Blood Money, then get HITMAN 2 (tm) and buy legacy pass for season 1 so you can play all the levels in the same engine and use season 1 unlocks in HITMAN 2.

Ignore the others, they're either outdated or not worth playing and the story prior to the current games is a muddied mess thanks to HITMAN tm being unclear on the correct canon events from the previous games.

Unironically just get the new one. The newest two games are made to be a starting point for new players and you can get the levels from the first game in the second.

or he can just get a cheap key for Hitman 2016 online and play it through Hitman 2 free version.
That way he doesn't have to pay full price for a game he's unsure about

maybe, make sure to have 2016 installed first, then Download the Hitman 2 trial and it should have a menu where you can "validate" that you have the game

whatever you own of tm1 you get free on tm2. i dont know how it works on playstation but on pc i installed tm2 played it it a bit, quit the game, then checked and i had the legacy thing for free and it started downloading all the levels as an update.

does anyone like the sniper maps? i did himmelstein and it was kinda fun with the silly challenges but for the most part using bullets as coins to lead the targets around makes the gameplay really cheesy.

not really my jam. im working on getting the homing suitcase unlock

Start with Absolution. It will teach you the necessary skills to play the somewhat more complicated (and unpopular with casuals) Hitman 2016 and Hitman 2 in a fun and approachable way.

I also have it free from psplus. Buy Hitman 2 and you can get the legacy pack for free. Download it from within Hitman 1.

I enjoy them all so I'd just recommend to play them in the order they came out.

are the newer sniper maps better than himmelstein where you're constantly waiting for something to happen for the challenges?? i enjoy the sniping and taking pot shots at flower pots was fun the first time but wrapping up the last few challenges was so boring waiting around.

The new one probably is the best of them but also suffers from getting boring pretty soon. Also a lot of grind to unlock the new sniper.

dont really care about unlocking the new rifle for sandbox i just like doing the challenges. besides i already have the ave maria sieger 300 and i doubt i'll use any other rifle in the sandbox levels.

Am I the only one who thinks the new games lack a certain charm the old ones had?

the atmosphere and music is way, way better in the older games.

the sieger 300 ghost as well as the new Siberia sniper have 4x zoom instead of the 3x of the Sieger 300 Advanced (the one that plays Ave Maria)

I liked how the levels in he older games were smaller and you got way more. You kill your target a few different ways and check out the place and move on, new ones you get like 6 per season and the are just massive and you're expected to run the same tired maps 100 times. It gets stale fast and all those fluff challenges just makes the game feel like it's trying to overstay its welcome.

Play all of them in release order.

true. wish they would add more map options like play the map at night, day, morning, evening and each time of day the targets and guards have totally different routines and are at different places on the map. they could really do a lot.
