So, Sony faced a dilemma:

Sony then took a third option: remove the risque content from the Senran Kagura games, allowing them to be sold while pleasing the AAA public. Some people are unhappy with it, but it was the best decision.

Neogaf is (or used to be) the biggest Sony internet community and always was very vocally opposed to fanservice games, especially everything made by Marvelous. It was just a matter of time before the big, expensive AAA projects suffered.
