is there even any chance left it is going to be good ?
Is there even any chance left it is going to be good ?
Is he memeing or Dragon Age actually have all of those? I never played it because I got utterly disappointed in BioWare after Mass Effect and I got tired of CRPGs in general.
yeah dragon age has all of those and more
you can even choose to learn blood magic instead of the demonsex iirc
i stopped playing dragon age 5 hours into inquisition, and im probably not gonna start again when 4 comes out.
its such a shame, origins was a fucking amazing game
Realistically, I'm not too worried. If it doesn't feel like Dragon Age, it won't sell like Dragon Age, and Bioware knows that. They've had their fair share of flops lately, so they know that fucking up yet another well-liked series would be company suicide at this point. The virtue-signaling will be largely kept to this guy's Twitter posts; the game itself will have gays and perhaps a transgender character, but it won't go full SJW proselytizing, because they know that won't sell and they can't afford another flop right now.
The first Dragon Age was pretty good, just google images for "dragon age desire demon".
>any chance left
It never had a chance in the first place
Same guy made Trespasser.
You can tell a game's writer going going to be utter trash whenever they refer to themselves as a "Narrative Director".
>all art is politics
Every time I read this, I cringe.
All video games would be better and cheaper to make if all "narrative directors" were fired. Glorified ideas guys hured by nepotism.
DA Origins was really good and hamburger helper was actually a decent writer
The real question we should be asking is will DA4 even release.
What the fuck is a Narrative Director and how are they any different from a director or writer?
yes first was is solid theres a reason people still recommend it even though its made by BIOWARE
0% chance
they are the ones making the games
there's no winnning here, they will never stop no matter what
you will eventually tire out
First DA is old Bioware, where you could be Jesus or Satan in your playthroughs, I mean, at the end of ME1 you can decapitate an interplanetary alliance so humanity can take the lead, imagine pitching that thread in a modern Bioware writers room.
Like I said earlier, they're glorified idea guys.
creative director -> Oversee's everything related to the game and is primarily in charge of making sure it comes together
"narrative director" -> head of the writing team, but still reports to the CD
atleast in most AAA companies
doesnt matter what they are
they're here to stay and they WILL shit up all your games
in video games you often have a bunch of writers writing stories independently sharing the general theme and idea. these themes and ideas are developed by said narrative director who is supposed to make sure all the stories eventually get put together into some sort of working narrative.
or in short:
Why would you have your hopes up for a Bioware game to be good?
First Dragon Age has more edgelord options than vast majority of RPGs on the market. You can literally desecrate the ashes of local Jesus, have sex with demons, befriend an old asshole mage who will kidnap people in order to research lifespan extension and share results with you, among other things. Even DA2 still has some of the similiar wildness, though to a lesser extent. The main faggot in the game turns out to be an actual terrorist and you can murder him for it.
Divinity is also fun in that regard.
I really need to finish OS and play the first one
>dragon age is about celebrating diversity and our differences
i guess thats technically true if you consider gathering a party "celebrating diversity". just a really fucking gay and lame takeaway from that.
>We have finite time on this world. I want to spend mine making it better.
Gross, what a douche.
Wait, so EA is still giving Bioware money to make games??? Even after all those major flops??
Are they stooopid?
>I wear my heart, and beliefs, on my sleeve. And I always will.
Haha oh man what a douche. Who the hell talks like this?
Literally every AAA game has a Narrative Director. They're in charge of organizing the other writers and massing their work into a cohesive narrative. They're the ones who plug plot holes. Who figure out finer details of tone.
bioware being big gays on social media is the only positive press they get
literally everything else they do is a negative hit
>there are people on this board waiting for DA4
Tough getting your opinions challenged heh?
They already invested too much into DA4 to just let it die, so we are going to get whatever abomination it ends up being. Then when it flops hard, bioware will finally end.
I'm surprised EA even keeps bioware alive at this point. But if DA4 fails I think it will finally be the end for bioware. it's just failure after failure.
