Finally spend like 1000 dollars for a new phone to replace my nearly 5 year old one

>finally spend like 1000 dollars for a new phone to replace my nearly 5 year old one
>spend like 2 hours browsing the play store looking at games screenshots/trailers/reviews/etc
>end up finding emulators and now playing old 1990s games
Will phone games ever be good?

Attached: Screenshot_20190810-180335.png (1080x2160, 578K)

Probably not.

Define good.

Do yourself a favor.
Don't play in portrait mode, play in landscape and landscape only.
Your fingers will feel better.

Attached: Screenshot_20190806-002113.png (1280x720, 57K)

No. And its really disappointing because the technology is present to make good games on phones but jews keep trying to monetize every single aspect of these phone games. It was doomed from the start.

Good taste and good tip.

Chaos Rings series was legit good, but SE pulled the plug on them and you can't get them anymore.

This actually does seem much better. Any other tips? I've only emulated on PC before but this now handheld aspect is pretty nice. The buttons not being physical might take a bit to get used to o though.

Attached: Screenshot_20190810-181520.png (2160x1080, 911K)

I was going to do this with my phone but I have a psp, nds and 3ds. Only "play" idle clicker games like kittens game, cookie cliker and spaceplan and universal paperclips. Last two last one day, the other two have no ending, technically

Honestly you're better off just getting ports and ignoring any original titles. I'm still pissed that Jade Empire never got updated for the latest version of Android though.

Attached: 1231566468.jpg (3040x1440, 3.16M)

If you hate the blurry filter, try an integer scale setting if the emulator has it.

I think you can still get them on VITA and mod them into english.

Why settle for games from the 90s when you can play games from the 00s?

Attached: MJsi4kL.jpg (3040x1440, 1.48M)

>PSO BB on a phone
holy shit

The only good phone games are ports. And even then sometimes ports of old games get microtransactions shoved into them. I'm buying Dead Cells for my iOS when the port drops and that's the only recent game I see worth spending money on.

How does it run and I guess with the latest phones, what's the highest level of emulation you can achieve?

>no physical buttons
I can't do it

Dolphin is some straight up wizardry.
Gah, I'm so mad they haven't announced and android port.
I have a Galaxy S10+. It runs pretty fucking well. I haven't really tried to run the game at higher resolutions but it is VERY playable. For instance, here is 4 player Project M.

Attached: W6pr6Ds.jpg (3040x1440, 1.64M)

are attachments viable? And do you go for the gamepad or side buttons?

jrpgs are so comfy on phones/mobile consoles.

I can probably FINALLY play Baiten Kaitos. As well as Tales of Symphonia. I need to try this. The buttons seem insane though especially on a non physical screen.

PSP, DC, cube, Wii all have ran fine on android for a few years now. Even on middle level phones.

PS2 is the shitty one. Emulators for the PS2 have always been made like shit.

Why the fuck do people even bother getting new phones?
I bought my first smartphone on January 2 2017 it was a galaxy s7 flat screen version and to this day there is no phone out that justifies buying a new one.

And tactics games like FE, FFT, and Advanced Wars.

5 years is a long long time phonewise.

Even DS is good now with drastic. I can actually play most of the games at smooth 60 fps. Biggest problem is controls since the buttons are on the touchscreen making for huge conflicts.

Any controller attachments recommended? I need physical buttons

I used the same nokia dumbphone from 2005 until 6 months ago. I win.

and the fact that it is payware.

Get a controller clip for the xbone controller.

Any good free DS emus then?

Anyone else really hate those fucking mobile game ads that are like flashy words and half screenshots of the game that barely show shit and ALL of the ads are just like that.

Pathos
This War of Mine
Terraria
KOTOR

all play pretty well

Protip: Download Aptoide from Google and you can download a cracked Drastic apk from the app. Be sure to enable download from unknown sources in settings.

If you've got an Xbone/PS4 controller laying around, you can buy a clip to hold your phone off of Ebay or Amazon for like $8.

Attached: phone controller.jpg (1500x1500, 112K)

Some of the ones that are not free are ok and some of the games that have low ads and a premium mode to remove them are fine too. Every game that has some sort of ingame items/currency that can be purchased with real money is dog shit. Most of the good games on mobile are either ports/remakes/remasters or multi platform too.

There's a couple good games, but they all kinda flounder.

