Daggerfall

What the fuck, I sated my thirst for blood and went from 5hp to just 13hp? Bugged ass game.

Daggerfall thread.

That's intended, faggot.

What do you mean intended? I should have a LOT more HP than that after killing people. And I don't have any disease.

Explain this

This game is terrible. I liked the beginning dungeon but when I got to the first town its just so boring having to go around talking to people

Nul way faga

Nuclear stop looking and make your minecrap house

So I've got this Far Silence sapphire in one of my 'mark' slots. How do I use that?

You don´t know what to to? Go back to your linear storytelling games. You need high IQ to play Daggerfall.

Attached: Lycantropo.jpg (1150x839, 173K)

Whatever key you set in your settings for using magic items.

Has anyone fixed OP's bug? I've got the same situation in my game. Reduced HP. I should be above a hundred hp, I don't know what the fuck happened.

Well, I guess that's it lads, pack your stuff, nobody cares about this anymore.

how finished is unity?

It's because Daggerfall Unity isn't a 1:1 port, it's a remake. These things are just different. It's the same when you get poisoned. It's completely different to how it worked in DF.

But, what are you suggesting caused this? I'm not poisoned, I don't have any diseases, I've got literally nothing that would reduce my HP like this.

the dream is over, the sleeper has awakened

should start making these on /vr/ where they wont die in 30 mins.

It's like playing vanilla Daggerfall with a bunch of fixes, but in native screen resolution and with a bunch of enhancements.
Still buggy though.

I wish Daggerfall Unity could have been to Daggerfall what System Shock Enhanced Edition was to System Shock
Still I guess this isn't too bad I guess

HALT

Barely even feels like a game, when it comes down to it. Finished the MQ, did some Daedra shit, became Arch Magister, but to be honest Daggerfall isn't even good for it's time.
Morrowind definitely refines the things that Daggerfall did well, and it does it without being an incredibly lazy procedurally generated mess.

a lot of glitches and bugs and things not behaving or working as they should. Like every second randomly generated quest breaks in one way or another, while in the original daggerfall that happens maybe once every 10 hours.

How do I raise rank with temples (specifically Arkay) so i can use the potion maker and buying? Ive been doing the guildrank console commands and trying to find the faction ID, but nothings working

I have the misfortune of being poisoned, i've set the timescale to 0 since in one second i will die no matter what. I've spent the last while looting alchemy shops (as its nighttime) for the ingredients for the potion but cant actually make it.

I cannot fast travel, and have used the tedious travel mod to actually go to other towns. and i cannot rest.

Attached: 1538839863773.jpg (500x391, 71K)

Enter tgm in the console for god mode then go get yourself cured.

Would if I could. Nobody cures poison, only diseases

go get a spell from the mage's guild

already gave myself a cure poison spell. but I have 25 spell points and I need 28. adding level via console does not give attribute points

Make a cheaper cure poison spell at the spell maker.

wow you might as well go edit a save game file and add yourself more spell points if you're gonna cheat so much

Figured it out. Instead i used showitemmaker to bring up the enchantment window, then enchanted a ring i have with cure poison.

Im only cheating because i have no other way.

It aims to be GZDoom

I'm sorry but your character sounds kind of bad, this game is all about preparation. If you're new to it, regardless of your class or whatever, you should be using magic as support.

i've done every main quest and maxed my rep in like 5 guilds and i have encountered maybe 1 or 2 quests that bugged out.
99% of the time someone thinks a dungeon is bugged there's really just a hidden secret to get to the objective.

Or you need to wait few hours in dungeon for quest objective enemy to spawn and find you. I've had few situations where I thought dungeon was bugged only to sleep in it and have enemy find me.

Yeah. im just level 7, but im all melee. didnt figure poison would only be cured by potion or spells. I just never use magic in games just out of preference

Attached: Immersive-Movement-Daggerfall-Unity-_-VR-Daggerfall_-Some-early-tests.webm (640x360, 2.96M)

Of course you can be an all-melee character in this game but it helps to know what you're doing and how to prepare for certain eventualities, something a new player is not really going to know.

Oh yeah, if you haven't already, you should start to think about how to deal with paralysis.

I actually have the fortune of being immune to paralysis.

Imagine skeleton REEEEing at you in VR.

yep you're stuck like that have fun

I just edited the save back to normal hp, my dude. No biggie.

I don’t know what those other anons are talking about, if you install the fixes everything works fine.

>liked the beginning dungeon
you're serious?

Attached: 1s9hnmbnyff31.jpg (293x293, 14K)

Here's a tip, I guess. I don't bother with the potion-maker, collecting ingredients sucks dick; fuck that. I just buy the potions which is much easier. You can sit there and talk to them and each time you talk to them their inventory is refreshed. Just hoard a bunch of free action, cure disease, cure poison, true heal, or whatever potions you want. I usually take about 30 of each and store them in my wagon. You can split stacks and take a few of each of them with you into a dungeon.

Are all dungeon objectives located behind some secret bullshit?

sometimes they are
post a pic of the dungeon you're in and maybe i can spot it

Sometimes, the map reveals things that are hidden. If you think it's genuinely bugged use ~ and tele2qspawn or tele2qitem

there is storage boxes on the boat.

