What am I in for?

rebel revolts

Liquor factories

Also the best paradox game to date

Putting all your effort in keeping up with 8 other countries so you don't get locked out of 70% of the game mechanics

Regret
...for what could have been

>all your effort
just spam prestige

grosspreussens

Jacobins, socialists, communists, up the ass

Some combination of:
>rebellions
>having to tax the pants off everyone unless America or Netherlands
>more rebellions
>some pretty disgusting borders in Eastern Europe
>alternating between deliberately appeasing political groups and irritating them
Some things to know out the gate that I had trouble with:
>National Stockpile and Military Spending both impact military, but the National Stockpile payment is what increases reinforcement/morale whereas Military Spending mostly just affects the amount of soldiers you can recruit. Keep National Stockpile spending for Military and Navy low if not in a war.
>Promoting education and literacy is critical to keep from falling behind in tech. Always research Philosophy techs (Culture tab) as soon as they appear, and ideally Education techs at least up to Biologism.
>Artillery and infantry, in that order, are the most relevant units for most of the game (artillery is the main damage dealer, while infantry is needed to keep battles drawn out).
>Don't build too many steel refineries, and make sure you have control of enough iron RGO provinces for late-game. Iron deficits are a real thing.
>If China somehow westernizes and you don't have a self-sustaining economy, prepare for pain.
>If a Great Power, focus as much as possible on sphereing and don't be afraid to do it slowly and in increments if fighting another. If not a Great Power, prioritize Prestige techs rapidly to get there before you have the ability to industrialize.

Liquor factories, canneries, and cement factories are go-to for setting up industry; lategame machine parts, electric gear, and cars/aeroplane factories will make you shitloads of money

and don't play an unciv until you know what you're doing unless its Japan

Get HFM.

nah miss me with that vitamin c papal state

Rebels. Lots and lots of rebels.

what the fuck which atrocity of a mod is this

Rebels and rapid industrialization.

Virginity

that's actually how it looked in the base game, you need to get Heart of Darkness to get it blue.

Vanilla

while this is up, how are you supposed to play as Egypt?

I should have known only someone like Johan could be behind this.

Pain for the first few hours as you try to figure out how everything works, then one of the best grand strategy games ever made.

Your first move almost always should be to make sure you are earning tech points quickly, it’ll help a ton later on. Use national focus’ to get 2% clerics nationwide, increase your literacy by having high education funding as well as education reforms and don’t take the culture techs relating to literacy and tech points too late.

Don’t let your infamy go above 25 unless you are playing either the USA or Japan and know what you are doing or you will get dogpiled and destroyed.

A very well-made, in-depth population simulator. POP growth, POP migration (internal and external), and assimilation are all key focuses.

POP growth can be managed by government policies, Administration spending, and also needs (which can be affected by taxes and the like). More POPs means more taxes, more craftsmen in factories, and more population that can be mobilized.

Migration keys highly into assimilation, as well as playstyle differences depending on location.

Assimilation is the key determinant as to what types of troops you can recruit, how much unrest you can have, and other such factors.

get the slavs and frogs to purge the roaches with you

>Attack China
>Kill rebels
>Build Liquor factories
>Research Prestige early on
>Truce ended? Attack China again
