Only finished 1 route so far and halfway through BL route rn, but I feel like by the end of it all BE route will be the worst of them all by far. i just finished the chapter where you fight the guy who was actually the librarian, why cant byleth just rewind and grab him in the monastery, the game so far seems to be dropping the ball on trying to tie divine pulse outside of gameplay because everything feels like it could be solved if you just rewind, it worked on the prologue so why dont they use it more

I heard for some you can get the paralogue but if you haven't recruited the character you may not get certain rewards like certain characters' sacred weapons.

Only post-timeskip paralogues need both characters to be recruited which makes sense since those characters typically wouldn't be at the monastery otherwise

Pre-timeskip you just need one of the characters. Post-timeskip you need both characters and be on one of the correct routes.

The kids just get crippled. I think some of the characters actually die post timeskip.

you are mercenary that ends up at an officer's training academy at a monastery and you are offered a job as a professor for reasons. choose of the 3 student houses to be your students, train them, eventually there is a 5 year timeskip where you're gone for reasons, and you come back and the 3 houses are no longer students competing at school, but 3 nations at war.

Based on the marketing, I thought the houses would have a lot more interaction pre-timeskip. They even tease it by having edelgard in a trailer saying "we should all meet back here in 5 years", then cutting to the future to the house leaders talking before battle. I would've cared more about killing the other house students if they were involved in the missions. For example, why not have other house students show up as backup in fights, or have special events at the monastery where your class interacts with other houses more?

I've been seeing similar numbers maybe it is because I only played on normal and classic but I tried doing everything like every mission, every paralogue I unlocked, every student I either was able to pair them up with who I desired with the exception of one pairing which couldn't be paired together, got A+ professor level, etc. Maybe I was going too fast but I felt like I was doing so much.
I literally barely talk to NPCs everytime they update only leisurely. If I remember right I was just doing a shit ton of exploring, got the highest bracer rank possible so had to do all the bullshit, etc. Mainly dicking around and trying to make sure every character had the best possible orbment line-up.

I think the issue is how much they tried to make optional. It feels clear to me they probably intended for more interaction between houses or at least Byleth between the leaders, but for some reason they wanted to give more options while not having that as an option at all. Maybe the paralogues you can do with non-house members was supposed to do that, but I feel more integration between them would've been better. I wonder if they will do another game where characters are in different teams again or if next game will be just one big cast.
Didn't take one and have no saves to go back but all I can provide is someone else's screenshot granted they went with the church route

That would've been kino. Put the Battle of Eagle & Lion in middle of Part 1. So that each mission you're swapping houses for the month. By time of BE&L you gotta choose a house to stay with for the year. That way you can build at least a C+ relationship with the leaders to get to know them a bit better.

How is the game on handheld mode if I keep it plugged in with a stand? Going to college in two weeks and don't have a monitor to plug it into.

My only REAL problem is the monastery is a needless drag post timeskip. Should not be part of the game after the timeskip.

I play about half and half docked vs handheld, it's mostly fine but the text size is pretty small in handheld. Battery life is pretty good, I usually get about 2 to 2 1-2 hours on 3h

There is no canon. Playing one route means you don't learn half the story. You don't learn shit about the world, real villains, Rhea,etc on BL path.

College is the easiest time in the world to make friends though. Almost everyone else will be looking for some.

You know what would've been funny? Let byleth use the divine pulse in conversations. Most people probably want to see both conversation outcomes based on their choices/pick the right one for support points, and that would be a cute little way of letting the player do that. And imagine the scene where sothis goes off on byleth for abusing his time powers for such menial purposes

It's not as bad as you think. In fact, it makes the gameplay and story a lot more enjoyable because you can just focus on what you want to do.
>10 activity points, meaning you can easily max out supports, work on your own skills, etc
>Maxed out activity points means your students will always be 100% motivated, so you can do whatever you want with them pretty easily
>You don't have to do any quests or w/e since you're already set for the most part
I'm playing gold deer on a ng+ file, it's a lot more fun with all of the customization options. And it's still decently difficult because I just skip the sunday battles

Byleth seems to not be able to use it, otherwise he would have used it to prevent manny things e.g getting hit by Thales or either preventing dimitri from being stabbed by the loli or save rodrigue

This, Fates was obnoxious enough because unless you got the expensive version you have to buy shit individually where only the Conquest route felt fully realized and Bloodlines felt meh and Revelations was shit. Here we have all pretty good to great routes where there is more chance to interact with characters in other factions, but the story is so segmented off certain writing portions make no sense without knowledge of certain characters and other factions requiring a playthrough of all 4 factions where each feels slightly incomplete as a result.

How hard is it to get back to A+ professor level in NG+ so I can recruit as many students as I want?

It costs 500 renown per rank, and you get like 3000-4000 just for beating the game. Just save a little bit and you'll be fine.

Also, when you do start a new file, immediately go and do the dining hall quest and you'll get a free professor rank up from E to E+, THEN go buy your A+ rank back. Saves you 500 pts right there.