It's not been bugged so far but I'm noticing a pattern of never finding shit without either triggering something or opening a hidden door. Makes dungeon diving fucking tedious what with the size of those fuckers.

>have to find some guy lost somewhere in the daggerfall province
>no one will tell me anything, as in there's no option to ask about him
So what the fuck do I do?

Attached: 1564674272162.png (890x661, 166K)

There should be something under 'general', but it might be hidden in the quest text. What is it?

No shit. He is lost after all. You're supposed to find him, if some random people knew where he is you wouldn't have this quest in the first place.

after a lot of dungeon exploring you'll learn to see the patterns in the modules, because they are consistent. certain modules can have multiple variations though.

>patterns in the modules
Are there mods for this? If anything I'd be happy if the same room couldn't generate more than once in the same dungeon. Really fucks with my orientation.

you can enable smaller dungeons in settings.ini which will limit dungeons to be 1 block in size, the same size as the first dungeon
this only effects the random dungeons though

I'll check there

Oh so in sixty days I'm supposed to check 200 different locations and hope I find him

is this sword used in the game anywhere?
there is a huge crossbow too.

Attached: sword.png (1920x1080, 1.12M)

yeah, in the final dungeon

Final dungeon in the main story uses them iirc

>Smaller dungeons
I feel like this isn't an ideal solution, but still the best we've got. Enormous dungeons would be fine if they made some kind of sense, not these sprawling rootlike dead ends no one would build in the first place. You never navigate nonsense in real life so it's just...alien. Uncanny, weird. truly magical

Why are there so many daggerfall threads lately

Attached: nigga wat.jpg (400x400, 24K)

Dumb nigger.

Logs read:
Agristair Wickham has sent me to look for Andyn Buckingwing, a veteran member who is lost somewhere in Daggerfall. I have two months to return to Ipshead.

Arena Unity when

the thing i don't like about normal sized dungeons is the fact that every block is self contained. if you pull a lever in one block it only affects thing in that block, and once you realize that it makes those huge 4-5 block dungeons seem less like one gigantic puzzle and more like a bunch of normal sized puzzles padded together and you have to solve one by one until you get lucky and find the block with your objective. you could find your objective in 20 mins or 2 hours.
with smaller dungeons being only one block you know that every lever or secret door you find is actually getting you closer to solving the block that contains your objective. if dungeons were one singular thing and pulling a lever in one block opened a door in another so they actually felt like one giant puzzle, which would admittedly make them harder, i think they'd be more enjoyable and feel less like i'm wasting my time exploring blocks that do not contain my objective or help me get closer to my objective in any way.

arena was fucking dogshit
just play ultima underworld, arena is a shittier version of it

youtube.com/watch?v=erflKPFAIOU

Either cheat and find that quest type on the wiki or be fucked, I think. 'Veteran member' might mean you should ask guild members, but it's a long shot.

public stable release of Arena Unity when

I didn't think to ask the guild members. Guess that's my only hope beyond cheating.

I'm with you on this. Not generating in blocks at all (beyond whatever unit is used for rooms and so on) might have helped. Just adding more shit to each dungeon for as long as the algorithm likes, with a couple of guidelines for it to make progression sensible. Probably impossible to mod though

So it's looking like this is an additional quest added from mods, or so it seems. I can't find it in the wiki under the list of quests from the Knights, so I'm likely just going to tombstone the quest

Don't guilds have a pool of guild specific quests, but also dip into a pool of shared common quests? Might be one of those if that's the case

en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Quests
This cover everything? Shit man I feel like I'm doing the quest right now.

Man, Daggerfall's dungeons are such a mess.
I like it for charbuilding, and roleplay stuff it offers, but dungeon-delving is messed up.

because it's been ported over to unity which means the floodgates of custom content is now skyrocking to areas never thought possible in the original game like pic/related

Attached: Fight & Brawl.png (1364x1444, 284K)

I don't get it

Can Hand-To-Hand overcome creature material resistances? Is it based on gauntlets/boots or does it just not work at all?

It simply ignores all resistances. Your fists are as good as daedric metal.

punching ignores all monster materials resistance. you can punch ancient vampires to death if your weapon can't touch them

Do you think the snowflake could have made that quest just a little more stridently progressive? It's not politically correct enough for me.

this sounds fine in theory

I'm arachnophobic so I'd download this

I'd recommend just dropping daggerfall if you don't like the dungeons

Learn to use your map and carry around a recall spell or item. Levitate helps, too.

smaller dungeons is the only way to derive any enjoyment from Daggerfall

can you train streetwise/etiquette by just spamming conversation?

Seconding this:
You can try the normal dungeons settings, but if you dislike the core gameplay loop don't waste your time with daggerfall.

I think your best bet is a trainer

Does anyone know how to cycle through quests in the debug menu?

>normal dungeon settings
What.
>core gameplay loop
What. Dungeon delving? I can live with that if dungeon generation is not fucked.

I think he means the smaller dungeon setting. you can turn that on in one of the config files to make the dungeons a much more bearable size

I feel like 315 days is a little generous to get a quest done.

