if you play on vanilla 100 percent true. hes a better healer/paladin with sword on shield on a draconian run though

>forge legendary sword with your party
>it's just the same thing a erdrick had despite using greatsword for the entire game
made me a little mad desu

>Defeat legendary god-dragon in an 8-hour long marathon boss battle and get its token
>Trade it with other stuff for the super cool sword Gilgamesh himself wielded in battle against you, his only non-counterfeit sword in the game
>It's just the same thing a erdrick had despite using greatsword for the entire game
Made me a little glad desu

isn’t this guy the new super smashers character?

What about the dual-wield meme

depends on who. its a meme on serena, but makes erik the undeniable best party member for dps

As somebody who platinumed the game i can confirm, GS > Sword + Board, and it also > Double Sword.

my point is that forging the sword was a big moment in the story, and it would've been a little be better if I had the option to get a sword that fir my playstyle

mordegon drops his, and it looks cooler

I played draconian and was GS all game. The only fight i lost to was the post-game colloseum town boss, but that was mostly because i was underleveled. I think i may have died to the true final boss once or twice aswell, but i think i was trying to use dual swords then, honestly can't remember.

I actually started this recently. Can you fuck yourself over for not following certain builds? Is there a way to reset it later? Currently I have,

Hero with Greatsword
Erik dual-wield daggers
Serena wands
Veronica staves
Jade claws
Rab staves

I kind of want to give Serena a spear for meme purposes but I don't know if it will strongly affect her healing or not.

i was wondering how dual-wield was on MC but answered my question

>it fucking breaks
another reason to hate act 3

you can always reset your skill points at a church just know it'll cost a bit

>but I don't know if it will strongly affect her healing or not.
It will.

yes, you can reset skill points later, but no matter what all of your fighters will end up missing at least one skill unless you grind the fuck out of some endgame stages. anyway
>good
>good, but he does even better with dual swords
>good
>good
>give her a lance instead
>good

I've had this game on PC a long time but still havent played it. Should I wait for the Switch version since it will have extra content, or just play it anyway?

Also, how much more will I enjoy the game if I play older DQ games? A lot of people are pushing that idea and I'm not sure if it's worth listening to.

I'm 50 hours in and haven't played since last year, should I restart?

do it faggot

Imagine being this much of an indecisive faggot who needs others to tell him what to do.

I'd argue and say GS was more useful for the trials even at Draconian because of the ridiculous amount of damage you can output with one buff.

just fuckin Nike (do it)

in my headcanon the brilliant blade is the dqxi's designated weapon. fuck that gay old sword of light

Attached: bb.jpg (339x176, 17K)

Where is the demo at? Give me the demo already!

Bought for PS4. My copy should arrive tomorrow.
Any tips?
Haven't played any DQ games before.

Activate all Draconian trials

>shypox
no thank you

I played with super strong monsters on and I had Serena using a spear for trash mobs, but would switch her to wand+shield for boss battles. You definitely want to maximize her survivability and healing power in tough battles.

so im not the only one ..... anyone else only give erik boomerangs ?

>anyone else only give erik boomerangs ?
pretty sure this is one of the optimal builds. give him a pair of hunters moons and you're sorted.

I played the whole game with sword+shield, but then again Eleven wasn't my main hitter anyway, Erik was.

I used Sword and Shield all the way like a real hero.

If you play with draconian challenges turned on, DO NOT turn on anything in combination with stronger monsters. Stronger Monsters alone is more difficult than all the other challenges combined.

wrong sword and shield is how real heroes role

>playing on easy mode
No thanks

>>good, but he does even better with dual swords
No, victimize exists for a reason.

is this game shit like DQ8 and makes you commit to certain weapons?

Nah, you can reset as many times as you want to try whatever build you feel like.

theres no commitment

>try not to grind until later on. becomes very easy with a few tricks
>don't bother seriously collecting mini-medals until later on. becomes very easy to find/earn them
>focus on keeping items that replenish mp, not hp. spells are everything
>try to rework your items constantly. you'll get a lot more use out them that way

why would you tell him that when he's only on his first playthrough

good.

We can all agree this game is top 5 best of all time right?

Ignore this faggot Just active super strong enemies and less exp from fights otherwise the game is an actual joke. Only activate the rest if you want even more of a challenge, but just those 2 make the game fairly challenging without being obnoxious.

Ya seeth lil man?

big dick dps and block rate +

>lil man
Project more cuckold who has to ask other people if he should do things and if he will enjoy them.

>Switch version has an extra one where everyone in your party has shypox
Hell on fucking earth I tell you

Of Dragon Quest games sure. It's better than DQ8 personally but I always had issues with DQ8.

Nah it's top 5 games of all time.

Greatsword is significantly better for most of the game, but in late game Sword and Shield surpasses it.
You can freely respec if I remember right, so no reason not to swap builds lategame.

