How's Planescape? I asked a few months ago what's the most freewill rpg in existence and they suggested it.
bump
How do i into this game? I find it so odd. Im a low level druid and even have a hard time to kill one mob. I need npcs to tank for me while I range attack with my bow. Every spell is only usable once or something before resting which requires enemies to not be nearby. I dunno, but everything seems to be user unfriendly here and counter-intuitive. I'm not familiar with D&D, but have played wrpg and some jrpgs.
Is there an easier class to begin with or can anyone give a lowbie a quick guide for druid?
Kill yourself.
I want to FUCK Aribeth!
>tfw met Aribeth's VA in person
>tfw her VA is the same as mai waifu Konata from Lucky Star
The vanilla module is very hostile towards casters. You're really gonna' feel it in the prison district, and oh God when you get to the end of that district. Good luck, my dude. Invest in a good scimitar or something as well. A +1 weapon will be insanely expensive but oh so worth it.
Druids are op in nwn, however for the first you man want to play something sillier like fighter, although if you wanna play caster i can recommend you cleric. Just google blood and faith v2 cleric, put difficulty on hardcore and you will be alright, heavy armor+scimitar/longsword, tower shield. Once you get to lvl 6 spells like harm you can literally get down any creature, even the mightiest dragons in the game to 1 hp from like 700 with just 1 spell and then kill it with the next hit, but you can also kill them manually since cleric has access to a lot of buffs
A Dance With Rogues is still the gold standard in terms of mods adding story content.
>How do i into this game?
By skipping straight to Shadows of Undrentide (and then taking the same character to HotU). The base campaign is absolutely not worth playing, very thin on the story, lots of copypasted dungeons.
The story is really that bad? I might roll another character to do this.
Its not freewill, but very well written. A classic game and really something special. Think of it from the "games as art" perspective. Its modern game equivalent would probably be KOTOR 2.
Yes im another poster and i also think vanilla module is trash and a waste.
Yes, the base campaign was mostly build to showcase the modding capabilities of the engine. If you take it at face value it's easily BioWare's mostly simplistic and worst game.
Just play SoU -> HotU then delve into the dozens of user created modules, here's a good list:
lilura1.blogspot.com
>mfw Rogues in NWN
I swear to god designers hated the class with fervor.
>everything of note is immune to sneak attacks and crits
>nothing worthwhile in locked chests and you can bash them anyway
>you can power through most traps, and if you can't best henchman is a rogue
Seriously, you're just a gimped fighter at the end.
thats why you just go fighter/rogue. all those extra skill points help out combined with fighter's feats. and the sneak attack does come in handy more often than you're insinuating
OC is more of a proof of concept what Bioware could make with their engine. People shit on NWN2's OC, but that was just archetypal as fuck. NWN1's OC is unbearable and same shit copied for multiple acts in a different setting.
Assassin was a pretty bad prestige class also
>transparent dialogue window tucked in some corner of the screen
dropped this game several minutes in, kinda shows what kind of """RPG""" it is
anyone else fucking hated prestige classes in general? not just in this game, but as a concept?
>have fun figuring out your character and changing direction as you understand more about the class
OR
>lay out your entire progression, possibly up to epic levels, because you need it to get prestige classes despite not knowing much about the system
Youre not missing out.
When people praise NWN1 they praise the online community, modules and to some extent expansion.
Yes they require metagaming which is bad design.
Rogues are hard to design content exclusively for. That's what Thief games are for.
Arcane Archer was worth it though. Crazy OP and really fun to play.
If planning a bit ahead is so hard for you then just play Skyrim lmao you brain dead casual faggot. Try fucking Path of Exile, now that's meta for you.
Pretty sure it's widely considered one of the worst classes of all
It isn't.
It is
Its not hard, it just requires metagaming. Theyre bad for a first playthrough.
If youre an intelligent oerson you can analyze and discuss design without having to make it a personal challenge. Thats if youre intelligent, though.
