why are they always shit?
Guns in video games
because they are designed by people who often dont own let alone have used a firearm. nor do they have knowledge in their design and development. So you have them being made by people with almost 0 experience of knowledge of them so they always nonsensical, un-creative and boring.
Not in Arma 3, STALKER, or CounterStrike GO
>Bethesda designed gun
take a wide guess
>Poor animations
>Shit sound design
Damage numbers are a mere third of the overall presentation of a gun. If it sounds like it's shitting popcorn, or the character reloads it like he's handling a baby, the weapon is going to feel like a wet noodle. It needs to sound beefy, like it could snap my wrists with every trigger pull. Reloads need to be fast yet have some reckless abandon to them. The character needs to manhandle and slap the thing around.
If you want a game with weapons that are the antithesis to everything I've just said, go play Fallout 4.

You don't need to own a gun to look up the most common gun designs in the world for a basic understanding.
>implying only bethesda is guilty of this
not saying you do but most of the time little to no research is done in how and why guns develop the way they do.
Because guns are also shit IRL
wild. a wild guess. where the fuck did you get wide from?
Honestly, we live in an age where learning about firearm mechanisms is a few clicks away, and people seem to chose to be perpetually ignorant, even when they are supposed to design the damn things.
>Left handed bolt-action rifles
Dont worry. The good folks at Obsidian fixed that.
>mirrored weapons
Why do they do this?
>Chris Avellone is a leftie who hates guns
>Still went out to a shooting range to understand the mechanics
>STALKER
>working parts are on the left side of the guns
uh no
>FNV devs spent far too much time trying to force the engine to do individual reloading for lever actions, shotguns and revolvers just for the sake of realism and mechanics
He took the Wide Wasteland perk.
god bless them, all the shotguns in NV are amazing.
I hope you're not making a joke, drum or box magazine fed pump actions are a real thing.
my bad. I'm not a native speaker. always thought it was wide.
Wasn't that Josh Sawyer?
Yeah, user is confused
Especially since the street sweeper is so popular on tv
considering he's Autismo Sawyerino, perhaps so.
cope
NV has an amazing arsenal of weapons, only tainted by Bethesda's shitty engine.
It's possible ;^)
But Sawyer is autistic as fuck anyways also nobody is badmouthing NV weapons
>muh visuals
Also you can change gun orientation from right to left to fix that. Otherwise it's all about the feeling of shooting them.
It's not impossible for it to function like so. There's semi shotguns that have pumps.
Pic unrelated, rate my shotgun Yea Forums. It's using RPK furniture that I barely modified.
Normally I'm against wood furniture and rails being combined but I really dig it, user.
What's the purpose? To pay money to go to a gunrange every other weekend to pop off a few rounds?
Can't feel like a man without one? I don't get it.
Their designed to look cool, for example brass is supposed to eject to the right but in 90% of Vidya they eject left because it looks neat
Guns are legit fun.