>so no reason not to swap builds lategame.
GS looks better, only reason you need.

>GS looks better
They look absolutely cartoonish and way too big for a skinny little twink like 11 to be running around with them

Just can't wait until the Switch version. Might just play it in 2D mode the whole way through. Since I played the PC version in 3D.

Absolutely gotten to

>Jade will never ever kick my ass
It's not fair bros.

Imagine complaining about realism in a jrpg

>Hero with Greatsword
In the end, Hero with dual swords is actually the best DPS due to Blade of Ultimate Power and the extra 10% hit. Greatsword is still good for groups though.
>Erik dual-wield dagger
Dual dagger is best with setup, yes.
>Serena wands
Not much choice here honestly. She's not cut out for offence unless you're metal farming
>Veronica staves
Not much choice here either. Whips suck.
>Jade claws
I personally just used her for spears, Multi-feet, Harvest Moon and the Pink Typhoon AoE. I remember seeing her claw skills looking really good but didn't bother in the end.
>Rab staves
Not much choice here either

As for the last party member, dual swords with him. Gryfalcon Slash is ridiculous.

I need to be her pet so badly

Dragon Quest is usually alright when it comes to these sorts of things.

Also it doesn't look stupid when a bigger character like Hendrik uses a GS

I dualwielded swords of light when I played. Made swift strike really fun.

Is the Switch ver out yet?

no, it comes out next month

>In the end, Hero with dual swords is actually the best DPS due to Blade of Ultimate Power and the extra 10% hit. Greatsword is still good for groups though.
Not worth it imo. Hero strength isn't his damage output, several other party members are better damage dealers, it's the combination of being a good damage dealer, tank and healer.
Also Swords are much better for AoE, Greatswords are better for single target damage.

>ctrl+f "sylv"

Pro tip: he's the best character in combat in lategame.
Hint: Ladies First
He's also a great character overall

Can you "master" all the abilities in the game like in VIII where you could get the Skill Seeds from the Dragon Lord?

I made Hendrik an Axe guy so nobody in my party uses the great sword

Attached: 742120_20181007123104_1.png (1920x1080, 3.21M)

yeah no

Attached: won't take no for an answer.jpg (1024x576, 75K)

>hated him at first
>grew to like him midway through
Based nips doing gay propaganda right.

I went with dual wielding because I expected to get 8 falcon slashes with 2 falcon blades and I was very disappointed. Still used 2swords for the rest of the game though.

>Gets stupid sexy vamp transformation
>Uses fist weapons AND spears
>Has fit tiddies and a long pony
Was hard to play not hard to entire game

>Has very hairy pussy and anus

Jade is perfection

Sorry, mean FAT tiddies and long pony tail

Based

Oh no! Jade needs to pee and there's no restrooms nearby, what will you do? Hurry user, she can't hold it for too long!

Well first you need to play IV to understand the significance of the Green Boys. V isn't mandatory but it makes a certain side quest hit a lot harder if you have, also it's a fantastic game anyways (though to play V you have to understand the importance of family which means talking to your parents every now and then, YMMV). Bandana Joe is a character straight out of VIII, but you don't really need to play it to like him. You can skip I-III, they're bad games and completely irrelevant to XI.

I am going to play this game in english and there is nothing you can do to stop me

no way dude. i played through the game first time on draconian and i was trying to stick to sword and board for a long time since i like the aesthetic. but when i respecced to gs... jesus christ. made the game 10x easier. hero has insane dps. two dps two support works for most hard encounters but for the really hard bosses i just had hero and three support and still had enough damage to plow through everything

Claws actually give Rab a shitton of evasion, plus useful moves like the buff removing attack. Better than staves when you aren't actually casting spells that turn.

Yeah, you can grind skill seeds but they only give 1 point and not 3 each so it would take a while
At 99 every character only needs like 6-20 extra points though

almost all draconian trials are memes except for stronger monsters which is basically mandatory for an enjoyable and challenging run. it's not just more health and damage either, bosses have new moves and different strategies. it's way way better. i also turned on no fleeing from battle and no grinding lower lv monsters but neither did much.

No grinding + harder monsters does make a few bosses way harder
I'm not sure how they expected you to deal with the scorpion bastard in the desert without everyone starting the fight Pepped

tell her to go in the bushes

Yes, I did the same thing. I restarted and ended up enjoying the beginning a lot more since it felt familiar and campy. Made me want to continue and finish the game.

Tell her to go piss in the woods or something and catch up later. She's just a bench warmer anyways, its not like I'd need her in battle.

This is correct but
>III is bad
Don't you dare diss III you cock monger, even if IV is the best of the NES games, it still holds up fine.

i thought he was shit but then learned how to use him. best support tank in the game