>martial stuck auto attacking
>caster have to rest constantly because the games are filled with trash mobs
I have diamond edition and for some reason I can't change refresh rate value from 60hz. Any workarounds?
Buy the EE on Steam.
It worked before I reinstalled windows.
Deekin is best bro
Story = 6/10
Shadows of Undrentide = 8/10
Hordes of the Underdark = 9/10
The Valsharess is my waifu.
She has a really nice voice.
Ahem, FUCK Irongron and FUCK trannies!
>I swear to god designers hated the class with fervor.
As they should. Fuck rogues.
They Finally added achievements to the pc version lads
>mfw they STILL haven't updated all the models
>Valsharess offers herself to you
>can accept to take her up on the offer and betray the good drow
>Mephistopheles ruins everything
>mfw
Deekin is a bro
I actually did that, it's a shame she thinks you were in cahoots with Mephistopheles, forcing the game to kick you back into the 'right' path.

>8:05
had to rewatch it
Yeah, it sucks. If the game didn't let me turn Aribeth into a sex slave I'd be really mad.
At least you don't have to choose if you're handsome enough.
Alright faggots, I'm starved for a good RPG but I've literally played everything notable so I'm scouring the NWN vault and I've realized that I've slept on the Aielund Saga for over 10 years
Is it worth it?
Keep in mind I dropped a heavily modded BGT run because I couldn't handle the shitty voice acting and maximum autism """"immersion"""" like Candlekeep Chores
>Keep in mind I dropped a heavily modded BGT run because I couldn't handle the shitty voice acting and maximum autism """"immersion"""" like Candlekeep Chores
>dropping Baldur's Gate
>because of a completely unskippable tutorial
>and voice acting which is limited to a few lines
Yeah, Aielund is good, especially part 3.
No you dumb nigger I'm talking about the section from the Check the Bodies mod where you have a flashback in Irenicus' dungeon where you relive childhood memories like changing the bedsheets of every single fucking bed in the library and milking cows for 20 IRL minutes along with the shitty voice acting of some Italian turboautist voicing Drizzt in the Reign of Terror mod
My favourite thing to do in NWN is build crafting NWN1 is much better than NWN 2 because of all the extra features.
My favourite builds are gish builds RDD/Sorc/Paladin and Fighter/WM/Wizard.
These builds can clear any campaign.
Did you play Swordflight? It is a bit better.
Why the fuck did you install that sort of shitty fanmade content then?
I play NWN with CE making it run at 1.5 times speed.
You should too.
You should check out a dance with rogues module,if you don't mind a bit of sexual content including rape
>sexual content including rape
Go on..
>dance with rogues
Adwr is SHIT instead of being a badass you're some stupid slut who is an idiot for the whole story and whores herself out.
Very gay recommendation faggot.
>whores herself out.
Delicious
>brought kobolbro with me till the end of HouD
>final boss have a laugh "ahah, wtf a kobold bard srsly"
>tell bro "bro just believe in yourself"
>and then we won
Best moment ever.
>He doesn't have princes falling from Grace fetish
shit taste faggot
You start as a princess of an invaded kingdom and become a part of mafia
I love how Deekin is quite literally one of the most powerful beings in the Realms by the end of HotU but everyone still treats him like shit and presumably after the adventure, he is just a broke ass lute playing lizard
>falling from Grace
She was already a piece of shit for not killing herself as soon as she was raped.
That's just stupid, better live with it than fucking die, suicide is a cowards way out
>this fucking 100 year old game costs as much as a modern game
wtf
I always thought that picture was some promotional image for a new Species movie. Seriously she looks like she's being beamed up by an UFO.
>ADWR
>Killing that faggot assassin rapist in the drow gladiator pits
Best part in the whole game.
Just recently finished Shadows over Daggerfort premium module. Plays like BG1, highly recommend and probably better than Shadows of Undrentide.
Royalty aren't commoners. If they behave how a common person thinks then there is no difference between us and them.
