Mathematically unlikely.
You've got a lot of shit in the wrong order.
Leave this thread, you fucking nipple idiot retard.
Morrowind combat not the rage face.
Leave now and never come back.
Yes it is going to be Hammerfell/Wakanda.
Git gud.
I can picture it now. Only 2 dialogue options, 3 slots for armor and capital cities with 6 buildings and 9 NPCs. Maybe also consolidate skills so they're just 'magic' 'stealth' and 'combat'
possibly but I doubt it, they won't be on a retarded tight schedule like they were for say skyrim as far as I know and they know full well the elder scrolls series is the true money maker, they can't fuck it up or they kill the golden goose
Please be reminded this is the same company that shat out Fallout 76 less than a year ago
>online only
>pay for mods
Skyrim was ruining it, TESVI will be finding a way to make a profit off a graphics engine and brand.
>morrowind not the worst combat
>morrowind and skyrim world desing being on the same level
>morrowind side quests being as good as the main quest
>Skyrim was ruining it
How? Skyrim was pretty much a strict upgrade from Oblivion.
>le oblivion has good music and side quests meme
let's be honest here, skyrim EASILY had much better music.
I honestly can't even think of what any of the skyrim music sounds like, yet i'll always remember that jaunty overworld theme from oblivion
Why are people so perplexed by Dice Rolls? Learn to build your character or dont play rpgs, mongo. Oblivion sucks the most for getting more tedious as you level
>Please be reminded this is the same company that shat out Fallout 76 less than a year ago
yes but as I said the fallout series is bethesda's redheaded stepchild where they feel like they can fuck around a lot
whereas the TES series is like FIFA for EA, you simply can't afford to fuck it up that badly
>dumbing down mechanics is a strict upgrade
>having godawful, barebones quests is a strict upgrade
>just have these slightly better graphics and kill everything in one hit with the new iStat system!
>whoa epic!!! FUS ROH DAH xD
Ah, so you're who they're going to make money from.
t. deaf
Of course they're gonna ruin it.
The effort to dumb down everything that made previous TES games great must continue to appease the retarded c*nsole audience that becomes more stupid every year.
Skyrim's music, world design, and combat are significantly better than the other games.
>remove attributes
>remove leveling up upon resting
>remove spellmaking
>worse music
>strict upgrade
>Implying anything beyond morrowind was any good
Oblivion's level up messages were lovely. Wish they would have come back in some form for TES V
Of course. But as long as they provide proper mod tools, i don't care much.
I never had any trouble building a good character in Morrowind because I'm not retarded, I just don't think having dice rolls in combat when the game is played in first person and in real time is good game design.
Oblivion can atleast be fixed by lowering the difficulty but Morrowind will always have shitty combat.
That's the problem how do you not git gud in Morrowind.
It is easy street once you get past the brutal start.
>skyrim
>okay combat
At least Oblivion and Morrowind allowed you to cast spells with weapons in hand, all Skyrim did was gimp the combat and add shitty cinematic kills.
>Skyrim magic lets you have a spell in each hand
>can't even combine effects via dualcasting, or use a spell in one hand, bow in other for arcane archery
I'm still fucking mad
>I just don't think having dice rolls in combat when the game is played in first person and in real time is good game design.
Why? Note that almost every "RPG" uses rng crit and damage ranges, why is not doing damage significantly different.
At least later games combat didn't have training wheels like Morrowind.
"Always use best attack" in a game with piss easy combat did you really need that? Why not just have a press X to win button.
Morrowind is a broken game though. You can have tens of thousands of gold and get the best gear within a few hours. Magic is broken too and so is alchemy. Pickpocketing never worked. The list goes on. Even with it’s flaws I like the game but morrofags are among the worst fanboys I ever encountered.
>I never played the game
It's a matter of how the game feels, it's not the same for my character to miss in Baldurs Gate or Dragon Age Origins because I know the combat is more abstract when the camera is farther away from the action.
But in Morrowind you only control one character and if you play in first person it's weird to see your sword go through an enemy while doing nothing.
It's the same reason why everyone says not to play Stalker in a diffculty lower than the maximum one because in the lower difficulties your bullets randomly miss and it doesn't make the game feel good but I don't mind when bullets miss in XCOM for example.
Shit loot. Garbage dlc. Non memorable side quests
Judging by how those fucks at bethesda have fully become assholes, probably.
Morrowind had it as well
I'm tired of medieval RPG's, sorry.
Dragonborn was kino though.
It's almost the same messages as in Morrowind.
That said I do like the character building it creates, it doesn't take away your character's story or who they are but simply how they experience growth.
this is why games are so fucking bad now
this post right here
every fucking thing about it
Morrowind Combat Unfunt at start but fun to master and break
Oblivion meaningful kinda broken at times
skyrim like hitting each other with Styrofoam swords magic is like shooting silly string at people until they rag doll die
>level 33
>still hasn't maxed endurance
Not an argument
you not liking things isn't an argument either
there's no argument to be had. fucking retard
but that doesn't change the fact that mopes like you are the reason videogames have progressively gotten worse
oh absolutely, but the normies will love it nonetheless
DON'T YOU FUCKING JUDGE ME, JUDY.
Jarret still mad based Pete told him to fuck off.
Its gonna be theme park,
you will be mono railed through the first quest
Black guy will be the main quest giver
Dragon will attack a town on the first five minutes
Black guy gives you the key to Deadric Armor in the basment that lets you shoot the dragon down with a cojured deadric laser hell gun
You cant join any factions
Will have stuff you can buy on the official mod store note The stuff on the official mod store are stolen mods from the free site that when you run the free mod it crashes the game.
Whaaa why do people like things I don't - the post
Get fucked gramps the 90s aren't coming back
I already explained why I think certain elements don't belong in games with real time combat while also working in other kind of games but you're too much of a nigger to bother with stuff like reading or wrtiting a coherent post.
Kill yourself, you're the reason this board is garbage.
Now THIS is an argument
games in the 90s mostly sucked too.
you don't like it, you just think you do.
If its set in Hammerfell, sure it'll be ruined.
Oblivion
>Can use two-handed weapons or one-handeds with shield or bows and you can still cast magic with a separate key
>In fact Spellsword, Battlemage, Nightblade, Witch hunter and Crusader were starting classes designed on the usage of combat + magic/ Stealth + Magic
>Capacity to create your own spell to suit you
Skyrim
>can only dualcast or use one-handed weapons with magic
>dualcasting different magic does nothing, can't make own spells
>compared to Oblivion, nothing was added beside cutscenes kills
you're a retard who thinks that combat matters in a series where literally since the first game until the latest the ENTIRETY of the combat has consisted of pressing the left mouse button
you're too dumb to see that, if for example, you swing 10 times in morrowind, hit 5 and kill the enemy, that is functionally the same as swinging 10 times in oblivion or skyrim, hitting 10 times, and killing the enemy
you are too busy with the surface level aesthetics of the game to actually read into it. you will never even get why these games are good at all. go play super mario bros
Hey, just because they are darkies doesn't mean it will be bad.
Maybe you can become a pirate, or some shit.
its such a boring setting black guys larping as ottomans is boring as fuck
Morrowind definitely has the most braindead combat of the three. Just because there are some dicerolls doesn't mean it's complex or compelling.
Redguards already have a game and a half, the time for Bretons is now
It will be Bethesda.net exclusive and be built around micro transactions.
cities will be two buildings
all magic is under one school
all crafting is under one school
race choice is purely cosmetic
you become guild leader when you walk in the door due to main quest superpower
voiced protagonist with set background
settlement building
paid mods
day one dlc
retcons
As long as I am happy I am happy.
also to add, you literally cannot exercise your imagination in any way shape or form. you can't give the 2002 era programmers the benefit of the doubt and consider the fact the enemy might be dodging your attacks
that's too hard for you to do. if it isn't on screen, it can't possibly be real. if you can't see how that affects modern game design, you're even more retarded.