My favorite right now is Subterfuge, and it's a perfect example of the kind of games I wish we'd get more of on phones.
But the community for it is slowly dying, and matches are won out of sheer attrition now than any actual strategy. It's depressing as fuck.

Attached: 1453127252185.png (750x370, 269K)

What's the best emu on playstore right now?

There are always gems to find, but if you're not willing to find them, that's actually understandable. I think finding your own set of games outside of what is established makes phone gaming strangely more personal and unique of an experience, but I am admittedly pretty odd in that way.

Dolphin

Smart phones have planned obsolescence, 5 years is just about the limit for most.

>Baten Kaitos
Now there's an idea

Get a controller, ya big nerd. Then grab apks of Shovel Knight and AM2R off the internet.

Attached: 51h0-RfEGIL[1].jpg (500x500, 34K)

I've had my Stylo 2 for a while, and it's still going strong. But I also have been removing the Google junk and using f-droid for lighter programs, so that may be why. The biggest issue will be the OS eventually being programmed to be incompatible with it, which is awful. Good thing LegacyOS exists.

Also play ICEY.

Attached: ICEY.png (1080x1920, 2.04M)

Obligatory Night of the Full Moon shill post. It's a deck-building roguelite like Slay the Spire and it's actually quite good.

For emulation remember there's a special build of Dolphin for Android called MMJ you can find on the official forums, just google it. Improves performance significantly.

Honestly you should play those games on a bigger screen.

That isn't remotely true. Although ios does force updates on hardware that can't handle it, there is no 'plan' for the devices to die.

Don't underestimate the amount of effort it would take to guarantee a device to be outdated or not working after any set period of time. Most 2016 and 2017 devices are still perfectly fine today.

And that phone is only like 3 years old.

Well "planned" in that they just stop bothering to make OS updates compatible with older devices, which in turn breaks every other app.

>five years is just about the limit
>but these phones that are 2 or 3 years old are still fine?

Download PokeMMO if you like Pokemon anonkun. It's fun and there's a general on /vp/. 100% free as well

Flydigi Wee 2 is the best telescopic bluetooth controller I've tried but it failed on me after like 10 months. I've ordered a Gamevice now, but it's not in yet so I can't vouch for it. I'd avoid 8bitdo based on my experience, the joystick inputs lag all the time. I have a Beboncool controller tha I'm using until my Gamevice comes in, and I've been happy with it considering its price. D-Pad doesn't feel great and the joysticks max out like halfway through their travel distance, but you're compromising on something with portable controllers and it's fine for most games.

It's even worse when you go to the Play Store and that's all they have there, like they don't show you gameplay. I hate how trash this market is, there's so much potential.

That is also more ios than android.

Rarely does a newer os NOT work with everything. Sometimes it is about the app creator clicking "yes I want to support this new software version" and they never fucking do it.

I will never play games on a phone. do you hear me? never

What game?

I've had my phone since 2013 and I still haven't even considered getting a new one

If you like classic FF, then please play FF Dimensions. I don't even care if you pirate it. That game is legit good and no one talks about it. Don't get the sequel. The first one is the only one worth playing. I wish the game got a PC release so more people will play it. It's a damn shame that it's stuck on phones. It's the best FF game in years. Better than 15, although that's not saying much.

i can imagine playing unreal engine games with a controller.

but yeah, emulators are pretty much it. luckily ppsspp will run on anything

>1000$ phone
Why?

If only the GPD XD+ wasn't ~$200.
That device is easily the best Android-based game experience I've had. Even then telescopic controller I have now pales in comparison, though it's still very nifty.

Attached: GPDXD.jpg (1000x750, 219K)

My Android phone completely crapped out after about 5 years, half the apps literally didn't work anymore. Biggest loss was Venmo.

They design them to break down so you'll buy a new one. Most phones dont last more than 3-4 years. Also carrying something around in your pocket every day causes it to acquire damage over time even if you're very careful.

Top left game here is Shadowgun Legends, it's actually a pretty good timekiller. It's an fps and the missions are only a few minutes long so you can jump in and bang one out whenever. Can all be done co-op if you've got a buddy around. Has controller support and the touchscreen controls are pretty good too. Avoid multiplayer though, it's P2W.