Is the main character still a princess after becoming a prostitute thief?
No in blood only. She should have attempted to escape and then killed herself if that failed.
You dropped a game because of a mod
I remember when it was free. good module
Prostitution is optional,as is a lot of sex sciences, you can play as punished princess as well, also nobles are also just humans dude
Enhanced fixed like 500 or more bugs.
you could just uninstall your game after the rape. why dont you try to do some of the roleplaying?
NWN is the comfiest most nostalgic game for me. Playing Aieland saga or all the other modules is pure kino nostalga. PRC is a must for me so I can be a Hexblade.
If they are just humans then there is no fall from grace. There is no difference between her and a tavern wench.
You say play as a "punished princess" but in reality you're just a stupid whore.
>Roleplay as a stupid whore who gets tricked constantly and can't do anything right who everyone thinks is a total joke.
Um... Not really an enjoyable experience. Why play that slop when I can play Swordflight which is the best module series available to NWN.
>tfw i played this in a shit computer.
Best companion.
Bard best class.
Act 2 best part.
Is there a good module that turns deekin into a romancable female kobold?
>Adwr
>Swordfights
>Aeludin
Bastard of kosigan is best module series you faggots
To anyone who is entertaining the idea to play Neverwinter Nights 1: Think of it more of a ' Computer D&D Campaign creation tool' rather than a game, the base campaign the game comes with doesn't do any justice to the potential it has, it has some good moments but it's 20% of the content.
If you want to play have little patience/time, go straight for Shadows of Undretide and Hordes of the Underdark, then proceed with most of the famous modules, and finally go for the user created campaigns (Most of the porn is here, but there are some gems)
>not going full homo for the qt winged boi
Are you even trying?
Maybe I was into that the first time through and want to try something new
>Bastard of kosigan
>Start it up
>Janky ass english
>Story doesn't make sense
Go play swordflight kiddo. Part four just got released a few months ago.
I love me some cRPGs based on PnP system, wanna try NWN1 (Enhanced of course) is there any essential mods I should download for my first run? plugins or tools?
Fair enough.
Which is better for mods, the steam workshop or some website?
both
Also wanna know, but in my case I'm using a pirated GOG version so I don't really have a choice
All of them are good modules,I wish there were modern dnd games with customizable modules, nwn 2 never lived up to the first game in that regard sadly
as far as getting custom content goes, an incredibly low spec, low poly game is probably going to forever be the best option if you want any variety. modders are usually just hobbyists, not professional game developers and have their limitations. a fully modern game would have nothing for custom content like NWN, if given the same amount of time
Most of the steam modules are probably out there to download and dump on the game's folder, it's very old-style
any good magical sci fi modules out there?
Is there a good evil campaign module out there? I want to serve a Valsharess
You are right,I wish modern developers weren't so obsessed with graphics,at this rate we might never get anything like it ever again
>tfw no modules about the drow society
Yeah, shitton of modules go to underdark but not one of them is about drow ,they just happen to be late or midgame enemies
make one
even just jotting down ideas for one will give you good experience
Stop asking questions and play Planescape, now. Stop browsing, stop playing other games, drop everything and buy/pirate that game right now.
Infernal crown, blackguard , pillaging of Waycrest,a hunt through dark, there is more but these are the ones I can remember right now
Also tales of arttera ,you can play as eather good or evil but I remember evil path being fun
The only thing stopping Hordes from being godlike/10 is not enough Waterdeep and you couldn't bring any of the OC campaign companions with you after act 1
thanks a lot user
Barbarian is my favourite class yet it suffers from not-fighter syndrome so it gets fuck all for bonus feats. Fuck fighter and anyone who defends it
You're welcome user,have fun
>NWN
>Good design
The only reason people pretend to like NWN was because of the campaign editor allowing you to more or less recreating any module or other other games, same with 2, they're horrible fucking games with nonexistent balance, massive amount of jank and even more bugs.