I love those types of messages in Morrowind and Oblivion
Also the one when you try to use the cowl of Nocturnal on a shrine
>The gods are not mocked! They require an honest heart, not one hidden behind a false face.
Stolen Mods
dont forget Fallout 4 stole the harbor mod.
ESO has already ruined the entire series, rather they come up with a new IP
A few years back, I got 50 hours into Skyrim then quit.
Should I reinstall and finish the game?
>you become guild leader when you walk in the door due to main quest superpower
In fact skip that, let's just make it so your character becomes the guild leader of every guilds the instant he comes out of the shitter in the morning
Bretons are CUNTS... fucking CUNTS...!
I hate Bretons, and I hope they go extinct as a species.
Damn... I get mad just THINKING about it (Bretons.)
JUST A QUICK REMINDER THAT WE STILL NEED TO WAIT FOR BETH TO MAKE THAT SPACE GAME NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT
Todd turns it into a war torn shithole.
Turns the Forebears into aloha snackbar terrorists and the Crown into We Wuz the faction.
Needs the Nords to to come in and fix the province.
Could be based.
Read my post again you black gorilla nigger.
I never said combat was main selling point of Morrowind, the entire point of my post was that it had shitty combat and just because the rest of the game is good it doesn't mean you should be happy with one aspect of the game being shit.
The game being old is irrelevant because there are plenty of old games with good combat and even the newer Elder Scrolls games fail at having a good combat system.
some BODY
Apart from the meme Dovahkiin theme, do you remember any other piece of music from Skyrim?
Oblivion's soundtrack was a little cheesy, but worked perfectly and were far more memorable than Morrowind's, even.
Bruh bruh console kids who started with morrowind or oblivion don't want that shit
it all depends on how buggy their next engine is. If they were smart they would make that a bigger focus on improving.
its gonna be always online
co op play
you will get a shard of some reality to shape the landscape and build your home and castle
your shards will be online and you can visit others
shards will be attacked by the forces of deadra
you can buy trees , castle parts, banners on the mod store
singe player story line will be four hours long
choice removed
will have cut scenes that your character can appear in
will go as opposite side of Morrowind and FO new vegas that it can go
i'm not reading your posts anymore. they're retarded. you can dislike the combat, but your original reason for stating why you disliked it is basically a corporate talking point now. you are who shitty games are being made for. if there's a shit game that takes zero chances, it's for you bud.
>their next engine
They already confirmed they're using Creation engine for both Starfield and TES6.
Buzzwords: the post
You never refuted any of my points and you keep repeating the same things, I'm going to have to exercise my imagination and pretend I actually had a conversation with an intelligent person.
"I have another contract for you, there's a prisoner in the Imperial Prison that someone wants dead. You'll earn a bonus if you make it look like a suicide.
Adding dice rolls in an action game doesn't work as you directly control whether the character hits, maybe if there was an animation for your character swinging the sword like shit, and not getting full extension on the screen then it would be acceptable
But taking player autonomy out of basic things like swinging your weapon and blocking hits is shit tier design in an action game
I thought I heard something about a new engine when it was announced at e3 but I guess I misremembered it. But I could of sworn that they were gonna be done with creation after fallout76
Vanilla or modded? Vanilla play through still shit. Modded is worth another try.
>it's weird to see your sword go through an enemy
It doesn't though. It's a clearly disconnected canned attack animation, even moreso than anything in oblivion or morrowind. You see your character swing, but that's really all.
>It's the same reason why everyone says not to play Stalker in a diffculty lower than the maximum one because in the lower difficulties your bullets randomly miss
user, stalker difficulties don't make the bullets miss, they just make every enemy such a bulletsponge that you can't tell when you're even hitting them. The shitty starting weapons are inaccurate on every difficulty. Also, STALKER is far less of an RPG than morrowind.
Honestly I think they should focus on giving characters abilities based on their attributes, like an agility character having the ability to leap or counter to dodge hits, it would give the player an incentive to not just run into an enemy and swing X times to kill.
But this is Bethesda we're talking about, next game with probably be dumbed down to the ground. A man can still dream I guess.
It's almost certainly going to have a bunch of microtransactions.
Would not surprise me if they try and curb modding in TES VI in order to encourage microtransaction purchases.
>Morrowind allowed you to cast spells with weapons in hand
Uh
I guess in Todd's eyes the dragon shouts took the place of being able to cast magic while having your hands filled.
Who thinks they will have the balls to follow fallout 4 and go voiced protagonist?
Reminds me of the level up messages you would get in those games as well. A small detail but I thought it really added some character to the games.
yeah hes probably remembering his modded playthrough cuz hes a big ol zoomie zoom
They did do that except it was based on the skill not attribute.
Yes you can, last character I played uses a double-handed axe and cast spells, I can do both without having to unequip my axe.
To be fair, Code Patch is so good that it's basically essential.
>world design of morrowind on the same level as skyrim
That'll be a yikes from me, son. Morrowind was still some high fantasy, none of that in the world design in Skyrim.
It will be the greatest game ever made
Save this post
hahahaha fucking idiot
Is buzzwords the new exit strategy when you are getting BTFO?
Not just you but I have seen it more often lately.
Not by a stretch. Oblivion is Jeremy Soule’s magnum opus.
I want another Daggerfall.
Oblivions UI design is one of my absolutely favorites, only Kingdom Come deliverance comes close. God fucking damnit why did Skyrim have to happen, why cant we have something good for once.
we
There are an abundance of poorly made ambitious games around.
Have at it.
>he thinks they will use a different engine
only if they make it unmoddable
>Better dialogue options
>Better, more engaging combat
>Bring back spellmaking
>Bigger world so you don't run into shit every minute
>fire Emil Pagliarulo
That's what they need to do but they won't
What if they make it about Akavir and the only races are Kamal, Ka Po' Tun, Tang Mo and Tsaesci?
And they make it all quasi-asian to appeal to Chinese market?
I am sure the waifufags will be mad but Bethesda would be fine.
>but Bethesda would be fine.
Do you think these sells of Elder Scrolls games are because people like vanilla?
Oblivion combat is better than Skyrim combat.
you barely hear the music in oblivion
and hearing the same exact track every time you're in combat gets really old
It's the kind of janky game you'd forgive technical issues after reading some lore or running through some thoughtful level design. It's like the devs put their all into every little detail they had power to control.
Can't help but commit to it after that.
All that apparent effort was absent from Oblivion save for the expansion pack, and Skyrim still has no redeeming factors. Generic medieval fantasy forests and dragons, and only enough dialogue to barely fill out a VA's timesheet. What a waste.
Honestly, how can they not?
>admit the last decade+ of design decisions have been riddled with mistakes despite being praised and making millions
>stop reusing assets which costs money and involves not being lazy
They have no incentive to do anything like this
Jeremy Soule’s magnum opus fucking sucks
Every available piece of data says yes.
What data?
Making millions try billions.
You barely hear the music in every TES game, but it's even worse in Skyrim, since when you do hear the music, it's only made of 2 or 3 tones over long periods of time, or just percussion
TES has always been bad.
Consoles not having access to them and being the largest part of the fanbase.
Todd Howard said in an interview prior to Fallout 4 only 6% of the playerbase used mods
Some have tried to use nexxus stats as a rebuttal but that shows more about the autism of the modding community than any level of popularity.
b-but The Dragonborn Comes
>no dual wielding
>horrible staggering
>uh oh you silly doofus, looks like your sword broke
I think it's pretty amazing that they have a die-hard fanbase that will buy any shit they make as long as it's moddable.
