Are gaming PCs a meme? I really can't tell. Advantages I see are better hardware, free online, cheaper games, and mods. The drawbacks are the vastly higher expense, smaller selection of games, and lack of killer app exclusives each console usually ends up with. What other factors are there?

what the hell is going on here?

>smaller selection of games
wtf are you talking about?
ur getting at least 8 gens worth of games + emulation
>higher expense
ur paying for internet twice on console ffs brother wtf WTF is this hsit

The main advantage to PCs is personalization. You can put as much money into it as you need to play the games you want.

As an example I built my PC as an emulator machine mostly. I couldn't give less of a shit about modern AAA games, so I used parts that could run PSX2 and Dolphin easily. Turns out I can also run other recent games that didn't work on my old toaster like Hollow Knight, which was a decent surprise.

There's plenty of console exclusive games that are of much higher quality.

Within legal limits:
Gaming on PC used to have the advantage before Valve realized the vast majority of their customers could not afford to drop Steam. GOG is a decent alternative, but it's extremely limited. At this point, playing on PC is really no better than a console.
Other means: PC offers access to emulation. However, its getting riskier due to Nintendo realizing they can monetize its vast library.

Good point, I'm looking at builds and mentally it's tough to stop from going as high tech as possible, even though there's not a single current AAA game I want to play.

kys stupid fedora tipper

Don't worry familia I got you, it appears to be someone praying to the Nintendo building

No it's not a meme. It's called the mustard race for a reason. Better looking games, backwards compatibility, discounts, refunds, free online, emulation, and etc. PC is all about options. Like having the option to play any game with any controller, having the option to use someone else's save, and such. Are you the kind of person that has all apple products? Are you the kind of person that doesn't know what to do when your iPhone storage is full and ends up calling the police to see if they can fix your phone? If so, then don't switch to pc. There will be problems. But if you don't mind troubleshooting, then it's objectively better.

Gaming PCs are honestly only worth it if you're really genuinely into video games. I love mine but I can understand why kids might not be so keen on it.

My only big gripe with pc's is stuff can sometimes just not work for more or less no reason. Beyond that they're pretty nice.

Get a mid range PC, the only games that actually take advantage of NASA hardware are things like EA games and other AAA shite, you really dont need it. Its the great lie of PC gaming, that you NEED to pay through the nose for entry, even mid range PCs are better than current gen consoles by a considerable margin.

Where is my option to play Horizon Zero Dawn

What's a midrange PC in your opinion? Something like pic related?

not him but that's a decent build, i think.
IDK because I only go for high end when I build a PC. The reason being because the main advantage is at the top end, otherwise it's a waste of time and money, IMO
I.M.O.

But this is where I go to watch Half-Life let's plays

It feels like the diminishing returns of a high end PC are extremely high, like a $3k PC from 2009 is just as much a worthless toaster as a $1k PC from 2009 at this point. I could be wrong though.

Name 5

I built a high end PC in 2005, it handles things much better than this windows 7 laptop with a core i3 vs a no core p4.
That being said, I try not to comment online about it too much because everyone today is all "price to performance" or your an idiot! It's like no man, I'm an adult who can afford a couple thousand once every 8 years on one of my main hobbies.
Tangent aside, do you bro. If you have a budget, stick to it.

But you are right tho, diminishing returns without question

I agree, if you've got the money why not. You're alright, user.

>Smaller selection of 3rd person action adventures
Oh shit nigga those amazing gaming experiences

I enjoy having a PC and I prefer it but I won't shit on console since I usually play that at my buddies place.

Basically, do whatever you want. Fuck what anyone else thinks.

>PC
>smaller selection of games
Are you genuinely retarded, my man?

It has by far the largest selection of titles of all platforms since everything released for computers since the 70s-80s is considered "PC" rather than be succeeded by something else with a different name every 6 years like consoles do.

thanks dude, take care.

Hell yeah bro that's what I say when I smear mud on my ass and fondle my sweaters

Thats a build that will run literally anything you throw at it, but even then you can get that stuff cheaper than that if you look around. Right off the bat SSDs are cheaper than that if you shop around, could also shop around for cheaper memory and a cheaper tower case. Remember, the case is literally just a box that hold the components, you really dont need anything fancy or even named brands.

>expensive
