This is correct, more women play games than men. The problem, the REAL problem is what the far left retards try to imply and do using this logic.
They try to use this to change the big console games to cater for women and they always fucking fail and kill shit.

There are two kinds of developers, the chad puzzle developer and the virgin "woman caterer".
The puzzle developer is not even TRYING to cater for women, but they're all after his long piece, while the woman caterer tries to hover hand women to play the cinematic shit he did, and fails to attract anything but awful fat landwhales.

Girls, according to stats, tend to play mobile games, but when they play regular ones on consoles or PCs, they tend to leave voice chat off. One reason could be that the main female streamers tend to create negative stereotypes of women, because every time they show up in the news it's shit like abusing a cat, or nip slips that get them banned.

On top of that a bunch of female streamers who get fame tend to lose it quickly when they do something that makes them lose followers, while male streamers tend to have controversies that don't involve personal attacks, more about actions (Pewdiepie's N-word thing).
Yes, women play games. Not all women play mobile and on top of that the mobile data skews public perception, the real data on console games is about 40% as of this writing.

Women also have different weights on genre, which is interesting to me, because women are more likely to play "Slow" games where thinking is the prime action, like puzzle or strategy games, with one exception being shooters, which are nearly even. Guys are more likely to play twitch reflex action games and fighters, competitive games as well.
Women are naturally competitive with other women in social situations in America and Europe, not a negative thing exactly, but it figures that the most common escape hobby would be solo thinkery type games and management simulation games.

Dude culture involves constantly mending fractures in their work groups, so naturally the escape would be competitive games where you fuck over the other guy.
So if things were different in the cultures, the genre weights would change as well. Brazilian cultue surrounding women may be different, so the heavy statistical weight of female gamers could just be a result of the culture.

Maybe the Brazilian men have bigger worries that prevents relaxation, or maybe the main hobby for men is still sports, while women naturally picked up games since it aligns with their interests

My gf has played more Vidya than me today.

All I can tell you is that on PC AAA MMOs (at least on the few I worked on) our demographic split was ~85% male / ~15% female. Those are facebook data and are usually rather accurate since not that many people liking our pages would bother to lie on their gender (some do, but not enough and when you have over 250K+ Likes the impact of fake data is minor). No idea about spending however since we didn't collect gender data upon account registration and there was no way to make a cross-over between Facebook data and our account management system since we didn't use Facebook logins.