Are they really stupid enough to throw away those guaranteed sales to chase after the flighty mistress of general audiences?
Jesus that looks horrible, and these fags piss on Gothic lmao
Consoles.
Idiot.
>dual wielding
Maybe people would stop saying everything you post are buzzwords if you put some thought behind your posts and stopped behaving like a child who thinks someone got BTFO because they got bored of a conversation where the other person just says "nuh-uh you're wrong and I'm right"
Dual wielding was done poorly and is worse combat option than two handed or one handed and the shield.
Swords breaking during the combat makes sense, it was not done perfectly but they made a mistake when they scrapped the system completely instead of fixing it.
>horrible staggering
?
>uh oh you silly doofus, looks like your sword broke
???
game mechanics are bad now?
>Are they really stupid enough to throw away those guaranteed sales to chase after the flighty mistress of general audiences?
They've proved more than once that yes, they will.
>4 only 6% of the playerbase used mods
I believe that, TES and Fallout buyers are normie as fuck, they cannot be bothered with installing the mods. Hell even I have hundreds of hours in TES games and never bothered with them.
>since when you do hear the music, it's only made of 2 or 3 tones over long periods of time
it's mostly ambiance. Oblivion's music has literally become a meme associated with all the shit npc's. Skyrim's music is much more fitting for exploration.
youtu.be
Listen to this shit and tell me this is a downgrade
Have they proven it, or just danced with the idea?
iirc, their paid mods thing died hard and fast and haven't yet locked modding tools away.
Do you believe Fallout 76 is the future of their ES games?
It's a downgrade
It's a downgrade.
>iirc, their paid mods thing died hard and fast
Paid mods lived on through Creation Club.
>only 2 dialogue options
Yeah and they'll be presented as just 'good' or 'evil' with no indication of what will be said
This is a downgrade.
>?
clearly you don't remember fighting the clannfears
>game mechanics are bad now?
Weapon condition was handled horribly in oblivion
>have to carry around repair hammers that weigh a pound each, or pay some ugly fuck a billion gold pieces
no thanks
>billions buy fallout 3nv4
>billions buy oblv sky skyse skyvr skypc skynintendo skyconsole
>company makes 8 trillion dollars
>I hope this game is nothing like these absurdly successful and beloved games
el o el
More like
>Yes
>Goodbye
What caused clannfears to be so good at causing stagger, anyways?
>Dual wielding was done poorly and is worse combat option than two handed or one handed and the shield.
it was okay, you just have to really beef your character up and invest into the perks to make it work
I honestly believe you just suck at the game, all of those are good game mechanics and if you train the skills associated with them a bit, you won't even feel the trouble
This is the problem with modern players, they always think that if something doesn't go the way they want it's the game's fault, not lack of experience or skill
Their strength against your agility, and Clannfears have some pretty large base strength.
Downgrade.
Better music:
youtube.com
youtube.com
>duurr this greater variety of cleaner and more noticeable music is a big no no
nostalgiabrains everyone
the problem with skyrim's combat wasn't a functional one; that is to say, functionally it works. however, it is not a terribly engaging melee system with combos and dodges, etc. and it's not the greatest ranged combat in terms of its fluidity and tactile feel. so what it really needed was a comprehensive skill tree to grind through to make the game more and more fun as it went along. what we got was a terribly gimped tree with like fifteen spells and lame passive effects. i really hope they understand this, but I know it'll be the crucial failure of the next game. the world will be just find, and the story will be truncated and anticlimactic but fun for a good 60 hours. disappointing
Bethesda have the building meme on the brain now and I fully believe the leak that TESVI involves colonisation/rebuilding, so yeah, it will probably be shit. Until modders fix it at least.
yes it's the fault of the gamer and surely not a poorly designed and balanced enemy
so no argument, huh
Here's the REAL one
Bethesda games have been getting progressively worse until it got to such a point that not a single person on the entire internet tried to defend fallout 76.
Are people going to defend TES if it's equally bad?
What would it even take for the bethesda bubble to pop for good?
I can only speak to the XBox but the numbers for the mods there are closer to Todds statement than the Nexxus numbers.
The top three mods are console commands lite and after that there is a huge drop off.
Blame console key limits for this somewhat. You cant map loads of skills easily on a controller.
That's the thing mods don't have a huge impact on sales. It absolutely matters in longevity not so much sales.
Morrowind combat should be •-•
I want to give Oblivion :) world design but it doesn't deserve it.
Skyrim music was •-•
right because just saying it's a downgrade is such a good argument
>stand there and have stats be good combat
I wasn't even in that convo. I have just seen people respond to perfectly valid arguments with the buzzwords exit.
Yet ANOTHER incorrect faggot.
I hate you.
Yes, I hate you.
Grotesque faggot!
I never had trouble with clannfears... Will-o-wisps on the other hand... I used to think they were completely unfair, unbalanced, and used to feel cheated. Stat reduction seem like bullshit, until I made characters that trained alchemy, and magical skills. W-o-w suddenly became worthless
No, here's the ACTUAL REAL one
I will never understand why you would hand off your very first online multiplayer game to your B-team who only knows how to make mobile games and was specifically created to make mobile games
>Yet ANOTHER incorrect faggot.
>I hate you.
>Yes, I hate you.
>Grotesque faggot!
I cant remember any song from Skyrim thats not “Morrowind theme 3.0” but Oblivion has a lot of memorable themes
>no dual wielding
Skyrim has that and it`s bullshit.
>horrible staggering
Skyrim abuse that. It's ridiculous how easy it is to staggering enemies with magic. And let's not talk about using shields to do that since it's completely broken.
>uh oh you silly doofus, looks like your sword broke
That was not even so common.
The reason I say the fight was better (not much better or anything comparable to Dark Messiah) than the Skyrim match is for the following reasons.
1. Your fatigue matters: Performing attacks of any kind costs fatigue and if you don't have it, the damage you do is minor and by far. It is true that it can be improved, but that is something that was not done in Skyrim. In addition, having fatigue is important so that your character does not fall on the floor, something that can occur on some occasions because of poisons or spells that reduce that attribute. That can be a strategic advantage for you and your enemy. (By the way this also matters in other areas such as jumping or acrobatics.)
(This system thanks to mods improved and a lot in Skyrim; Vigor is a mod that proves it.)
Perhaps none of that exists in Skyrim except for strong attacks and perhaps for running.
2. Power attacks are more than that: When you make an attack loaded in some direction with enough skill, your character makes special attacks that affect enemies in different ways. An attack back can throw them to the ground, an attack to the sides can make their weapons fall to the ground, and also the forward attack allows you to paralyze the opponent.
It is true that all this works by means of a percentage of probability, but it is better than simply attacking forward like a fool in Skyrim, and that these attacks are of no importance since they all only cause damage to the enemy.
Some advantages can be obtained through perks in Skyrim, but many of them are not really a significant improvement, and for a game that is a sequel to this this is a shame.
did not you see Fallout 4?
lmao game only make 100+ million dollars in profit the first week, that poor bubble is gonna burst any moment now, LMAO!
Elder Scrolls games are shittier now for a different set of reasons. Fallout 3 and up were made entirely to be Bethesda's pay pig while they worked on Elderscrolls. Problem is Bethesda is also legitimately incompetent and lazy.
CONTINUE...
By the way, in Oblivion there is even an improvement with the swords reminiscent of GTA SAN ANDREAS.
In San Andreas CJ as he dominates a weapon he uses it better by changing his posture and shooting style, as well as improving his control with these. In Oblivion that does not happen much, but it does happen a little. When you make a strong forward attack with a sword, the attack consists of throwing you jumping, but when you master the sword the animation changes for a much safer to perform, and different, which really has weight in combat.