Has anyone ever had 2 building spawn inside each other? My map says it's the kingston residence, but I enter into the Moorston Residence

He'll ask for something stupid like that but then you'll only have to pay like 40k. But you have to show him you have the 200k first for some reason

>Read everything carefully and keep a pen and paper at your desk.
What? Thats ridiculous. I never had to do that with PS1 or n64 games.

Somebody post the study where they found quest markers negatively impact the player's orientation ability.

Some buildings are duplexes and the wrong doors are labeled by the game. Could also be an adjacent building.

I just want to be told where to go constantly so I can get to the action as fast as possible

You should just quit right now

No, you are looking at the wrong building on the map. Becayse of how the text is displayed on the map it's sometimes ambiguous

Debug mode also shows 2 different markers on the same door, so I don't think it's that

Attached: file.png (2557x1080, 357K)

Is that the only door on the building?

Was not aware of such an issue. Wouldn't this be more likely with adrenaline rush?

yes. Is there a noclip command so I can try to activate the door from the other side or something?

>Becayse of how the text is displayed on the map it's sometimes ambiguous
love when it does that
it's the one the word "the" is touching

Attached: which house.png (612x454, 55K)

You've never played CRPGs then.
They're long extinct now, but back when games like Might & Magic and Ultima were being made, it was standard practice to chronicle your journey with your own skills and tools.

When the games started highlighting "important" bits of information for you via in-game journals, developers put less time into dialogue and written content because you naturally wouldn't bother reading it. The summary was always more useful than your own notes.

Try to enjoy it or just play something more streamlined if you can't.

Can't spam inside of 1 conversation. Open conversation with a townperson and ask once about something using either blunt or polite. This counts as 1 skill check

Do whatever you can, you're trailblazing with the version you're running.
That's a new bug that wasn't in the original.

if you can get the block name of inside the house then you can tp I think. The only way I know how to do that is be in the building though.
the alternative is getting the exterior block name and dumping a file of it to alter and inject back in.

How od i identify moagic items? Clicking info only says that item has inidentified powers. Hammer went for 7k, and now i have a robe and no idea if its usefull or not. It shoots lightning ball (i can cast a spell from it - cast when used)?

As a service if you join a guild or temple, or learn to do it yourself (from a guild or temple)

Does this game have seasons? The City of Daggerfall is suddenly green and temperate

Using identify spell, duh.

Mages guild or make a spell

Yes.

I have a few "cast when used" items, how do they work?

Conan just chilling there

Yeah, found a guy in mage's guild. Thanks for the tips. Robe of paralysis apparently, can be cast at range. Nifty.

>Put dagger in right hand
>Slash with either hand randomly
I don't get it

user, you don't use WMDs to finish off one guy

What?
As far as I know, there's a button to switch which weapon you are using (H?), but you only ever hit with one at a time.

I didn't, though. Only happened with the dagger too

Why can't Todd give Dagger and Morrow to consoles?

Morrowindfag here, this game is far more fun than I anticipated going in.

Morrowind was on consoles

Morrowind is on consoles nerd

>Arrows don't actually have weight
Why bother with bank notes? We should invest in thousands and thousands of arrows instead

that does look good

I mean MODERN consoles, Skyrim gets on every console but not the good TES games?

I want an Oblivion remaster

Can you break open magic locked doors?

Attached: aaaaaaaaaa.png (1916x1080, 516K)

Dont think so
Opendoor does

I think I made a mistake coming here with no potions or magic of any kind lads

Attached: The Tristyrick Academy.png (1366x768, 344K)

Fuck it I'll try it. Do I need the original game or can I just download the Unity Port?

Does a longsword have more reach than a katana? It says 5ft for longsword and 4ft for katana. Katana hits the same and is lighter, but if the longsword has more reach I'll use that.

you download the original then point the unity launcher to the game folder and you're good to go
the original is free

all weapons have the same reach

That's easy. How similar is it to Morrowind?

youtube.com/watch?v=qaIOaE7Mg9Y
IMAGINE

Sounds like katana is a winner, then. Thanks.

>it listed
What listed? DREAM?

Racism should be a huge thing in TES games imo. But that quest is so fucking badly written.

You used Daggerfall setup, right?
In the installer, the last two sections I think, languages and keyboard, should be disabled.

This, as long as it can affect the player negatively too. Like a guild that just outright refuses non-elf races. An Orc faction for Orcs only. And so on

Great I can finally remove the DREAM sounds mod, so fucking jarring to have some sounds be the same as in Diablo 1.

Is there a player orc mod yet?

Damn I forgot which TES thread I was in. Strike the Orc part.

I think someone linked one in a previous thread, but I don't know if the link is anywhere else. You might just have to search the archived threads for it

this doesn't seem right on default dungeon setting. I've clicked on every wall and objects but still nothing. Weird

what is your quest objective?

Are you in a crypt?

I just ventured into random crypt

they are naturally that small

A while ago i was saying I couldnt get my DREAM textures to work.

