Side effects differ based on the drug and the individual. I actually use elvanse (vyvanse), and it not only makes my penor huge, but it also totally destroys my appetite, gives me insomnia, and affects my mood. But my brother gets significantly less insomnia from it than I do.
I hate the high too, but my whole lifetime is one exercise in proving I can't do anything without it. I was only a couple of months short of 18 by the time of diagnosis, by which time I'd already made my teachers cry because they hadn't ever encountered someone who just wouldn't do work.

Take 15mg twice/day, I never feel anything I'd consider to really be a "high" from it. At most it makes the "adrenaline high" feeling - when I would actually get a burst of adrenaline regardless and feel the same thing, hit a bit harder but that's kind of about it.
But even that it's just a literal burst of energy. It doesn't make everything feel all fantastic and shit, it doesn't have that "euphoric" sensation. It just increases rate of heartbeat, gives me a compulsion to twitch my muscles(likely as a method of burning energy), makes the hyperfocus I already had about five times more intense and less likely to break and somehow makes it easier to sleep at night.
Also makes my tinnitus worse on higher doses.

And I've been at 20 on the same schedule, which my psych was actually concerned with prescribing to begin with because 40mg total/day is actually a fucking lot for someone at my weight.

Vyvanse would give a huge heart rate spike when it initially kicked in but that's really about it. I also experienced literally zero negative come-down on it. The worst thing it did was make it nearly impossible to sleep longer than 6 hours at a time.
Also Vyvanse is more "potent" per dose amount and is basically an improved Adderall XR. iirc a 10mg dose is equivalent at any one time as 15~mg/adderall IR at its peak.

That's not how drug testing is done user... You do random screening before and after competition. Including hours or a day after exactly like they do for cycling. Post-competition tests are even more important since you're going to focus your efforts on team/players that ranked high or won. You don't care much about testing losers who lost very early in a tournament. Exactly how they don't test the bottom 100 in the Tour de France as much as the étape winner.

Lot of large tournaments are held over several days giving plenty of room to perform proper drug testing.

"Things never done before" is kind of a bit of a simplification but it ends up being the same thing and basically always involves social interaction or, at the very minimum, a witness.

ADHD is definitely still apparent while an adult. Doctors are basically best described as bipolar in terms of how you'll be treated, though. There are some that will actually take you seriously and will go through all the steps involved(which will generally involve a lot of written feedback from your parents/people that dealt with you in childhood), or they'll think you're just seeking prescription pills and write off anything you try to say as being made up.
Either way, getting back onto a prescription for me was pretty easy/straightforward, but I was diagnosed as a kid and I exhibit a lot of physical signs of it, among other things.

Most of the people that I know who have tried drugs are leading perfectly normal lives. Drugs should certainly be approached with caution and some drugs are much more dangerous than others, but having an absolutist approach to them is really stupid. Drugs are neither good nor bad. They have the potential to be both depending on how exactly you approach them.

Pretty common, I'd think. Taking performance-enhancing drugs is common -doubly so when there's no actual restriction in a competition such as a gaming tournament- and a decent number of them probably got prescriptions as ADD-addled children anyway.