I could talk about magic and how this works best here too but you already understand the idea.
I DON'T SAY THAT IT'S PERFECT, I say that for his time and Bethesda game he did a pretty good job, but that Skyrim just didn't improve in the least. The combat in Skyrim feels more "REALISTIC" but it is not really better.
>In addition, having fatigue is important so that your character does not fall on the floor
youtube.com
it's not a question any more. it's confirmed to be on gamebryo, still.
upgrade:

NOW THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!
Also known as the music for running away.
Nigger you need to put away your axe and pull out the spell to cast. There is literally a ready spell button you faggot.
Don't cry, friend.
We're all incorrect about one thing.
That's the point, nobody likes the game yet it still sells like mad - that's called a bubble.
It's showing no signs of popping despite everything so I'm wondering how bad the games have to get before people just stop buying them
>implying it isn't
Plenty of people like the game. Nerds screaming bloody murder about everything on the internet != everyone.
Fuck off Todd. Fallout 4 and 76 too.
>uhm, you guys are just a vocal minority
>ignore that literally nobody has said anything positive about it, people love it :)
First week sales are irrelevant; those are people buying it off a prior decision to. The knock-on effect from letting down those fans hits the next game down the line.
Oblivion remastered when
based and 76pilled
I agree first week is irrelevant, they have sold several times as much by now. And I can only imagine how much microtransaction money they made on top of it. wew.
Yes because Vikangz and Romunz are very creative, indeed.
Come on now there's no need to get violent
>level 99+
>on the way to whiterun to turn in a quest
>dragon music starts playing
>burly choir men chanting
>I just want to turn this shit in goddammit
>walk to town
>dragon is there, being annoying
>can't be arsed
>get to the castle
>turn in that stupid sword quest that's been in my journal forever
>leave
>dragon music still playing
>everyone is dead or incapacitated
>world now has a lot less going on
>feels emptier
>reload save
>that fucking dragon music restarts again
>ground and kill it in 2 shots
>music stops
>mind-numbing exploration drone starts
>don't feel like playing anymore
Fuck the dragons in general. But especially fuck the music that tried to make it seem more epic than a nagging, flying lizard.
They didn't sell that much, going off the ps4 trophy thing the game sold less than 500k total on the ps4, so being very optimistic about it no more than 1.5 mil total across all platforms.
Compare that with F4's 15 million and now you see the problem
I hope someone's made a mod for Morrowind so that cliff racers always trigger the Skyrim dragon theme
Surprised theres no picture of a crying Wojak in a Viking helmet with a Pepe dragon flying overhead with the "you cannot fast travel with enemies nearby" popup in the corner.
>things that never happened
Yeah nobody wanted a survival lite game they wanted Fallout with friends.
It would take too much effort for even me to produce cancer of that magnitude.
lmao no, they sold 1.4 last year. They have had so many sales and updates since then. Cope all you want, but they made bank even on this shitty game. And the dev cost was probably minimal as fuck. Same engine, graphics, etc and basically did what modders have already done for free.
Oh im gonna add, just to twist the knife. It sold around 1.4 in the same timeframe of BFV which had similar numbers at 1.9, also a supposedly universally hated game... BFV is now at 7.3 mil, L M A O
I only played skyrim, it was a good exploration game, pretty shit in everything else, honestly bethesda is already dead and I won't buy anything they make if I have to use their bastard launcher.
For posting sonic cringe I'm sure you deserve it and the rest of us are willing to endure it for your suffering
Staggerong your oppenents with dual wield magic in skyrim pretty much breaks the game
Then maybe you should staggeright them
>staggeright
Oh fuck you, Skyrim’s music is easily on par with morrowind if not better
Skyrim is the best game in the series yet and Elder Scrolls 6 will be even better.
Go suck cock boomers because I couldn't be happier with where they are talking Elder Scrolls and you losers bitching ain't going to change anything they do.
realistically, it's just gunna be Skyrim 2.
they'll literally copy-paste the same fucking game engine and assets from Skyrim just like Fallout 3, Fallout NV and Fallout 4 were literally the same game but with different colored instagram filters over the screen.
The worst thing is that its been 8 years and they probably haven't even started development. If they go for early 2020s release it will be rushed to shit

In addition to how shitty dragons are, there's dragonrend. The shout that the main quest makes you use an elder scroll to time travel for, the shout meant to strike the fear of mortality into dragons, the shout that seems like it should make flying dragons faceplant into the ground. It just gently encourages flying dragons to land and usually wears off right after they do. Sometimes it wears off before they even land and so they never do. God DAMN do shouts suck.
hopefully TES6 brings back the series' soul, skyrim was a soulless piece of shit
yeah got something to say?
>bethesda will get inon zur to do the soundtrack instead of jeremy soule
it's gonna be good for this reason alone, no more soundtrack that all sounds the same
Based on Bethesda's trajectory, ES6 will probably be the most patronizing, oversimplified game they'll have ever made—and all the Skyrim fans will moan about how hardcore Elder Scrolls used to be:
>these new kids don't know what it's like to not be able to fast travel between buildings
>remember how when you unlocked a skill, you couldn't undo it and had to wait another level to unlock the next?
>it felt way more satisfying when you didn't immediately become leader of a faction upon joining
>give me the good old days when you actually had to open chests instead of having everything in the room teleport into your inventory with a push of a button
>it was so much cooler when you could enchant weapons & armor with whatever you wanted, instead of 3 predetermined effects each
>remember illusion?
Last night, my wife and I had our neighbor, a very cute young woman, over for a threesome. After about an hour of fucking, we were ready to finish. My neighbor was 69ing with me and I had my legs back so my wife could eat my ass during. At the same time that I came, I let out an enormous fart right in my wife's face and little pieces of shit flew out. It was the best moment of my life.
>shitting on secunda
youtu.be
of course
>I liked it better when chose your dialogue, but I'll admit the cutscenes are well made
>Sneak attacks being instant kill is OP and the animations take way too long.
>Are we really supposed not to notice "Current Mood" is just the radio station system from Fallout?
>The Nord ult is ridiculously strong
>We could handle dying at 0 HP in the previous games, why do we need Last Stand now? It's looks silly with melee anyway
>no arena or daggerfall
Literally 3 notes over and over again over long periods of time as I claimed
Nerevar Rising is the best TES song.
It'll be pic related
I have a feeling the person who designed the UI spent way too much time in modern design class
I theorised that the success of Skyrim may have some credit to its bland and clean UI.
Its UI looks "mature" and not like a typical game which allowed normies to play it and not feel that embarrassed about it.
>brutal start
The start isn't even hard if you pick decent skills at the start of the game. Even on difficulty 100 I did the first couple of fighter guild quests at level 1.
lmao
It still won't have spears
Something tells me you love shaking large, foreign shafts in your hands.
>Some advantages can be obtained through perks in Skyrim, but many of them are not really a significant improvement, and for a game that is a sequel to this this is a shame.
nigger the perks you can get in skyrim change everything
you can charge with your shield, hit all enemies in front of you with a two handed weapon, and paralyze people with your bow.
>NOOOOOO i have to invest into perks for cool combat abilities!?
>It just gently encourages flying dragons to land and usually wears off right after they do. Sometimes it wears off before they even land and so they never do. God DAMN do shouts suck.
if your in a mountain area it makes technical sense that they can't immediately land somewhere because having a dragon ragdoll off of a cliff would be broken and you would complain anyway. 9/10 it works as it's supposed to. Shouts are cool.
Shouts are fuckin garbage, man.
That gay shit just gets in the way of my dagger thrusting.
You know what dragons shout when I shove a dagger in their throats?
I don't know, I don't speak dragon.
Does it matter if it sounds good?