I figured it out incase someone else has a related problem. I went into my streamingassets/textures folder and removed all the textures in there that I figured were related to caves/towns etc. I figured i dumped them there from a zip of another mod and putting them in that folder overrode the textures in the mods folder.

the dream cinematics module doesn't seem to work for me. It just gives black screen during the cinematics that I have to click past. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

>Install DREAM textures
>Loading times suddenly take several minutes

This really is epic. Granted, I do have the game installed on a 5+ year old HDD

>weapon enchantment

It hits me pretty hard but longest load has been five seconds. Your HDD is about to die.

I'm aware, but I'm stretching it's life out as long as I can. SSDs are expensive

A 256gb SSD is around fifty bucks and that's more than enough for an OS and a handful of games

which is the mod for the fancy spell/buff icons?

Is it even possible to progress through the main quest without a guide? I followed all the letters I had delivered until I got the location of Lysandus's Tomb. Looking at the wiki I'm supposed to speak to Lysadnus's lover in the middle of nowhere in order to progress? How the hell are you supposed to figure that out?

I'm planning to go for a 1tb ssd, same as my current hard drive. I can afford it if needed, but I'd rather wait until my HDD is fully dead or unusable.

Attached: 1527203930521.gif (368x349, 2.53M)

Why not a 256gb ssd and a 1tb hdd? It's cheaper and most things that aren't your os and vidya won't benefit much from being on an ssd.

I just feel like it'd be simpler to get one hard drive. Besides, with how big games are getting, I fear 256gb would be filled very quickly

No, even that only works on your own spells. It does jack shit to enemy spells.

FUCK YOU SMASHFAG!

the yellow thing on the left is how big the dungeon is. 2x2(don't count the extruding pixel) is really small

It would be great if DaggerfallUnity had support for Quake's Trenchbroom for Dungeons n shiet

Imagine the AD levels of stuff made for daggerfall

Did I hit the jackpot found this from the archer in the very first dungeon didn't even know you could find magic weapons so early

>hate super big dungeons
>love that they are chocked full of loot
Hmm. Maybe I need to learn how to dungeon crawl better. I loved chalice dungeons in BB but I only like dungeons in Daggerfall when they aren't labyrinths or when they have good loot. Also any one that has an underwater section is horsecrap. How the hell am I not supposed to be heavy if I have so much loot?

What am I going to spend all this gold on?

So, is Plate armor just any armor above chain?

Depend on the enchant what is it?

what is this?
did something happen?

holy shit look at those pistons

houses & maybe a small boat when you have the thousands of gold coins it costs

>Can't even come up with a good argument

daggerfall is fucking trash

What is this old ass shit? Why don't you play a game with actual graphics like Skyrim. I hate you retards for liking old shitty games, what the fuck even is Daggerfall?

Attached: F.jpg (145x170, 5K)

user that was nine hours ago, how mad are you?

no idea if this is in vanilla or not but there seems to be a bug where if your armor is enchanted with literally anything your chance to dodge enemy hits goes through the fucking roof.

was testing how much damage i took with certain enchantments on my armor and noticed they were never hitting, then i reloaded my save and went to the same place with my unenchanted gear and they hit frequently like normal. then i reenchanted my gear with shit completely unrelated to combat like bad rep with commoners on every piece, and when i went back to the same place they once again were literally never landing a hit on me.

Attached: 1493502982171.png (451x619, 429K)

Interesting. If you can consistently reproduce and document the bug it would be worth reporting, unless it already has or existed in vanilla.

>If you're making a custom class, then make sure you use the advantage Immunity to Magic. Then give the disadvantages Critical Weakness: Poison and Critical Weakness: Paralysis. Paralysis and Poison are magic based so the Immunity cancels out the other two.

Is this true?

fixed in unity

8ch is dead because of him.

you raised more questions than answered dude

That's Epstein, do you live under a rock?
Look it up and stop posting. Thanks!

How's it feel to be completely braindead

Literally climb a mountain and throw yourself from it bitch, if you don't want to answer then don't but stop acting like a bitch

In unity the system is on a 0 to 100% resistance basis. So if you pick an Immunity you get 100% and if you pick weaknesses it drops it back to 50% or so from what I understand. I learned the hard way when I tried a high elf mage with critical weakness to paralysis.

I answered, cumguzzler.

ok upon further testing i have identified the bug.

when you enchant a piece of gear while you are wearing it, the gear gets removed and put in your inventory, but the armor rating on your character is not removed during this. in fact from what i can tell it can never be removed. so if you wore a helmet with 15 armor and got it enchanted while wearing it, your head slot would permanently have 15 armor, which would then stack with the helmet when you put it back on.

so i was basically doubling my armor rating which is why i was never getting hit.

Attached: 1493516139543.gif (348x501, 804K)

Shit man, good find. Write it up and bask in credit for finding a game breaking bug.

When I raped your whore mother, I came in her ass and made you. That's why you're such a piece of shit.

>roll mage
>get shock spell
>queue it up
>stand next to rat in starter dungeon
>click
>nothing happens
>do this 3 more times
>nothing happens
>die
what am I missing, I am looking at the rat and standing right next to it. Are touch spells just bugged?

Spells can miss and have a damage range dumbo

but I am standing next to an enemy and trying to hit it 4-5 times, are spells just inaccurate enough to miss to 5 times in a row?

