Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
DON'T use W10's own virtual disc app! Don't install under C:\Program Files\ !
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
Follow the SH2 widescreen fix site's instructions to the teeth, and you should be fine.
For 3 & 4, check the Guide.

-Play in the release order
-Never play below Normal difficulty
-Replaying them all is recommended
-Turn down the ingame Brightness setting
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help

It really isn't. 2 didn't have great enemy variety, but 3's enemies were just annoying. Heather as a character is really inconsistent too. I didn't hate it, but honestly 1>2>3

I dislike SH1-SH3 storyline, but SH1 has one of best art styles ever put into a video game while SH3 has by far the best sound design and the best otherworld (or whatever) out of all SH games.
SH2 has the best soundtrack but the story really isn't much more than Twin Peaks for tards, even Deadly Premonition did it better.

No, the story was 10/10, but I couldn't stand the clunky gameplay.

Worst thing about SH games is how shit the bossfights are. Monsters are just annoying and you can run past most of them, but bossfights are horrendous. They really needed someone like Kojima circa MGS 1-3 to do the bossfights.
Puzzles are also hit and miss. SH as a series thrives on outstanding visual and sound design, but is middling to bad in everything else.

Hmm, usually people complain about the story but say gameplay was okay. What was your issue with it? I know gameplay felt a little smoother in each title but I didn't have any issue with 1 once I started making use of L1/R1 more.

Re installed SH2 with all recent enhanced edition shit and it was pretty easy. Runs iffy at times with some small FPS drops but its solid in accuracy and quality.

My biggest problem was the way you controlled Harry. I've played games with tank controls and didn't have much problem, but in SH I kept getting stuck on corners and shit. Got my ass kicked by faster enemies because of this.