Does oblivion not do this same thing?
youtu.be
they're going to shove black powder rifles into it and ruin the franchise for good
Devs probably envisioned some kind of shout crafting system where you had the syllabes and could combine them as you please creating different effects and types of shouts, in the same way they were talking about dual-wielding spells like it was going to leave so much room for creativity and shit
Both were a failure, just like most concepts in the game
The game will probably be fine. But they'll ruin the experience by having paid mods and shit like that. They might use an entirely new engine that modders aren't familiar with (or that's not easy to or possibly to mod) that will take the community a year to catch up to before it can be modded. Stuff like that. That's where they'll fuck it up
>Does it matter if it sounds good?
it doesn't sound bad, it's just forgivable and uninspired
>Does oblivion not do this same thing?
In your example, you can hear more than 6 or 7 notes in half the time, and on repetition you have some alterations... what is your point exactly?
>nipple idiot retard
This has to be the best thing ive ever read
Bro I can't wait for whatever bullshit game of thrones court intrigue rip-off they're going to do, so glad they didn't do anything that isn't non-descript high-fantasy. The real question is what gimmick are they going to do, or are they just going to do base building.
EPSTEIN (((SUICIDE)))
"With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created."
>it doesn't sound bad, it's just forgivable and uninspired
because the same guy made it? Because it's taking inspiration from previous games like oblivion?
>In your example, you can hear more than 6 or 7 notes in half the time, and on repetition you have some alterations... what is your point exactly?
My point is that oblivion is guilty of these same 'uninspired repetitions' yet skyrim is some awful downgrade for some reason
hmmmm so weird for him to commit suicide
surely there is nothing more to this
the clintons did it
I honestly feel bad for people who haven't played Skyrim VR.
>a spell in one hand, bow in other for arcane archery
Now thats some lore + gameplay synergy
>because the same guy made it?
what does that have to do with anything? if it's copying Oblivion, then it's a downgrade by your own words
>oblivion is guilty of these same 'uninspired repetitions'
how many times I have to tell you, Oblivion's soundtrack isn't repetitive, and you can see that in your own examples... do I really need to put it into numbers for you?
For a second, let's assume Skyrim and Oblivion's music is on the same level of "complexity". Being Skyrim the sequel, it has to improve on what's already established, and it doesn't
I do not think Skyrim's World Des ranks above Oblivion, namely because I can't think of one part in the game that isn't grey and white
The problem is without dice rolls for hit they just have damage lower but scale with weapon skill. I am more willing to believe that my sword swing can miss and that my skilled character is more likely to hit than I am to believe that my sword swing always hits but does fuck all damage unless my skill is high enough. Unless you're going full action game like Dark Souls you pretty much need some layer of abstraction, as in combat is never going to be a 1 to 1 representation of what's happening and you'll have to use your imagination, and I just prefer for that to come in the form of hit chances than damage fuckery
>I am more willing to believe that my sword swing can miss and that my skilled character is more likely to hit than I am to believe that my sword swing always hits but does fuck all damage unless my skill is high enough
b-but... that's how it works irl, you get more skilled with the weapon and the same movements, being more defined and precise, end up causing a lot more damage... hit chance isn't really a thing in real combat, I find it extemely hard to believe that you could miss touching the opponent with what looks like a wild direct strike to a foe directly in front of you not moving off the side or trying to dodge somehow
Archery was already too overpowered to ever let that happen
You do make a good point though, because being able to light your sword on fire and throw magic slash waves would be fucking badass
>give me the good old days when you actually had to open chests instead of having everything in the room teleport into your inventory with a push of a button
Auto-loot mods are the only reason I can tolerate bethesdacrap anymore. If TES 6 includes auto-loot, it will be one of the few positives the game has.
Do yourself a favor and get an autoloot mod next time you play bethesdacrap, it will save you from so much tedium.
>what does that have to do with anything? if it's copying Oblivion, then it's a downgrade by your own words
the music in skyrim is literally no better or worse than oblivion but it STILL has more tracks to listen too, and the fact that the same guy made it means a lot. Are you really going to act like he put less effort into skyrim than oblivion? I already know that he apparently put extra effort into oblivion at the time of it's development, but don't act like he put less effort into his work for skyrim, a game with more hype than oblivion.
>how many times I have to tell you, Oblivion's soundtrack isn't repetitive
neither is skyrim's but the soundtrack in it's entirety is easily superior and no amount of your nostalgiabrain whining can change that.
>HUUUURRRR IT SOUNDS REPETITIVE I SWEAR
fuck right off
>archery
>overpowered
the time it takes you to stealth archer a dungeon, a regular retard wielding a twohander will clear 3, and once you're out of stealth Archery has shit DPS and unlike melee it's easy to miss.
The only thing that would make me respect Bethsoft is if they returned to some kind of Daggerfall style game, but not as boring and awful
>implying skyrim's world design is anywhere near vvardenfell's unique and alien hellscape
In real life if I hit an unarmoured person in the face with a greatsword they are going to die no matter how skilled I am. In real life people don't stand there waiting for you to hit them, they dodge, so if I'm unskilled I probably won't hit a trained fighter in the face with a greatsword. Also "miss" can include deflecting from armour or whatever, that's how it works in D&D, although I probably wouldn't do that in a game like Elder Scrolls
nostalgia? what the fuck? ask anyone, anyone if they can remember any theme from Skyrim other than the main one, and maybe you would understand what I mean by "uninspired and boring". Denying that Skyrim's soundtrack is repetitive makes evident that you're a cocksucker, or maybe you just have a terrible ear.
Like it or not, Oblivion's music is better and I'm done replying to such a retard
This is somehow worse
>In real life if I hit an unarmoured person in the face with a greatsword they are going to die
this isn't 100% true... if you miss the edge on a side slash you could make a blunt hit, which wouldn't be as efficient. Regardless, you're taking it to an extreme just to be right. This was a comparison between hit/miss or x to y dmg
Sounds a lot more reasonable that way, since in Elder Scrolls' perspective, your enemy can dodge just by moving
>32x the detail
You know they will. They will fuck it up harder than Fallout 76.
DMC doesn't have a problem.
>since in Elder Scrolls' perspective, your enemy can dodge just by moving
But they don't though, that's what I was saying about abstraction. I'm pretty sure in Elder Scrolls you're supposed to use your imagination and not take what you see on screen as literal. If you do take what you see on screen as literal then it's fucking retarded. Enemies don't dodge, they sit there and slash at you repeatedly while you slash at them repeatedly. Me talking about hitting someone in the head with a greatsword isn't an extreme because that's what happens in Skyrim if you take what you see on screen as literal.
And sure damage scales with skill, ideally you would do both. I'm pretty sure that's what older games did. But since Skyrim ONLY scales damage it takes it too far to the point where it feels stupid.
In a prison ran by William Barr?
Riiight.
>200+ hours in skyrim
>honestly can't remember any music other than the dovakhin theme
>meanwhile I can remember many oblivion tracks from the top of my head and instantly recognize the rest
>some of the flute segments were so memorable they drive me insane
get it out of my head goddamit LEAVE ME TODD
>I'm pretty sure in Elder Scrolls you're supposed to use your imagination and not take what you see on screen as literal
well, you're wrong
Wow a shield.
>Arrows paralyze.
Same in Oblivion and yes that is bad. Why? Play Skyrim with mods and check Ordinator a perks mods, and look at the potential that is lost by investing in perks that give you things they could get by other means.
its been years since I saw these stick dudes reaction images
>claiming that skyrim had bad music
not bad, inferior
reminder that the elder scrolls OST has basically been the same since Morrowind and arguing about it is pointless
youtube.com
youtube.com

Probably, they always make clunky shit with bad game play that is only saved through mods. Only thing they can do that would be better is allow the game play/settings to be highly custom and easy to mod.
