I have to agree, I don't think the original pacman has held up. Ms Pacman is much better. I dont see any reason to play the original in a world where Ms Pacman exists. Don't even get me started the rest of the rubbish in the pacman series like pacman jr or pacland...

Yeah Ms Pacman is better since it has several different mazes in it, and the tweaked enemy AI leads to more dynamic gameplay. The original only had 1 maze type and more predictable enemy AI which leads to the monotony you describe in your post.

So you didn't read my post, got it. What I'm bitching about has nothing to do with the AI or design, it's the core concept of the game.

Also I agree with you about the clones. None of them really understood the core concept of what makes pacman so appealing, leading to very unfun gameplay that only aped the surface level elements without capturing the deeper elements. The only clones that didnt fall prey to this were the ones that ripped off pacman 100% and changed nothing (eg PCMan) And yes I know Ms. Pacman started off as a clone, but it was one of the few clones that not only understood what made Pacman work, but actually surpassed it. It is the exception that proves the rule.

What the fuck is there to market about Pac-Man? He doesn't have any games out right now and any boomer who is going to buy Pac-Man merch or shit isn't using twitter
