My issue with 3 is they seemingly drop giving you hints on where to go next halfway through. I got the staff of change a few days ago, but no NPCs have hinted at what to do with it. I could just sail around and find it but the encounter rate is stupidly high. Honestly don't know if I'll finish it or move on to 4

Don't kid yourself, DQ threads were never good to begin with. It's not like there's much to discuss in these games. There's no hidden lore, no secret techniques, and pretty much everything is self-contained. DQ threads have pretty much always been either console-warring faggotry or recommendation threads that last 14 hours because no one is interested.
