Remove it. I've been in games where I was autobalanced at the very end of the match, only for 12 people to join mere seconds later at the start of the next round. There are always people queueing for a specific map at a specific time, and if there aren't, then matchmaking shouldn't even exist. Autobalance is the most unnecessary and broken system I've ever seen in a game, and matches are very rarely improved by autobalance. Autobalance's main problem is switching players at the end of a match, and this isn't an exception or an unusual occurence, it's the NORM. This is because when a game appears lost, people on the losing team are more likely to rage quit, which is what causes an imbalance, and in turn, causes a player from the winning team to be autobalanced. This is pants on head retarded, and indefensible. Any village idiot should be able to see the problem with this.

Fuck that random crit debate, who gives a shit.
But Autobalance?
FUCK AUTOBALANCE
And FUCK NIGGERS.

>Be medic
>Literally no one on team is dying
>They mowing down Red
>Ubers left and right
>Top of the chart for Blu
>On last point about to cap
>Solider gets a lucky crit rocket off and killes me
>Auto'd to Red

Truly an injustice that has never been matched

>they took it out at one point
>people screamed worse
>put it back in

Worst part is they used to have a good system for it were it would at first request you to join the other team and get a small amount of experience for it and if nobody did it, it would auto balance as a last result

As much as I hate autobalance to an even philosophical extent, I would be satisfied with this compromise. Sometimes, I kind of want to switch over and help carry the other team. Other times, I don't, like when we're pushing toward the last point.

>I need the game to tell me I won to have any fun
If the sole reason you played a 15 minute game was for the little dopamine buzz at the end then you're playing for the wrong reasons.

>not taking this as an opportunity to rape and spawncamp your former team as krit med
lmao at you kid

valve really needs to change when it decides to move people
mostly just DONT FUCKING MOVE PEOPLE IF ITS THE LAST 10-30 SECONDS OF A FUCKING ROUND
or if you do something like in this webm

Attached: ARE YOU.webm (1280x720, 2.97M)

true, but it's still a stupid system

>payload
>spy stabbing everything that moves with default watch and knife
>never stop moving, pick my moments perfectly, and use my gun to finish or scare off chasers
>always make sure to pick up ammo
>by the time the payload reaches the end I have more kills than either team combined and zero deaths
>autobalanced next round
>do the same thing for the team that just lost and win again
It'll forever be the highlight of my time playing TF2. The definition of pubstomping. I think it was just before or just after the robot update. That is also literally the ONLY time autobalance made the game more enjoyable for me after like 3k hours. I think after the robo update hit, autobalance started to get more and more severe, and the game just started getting frustrating to play. Stopped playing entirely shortly afterwards. At least I left it on a high note.

>valve really needs to change
You do realize this is a game that's now temporally closer to the release date of GoldenEye 007 than the present day, right?

>autobalancing soon
>sit in spawn
>wait for some fag to die and get balanced
>start playing again

>tfw playing on a server with a modded autobalance or some shit
>be medic, have a uber ready, about to push with my team
>right before I press it, suddenly die instantly
>thought maybe I got sniped or backstabbed
>server insta-killed me while I was alive to move me to the other team for autobalance

Never been so fucking mad at a game.

What I don't get is I played multiplayer shooters before TF2, and I swear I don't remember any of them feeling the game needed to have an auto-balance system (except counter-strike, which of course did it only between rounds).

By far Valve's biggest fuck up here is somehow managing to not have the game do an auto-balance right at the point a new round starts. Not only is that the one point in the game where auto-balance is most urgent precisely because a lot of players leave, it's also THE ONE POINT WHERE PEOPLE DON'T MIND GETTING AUTO-BALANCED SINCE IT'S A NEW ROUND.

Anytime some jagoff says, BUT AUTOBALANCE IS A NECESSARY EBIL I cringe my face off.

they are fun. They add to the quirkiness and unpredictability to the game that lets you turn tides. If you get a well placed random crit, you can save yourself or even decimate the whole team and if you die to a random crit, then you would have died anyway not so long anyway and you will respawn after some time.
imagine a random crit as a blessing of the god, letting you use your weapons more effectively than possible. It shows also that you dont yet have the permission to die.
i have managed to get out of many bad situations as a medic due to random crits
>be medic with ubersaw
>everyone died
>enemy heavy starts shooting me with a minigun
>manage to close in and land a crit
>one more slash lets me kill him
>have my uber charged because of it
>i use the uber and run to an allied demo, letting me live another day

I fucking hate Medics so much

Random crits are stupid shit and benefit a player that's already dominating due to how they're calculated

wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/5/5f/Medic_taunts14.wav

Have these retards at the TF2 team ever actually improved casual for the last couple of years? Do they even play their own game?

I was a full-health Heavy and a scout random-critted me from mid. You're wrong about "dying any way"

>Competitive update comes out
>""""Casual"""" servers are a thing
>can no longer spectate people you supect of cheating
>autobalance instantly kills you to fill a slot that would have been filled ten seconds later by matchmaking
>once you're autobalanced you're fucked as far as getting back on your team goes, hope you weren't playing with a friend

my favorite class is the spy

God, I fucking love getting two fucking Backscatter shots on fucking Heavytards and killing them as a Scout.

Fucking orgasmic.