No but when you roll 3+2 damage on an enemy with 30 health you're not going to kill it

shit is shock that bad? Should I just sprint out of privateers and try to get something better?

You got fucked and rolled low damage. And then you get blessed and roll high and annihilate things.

Shock can one hit human and lower tier enemies in the first dungeon or it can do nothing. As a low tier mage save scumming is you're best and only tool until you get an aoe spell to infinitely spam.

Anyone have a beginners guide to making a character? I can figure out everything else but I keep restarting because my character feels suboptimal. Any suggestions for a long blade + utility magic lad?

Version 0.10.4 is out

It has a built-in loiter cap of 12 hours now if you set it in the settings. Mod no longer needed.

Patch notes:

stick to one weapon type + critical strike, take at least restoration, mysticism, and thaumaturgy for magic as they're the most useful, and avoid all the language skills like impish or daedric or whatever if that wasn't obvious. then grabbing stuff like dodging, running, medical, mercantile, and some other stuff you might want is fine. then if you want pick some advantages and disadvantages to balance out the sword meter thing so you can level faster.

OH GREAT THE FUCKING MAIN QUEST GLITCHED OUT
AGAIN
FOR LIKE THE TENTH FUCKING TIME
>need to go get lich ashes
>go to dungeon where they're at

>that's funny, didn't notice any ashes
>toggle2qitem

>decide to toggle2qspawn on a whim
>get teleported to a spot where a lich was that I killed
>that had no lich ashes on him
Fuck this shit, I'm done with this game. I'm sick and tired of the main quest glitching out to the point it's entirely unplayable, I'm tired of the retarded ass levelling system, I'm sick of spellswords one punching me death as soon as I peak around a corner at them, and I'm sick how the game will give you main quests but if you don't autistically do them as soon as you get them they get all screwed up.

oh and take 3x int as an advantage

run through first dungeon without bothering with mobs, get to first city, join mages guild and create aoe spell in spellmaker, voila, viable mage in 5 minutes

life steal

no you didnt, steel weapons are soon outclassed because they lack to hit bonus of better materials

many things were fixed, so it is possible they also fixed this, save and try it

yes, absorb talent from char creation absorbs only your own spells, absorb from enchanted items or spell absorb enemy spells too

>I'm sick how the game will give you main quests but if you don't autistically do them as soon as you get them they get all screwed up.
That also pissed me off. It ruins the pacing of the game since I need to drop everything I'm doing and grind some giant shitty dungeons in a foreign land I have no interest in.

of the two dozen or so main quests there are only three that initiate with a time crunch letter, and of those three i'm pretty sure only one of them have you do more than just meet the person that sent the letter at which point you can be on your way.

Why are these mods and mod-offshoots so popular? MMM had an arachnophobia variant. Hell I remember seeing a mod to remove spider daedra in Oblivion.
Ok but this is kinda like wanting to play Subnautica but thinking "this game would be so much better without all this water." Humans have a base fear of darkness too, Doom 3 mods just improved the flashlight and didn't make everything fullbright.

Wtf must I do to progress the main quest? I've just been doing sideshit and heard some voice saying vengeance as it's dark.

Level up.

Press L and read nigga

How much do houses coast? I'm in Dragontail and there's no real estate up on the market that I've seen so far but I'm too lazy to travel around and look for vacancy just to get an idea of how much gold I will need. I already have more that I can carry though. Maybe like 60.000.

I sold the house i got from the knights order for almost 500000 gold

Just turn that gold in credit lol.

Nice cheated character, you can only have one skill at 100% if you play without save game editing.

Those ancient liches sure know how to make a comfy dungeon rooms.

Attached: Daggerfall_Comfy_Dungeon.png (1920x1080, 3.9M)

How does the Repair objects enchantment work exactly?
Do I need to have the enchanted item equipped for it to do its work or can I just have it in my inventory?
I tested it before and rested for 48 hours in the fighters guild but none of my "worn" enchanted items was repaired beyond its state. I have enabled Allow magic item repairs.

You need to wear the item with "repair objects" enchantment and it only repairs other items that you're wearing, not items in your inventory. Those enchantments stack, so if you have more than one item with repair objects, your items will be repaired faster.

What if those worn items can not be equipped?
I have an enchanted bell and an enchanted symbol that need repairing. I can't wear those.

Attached: 1528740091052.png (253x199, 6K)

Also to clear up, I was going by the wiki which says
>Repair Items will repair any damaged items in the character's inventory by one condition level after every 8 hours of rest
>damaged items in the character's inventory

Those can't be repaired and will disappear when completely used. Same with wands. That's why it's better to enchant your armor or those trinkets you can equip, not wands and stuff.

I have tested it and it doesn't work on items you're not wearing. So I guess by character's inventory wiki means items that you're wearing, or they're wrong.

Thanks. Guess I'll sell those other items then.

how long til sex mods?

ded thred

So when are mods gonna turn daggerfall into a lo-res skyrim?

not saying it is not cheated character, but in vanilla you could have multiple skills at 100% if you trained them to 100% simultaneusly, havent tested it in dfu yet

Doesn't work in dfu, you can only train one to 100 even if you try to time multiple hitting 100 at the same time.

interesting, which one of the skills gets increased and do others stay at 99%? and do they count towards next level?

