I don't hate it, but I hate how insulated the story is, but I think a huge issue I have is more with how little gameplay there is. If the game let me do more and the third chapter wasn't a chase sequence and an on rails shooter followed by a lackluster boss I'd be more okay with it.

I thought 5 was fun. Snake eater was hyped up by everyone I know, but the song was the only good part of the whole fucking game.

MGS4 is my favorite MGS though.

Bioshock infinite intentionally includes shit that was trying to be precocious about vidya as art, like the girl singing a gospel version of fortunate son, the whole revolution thing, the racial bullshit, etc. The problem is that a 10 year old child could point it all out.

Some of the gunfights where you could jump around on the rails were fun, but holy shit fuck that one ghost boss you fight like 3 times.

I enjoyed this game alot. It was also my first real stealth game so i just played on normal or easy and gunned everything down. I skipped like 90 percent of the cutscenes and only watched the animated ones. It was a great ride, even tough i didnt understand most of it. Memorable parts were the old dude going trough the heatwave tunnel thing, the end fight offcourse. Music was nice too. Oh and dont forget that silver haird boy, he was cute af and that double fight when the camera gets split in half was pretty epic too.

To hell with hard mode, Octopus was a great ride, and that exposed-beauty-stalks-you-before-they-die thing only really works the first time. Mantis had some touches of the old Kojima fuckery and that was fun, while Wolf was a good tense fight if you didn't cheese it by sniping her from under a tank for an hour. Raven just sucked. Chapter 3 just sucked.

That's what I figured. So far the series has been fun, mgs 2 felt like a cinematic conspiracy theorists wet dream in Vidya form. I'm about 10 minutes into 3 and the intro was one of the coolest intros in Vidya, especially for a ps2 game.

About the only thing outright shit about MGSV is the way it handles its story and the time limits put on getting upgrades on top of some minor things. The gameplay is fine and you'll most likely get 50+ hours out of it if you do the side missions.

the first 3 chapters are amazing but after that the garnish wears off, the story takes a nosedive, the characters are less in depth, and the missions instantly drag on and have way too many shooting segments that last way too long

It's not a great game. It retroactively ruins most of the series' story, and is filled to the brim with filler bullshit. Snake handles very well, but there's no fun level design to facilitate fun infiltrating, just a bunch of barren camps that are sprinkled throughout 2 maps designed to be as realistic as possible, and thus not fun. MGS1-3 are like the perfect trilogy, stop after 3.