Literally email Valve about this. They don’t know anything about what might be a problem because they don’t pay attention. TF2 is on a very low priority list so cry more and they’ll do something.

eat my wrench spy nigger

maybe if this was say Q3A, sure

but this isn't comp asshole, i can live with random shit like crits because if my TEAM is styling all over you SHITTY ASS FUCK FAGGOTS when YOU are getting 100% crits...

well, GET FUCKING GOOD

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN FUCKING MEAN!?

i played quake 3 for the last 20 years asshole
its old, who the FUCK cares?

Correct me if i'm wrong but aren't random crits not actually random but increasing their probability by how good you're doing? Doesn't that mean the only people crying about them are shitters that need to git gud?

Didnt they try something else though and it turned out to be even worse than autobalance?

>that engie whose sentry was destroyed ragequit
Every time I see this webm, I notice more and more aggravating details
I'd have quit if I were that Demo.

>people on the losing team are more likely to rage quit,
Sounds to me like you need to play games with bett communities.

I'm so tired of casual matchmaker and the braindead slugs that infest both teams. I look in the server list but all those people play are gimmick trash modes.

Bros... A long time ago I must have watched a tf2 video on youtube where some guy edited the gaben footage to say just "my favorite class is the spy. Thanks and have fun"
Would any of you anons happen to know the sauce? It's been driving me mad for a while now.

but why

Because it's bonkers.

someone disconnected, but as another user pointed it was a balance, not a scramble

I have heard that line in so many videos. Be more specific, otherwise a quick search on Google will help you.

Is that supposed to be the mutton mann?

this.
shouldn't be fucking autobalancing me when i'm still alive anyway.

I would be fine with it if we had the old valve servers, but as it stands, finding a place without server drama means matchmaking. And matchmaking means being locked into a team with no side switching, no map changes, having queue times, etc.

help me bros this contract is too hard

>kill people while blast jumping as a soldier

Attached: nervous.jpg (480x454, 43K)

wait a minute i just had an epiphany

does it count if i kill people while parachuting?

pretty sure it does, as long as you used a rocket jump to get up there.

Long as you do it from a rocket jump it counts. IIRC I did it with the Air Strike and parachute so maybe try that.

They are fun when YOU get them. They are anti-fun to get killed by. It is bad game design. Does "fun to play with and fun to play against" mean anything to you?

>Make a valiant push at the final point and destroy nearly the entire enemy team
>Victory is in my reach
>Auto balanced at the last second
you fags can shit on me all you want but this is why i exclusively play shitty 24/7 2fort servers with no cap limits

>get killed alongside two people by a crit
>oh well, whatever
they really are not much worse than dying normally

nah, it's pretty shitty when your streak is ended by one.
feels even worse when it wins them the game.

Crits are whatever. You get them and others get them.
Autobalance is pretty ass though

>They are anti-fun to get killed by. It is bad game design.
Take the game less seriously, nigger, the cardboard cows on 2fort should be your first clue.

Only the melee weapons should be able to crit

move on and get another streak, gamer. if you're godlike any loss of a streak is bad, but your streak can end from a sniper, a stray rocket, or even autobalance or a map change.

shit argument. kill yourself retard

I wasn't arguing with him, I was calling him a retard. "I don't have fun with it, bad game design" isn't a line of argument, it's a whine.

>match starts
>fuck around with some classes I don’t play that often
>team eating shit at every turn
>down to our last control point with couple minutes left on the clock
>enemy team starts shitting on us
>team gets annoyed in chat and how “I’m not even using my REAL main!”
>team actually switches to their mains and I follow their wave as well
>we demolish the enemy team and win in just a couple of minutes

Attached: D452F68E-95FE-4867-AFA9-5F1590A29FC1.jpg (640x755, 97K)

"fun to play with and fun to play against" actually is an argument, considering it's pretty much how you're supposed to design multiplayer games

I have fun on either side of a random crit which automatically renders his complaint of bad game design his personal opinion that I don't agree with, and additionally I think should either neck himself or remove the stick from his ass.

>I have fun when I die to a random crit
No you fucking don't, but go ahead and explain your pretentious reason why it's actually fun to get killed by complete RNG.

"You don't actually have fun with that" is some of the most pretentious hogshit I ever see on Yea Forums and one of the most brazen attempts to peddle opinion as a fact, my opinion has been revised to "neck himself".

Explain how it's fun then faggot

>die in a silly way
>surprise of getting critted out of the blue
>laugh from somebody using Shred Alert or Schadenfreude or congaing after killing me with a random crit
Stop gettin' mad at video games, I only get pissed if it's some faggot with a gold black box or a sticky-spammer because I hate the roaming playstyle and everyone that tries it.

Attached: 1542503684263.png (607x426, 43K)

what the fuck is a hyper casual like you even doing on Yea Forums?

Autobalance is a good thing.

TF2 is not a very hardcore game.

>"You will be autobalanced in 5 seconds"
>disconnect
>reconnect
its that easy, you guys

I'm not even into TF2.
I haven't played the game in years.
But entering a thread deliberately seeking out this clip and finding it makes me happy each time.

Yes, it is, that's literally the only way it's been able to survive for so long. If the game was literally just based around "silly" shit it would've died years ago. There is a serious focus on balance in the game generally, Valve alters weapon stats to appease the competitive crowd, and the high skill ceiling keeps people playing. Yes it has the casual side to it too, but random crits are barely even a part of that, considering your chance of getting a crit increases the better you are at the game. If they were removed the casual side would remain and the competitive edge would be enhanced.

You mean the fashion gun game isn't a casual game?