The first from the order you placed them in Primary, Major, Minor. Others stay at 99% and they do not count for level up.

oh well, along with jail time this was nice little trick to get few levels more, sad they fixed it, thanks for info

I think 30 is the absolute highest level you can get now, at least that's what I got with my character optimized for powerleveling.

Playing Daggerfall all day is the best birthday gift I could ask for. Thank the rpg gods for daggerfall unity.

Attached: smilingkirk1.jpg (600x299, 30K)

Is it normal that murdering random civvies doesn't give me any corpse? I just chop 'em once then they disappear and the guards show up charging me with murder.
Also is there any way to get the original daggerfall hud back? Not liking this simplistic bullshit.

It's normal.
Old big huge hud is planned in the next version.

Nice in regards to the hud, also it kinda sucks about the murdering, i like to see evidence of my awfulness and murdering random daggerfall-esque npcs added by some mod and selling their shit to skooma dealers (who i then tended to also murder) was a joyful experience back when I had a nice modded morrowind setup.

I believe they're working on opening up the dungeon blocks data to modders, letting people design their own dungeon blocks

This is something I'm most excited about. Current dungeons get boring really quickly, so adding more variety through mods will be fantastic.

I've seen people talking about an option for smaller procgen'd dungeons but I haven't seen it in the options in dfu, I've heard horror stories about the gigantic random labyrinths of daggerfall and while I guess I'd like to experience one at least once, I'm sure it gets extremely old extremely fast.

This option is only in config file for now, you need to edit it in notepad to enable it.

So is there no way of making bespoke dungeons for daggerfall yet? I have extremely fond memories of dungeon mods like the dungeons of ivellon (scared the absolute shit out of me, also fucking huge) and hentaimania (lorebreaking and anime as fuck but incredibly satisfying encounters especially combined with deadly reflex, also some setpieces so good i still remember them 10+ years later) for oblivion.

Last thread I saw someone talking about an Isle of Betony mod?
I can't find anything about it anywhere though, did I get troled?

Nope, you're stuck with default ones for now.

sometimes it just takes a long time to load because of all the assets, especially on first load. if it doesn't load after like a minute then something is fucked, but i guess it depends on your specs.

Oh well, not like I've even scratched the surface of daggerfall anyway. An LGNPC-esque mod is #1 on my wishlist right now. I just hope people don't lose interest after the initial alpha release surge since a fully moddable version of daggerfall has so much fucking potential.

>I just hope people don't lose interest after the initial alpha release surge since a fully moddable version of daggerfall has so much fucking potential.
I really hope so, too. When they release dungeon modding I might try to make something myself, although I've never made any mods.
What I'm also really looking forward to is mod to make game more difficult and challenging, because now it gets extremely easy very quickly to the point of feeling like a cheater only because you've became so powerful. Hell, it can be really easy even right from the start in the initial dungeon if you create your custom class correctly.

How would you change the difficulty?
I can agree with the fact that you end up feeling far too strong far too quickly, but I'm not really sure how you'd tackle that
Increasing monster HP/damage would just end up being frustrating I think

I recall that there was this "bug" where if you sleep with an item that fortifies an attribute it will take longer to level it up. Has that been changed?

>I'm also really looking forward to is mod to make game more difficult and challenging
You could always pick one of bethesda's premade fucked-to-death classes, like the burglar that can only wear plate armor and has lockpicking as primary skill lol.
Then again they still get the ebony dagger option in the opening questionnaire.
I have to say one of the more entertaining things for me with daggerfall is just how broken you can make your class and abuse spellmaking, but I do understand why you want this since even with a gimped character you go from zero to hero far too quickly once you leave the starting dungeon. It'd take overhauling the level scaling as well to make it really work.
Also did dfu fix the bug where if you choose disease weakness in your background and also crit weakness to disease as a class disadvantage it rolls over to make you invulnerable to disease?

It seems that the game is balanced around those totally gimped base classes and never using custom spell maker/item maker. And never reaching level 10. And never getting any skill over 50%. And never having any stat at 100. Yea, the balance is totally fucked up. Removing level scaling and making end game enemies more powerful and balanced around your character having access to spell maker and item maker would be a good start.

the new improved interior lighting mod is nice

I gotta say I don't like the texture and model mods that are coming out but maybe i've been poisoned by years of garbage graphics mods for doom. The shadows on the sprites and the parralax floor look like fucking dogshit to me, even with the lower resolution rendering there's no cohesion.
Looks like one of those unity 'retro' fps games that show up on steam every 30 seconds, which I guess it is in a way. At least it doesn't use one of the vaseline sprite mods.

thx, brb installing

I agree, the shadows on sprites look very out of place

that's fine, that's the great thing about the unity port, you can play it however you want. I like the modern retro fps feel, that's what i'm actually trying to go for. I just wish the mipmapping on the high res textures was handled better, especially outdoors. High res textures + retro rendering outside and in towns looks like shit, dungeons and interiors look really nice to me.

I do kind of wish there was just a mod that was the vanilla textures with some normals and specular to give them a bit of depth but keep the resolution low.

