2. Just put the fuckin thing down gently or turn the device off if you’re watchin a video

You'll have to open it up and stick a little roll of black tape behind a certain ribbon cable so that the contacts will line up properly again. I had the same sort of problem where if I shook the controller, it would act like I pressed L2. The foam behind the contacts goes flat over time. DS3s had the same problem. I've fixed several controllers this way.

DS4 is awesome because of how small it is, the xbone controller is bulky and unwieldy in comparison, the buttons and analogs are too far from each other, the dpad is shit, and the trigger buttons have a lot of resistance and are harder to press

Touchpad is dumb, thank god no games use it much as a touchpad because it's terribly placed (same with the Vita back touchpad). How do you use the DS4's analogs? My hands just won't stay on the sticks, those are so slippery for me. And it's always been like this for me (so it has nothing to do with the controller being old, I actually got mine only a month and a half ago).

I have to use kontrolfreeks, but I don't like the extra height they add. And mine are the shortest too. Are my hands just too dry? Is there anything I can do about it? Are there actually any good thumbstick grips that are very grippy but don't add height much?

It's weird - I have two DS4's, one that came with the console and one I bought standalone, and I can't remember which one is which, but one of them has sticks that have really decent grip due to being nicely textured, and the other has no texture on the rubber tips so it always feels slick. I use that one much less because I hate it. I've thought about just running a knife over those tips in a pattern just to give them some grip.

I do it for certain games, Devil May Cry 4 and 5 and Nier Automata.
It's really nice when you learn to do it well.

I love the DS4 actually, but it has its flaws. The triggers aren't a problem for me. I even started to use middle fingers to press them instead of shifting index fingers between L1/R1 and L2/R2 since playing Ace Combat 7. And now it's hard for me to go back to playing 4/5/0 on the PS2 because throttle/brake and yaw are flipped.

Yeah the touchpad is pretty useless, but I think the PS button is in the right place. It feels much better than on DS3. I don't like those Options and Share buttons as well. Start/Select were much better. They should've left them in their original positions and use Options/Share for some different things.

DS4 has a great d-pad.

Xbone controller one of the worst controllers I used. The 360 controller was nearly perfect, the only thing lacking was the d-pad. And somehow this piece of shit feels terrible despite being so similar to the 360.

(not the guy you're replying to but) Like I said earlier I have two DS4's and one of them has excellent grip on the sticks and the other one has next to none. They were purchased on the same day and are both official Sony DualShock 4 controllers, and they were like this out of the box, not like one wore out. I guess it's kind of a dice roll when you buy a DS4, I dunno.

The sticks are OK I think. I have two DS4's but use one of them much more. The other one is used mainly as a player 2 controller when a friend comes over. Both feel a little slippery, definitely much more than my DS3 (though I bought it second-hand so don't know how much it was used before but it's in very good condition). The only difference between the two DS4's I feel is the texture. My main controller's sticks just feel a little worn out. The DS4 sticks have a better shape than DS3, so my fingers don't slide off them even though they are a little slippery. I also like that you have to use more force to move them than the DS3 ones. Out of Dualshocks 2, 3 and 4 they are IMO the best.
I have to replace the sticks on my 360 controllers some day. Right now they are so worn out that they sometimes block when you tilt them to the side and let go of them.
