriting what the GECK is and then forgetting about it in 4.
For a nation so huge, it's weird that animals are almost uniform across the games. It's like bethesda doesnt even know how to fucking make up new biomes. Deathclaws and Brahma everywhere!
Gotta love garbage loot lists where I can get caps, pipe weapons and jet in prewar caches or T-60/X-01 in prewar locations.

Then maybe, just maybe, make an actual sequel that's connected to world of previous games?
That would be smart, wouldn't it?

>RPG series failed so that means we should can RPG genre

New Vegas is good
3 is good
4 is good

They actually retconned T-60 in 76. T-51 is still pre-war (discounting the X-01 prototypes) best ingame stats. T-60 was a more easily mass produced variant in lore that was newer, but a bit less protection and cheaper to field.

You can copy paste from the 76 wiki all you want
However niggashill, shit is overwhelming fucking scorched. Yeah sure you'll see a frog but man gotta love scorched and more scorched. Oh a ghoul here and there with some nonsense super mutants but hmmmm scorched. I love dem scorched.

Wow! That's amazing Todd!

They did.

It can take awhile to get into it but I'm sure you'll find yourself hooked by the time you reach Junktown or the Hub. Failing that you could try out Kingdom Come: Deliverance or Deus Ex. I like both and they are first person.

Yes.
RTS went away because it couldn't sustain itself.
Same with old school RPGs. Sure there is a niche audience but it's track record suggests that is it's ceiling not its floor.

>People say that exploration is the best part of modern Fallouts
>I've yet to find any memorable location that was fun to explore
Not a single location in any of Fallouts was able to surpass SAD from 2 in terms of exploration. Everything from just getting inside of it to getting Skynet out of there was so much fun. It gave you the sense of true exploration, when you were uncovering secrets of the Pre-War world, like the cryo storage facility, or Skynet.
Yet modern Fallouts have none of that. all the locations in 3, NV, 4 and 76 are jsut generic "dungeons" filled with assigned monsters and random loot at the end. No sense of exploration. Just get in, shoot, loot, return.
So I want to ask. Why people keep insisting that it's fun to explore the world of 3, NV, 4 and 76, while it offers no actual exploration?

Attached: 1521254499817.jpg (480x337, 19K)

The worst part is alternate start mods fix everything, and the game that needed it the most was Fallout 4. If Bethesda added in alternate starts available after beating the main quest line they would be much more enjoyable.

Skyrim and NV both had alternate starts but I could never find them for Todd's fallouts

Attached: NCR.jpg (295x171, 8K)

Start Me Up for FO4 has existed for a couple years now user. Maybe actually try and look harder next time?

People just like picking a direction and going exploring to see what there is to see.

I did play Wasteland before starting Fallout. It was a hard game to play through but it has its moments.
fuck radiation tho

>Focusing on singular locations rather than the world as a whole
Neither Bethesda nor Obsidian came close to developing something on the same level as the SAD, the EPA facility (fuck you its canon) or the Glow but poking around through the ruins of DC has its charm. Moving from one subway station to the next and checking out the surface is more enjoyable than it deserves to be.

I hate how in Fallout 4 they changed the subways from being interconnected throughout the city into being generic Skyrim dungeons.

Yeah
I was expecting to go somewhere else and not hit a dead end within seconds of entering

It's almost like everyone has an actual character and isn't just black and white 'KILL AND ROB' or 'LET'S HELP THE POOR'. Also

>boone
>goody two-shoes

Attached: 1404789387379.jpg (177x278, 15K)

Yeah, loading screens aside I enjoyed DC far more than Boston. On the bright side the areas outside the city were far better in 4 than they were in 3.

Attached: Glowing Sea.png (1920x1080, 1.96M)

>I don't like the fanbase of a single player rpg so that means this one is better

Attached: 1459806872139.jpg (118x129, 9K)

I agree but I still think there should have been a follower who is an actual bad guy and distrusts you if you exhibit overt signs of altruism. There should be more benefits for being bad in NV.

Alright, thanks for the recommendations dude!

>Why people keep insisting that it's fun to explore the world of 3, NV, 4 and 76, while it offers no actual exploration?
most people never graduated from the
>put cylindrical object into round hole
stage of interactivity with instant material reward/pat on the back, exploration for the sake of lore is too boring for the norman

Attached: engaging game design.jpg (300x300, 9K)

There's already a good amount of benefits to being bad. Killing, robbing, threatening, and lying to people can net you a lot of shit. If anything, there's less benefit to being good. Sure factions like you and sometimes drop you a few supplies, but there's probably more to be had from being 'evil' to being 'good'.

That being said sure it would be nice to have more 'edgelord' options, like joining the Fiends or something to that nature. They definitely could have done more with that faction other than be '100% aggro raiders'.

Well I for one am absolutely blown away by the amount of quality and effort that went into the fallout franchise. So many memorable moments all throughout the series that really just makes it the best franchise ever. Tons of different places to go and things to do, it makes me dizzy just thinking about it. In fact, everyone on this board should go and buy Fallout right now because of how good it is! Don't even think about it, just go buy it! Because I, a fellow bystander who has absolutely no connection to any sort of game companies whatsoever, told you how good it is so that you will be swayed and buy all the Bethesda titles on your own volition.
Oh, and make sure to pick up another copy of Skyrim while you're at it, because I hear that that is also a good game in every way, shape, and/or form that requires absolutely no further investigation than the recommendation I am offering to you, my fellow gamers.

Attached: VYpIQ3x.jpg (1500x1714, 563K)

I agree with Rod here
Yea Forums should just turn off your brains and enjoy these really great games. Stop being critical cynicals

Playing F4 right now. Very pretty game, but basically the same gameplay as 3. Hate the voiced protag and the retard dialogue options. There don't seem to be any actual choices involved in any quests. Mods are great, and make thee game worth it. How do I become a master at settlement building?

Thing is being good also nets you the best Safehouse rewards. Going for good NCR/BoS peace nets you both of theirs which have together the Ranger sets, full T-51b and T-45 sets, a Gatling Laser, Minigun, Missile Launcher, and anything else in there. The only thing the Legion house has of note is a Luck+1 set of shades.

Far Harbor is the only good thing in 4
Also sim settlements

>josh sawyer: people really like being part of a group
>new vegas: can't join a single faction

Attached: smug.png (865x807, 821K)

What's your opinion on New Vegas? I hear it's the best of the bunch

HATE NEWSPAPERS

newspapers just like to stir up trouble

im sick of you faggots not giving any real criticism towards fallout.
typical console wars pissbabies

It may hard to fathom but some anons give no fucks about things you care a great deal about in video games.
Way of the world bubba.

Try Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, remember to use unofficial patch though.

>Taking a series seriously when the stories aren't complex or anything worth noting
>Taking a series seriously when the gameplay is unbalanced and most anons usually start with gameplay-related Fallout threads with their meta builds
This series is meant to be made fun of, and so are the people thinking some of the shit told in the games are big brained.