>one of the few songs that is rehashed for each game
is that the joke?
Name a comfier track.
youtube.com
Part of me thinks they aren't even going to make it.
Another part thinks of all the ways they could ruin it and really looking at Fallout 4, they could ruin it by making it like Fallout 4.
>Small "lived in" map
>Clunky shitty settlement building bullshit
>Shot reverse-shot voice acted dialogs with 4 button promps.
At the end of the day I think they are working on at best something on par with Skyrim and all of it's flaws, but with better graphics for all the mouth breathers.
the dialogue will probably be the same as fo4, I would imagine the engine will be very similar.
Anything without a voiced PC is better than one with a voiced PC.
>not making TES VI
Why not? I can't imagine why not. Every Bethesda game between TES games feel like warm ups for the real game.
soule is a hack, almost every explore track in nu-TES sounds identical
i unironically enjoy oblivion's combat, especially when using heavier weapons or upping your acrobatics. leaping around like a jungle cat and hearing the absolute fucking meathook swings in the air or the wet sound of slashing through somebody is always satisfying, landing clean headshots in archery or blasting people through the air with magic is fun also. i am not condoning level scaling or the increasing combat tedium though, that part is gay as fuck but at least it can be fixed with a mod
>company that worries more about the social politics of their company than making games
Gee, I wonder.
Heard any news from the other provinces?
It was ruined to begin with
i always find these images funny because i just know they're made by contrarian zoomers who think morrowind wasn't a massively popular entry level RPG for console shitters
>uhhh n-nobody can remember skyrim's soundtrack!
>it's uhhh... repetitive
>oblivion's is better because old good new bad
>you're simply too stupid to understand why it's superior, so i will not explain how it's in any way better
shut the fuck up you insufferable faggot
MORE tracks
MORE regionally based tracks
MORE iconic tracks
Jesus christ, it's like the polar opposite of the mudcrab gif
morrowind was on the xbox so i don't see how oblivion and skyrim being on consoles means anything
That image was made way before gen z had their balls drop. Morrowind was agreed to be dumbed down compared to Daggerfall but it still had the nuance to keep casual retards away.
A third of Daggerfalls skills were useless.
How do you get dumber than that?
you're being too specific. it was a cabal of the super rich.
>beating on some mook at a super high level
Of course it would be. The mud crab gif just shows how broken early morrowind, if you had played it zoom zoom.
Honestly with fallout 76 sucking this bad, they might have to try this time
it's inferior mate. more isn't better
Good thing games aren't real life, I don't get why people bring up realism when talking about gameplay mechanics.
It's like saying Quake would be better if you died when you tried to rocket jump because it's more realistic that way.
You know they'll never give that ability back even when shouts are gone, too
they've been phoning it in so hard for the past 10 years, surely Todd is tired of collecting checks and actually wants to release one more good game
>lore: the whole thing is a dream
yikes
Is this how devs test the waters on new features before release now? This is some guerrilla marketing shit forreal almost had me! Fuck you Todd I’m not buying ES6 till it’s $20 and I’ll mod it to hell and only play 10 minutes just like Skyrim
>testing the waters with good features
why would they do that? If anything, they'd test the waters with bad features to see how low they can go.
it isn't just more, each track is cleaner sounding and most have specific types of locations where they're heard
>cleaner sounding
how?
you actually notice it
oblivion's music is usually low and you'd have to really turn the volume up to hear it. But with the same 5 tracks it gets old fast.
you know Skyrim is the one with nordic ambientation and dragons, right?
based todd putting nostalgiafags in their place
I can appreciate Skyrim's soundtrack from an objective viewpoint, but I simply prefer Oblivion's soundtrack more. It may have less diversity in regards to unique locations, but the tracks are so good that I can forgive that.
It's the difference between being atmospheric music or more traditional ambient music, if that's the right way of saying it.
I'm an ambientfag, like I listen to ambient all the time while doing things and I prefer Oblivion's soundtrack. It's magical.
>Oblivion
>world design and lore
lmao
I didn't know Todd was the original KARA BOGA poster.
I don't understand how any RPG that's gone without a voiced protagonist can think it would be a good idea when you have two fleshed out examples of why it's a terrible idea. Fable and Fallout
Besides, Bethesda's too cheap to ask Paul Protag Onist to do two different readings, one with a "cat-like" accent that would be used for argonians and khajiit one for less furry races. Throw another sex in there and that's four different readings they'd have to pay for. Going by Oblivion we know the budget for VA only covers ~10 "who" actors and 2 non-whos. They'd have to double their VA budget if they wanted that.
>Yes
>Sarcastic
And they still gonna sell millions of copies
How big will the map be?
4x times the Skyrim size?
I'm hoping they'll make distances between locations bigger and put emphasis on traveling.
Reminder that the target audience at the moment isn't even console players that started with oblivion, it's the fucking zoomers who are only familiar with skyrim.
It won't even be an rpg anymore, let's be real.
Prediction time
Here's what I think the new game will be, I know that you guys value my opinion and that it matters, thank you. I love you all.
>Takes place either in High Rock or is split between High Rock and Hammerfell (both provinces are represented with several regions same as in Daggerfall)
>Most likely will have the same dialogue system as Skyrim. Although, some possibility they will carry on that shitty 4 answer thingie from Fallout 4
>Same amount of armour slots as in Skyrim, might add capes or belts.
>More types of weapons than in Skyrim, less than in Morrowind. Still no spears.
>No forced microtransactions, but will have Creation Club support.
>They will either cut dual-wielding or allow blocking whilst dual-wielding
>It will have more books than Skyrim
>It will have several means of transportation (boats, carts, etc.)
>You will be able to marry your companions
>M'Aiq The Liar will make an appearance again telling you why they didn't implement X and Y
>Character will be voiced
>Less skills, if not cut at all. Everything is reduced to perks per level.
I don't even think zoomers are familiar with skyrim anymore if we take into account fallout 4.
>I LOVE BETHESDA! FALLOUT 4 IS THE BEST
I think Fallout 4 brought even more people into bethesda's fold than skyrim at this point.
>brutal start
kys nigger
Pretty much, yeah. Yea Forums by and large likes to callback to Oblivion's OST as memorable but frankly I've put plenty of time into Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim and Morrowind's the only one that I can actually give a shit to remember and even go back and listen to. It might just be that I'm a fucking boomer and Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls game for the majority of these threads by now but I can't for the life of me recall any standout tracks.
>get to bandit camp
>kill all bandits
>this plays youtube.com
>mfw on the beginning
>You can have tens of thousands of gold and get the best gear within a few hours
I 100% doubt that there is any person who picked up Morrowind in 2002 for the first time and, without any help or guides, had tens of thousands of gold and the best gear in the game.
Also, Oblivion and Skyrim are just as broken. In Oblivion you can get a full suit of ebony armor and Umbra while standing on a pillar and shooting 1000 fireballs at her.
>Auriels Ascension
Probably my favorite TES song of all time. Oblivion is such a special thing to me and a lot of it is probably because of the soundtrack.
Still find From Past to Present more comfy but that is probably my favourite Oblivion track
All these clowns saying Morrowind combat is the worst there can't be anything worse than Skyrim's dumbed down endless punching bag dance-fights
newfag
Morrowind's combat feels underdeveloped
Oblivion's combat feels bland
Skyrim's combat feels heavy in a bad way
In a game that's more about character development around skills and items, out of the three, Oblivion is the most preferable
Rumours suggest it takes place entirely in Hammerfell, the major threat is Boethia and Sanguine teaming up.
Hammerfell is in active war against the Dominion and warding off an invasion by the Empire on the east front.