Believing that big corps make games for le us gamers is living a lie
These kinds of games died years ago when more people realize that games can be good business
Its not the genre or the setting style or whatever, its not even a good story, its bringing as much money as you can by making a game for everyone
I do not know how to say it better but you people simply need to grow up
Big games even by the companies that were good in before are not for you anymore
They are to use every free pr trick they can, cash in as much shekels as they can and move on bc that financial quarter won't close itself
Same with movies or anything that went massmedia route
Literally what? I tried doing an Evil playthrough of it like 2 months ago and it was straight up impossible. You get pidgeon-holed into generic good guy more than half the time and all of the evil options are chaotic fucking retarded, rather than edgy. And even if you do pick the chaotic fucking retarded option, the outcome is usually exactly the same except you don't get the whole reward from the quest.
I did like cucking that little elf fag though.
rpgs should be about roleplaying and being free to do what you want.
if your "rpg" is very linear, providing almost no meaningful narrative and mechanical freedom and dictates to you what your character is meant to gain as a life lesson at the end, then it's not an rpg.
>won't go full SJW proselytizing
Even then it will just be mediocre.
imagine actually caring about dragon age in 2019
Me when I writing high school essays that all the teachers loved for some reason.
Dude the game has literal cuckold option in its signature romance
If you're a city elf, you can either send your father off to slavery for money, sacrifice him for additional heatl/stats, or save him
never played any of the dao dlcs
from where the cool kids download dlc packs these days
>from where the cool kids download dlc packs these days
steam
>any chance left
on what precipice of lies did you start from to insinuat that there ever was any to begin with?
>Dragon Age has always been about belonging - about realizing that family is more than blood and about celebrating our diversity and differences.
>Star Wars has always been about belonging - about realizing that family is more than blood and about celebrating our diversity and differences.
>Final Fantasy has always been about belonging - about realizing that family is more than blood and about celebrating our diversity and differences.
>WoW Classic has always been about belonging - about realizing that family is more than blood and about celebrating our diversity and differences.
You can put this limpdick generic shit after anything.
this
nigger
dude wtf
another nigger
Guy on the right didn't actually disprove the narrative director's point. DAO WAS about love and friendship.
A tard wrangler for Writers essentially.
>DAO WAS about love and friendship.
It's about sacrifice and the consequences of shirking that duty.
No wait, it's about a great evil that unites people who generally hate each other.
Actually, it's about how petty politics/events affect the final outcome of a conflict.
Oh wait, I know, it's almost like you can slap any generic label you want on what the "narrative's" underlying theme is.
kys
reviews say shit doesnt work sometimes
The friendship/love theme is baked into the mechanics of the game and direction of the adventure. There is no disputing that it is a major theme.
All of those things are portrayed as morally wrong though
This
Both these twitter goobers are turbo brainlets. DA:O is open enough it could be about decent chunk of things. Loyalty, Victory, Duty, Friendship.
Game of Thrones is also incredibly edgy shit full of rape and torture but that doesn't mean its main themes aren't about overcoming petty differences to build a better world together and shit
It's almost like "theme" isn't the same as "all the things it depicts"
>its main themes aren't about overcoming petty differences to build a better world together and shit
You should've told that to writers.
Its main theme is that idealism is wrong. There's no other way to read it in light of the ending.
Is Dragon Age Origin worth playing? How does it stack up against Divinity Original Sin 2?
>Is Dragon Age Origin worth playing?
Yes, but it's utterly broken.
Do not buy it.
its closer to Baldurs Gate 2
its decent
How the fuck are people still pondering whether or not BioWare games are going to be good in 2019?
No, it's not going to be good. How much more evidence do you need?
Giving players a choice and having a narrative theme are not at all mutually exclusive. If your theme is the power of friendship, you can give players the opportunity to play alone, and suffer for it. A logical consequence that is entirely thematically consistent.
Please stay out of game design.
