What are some other genuinely though-provoking games? When was the last time a video game was able to challenge your view on something or at the very least make you think?

Zumba was the only one tbqhwyf but I also don't seek out these kind of experiences. I as well would like to hear from others if they can think of any examples though.
dunno, but plying witcher 1 atm and it does a decent job of making you think.
Soma didn't challenge my views. I'm not retarded so I already knew that consciousness "transfers" would never work.
Hellblade
what, why wouldn't they work?
Did you even play the game? They DO work, you retard.
The Talos Principle
the most based philosophical game ive ever played
really made me think about myself and why I play games
Ship of Theseus you fucking retarded subhuman
No. It isn't a transfer. It's a copy.
Because consciousness is more than memory. Putting your personality in a robot doesn't mean you're a robot, it means there's a robot that thinks it's you. "You" don't go anywhere.
Not the same thing. The issue in Soma is more like what if someone built a whole new second ship and then smashed the original to the pieces after it was done. There's no ambiguity there, the new ship is not the same one. It's a new one wearing the nametag of the old.
On that part I agree with you. I just stated a methode that could perhaps work. They never did this on SOMA tho.
It's ok Tameem, just admit your game is dead
A copy IS a transfer. It's one type of transfer. The word transfer doesn't necessarily imply the original place something is being moved from doesn't still contain it. Copying and putting something elsewhere is still a transfer.
i fucking love soma and its weird and oppressive ubdereater nature
the fact its got some big brain big thinks for a story only make me love it more
Why do people write this game's title in all caps? Same thing with Gun. It's not a fucking acronym. Do you write Grand Theft Auto in all lowercase just because that's how it looks on the boxart?
Both of these desu senpai
>A soma style simpsons game that reveals that the Simpsons we know and love died September 28, 1997
> the many Simpsons episodes we see after are mindless copies created by 20th century Fox for profit
>the copies all have the memories of the precious ones
>homer becomes self aware and tries to escape as Disney buys Fox
youtu.be
It's not about the box art, it's about how a game is showcasing itself on digital storefronts. Granted some games still use all caps even with super long titles, especially japanese ones and people don't use it that way, but in case of SOMA and GUN, it's short and easy to use, so people use it. Don't overthink it user.
>soma
>though-provoking
about what? subject(s) that have been discussed to death and detailed in books for decades? fucking hell, fuck outta here with your overrated piece of shit walking simulator garbage. play chess if you want a thought provoking game.
incorrect
Don't pretend you read books.
This.
but he's right
SOMA is one of the most overrated game stories ever released. Every twist in the story was telegraphed from miles away, every idea is explores has been done better in something else, and there's zero horror or tension for a horror game. 2/10
Nice counter argument, bucko. Guess I win, thanks for playing.
I think so too. But it has atmosphere and some nice moments, and that counts for a lot nowadays. I grabbed it when it was free on ps4 and enjoyed it.

Your whole body does this constantly. Every decade or so, your hand has been replaced with an entirely new hand. You grow new cells to replace old dead cells and it is only your abstract and essentially incorrect sense of identity that causes you to continue treating it as the same hand.
So, Ship of Theseus.
Okay, I'm not sure what to do here. You just quoted my text explaining why you were wrong and then made the exact same point again with different wording. Maybe just read what I wrote again, but replace "ship" with "hand" and maybe you'll understand it this time.
Pathologic