Now we need 3D models to replace sprites and everything will be perfect.

You can disable Enemy and NPC shadows with the improved lighting mod. Best thing about it is that it lets you change the color temperatures of lights and adds a flicker effect.

Something closer to how duke3d handled sprite shadows would be much nicer, if the modder is present here they should have a look at nash's spriteshadow mod for doom, shit looks good and rarely clashes with the scenery.
On that note i hope nash gets an interest in daggerfall somehow and we get a nashgore equivalent, never felt right with the gory death sprites but no splatter.
i'm not dissing your mod selection, just saying i don't like what's avaliable right now, something that smooths the terrain in exteriors would be nice and go a long way towards making these mods more viable
then again right now i'm on a linux laptop with the shittiest processor known to man so i'll probably change my tune once i'm back to my desktop
somewhat related that i also really hate the new font rendering, just makes it look like that oblivion font we all hated while the original is perfectly readable, an overhaul of the book interface would be nice, though.
vasayan pls stop, on the off chance this isn't a joke just look at the duke 3d hrp and ask yourself if you really want this

I like this, now interiors look like they are really lit by fire, not by fluorescent bulb.

Attached: Daggerfall_LightMod.jpg (1920x1080, 658K)

you can disable SDF fonts on the first screen in the launcher

I know lol, forgot to mention that i'd already obviously done that
you can also do it through shift-f11 and compare it on the fly
it kind of looks good, but kind of looks like some android unity asset flip rpg at the same time

i'm going to bed but to elaborate on what i mean, the low res assets are obviously a product of their time, having high res textures and 3d models and (to a lesser extent) more complex lighting kind of just highlight how bad it looks instead of enhancing it. Just look at that 1/10th of a potion on the wall.

Go to your appdata\locallow\daggerfallworkshop folder you'll find an ini file there. In that ini under experimental, change smaller dungeons from false to true.
I recommend everybody do this, makes dungeons actually sane in their scale now, they're still plenty big though so don't worry about that matt. Doesn't change main quest dungeons though as they were handcrafted.
Also, make sure you're not in a dungeon in your save game or else you'll fall into the void boyd.

Not at all.

What did they mean by this?

Hey dudes, I'm playing Daggerfall Unity and I have a problem; every NPC just says "No response" when I try to talk to them, I've traveled to other towns and every single NPC gives me no response. What's going on? A bug? Did my character break the law or something? I can't remember doing anything bad.

Just got the lycanthropy dream. Should I keep the disease or cure it?

yes if you're a furfag

VI and VII best Wizardry fuck 8

Did Wizardry 8 kill your dog?

Plz reply

>get a duel quest
>find guy i have to duel
>cant talk to him at all

good game.

If it's saying "You get no response." it's because either you're in werewolf form or you're just that disliked by those poeple.

There's no reason not to be a furfag.

Cast Water Walking, it makes you "walk" through water really fast.

How do I enable Enhanced Sky mod? I have it installed but nothing changed.

Its not out yet.

did anyone manage to run retro textures with distant terrain?

bump

You have been visited by Laura the Riveter.

Come on anons, you c-can do it! D-don't let the thread die now!

Attached: Laura.png (112x242, 55K)

This game is kicking my ass. I went in blind and got the plague in the tutorial dungeon after dying about 50 times to skeleton warriors, and now I'm a werewolf after doing a mage guild quest. However I'm not sure if something is bugged because I can turn back in forth between forms multiple times a day where I heard you should only be able to once a day.

Pretty fun game so far but it feels like I'm leveling slowly. Dark elf nightblade

The difference between fumbling around with your first couple of characters and sitting down and "properly" making one with relevant skills and attributes is huge. I went from a 55ish STR/AGI character to making something with 60 STR and 65 AGI with the freebie Ebony Blade you can get from the creation and the difference is night and day
>dying about 50 times to skeleton warriors
Do you have the enhanced combat AI turned on by any chance? Someone in another thread said it turns the skeleton difficulty way up with their blocking and dodging

Attached: 20190810232007_1.jpg (1920x1080, 399K)

is this wind waker

>its just so boring having to go around talking to people

It's called a role playing game, what did you expect? It's about immersing yoursenf into the world and pretending to be someone you're not while having a grand adventure, or at least that's what role playing games used to be about.

We've got all these regions, it would be so cool if each one had a different level range for enemies. So you could start out in one region and have to work to be able to survive in the other regions. Tie that to the main quest and you're golden. It's a shame you start out in Daggerfall, which would be a high level region by that system.

Anyway, is lockpicking just entering stealth mode and trying to open the door?

no, but it's just as bad as wind waker :^)

so its a pretty good game?

The duality of man

I suspected as much, but usually people shill their mods months before release

>What am I going to spend all this gold on?
Daedra summonings for artifacts is the main thing to spend gold on when you're rich. Houses are useless because boats are houses that fit in your pocket, so don't waste your money on them but do buy a boat of course.

Creating magic items can get pretty expensive, also best soul gem (Daedra Lord) for enchanting costs 800k from soul gem seller.