Attached: Screenshot_20190810-204824_One UI Home.jpg (1263x1298, 306K)

just use a wireless controller

Is there any input lag for the buttons that are built in? Every time I use a bluetooth controller it feels like theres input lag.

Most smart phones are designed to quickly deteriorate after a couple of years of usage. Apple products especially. First, the battery will start to give out and you’ll find yourself charging three times a day. That’s just the beginning. If you keep using them you’ll find that the touchscreen loses sensitivity and the hardware starts to really struggle with new software updates.

It’s very fucking scummy.

SD3

Because jewgle

>Apple products especially
That's just BS, dude. One think iPhones have going for them over Android is the continued support for software updates.

Apple intentionally slows down older phones with OS updates.

>apple fanboy in denial over a universal truth of smartphones

user get help

Hypothetically smart phones could have good games, but any game that is good enough would also be released on PC and consoles to hit a wider market. And if you’re gonna do that anyway you may as well not release on smart phone because the average price of games on phones is much, much lower, so $20 for a game would be considered unreasonably expensive whereas it would be seen as cheap on a console.

The only good phone games are ports of good games from dedicated gaming systems like Ace Attorney. Everything else is trash that is usually designed with the intention of scamming you.

I'm actually pretty ignorant as far as emulation goes, as most of my games are ports and Android native stuff, which doesn't suffer from the input lag. But what I've heard is that the latency issue is something with Android itself, rather than the devices that use it. /vr/ folks call it Lagroid for a reason.

Don't have an iPhone and I never will. But I've worked with phones and consistently saw some pretty old iPhones still going strong.

I have exclusively owned iPhones and they always become unusable within about 3 years.

nothing you can do about batteries degrading except hope they are easily replaceable, which none of them are any more. pretty sure most phones are simply killed by dust/moisture, flexing and of course owners not knowing how to or not being able to run a custom os.

Download the Dreamcast port of Volgarr and play it on Redream, or a little BITCH.

Attached: 670[1].png (670x377, 241K)

Have any of my fellow boomers played Doom on mobile? How is it?

How do you know they’re pretty old? You can still buy new iPhone 6’s even now. The likelihood is that if an iPhone has been in use for over a few years the battery will be dying and the touch screen will be losing sensitivity.

Yeah, that’s why my jail broken 5s can’t even turn on. Dumbass.
iPhones are fine unless you’re the sort of person who freaks out that people other than Apple or google has access to your personal information. Which is a moot point because if you’re doing anything overly personal on a cell phone in current year, you’re retarded. Niggers have been using burner phones for 20 years, there’s no excuse.

>This game made for a portable device would catch a bigger audience on a stationary device while also competing with games with more detail.
This idea, while popular, is completely wrong. Picture related. Mobile games have to be designed in a way that they can be played with a touch screen properly.

Attached: GalaxyOnFire2.jpg (1600x900, 251K)

>spend like 2 hours browsing the play store
Thats the problem. The playstore is notoriously awful. You have to ask around communities or search youtube channels who focus on mobile games.

Any good tips there?

My Sony Ericsson phone from 2007 could hold a charge for 4 or 5 days without charging. My iPhone lasts about 15 hours (less with usage).

Are there any VNs playable on phones?

they also need to be fun to play for maybe 15 minutes at a time.

That's literally any phone.

Oh hey I have that same controller

More like unless you’re doing anything illegal. Who gives a shit if apple or google logs your porn history or other personal information unless you’re specifically looking up things that could get you put in jail.

What game is that?

Seiken Densetsu 3.

good for you. batteries degrading is a fact of life, until someone puts a LiFepol battery in one. but they're not as compact.

>120hz OLED screen
>Snapdragon 855+
>6000 mAh battery
>12GB RAM
>official joy-cons

I want it.

Attached: 96-rog-phone-2-03[1].jpg (800x491, 183K)

I use r/android gaming to ask questions and for recommendations and my sources are APK pure, QooApp, Konbakpao and youtubers like Scion Storm, Koolio and FG 3000.

You pretty much have to go out and look for sources because the google app store does not advertise the majority of games. You will always see the same "Editors Choice" garbage.

Anyone here plays Archero? How do you get gear in this game? They are so painfully rare there has to be a better way. I am stuck on chapter 4. The desert.

How much?

1k

Who here /s9chad/?