And for most things, NWN did a much better job with classes than 2, even the absurdly awful OC in NWN1 is somehow better than the one in 2, which might as well be a poor attempt at a bog standard JRPG for little kids.
She was also Haruhi
I know what you mean. I prefer RPGs with fully voiced characters because I'm so sophisticated.
But best part of NWN always were custom modules and multiplayer,as for NWN2 mask of betrayer is pretty good
Yep, I tried to beat nwn2 twice to no avail, it's just too boring. And I don't want to start motb from a scratch.
If there's some creative part in humans exist somewhere in their brain or soul, I don't have it.
MoTB COULD have been pretty good if it wasn't short as fuck, even easier than the OC and railroaded as fuck.
At least that's something of an RPG though since you have a few choices that do matter and the story is admittedly much better, and I admit it tries to make the game a bit less broken at a core level, despite still keeping the nonexistent balance of the original to the point you have to actively refuse to use most of your characters to have any sort of challenge.
Okku alone is completely busted, I remember that back in the days I wanted to farm the Covenants' souls in the Skein for crafting the mask and I had to make Okku completely passive because he alone would two shot one of the covenant hags in barely a second, without buffs even, at some point in the second act I just plain up refused to take Okku with me and kept going with only Gann because the game was pretty much a movie with some dialogue inputs once in a while.
I heard it's better to pick all the npcs through console for extra dialogues.
Yeah, both games are pretty imbalanced ,you can easily became op and just curbstomp everything, for my first playthrough I didn't know shit about dnd I just picked cleric cause he was both fighter and caster ,and holy shit are clerics op in NWN
It's interesting how multiplayer goes completely over people's heads and they only judge a game by sp.
I remember one mp module with admins that enforced rules where you would need to have verified rp progression (like actual character reasons that you would play out), ending with a GM-guided custom quest, before you could take a prestige class.
All of that before level 5. Shitton of rp and slow progression.
Another module which had cities and towns with a coded legal system, where if you pickpocketed an npc, or broke into a house, and failed a stealth check, that npc would become a witness, call guards, and guards would run from their posts and try to arrest you. If you ran or resisted, you would accrue more criminal charges and your basically became an outlaw.
If they arrested you, youd be set in jail to await a trial.
Trials would be public and players could influence them (you could get people off the hook, or unjustly vote guilty).
The most severe punishment for crimes was a possible permadeath (more likely exiled)
You could bounty hunt other players who ran away from being arrested.
One gripe from me about multiplayer is that the class system is not very balanced for PvP interaction, social or combat.
Would like to see social checks implemented for pvp
Yeah, it is, especially depending on which ending you want for them.
I really didn't care much, the only companion I liked outside of Okku was Gann, so I mostly kept him around and the other companion related to the main quest of the day, affinity is also something that matters in what ending you get and it's very easy to manipulate so that you can park an NPC once you're done with them.
fair enough.
Multiplayer was amazing back in the day,but I understand why it's not mentioned anymore, all those servers are down
Not a mystery, most CRPGs are singleplayer and NWN games offered you four singleplayer campaigns(almost all of which are bad, with one or two that are just passable).
Most people do not play online, and to be fair, online play opens up another entirely different can of worms related to other people, even though that's not the games' fault.
What I find more interesting is how the latest Neverwinter game is a full MMO, and an extremely shitty one at that, seems there's really no hope for this franchise.
EE or normal version?
Wow totally forgot about the shit mmo.
I remember that NWN was marketed as a multiplayer game. They put so much design and effor into the custom module system.
Dungeons and Dragons Online was pretty good back in the day. Had the exact same character building as you'd expect, which made it fun to make a bunch of different types of characters.
>tfw making a jump focused halfling who could jump 50 feet into the air
Can't you wildshape? I remember playing a druid in NWN and not having a lot of trouble, and I feel like it was because I could just turn into a bear and plow through shit.
Dont druids get an animal companion?
Can you play custom content on the mobile version? Like mods and community modules
