Everyone knows they fucked up with Risen 2 and the fuckup poisoned all of their consecutive games up to Elex.

I mean, do you like it? Its a very big game with a lot of content, without dlcs and lootboxes, semi decent fighting mechanic, really stupid dialogues and somewhat interesting world to Explore. I grew up playing The Gothic and I love this game to Death to this Day, and I had a lot of fun with elex.
Also, if you are New to Pirahna games, you cant join all guilds, pick a side right from the start

It actually sold really well for a PB game and got an >arts grant from the German government, then THQ bought them.

It's about on par with Risen 1 and 3, better than 2, so yeah that checks out.

That's what the ranged weapons are for. I recommend Berserk's split shot with a bow if you want to still give the enemies a chance, go with the psycho tech people and grab a flamer or a plasma rifle if you just want to breeze through.

Same deal with every PB game. You have to know exactly where to go to get all the items and training you need, right when you need them, or everything is terrible. Game pretty much requires meta knowledge. I had fun figuring it out for myself, though.

Try just sticking with the Berserkers are doing what they ask of you. Avoid anything that involves combat, just stick around the village. Try to cheese combat with a Bow and start training Bow and stealing stuff ASAP.

Takes quite a bit of elex chugging to unlock it. Not as much chugging as you'd expect for an end game weapon, but he'll be combat-viable long before he unlocks it.

Did anyone ever find anything about the bandit faction that made them appealing? I tried pretty hard to work with their explosive weapons and those combat stims or whatever the hell, but never managed to put together anything that was better than just plasma rifling shit to death or shotgunning it full of arrows.

If you don't mind the combat and difficulty at the begging then it's pretty good game

i managed to get it barely halfway through the game right after joining the clerics with the other op gun they give you

The stims are pretty nutso, their weapons are mediocre stat wise. You can stunlock enemies with them if thats your thing. And chainswords of course

You don't really need meta knowledge for Elex. You just do quests for a bit instead of going out into the world expecting to conquer it at level one.

God, the waterfalls in Elex are so ugly. I don't get it. They made the perfect waterfall in Gothic 3.

Risen 1 combat was the pinnacle of PB.

I don't get PB. They made two really good, immersive games (Gothic 1 & 2), then shat their pants with Gothic 3. Elex was a good time but has none of the replaybility or charm of their original games.

your stats dont do anything other than unlocking gear, your char is completely defined by the gear he wears, which means its very easy to become overpowered really early (like 10-20 hours in)