Dark Brotherhood, a mercenary company, thieves guild and an academy for battle mages are non-story factions.
Skyrims combat is nothing special but the finishing moves, dual wielding and some other features make it more bearable then other TES Games.
Granted Morrowinds combat isn't even that bad in all honesty, when I tried it for the first times I had no difficulty with it. Daggerfalls combat? Now that's absolute donkey shit
>Morrowind side quests
>Good
>more noticeable
If anything, skyrim's soundtrack is barely noticeable compared to oblivion or morrowind. literally the only track I even remotely remember is Sovngarde.
I find the finishing moves extremely annoying... they trigger so often in areas where I'm trying to avoid enemy fire or just keep going
Dual wielding is worthless, adds nothing for the offense and a shield is much more useful
Other features? like what? the only good one I recall is shield bashing
No matter how dumb down the game is, it will sell 20 millions, port to next gen consoles and get a special edition then a HD edition.
Ruin implies it had a possibility of being good.
the L M A O made you look like a desperate shill sorry.
Can you cite your sources for the BFV sales?
Oh dont forget microtransactions.
gameinformer.com
In Feb, so they sold even more by now. Last update I saw the conquest server numbers higher than Ive ever seen it before on PS4.
this literally needs a seperate section just for shivering isles since it blows everything else out of the water
You sure it's as significant as you think paid shill?
>4 combat being worse than 3 and 5
fuck off
This. Anyone who says otherwise is a contrarian cock-gobbling faggot
Ya im sure. Do i get paid by EA or Beth? Cause I was talking up F76 harder than BFV,
Dude the way your talking doesn't really gel well with how people usually talk on Yea Forums. Implying you aren't from around here and are probably a gaslighting shill.
everyone on Yea Forums is a faggot so im glad I dont sound like them
this
Morrowind's side quests are trash, it's just endless errands where most 90% of the time you have to go kill someone
The absolute core of the game is supposed to be the combat and this includes good physics and dynamic combat.
Literally only skyrim had a little bit of this and was still BTFO by dark messiah, oblivion and dark messiah came out the same year, yet still dark messiah has better combat than skyrim,
If ESVI doesnt imporove on the physics and dynamic combat, especially melee , this series is going to ONLY stay afloat because of story-telling,
Now mordhau and chiv 2 are coming out and ESVI will be using the same engine as oblviion and skyrim?
Yeah they are done for, only ES fanfrogs will let it slide
>you know Skyrim is the one with nordic ambientation and dragons
Wait it is? What game have I been playing where everything tries to fuck me in the ass?!
>Dual wielding
If they're going to fuck it up again, just make it DS3 style with one weapon that fills both slots. At least then we'll have the offhand weapon appear correctly on our character.
Ahahdahahahahaahahahahahahahahhgahhhhhgh
At least you feel like a member of your guild.
Yes, Mages need reagents. It sucks, but shit rolls downhill.
I always find it funny in Morrowind how helping that Khajiit reaching Journeyman in the mage guild bump your rank to Evoker (just above Journeyman) despite her taking all the credit for your work.
Morrowind combat is the ultimate plebfilter. People complaining about it don't understand the concept of rpg's.
If you only knew how good things really are. I can't wait to see your faces when you see the gameplay. Stay tuned bois.
the problem is really just how it's all represented th the player. there's nothing wrong with the combat if it was played by robots who don't get frustrated, but since it's played by people, having your sword woosh right through an enemy kinda blows. one easy fix to this would have been to replace dodging with "glancing blows" so that you always hit, but if you roll a bad attack then you only deal 1/3 of the normal damage and it plays like a *cling* sound as if the sword is bouncing off the enemy's armor or weapon.
The guildmaster knows.
But lol, never noticed that.
>Dude the way your talking doesn't really gel well with how people usually talk on Yea Forums
It's because they usually hire third-worlders to shill on the internet
I feel like Beth should take notes from Vermintide. Those games have amazingly satisfying feedback for hitting enemies.
>be in morrowind
>this guy slaps u gf ass
>wat do Yea Forums
This bait would work much better if Todd himself didn't explicitly state that TES VI is the backburner project at the moment and Starfield is what they are working full-time on.
I know it sounds bad, but TESVI can have the shitties combat system and still sell millions and be highly praised by media and buyer's alike.
Just look at Witcher 3. Can someone say that that had good combat? And yet, you know how it went.
Truth is, combat only needs to be serviceable if the rest delivers. The rest in terms of Elder Scrolls is mod support, customize me-toon, and a map with good locations.
Honestly, i think the major flaw of all these games are one thing: writing. You fix the writing and like 79.83% of the issues we have with these games go away.
Should I write Todd and ask him not to make FO4 without guns?
But the writing in Skyrim was decent, if not good. Sure, most of the meat of the narrative was hidden to the average player who has not delved into the cosmology of the setting, but that's part and parcel for TES. Even to the uninitiated, Skyrim is still a moderately well executed cookie cutter fantasy story about a chosen one defeating a big bad dragon.
what a fag u are
what's there left to ruin?
I think the whole thalmor conflict and civil war is pretty well written, there's still threads arguing about it.
My prediction is that now that the combat in Elder Scrolls games is much better they can bring back all the attributes and nerdy shit to make the OG fans happy because the core elements are streamlined and gtg.
>But the writing in Skyrim was decent, if not good
Not really no. The books are fine, Bethesda has always been good with the storytelling through asset positioning in the world. That stuff i agree is fine.
But writing involves how you write the characters, how they convey their ideas, the quest writing, the dialogues, how blunt stuff connect with one another.
And it's all serviceable at best. Just look at how Witcher dialogues play out, or another game i played recently, Kingdom Come, how the story naturally unfolds in that one. They are so above whatever Bethesda spits out int those games it's almost sad.
Just to be clear, i agree the books, letters, it's all a great read, but writing is more than that. It's the flow of the narrative.
>the concept of rpg's
I love Morrowind but you don't even know that concept yourself if you think dicerolls are part of a RPG
>Todd the liar
>not ruining everything he touches and lies about
TOP KEK
>be normalfag
>level up
>rush to discord and type "Ding!" in several of my favorite servers
>see a bunch of weird words and numbers
>get angry
skyrim 2 was alright but lol can't believe they tried to make me do math homework every time i level up >_> just put points into what looked like strength so i could hit harder
Thats too imaginative for the dumb fucks at bethesda. It will be django unchained 2.
Im pretty sure in 10 years these games will be on VR only no joke, literally the only thing missing from the VR melee games is the feeling of weight,
if you can add that its going to be 100x better than any other game like it
Witcher 3 combat is literally a million times better than skyrim.
It's not the diceroll but the fact that your skills affect if you hit or not.
I wasn't talking about in-game books. I was talking about things like pic related.
Stuff that gives the narrative a new perspective but is not readily apparent due to it needing a modicum of familiarity with the settings mythos and cosmology. Dawnguard and Dragonborn both have similar lore implications hidden in their narratives, too.
But you are talking about books, because that's where those lore hints are and also on the asset location i was referencing. Which i agreed it's the good aspects of the game.
Dark Messiah hasn't really even been surpassed today
I guess you could say that, but if the main narrative is made better by the books and worldbuilding if you pay attention to them, isn't that a kind of storytelling in its own right? A simple base narrative that is made deeper through the players own investigation.
Whether or not that is good or not is a matter of opinion, admittedly.
Didn't bethesda fire(or at least practically quarantine) the guy responsible for all this interesting lore?
If you are thinking about Kirkbride, he left on his own accord (afaik) after Knights of the Nine. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Todd consults him from time to time. Those two, and Kuhlmann, used to be the lore triumvirate. Then Todd got made into a poster boy and Kirkbride just left.