Just searched for these on Amazon, and the thought of a controller holding the phone instead of that awkward clip + controller seems pretty neat. Is it worth it though?

I wish this wasn't mobile, but it looks promising. We'll see.

Attached: Witcheye-1420x799.png (1420x799, 1.18M)

9+ here, glad to know I got the last good S-series before Samsung went full retard.

That's up to you, dawg. If you'll actually use it a lot I'd say so.

To be honest, I don't like playing anything on my phone, let alone my 3ds, lmao. Something about the potential of what it can do is so attractive to me that I'd consider it, but I'm thinking that I shouldn't get one.

>have galaxy s7
>ran shit pretty well when I got it
>hadnt played games on it for a couple years
>try it now
>all my emulators crash and the GTA games stutter like fuck

hmm

Sounds like you shouldn't then, desu. They're neat, but most people don't want to bother and it sounds like you're in that camp.

Cytus.
Million Onion Hotel.
Jelly no Puzzle.
Play this three, faggot, they're all fantastic.

The biggest barrier phone gaming is up against as it vies to be a legitimate gaming option is THE ABSOLUTE HORSE SHIT THAT IS TOUCH CONTROLS. Ever try to use a virtual d pad or analog with any degree of accuracy? Jesus christ...no chance. The only game I've been able to play on my phone without raising my blood pressure is turned based, and even then it's wasn't even really an iOS game, rather a port of FFTWoL.

Attached: 1565265420100.jpg (563x750, 92K)

>1grand for a fucking phone
>When a 70$ one can do basically the same

why are people throwing money away for candy crush, youtube and snes emulators?

Attached: 1552598648199.png (591x591, 324K)

Do paid emulators like Drastic ever go on sale?

>$70 phone
>Able to emulate ps1, dreamcast, gamecube, DS
Bullshit

how to correctly emulate ps1?
my fucking samsung always fucks up with the sd card and never runs it but will run ds and gba emulator

>Million Onion Hotel
Looks like Dandy Dungeon. Is it just Dandy Dungeon?

G3 here, still works fine

Nah.

It's not different than anything else, should work fine. Maybe you need a BIOS?

I still think it's incredibly stupid to waste 1k into a godamn phone that's built to break in 2 years and cannot be repaired easily.

done and done
it simply wont recognize the ISO and it would just get stuck after the ps1 logo loads

The market got flooded with free to play candy crush clones with overpriced micro-tranactions and action limiters

ePSXe?

yes on android 9

Have you tried multiple ISOs?

Both Evoland games are on the Play Store, haven't seen those mentioned yet. II especially is pretty good.

Attached: evoland_trailer_t_3346[1].jpg (300x250, 28K)

>emulating on a phone
What the fuck is wrong with you? How are displays like even acceptable with that user interface? Even though I'm a huge CRT autist, at least emulate on a PC or laptop for fuck sake.

Attached: 1437393127910.jpg (500x501, 73K)

I've owned 3 smartphones since 2012 and haven't broken any of them

Handle your own shit with care you fucking caveman

The mobile market doesn't want to pay for mobile games, and I can't blame them

yes, and they all say corrupt, i havent tried using the internal memory of the phone because i almost have none but my guess is my sd is fucked

ePSXe works off the SD card on my s7 so a dodgy SD card is possible

Dolphin poster here. I just use a hacked VITA for anything 5th gen or older if I'm on the go.

I always wonder why people forget that phones are a portable device. They keep mentioning PCs and consoles like you can stick one in your pocket. The best comparison would be a handheld like says.

Same creators, different gameplay.

Bullshit. Played plenty of games on handhelds for over an hour at a time. If the game is fun, people will want to keep playing it. Nothing about a handheld format necessitates short playtimes. Especially with saving and sleep mode

I seriously cannot believe that there are people on this board that actually supports these cancerous mobile phone games are you out of your fucking mind

I would understand if they were actually fun and had good gameplay but they don't they're below average compared to the most average console or PC game out there

And I'm saying this as a person that watches a lot of anime and generally enjoys the medium as well as having a waifu please someone explain to me.

Are just so many good actual fun games that you could be supporting instead of cancer shit like this and putting money towards

Attached: 1565360545485.jpg (1000x1000, 118K)

The point of threads like this is to find the good shit in the sea of garbage. Saying they're all bad no matter what is just smoothbrained prejudice.
