What are some real life examples of HIRE THIS MAN actually happening? Were they awful decisions or were they pretty good?

Sega hiring those Sonic fangame guys to make Sonic Mania.

>shitty unreal demo looks better than ANY nintendo game
>b-b-but m-muh artsyle, mu-mu-mu artistic vi-
NOPE
face it nintendies, you will never have good graphics and therefore your games will never be good

Bethesda tried to hire some mod creator but he refused

It happens all the fucking time.

Yea Forums (Yea Forums in general actually) knows too little about what is happening around the internet/world.

I remember a guy who made a massive Skyrim mod being hired by Bungie.

Daybreak hired Planetside 2 youtube Wrel as a dev. Months later, the company made sweeping changes that basically make it so an infantry unit can tank multiple direct shots from a main battle tank's cannon, gunships that fired slow ass projectiles couldn't destroy fighter planes which effectively crippled their ability to defend themselves against fighters, and in general the game balance was a whole lot worse than before Wrel signed onto the team.

And it was based as fuck

on topic

The AM2R dev got hired to help make an Ori game.

I think you mean .
From what I recall, he made the mod as his application to Bethesda, they turned him down, so instead he got with Bungie.

Guy made a Bejeweled clone in WoW and got hired by PopCap.

Every single Valve game

Oscuro was hired by Obsidian.

My dad was hired by Nintendo

The binding of Isaac
The team that made that dope add-on works on the next DLC, which will include their work + tons of other things.

Volition hired the guy who made the Gentlemen of the Row mod.
Everything Valve has done sans Half Life is from hired modders and poached college graduates.
VTMB Wesp patch guy is "consulting" for Bloodlines 2

The dude that made the TF2 idling program, backpack viewer, and some other things works at Valve now.

>If a game has good graphics then its a good game by default
Super dumb if you think this.

His logic is retarded, but that's not what he said.

Everything about Sonic Mania

coldtoad

I heard they hired a FO3 modder for NV because he knew the engine

Those are awful graphics though. Tons of motion blur, animals that look weird compared to mario, smudged hill textures, lots of unneccesary grass (Botw actually did this idk why)

Just because graphics look realistic doesn't mean they're good graphics you dingus

So basically if I want to work in video games I should be an autismal modder first? No thanks.

He was an Oblivion modder. I don't think he really did anything for Fallout 3.

Obsidian hired the guy who made OOO, the mod that made Oblivion actually playable. He did some level design for New Vegas.

Along those same lines Bethesda hired the author of that flashy combat mod for Morrowind, who then helped work on Oblivion's combat. Todd has said in the past that they regularly hire modders as designers; this was before all that creation club shit

He literally said graphics will never be that good, therefore the games will never be good.

>if a game doesn't have good graphics then it's not good
is the same as
>if a game is good then it has good graphics
but NOT
>if a game has good graphics then it's good
Now go back to study, high school is starting soon