The theme of both GoT and ASOIAF is
>HURR HEREDITARY MONARCHY BAD
>M-MUH DEMOCRACY
i esspecially enjoy the politics of mario, geometry wars, and tetris. bioware is about to be restructured and closed and everyone knows it. mass effect was killed, anthem was honestly okay if it was a quarter of a game and priced like it,and now dragon age. inquisition was okay but another okay game and bioware is out. im rooting for them but i expect the worst esspecially with the politics in anthem that didnt need to be there eg.
a white woman spy marries some middle eastern spy thats undercover. and his mission was actually to kill her. what kinda shit espionage agent is so gullible? the game really wants you to say they should follow their hearts and love conquers all but to its credit lets you send him to his death.
>celebrating our diversity and differences
Let's face it, this doesn't mean shit and if you ask one of these people to name 3 ways THEY'VE benefitted from diversity even they'd struggle.
Everyone 'agrees' it's a good thing, only nobody can actually explain why, and there's plenty of evidence to the contrary.
How are Fur Elise, Michelangelo's David or Cafe de nuit political?
>muh evidence that brown people bad!!!!!
Go back to Shapiro /pol/tard
I'm not surprised somebody typing like you would think that these shit fucking games are "okay" and root for the garbage ass company that made them.
>hiring an army of incompetent monkeys
>they all have different opinions
>the whole narrative turns into a huge mess
Ahhh now I remember why most of the modern games are complete trash, especially when it comes to a storytelling.
Wasn't that supposed to be the job of the Lead Writer?
Who in his right mind would want to play another Dragon Age, especially after Cisquisition?
This is what you get when you play shitty fucking storygame garbage. How gaming got fucking overrun by this fucking garbage is beyond me.
Gaming needs to crash and burn and be reborn as actual fucking GAMES again, not pretentious graphicwhore storyshit with shit controls.
>Cisquisition
>"let's make a diverse cast"
>blindly follow blatant stereotypes
Why?Did these people never play a tabletop game with friends?
There's literally nothing being said in this post at all
>DAO
>Leilana starts to talk about religion in front of a saint
>Ghost saint tells her to shut the fuck up because she is full of bullshit
>Random character wants to leave the party because he was afraid of dying
>Party leader kills him because he knew the what would happen if he decided to leave
DAO was cool.
Let me know when you're in favor of a WW2 game playing as Germany, hypocrite.
>First day, they come and catch everyone. Second day, they beat us and eat some for meat. Third day, the men are all gnawed on again. Fourth day, we wait and fear for our fate. Fifth day, they return and it's another girl's turn. Sixth day, her screams we hear in our dreams. Seventh day, she grew as in her mouth they spew. Eighth day, we hated as she is violated. Ninth day, she grins and devours her kin. Now she does feast, as she's become the beast. Now you lay and wait, for their screams will haunt you in your dreams
>Dragon Age is about belonging
>still having hope for a nu bioware game
you fags never learn your lesson do you
No. You're talking about a franchise that had one "almost as good as the glory years" entry that took almost ten years to make, one inexcusably bad hack job cash grab that was rushed out the door in eighteen months, and whose latest game was well below the standards of its time but was still such an ordeal to create that it caused "stress casualties" left and right. What on earth would make you think this franchise is going to suddenly turn around and be good?
Regardless, I'm sure DA4 will be "good" in the same way DAI was labeled "good": latched onto by politically obsessed blog "journalists" who will assign an 80% to any game that is at least playable and a 90% to any game that fellates their particular worldview. Prepare for another game with a 60% user score and mediocre response to be held up as GOTY 2020.
It's easy to tell when a leftist is on the board: when you read something you disagree with you immediately resort to ad hominem instead of offering a counter argument.
Never had any chance.
UM there are these things called RESTAURANTS, user.
So that's already 30% of the reason it's fine we're giving away our culture, out land and our blood under duress to lesser beings.
repeat after me: "interactive. fiction."
they call it RPG but it's not, and that's why they fail to make good adaptations of table top pen and paper
If it gives us more autistic cuties who am I to complain.