>Anyway, is lockpicking just entering stealth mode and trying to open the door?
yeah pretty much
just spam lockpick on guild doors before 11:00 am

A friend of mine is so arachnophobic when the Frostbite Spiders in skyrim jump up, he walks away from the keyboard. I have no idea how he managed to beat the game before the mods.

Appreciate it. Because I'm a minmaxing fuck does the "bug" of taking paralysis, disease, and poison weakness still get negating by magic immunity but provide a bunch of points? Or do you think I should avoid that? Also how important is max health per level?

Man, is Illusion useless or what? It only has light and invisibilty/which breaks upon attacking). Why even bother?

Apparently they get a really good invisibility later on that invalidates stealth

Who the FUCK can tell me where the king's body is?
I have no idea where to look and I'm getting tired of stumbling around blindly across the whole bay.

It's given to you by the agent of the Underking after you do a quest for him in Castle Llugwych. If you finished the quest the tomb's location in Menevia should already be revealed to you.

your a faggot thats why

Well, fuck me.
Got that one mages guild quest where you have to open a chest.
I cast the spell, there's a wand inside the chest.
I try talking to the merchant, nothing. So I try using the wand.
A skeleton spawn and I kill it.
I try talking to the merchant again, nothing.
I try talking to the mages guild dude, also nothing.
What am I doing wrong here?

Anybody been to Reytry in orsinium? Every npc gives me the "you get no response" text box. Creepy as fuck.

Attached: 1507928841071.gif (480x270, 429K)

Is it worth to use GRAPHICS mods? From what I've seen NPC textures look realy hit or miss, but locations look way better.

The game is way buggier than I think the dev team let on, I'm seeing quite a bit of bugs with quests and merchants. Try updating to the 10.4 version that just came out, and see if it fixed it, or make a thread on the dfworkshop forums.

>I liked the beinning dungeon

That's how I know that you don't "just dislike the game" but that you are a zoomer piece of shit.

You like the initial dungueon becouse it tells you what to do. Your generation is lost.
I hope you get aids.

Only texture mod I've seen is dream, npcs look good for the most part, but I some look ugly but I think thats because they try to be way to faithful to the original sprites.

Cool, so it is a bug.
Thanks user!

I think it was just a misprint, it should be 354 if the full image is to be believed, that was what wan on the other branch

just play the dos version

Do wizards need a weapons skill?

Attached: 1540842884394.gif (300x296, 44K)

This one? forums.dfworkshop.net/viewtopic.php?t=1168 Eh, I think there are a lot of NPCs that look like blurry mess. And that is somehow even worse than vanilla sprites

Went to another town, and I get the same shit. I guess its all of orsinium thats like this then.

It's very useful.

Hey thanks man. I had done that quest but forgotten about that piece of information.

>Rude Song by Anonymous

Idk just download and see for yourself I guess. The mod system is simple as pie. All the mod data is contained in a .dfmod file that you put in the mods folder and enable at the start screen. Dream even seperates the diffrent texture packs in groups, ie (npcs, environment, etc) so you can pick and choose what you want. Make sure you disable compress mod textures in the dfu settings before playing though.

Anumidium water version ?

Yeah somethings missing from the original

Attached: Nice Cape.png (640x480, 52K)

Unless you use Spell Absorption cheese, being a "pure" mage is very difficult in this game, at least when starting out. You run out of magicka very quickly and won't always be able to rest before a fight, so having a backup weapon and its corresponding skill is extremely useful against weak enemies that aren't worth blowing magicka on, or to finish off wounded enemies. Once your magic skills get to sufficiently high levels you can start doing some crazy shit, but it takes a long while to get there. Or at least it would, if you couldn't grind all those skills to max without ever stepping foot inside a dungeon.

There is a small mod that adds magika regeneration and it's awesome because you can play a real wizard with it.

You'd argue it's unbalanced but I ended up using one in Morrowind too. It gives you the mana you'd get spending the same time sleeping.
Having a 3x longer journal due to all the sleeping is ridiculous.

Weird I can't find it on the workshop page?

Got a link handy I'd like to check it out for my spellsword I'm making

How often do you save in dungeons?

forums.dfworkshop.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1653

After every encounter
I've been one shot resulting losing an hour of progress too often

Like every time I kill a couple enemies lmao.

Attached: pri_60974474.jpg (644x429, 39K)

This is me as well. I feel like this is a bad approach in a dice combat game, kind of cheapens building your character. Ironmanning is far to tedious though, even on a per dungeon basis. Thoughts?

Its acceptable when you're low level imo.

It's not that I mind redoing the encounters themselves really, I just can't bear re-exploring the dungeon I've already spent and hour in, with another one to come. Maybe I'll do smaller dungeons in exchange for only saving x5 for each delve or something

Wait, so you're devoted to Arkay, but doing everything in your power to avoid death?

I joined the temple of Kynareth, which doesn't do potions. I'm in the mages guild, which I believe doesn't either. Do any knightly orders have them or am I stuck with what I can loot?

Bretons bringing the bants.

mages can make their own potions it just takes a really long time, better to join that way you can just buy em in bulk

The mages guild sells potions? Problem solved then I guess. Must have missed the potion seller. It did seem odd the walls were literally lined with potions, every single on of them, if they didn't do potions there.

>kynareth is by far the most common temple