Kuhlmann still writes for Bethesda, but I think he has less control over the narrative than Emil Pagliarulo, who is the lead writer (and really bad at it).
Is Emil responsible for what has been going on in ESO?
He left after Morrowind and was contracted back for KotN (as well as some other stuff regarding Mankar Cameron). He's also responsible for some stuff in Skyrim regarding religion & the shouty guy in Whiterun (and general Nordic flavour from pocket guide).
Nah, ESO is handled by Zenimax Online which is an entirely different studio with different staff. ESO used to have Lawrence Schick as its lead writer who, while certainly not a bad writer, was not very good at handling the TES IP. I don't know who they have now since Schick left.
It was like that in Fable 3. The good Karma option always was on the A button and the bad one on the X button.
Wait, Todd used to write for their games? That's news to me.
And fart in people mouth.
For all the memeing, he is pretty involved, both for good and bad. The TES construction set was his idea and project, while the boring, standard fantasy world of Oblivion was because he was inspired by Jackson's LOTR movies
Yeah, and word is that he still writes things here and there. Rumor is that he wrote Cicero and had a big part in writing and designing the Dark Brotherhood quests in general.
>Todd design the dark brotherhood in skyrim
>it's objectively the best faction to join, lets you the possibility of destroying it and interacts with the thief guild making it feel more anchored within the setting
Thx Todd
wuz
And on the opposite end , Emil wrote the Thief Guild questline.
it's a shame todd is such a benevolent godly man that he can't bring himself to firing or even demoting emil, or any of his old other friends. most of bethesda's studios can be traced down to todd giving jobs to his incompetent friends, like pete hines and shit
fire emile and pete, and bring in Chris and Josh
Todd isn't in a position to fire or demote people though, is he? He's not a CEO or anything like that that can actually fire people, he's "just" a senior executive.
Not sure if Zenimax has given him the power to fire people, though. That is a thing they can do, after all.
Unless something's changed recently he should still be the one that puts together the teams for each game that the main Rockville branch does.
>for console shitters
Morrowind was only 1 console and sold less than 3 million copies
I'm sure he can still do that, but if there's no one else to pick for the role of lead writer other than Emil, he's gonna have to pick Emil and deal with his retardation if he does not have the privileges to sack people and replace them with new talent.
its because they fucked the pc market to chase the console market and it worked out so amazingly well i wouldnt be surprised if in the next game you're forced to use a controller.
lol why? curious to your thinking, they are the bland magic humans as opposed to generic magic elves
Ofcourse.
such a fucking good game holy shit why cant we get more of this
Can you explain to me how the fuck Oblivion's combat is worse than that of Morrowind and even worse than that of Skyrim - in your opinion? Because as far as things go, Oblivion had the best one, followed by Skyrim and then by Morrowind.
Ah yes, the famous Skyrim paralysis bow - when effect is applied before the arrow hit the target thus making sure that arrow misses the target and said target gets alerted and knows your location. That perk was the worst one.
>perks
>have to pick perks that do the same shit as normal skill progression did in a previous game
Perks in Skyrim dont change shit. They just allow you to do stuff that you would be able to do if they were not implemented.
>bethesda will get inon zur to do the soundtrack instead of jeremy soule
I hope to god not. The Fallout 4 OST sounds like fucking pixar superhero movie music
I bet it won't have spellmaking...
This shit was really popular back in 2011, before that infamous E3 and right after it.
>arena
>daggerfall
>for very smart people
They arent - the have even more flaws than Morrowind.
Can't explain, because I agree with you.
The sad thing is that Emil is actually really good at writing self-contained storylines and sidequests. It's just that he doesn't seem to have a good grasp of what it takes to write a large overarching storyline and incorporating themes into it.
didn't kirkbride also do some work for dragonborn?
How is combat not as bad in morrowind you stupid nostalgiafag?
Yes and no, they are going to use the same engine as skyrim's, so, moders could fix the game for them, but they will fuck that up because they will make the mods be an bethesda shit club exclusive.
You forgot:
>Don't use an engine that's legally allowed to buy alcohol.
I really want an end of the world Elder Scrolls.
I want a elder scrolls game with tits, vagina, and a baseball cap.
>black guys larping as ottomans is boring as fuck'
Oh that will be retconned out as fuck. If its in hammerfel, redguards will go full afro-fantasy to capitalize on the wakanda bucks.
>bethesda shit club
It is. They dont have anything worthy there.
I'm playing Morrowind at the moment and am not noticing that at all. Hlaalu had a bunch of interesting ones with multiple outcomes. I liked those Imperial Cult quests where you investigate the big donors, and then the oracle quests that led to those cool dungeons (something that seems to be surprisingly rare - that dungeon comparison pic that gets posted a lot is misleading since most I've found are small and similar looking). The non-faction side quests usually had some amusing premise like the naked nords throughout the wilderness, or established the personality of a settlement like the guy in Ald'ruhn that stiffed all the merchants or the Telvanni city with the "haunted" inn.
Currently level 17 and I still haven't gone back to Caius to properly start the main quest yet, and I've already had a ton of fun adventures. Not sure what you mean by 90% because in all that time I've barely had to kill anyone, but I'm running illusion/stealth/speech, so I'm working for those sorts of factions and taking peaceful options as much as possible. Factions aren't strictly linear, they've got several quests available at each hall and you only have to do like half of them, so you get some freedom to decide which jobs you want to take on or skip. The one big exception that felt out of place was the last thieves' guild quest. It really seemed like they were building up to something as you go through all that effort to secure your guild halls and bribe/blackmail the bad guy's underlings but then at the end it's just "yeah we tried all that and none of it worked so we just gotta kill him -- no wait YOU just gotta kill him." I even poked around looking for any other way, since several other Morrowind quests had things you could discover that weren't explicitly laid out in the journal/dialogue, but no such thing for this one. I haven't done the fighter's guild yet but given the circumstances I hope I'll get to learn more about that from the other side with my next character.
What a load of guarshit.
Funny you posted cat image. There is a nice drug cartel quest that involves a khajiit.
You were only a field assistant in the research project.
If you read her notes, she claims that she did all the work
What were the Hlalalalu quests with multiple outcomes?
I have been arguing Morrowind has choice and consequences but I haven't found much.It would be nice to have something throw back.
After the backlash and poor sales of fallout 76 I don't think they are going to go over the top with their scummy tactis (creation club will probably be it as far as in game currency goes), but I don't expect big innovations.
Most likely be skyrim 2.
Fucking felineniggers; literally all the fucking same.

Have sex with a daedra
One of the first ones you get in Balmora where you're told to go to rival's egg mine and kill the queen. She just gives you the directions on how to get there and doesn't even tell you who the rival is, but if you ask around in the closest town you can find the owner and he'll pay you double what she offered to leave his mine alone. You lose disposition with the questgiver if you do but it still finishes the quest and you can advance.
Once you get sponsored Uncle Crassius directs you to a new questgiver but mentions that he's suspicious of him. The new guy sends you on a series of unscrupulous quests. The quests can be done as directed, but they also each have some way to turn on him that might piss him off, but if you remembered what Crassius said and report to him for help he'll provide other solutions that won't get you in trouble with the new guy, and in the final one you can have him sent to prison. You get more rep and can advance further in House Hlaalu with fewer total quests completed (so you can skip more if you want) by taking those routes instead of the straightforward ones.
There were some others I don't remember the specifics of where you used speechcraft (or bribes because bribes are basically OP to the point of being cheating) to avoid killing people.
Then the final quest to become grandmaster where you need to deal with the Camonna Tong's leader (the duke's brother) which has strong influence in Hlaalu. You can kill him to weaken the gang, blackmail him with a letter you can find hidden in his basement, or persuade him with a high enough disposition to give you control of the Camonna Tong.
